    Garden Path With Chickens

My first Salon scent! I loved the art and the description of this, and knew I had to have it. Wet: Very sharp, screaming loud old lady perfume. After a few minutes on my skin: Clear, sweet florals, some weeds. Definitely green. My skin tends to amp florals horribly, so I was a little wary of the florals coming out so soon. About 20 minutes: Some rose, thankfully it isn't cloying or amping. This is great, because most of Beth's roses morph and amp unpleasantly on me. I also smell some ivy, I think maybe it is anchoring the rose and making it behave. This one has some strong staying power on me. Hours later I could still smell it. It is like Emma2403 said, familiar flowers, but I can't put my finger on them. Someone earlier mentioned that the scent is warm, but not hot. This is a warm summer morning, when the air is soft, the dew is still wet on your bare feet, and the heat hasn't gone to sweltering. The end result: Expensive french milled soap mixed with dirt. Doesn't sound great, but I really liked it. Rating: 4/5 Keeper: Yes

    The Berkshires

The first time I smelled Harvest Moon 06, I thought, This smells like the Berkshires in autumn. When I was young, my sisters' and I were scottish dancers. My dance group always had a concert at the Lenox Club in October. Harvest Moon took me right back there, with the smell of fall foliage and hot apple cider.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

I thought I posted a review already, but I guess not..... In the bottle: Deep, sexy cherry. On skin: Bright, fruity cherry with creamy sugar. Drydown: Dark cherry sweetened by a hint of sugar and softened by a bit of cream. I bought this because I thought, "what the hell" while I bought Tokyo Stomp, which I was SURE would be perfect on me. It wasn't, but Bloody Mary is. I'm SO hoarding this scent. I'm going to collect as many bottles as I can. In fact, I'd probably mug an old lady if she had Bloody Mary.

    Milk and Cream Notes

    Oh, I so second this.

Call it a broken heart, a break-up, heartache...

If you are looking to boost your mood, try Croquet. It's bright and happy smelling. If you want to feel confident and sexy, try Aged Snake Oil. Or Boomslang. They always make me feel tall and mysterious. (I'm 5'1" and not mysterious.)

I want to smell like dirt! Dirt, Earth, Soil recommendations

Brimstone-to me it smells like a cool basement in the summer. It's cold, damp earth to me.

    Fragrances similar to "Flowerbomb"

Your best bet might be a fragrance oil. I know Sweetcakes (a f.o. company) makes a killer Flowerbomb scent. Mix it with some oil (jojoba, apricot kernel) put it in a rollerball and voila! Flowerbomb for cheap.
  8. I've been wearing Morocco, and I feel really sexy with it on.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

This is long overdue!! I bought two bottles: CCCL: In the bottle: At first whiff, I get butter. But after another sniff, I get caramel, then coffee. But not in your face coffee like Miskatonic U, this is quiet, morning roast. After drydown: Some caramel, and the vanilla from Snow White. Tinged with a tiny plastic note. But it is still nice, it is a soft, quiet foody scent. CDVI: In the bottle: Very fresh. Orange peel. After drydown: This reminds me very much of Prescriptives perfume Calyx. Very fresh, a little fruity, exotic, adult fruits. And maybe some light florals, but it just anchors it. The florals are in the background. I don't know how to catagorize this, it's a mix of melon, citrus, and light florals. It's beautiful.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

In the bottle: Lemon tea, with light smoke grounding it. After five minutes: The lemon is fading, I smell Earl Grey tea, what I imagine is the fougere. Further drydown: The lemon is very faint, it smells a little acrid, but underneath there is a clean smell, but I'm getting leather, kindof oiled leather. This is a manly smell, a strong, silent type. I'll edit if it changes any more!

    Harvest Moon 2006

I just got this in the mail and have already fallen in love! In bottle: I smell apple, hay and light spices. On skin: Visions of autumn. I get a dark apple cider with some pomegranate. It's cidery, but not in a foody way. It's very fresh, like the smell of an apple when you bite into it. After a slight drydown the hay is coming out more, and warm wood with a slight dust to it. (Not too much, it isn't making me sneeze, or tickling my nose.) Very comforting, and still fresh, bright apple. The spices are heating up, I am getting some cinnamon, and maybe hazelnut and almond milk. This is a keeper, I ordered 2 bottles because of the description. Harvest Moon 2005 didn't work on me, but 2006 is definitely in my top 3 Lunacies. This scent brings up everything that is wonderful about autumn. EDIT: After 3 hours, it still is giving great throw. It hasn't changed very much during the drydown, funny I don't get any green out of this scent. My only worry is that 2 bottles won't be enough!!!!!

    Monster Bait: Underpants

I was sure I'd reviewed this....but I looked and didn't see one. In the bottle: Buttercream, and rum. On my skin: Pure heaven. This is the first of Beth's foody scents that has worked on my skin. It has a tendency to really amp sweet notes up to a nauseous level. It had great throw, lasted for a whole day (though I slathered myself, so maybe that is why) and is a definite keeper. I was lucky enough to get an imp from a lovely forumite. (I missed the update, and had to buy it on Ebay. 3 bottles on Ebay) Rating: 10!!!!

    Miskatonic University

... The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls. I was lucky enough to be enabled by Dinah, a lovely, lovely forumite. The description is SPOT-ON. First, I smell irish coffee in the bottle. On my skin, it's pure coffee, and I get a note of hazelnut. Then it is coffee, and oakwood. The drydown is some oakwood and dust. A tiny bit of coffee remains. I have an image of someone in tweed, surrounded by dusty books in a dim library, possibly of gothic origin. Love it!

    Where is this scent?

Hi- I have a 10 ml of Bacchanalia, and am trying to find a description of it, but I can't find it anywhere! Is it a discontinued blend, or am I just missing it?

    Three Witches

Oh, this is my favorite. I wouldn't let myself adore it because it was discontinued and my chances of ever getting more than an imp were slim. But now, it has been resurrected, and I can let my adoration flow. Wet: Cinnamon, cloves, and what must be the pepper grounds it. First Drydown: Smells very similar to wet, it has softened slightly. Overall: This is a 5 star perfume. It has a remarkable throw, lasts for hours and hours on me. It almost disappoints me because I want an excuse to slather myself in it. Buy again? Yes, I ordered 3 today. A small part of me feels like a greedy bitch, but mostly I feel really good about it.

    Lady MacBeth

Oh, I love this. It rivals Bordello for my favorite. On my skin: Berries, and I smell a small bit of thyme. It grounds it and deepens it. I love it, can't stop sniffing my wrist. (So much that I was late to work this morning.) After half hour: The thyme has receded, I smell a little wine, but mostly berries. After an hour: Just berries, it reminds me of childhood. The scent is how blackberries warmed by the sun tasted. A warm burst of berry scent. It only lasts about 3 hours on my skin, but I love it so much that I can slather myself. (Actually, it just gives me an excuse to constantly reapply it. I never thought wine scents would work with my skin, but the magic of Beth's blending works, and makes it one of my favorite scents!

    Antique Lace

Oh, I love this, I'm so glad it is back! I ordered a 10ml yesteray! In the imp: faded flowers. On wrist wet: Faded, dried flowers, and dust. It makes my nose tickle, but I can't stop sniffing my wrist. After 1/2 hour: The dustiness is almost gone, I get the slight plasticy smell that I get with Snow White. (It isn't unpleasant to me, reminds me of new dolls when I was a kid, like Barbie, and Sea Wees.) Underneath the plasticy smell is the creaminess of the vanilla coming out. After a few hours: The plasticy smell is there a tiny bit. Overall, the vanilla is there. It's not a buttery vanilla, Chopchica put it best in her review when she said: " It's the stronger, more seductive older sister of Snow White." I couldn't put it any better.

    Midway

Ah, Midway. In the bottle: Tons of cotton candy, buttered popcorn. On my arm: The cotton candy is lovely. I'm not so sure about the popcorn. Butter scents tend to morph into something that can be described as blech on my skin. After about an hour: My worst fears are realized. All I can smell is the butter and salt, and it doesn't smell nice. I really wanted this to work. I just have to accept that foody scents don't work on me, no matter how hard I try. Well, someone else will enjoy it.

    Milk Moon 2005

I bought a bottle from Ebay, because the description looked like just what I wanted. Well, it is what I wanted, but my skin just turned it bad. so, sooooo bad. In the bottle I got a minty/buttery toasted coconut scent. It was very intriging. On my skin, it was interesting, I could smell a lot of toasted buttery coconut. BUT, then, it turned to sour toasted milk. blech! This just was heartbreaking for me. Why, oh why, do you hate me Milk Moon?

    Bordello

Bordello is what I thought O would do for me. This blooms on my skin, it is gorgeuous and very deep. I love it. In the imp it smells like plums. As it dries on my skin, the fruits dominate, with a slight edge of wine, and anchored by the amaretto. I can't identify it as amaretto, it is just there deepening the blend, keeping it anchored. This will definitely be a 5 ml.
  21. oceandreamer001

    O

Oh, O. The devastation is still in my heart. Why does my skin hate you? In the imp, O is breathtaking. I put it on, and it smells great. Then the drydown begins. What was so lovely now has turned musty and stale. The honey turns antique store (but not good antique store, moldy, musty junk antique store) on my skin. At the very end, I get hints of nice honey, deepened by I guess the amber. A lovely scent, I really wanted it to work, but my skin rebelled.

    Snow White

I begged, borrowed and bled to get an imp of this. (Oh, alright, I bought it on Ebay.) A previous reviewer called it "crystalline". What a perfect word to describe this fragrance. It is bright, reminds me of blinding snow when the sun is shining on it. But it isn't "cold" to my nose. It's definitely a winter fragrance, very subtle, but longlasting. (6 hours later and I can still smell it) Originally it smelled a tiny bit plasticy on my skin, but that gave way quickly to very subtle flowers, so subtle I can't identify them. They smell white. They are light and very lovely. On the drydown, this smells slightly vanilla-y on me, but not a buttery vanilla, a nice true creamy vanilla. But I wouldn't categorize it as a vanilla fragrance. It is a bit of an enigma, but I really like it. My next step is to hunt down a 5ml.

    Vinland

The legendary site of the Viking colony in Newfoundland founded circa 985. Crisp northern wind blowing over loganberry, wild roses, prairie crocus, iris versicolor Linné, mountain avens, yellow birch bark, mayflower and maple leaf. The only way I can describe this: It's like walking into a Lush store. All the scents mingling together...delicious. Pure Bliss!!!!!

    Bluebeard

I tried this the other day, and had to post. When I first put it on, I smell violet, and something else that I like. Wet it smells of violets, some musk, and clean. Drydown: I'm smelling violets, and soapy clean. After an hour: I'm in LOVE!!!! I smell lilacs, but not old lady lilacs. The scent of sunwarmed flowers. The smell I remember from sitting underneath lilac trees in bloom when I was a child. And a clean, fresh, soapy smell underneath. It doesn't smell manly on me at all. This might just be my favorite scent, even above Bayou, which I am crazy about. I could bathe in this scent.

    Jack

I'm new to BPAL, and I've been busily swapping, and I got Jack. This smelled really nice in the bottle, pumpkin, spices, and something else I couldn't identify. On my skin wet: Ooh, this is nice. I smell pumpkin pie, warm, relaxing. Something else is just under the surface though. On my skin dry down: I still smell the pumpkin, but that other note I can't identify is there on top. If I smell my skin, it activates my gag reflex. It's not the clove, I don't know what it is, and I don't want to smell too deeply to figure it out. On my skin after an hour: I smell mostly pumpkin and nutmeg again, most of the bad note is gone, but, well, bad memories. I like the scent, it doesn't seem to work on my skin. I'm so disappointed, this is a fabulous fall scent. I'll try it again and see if there is any difference.
