Pachelbel

On me it starts out smelling just like Milk Moon, but it fades much more quickly and instead of turning to warm nutmeg-buttery rice pudding, it becomes coconut and shea. I think I like it; it's soft, and smells like clean, healthy skin. And sometimes, like milk and coconut.

I say this all the time, but I think Haloa's my new favorite Or at least it's way up there with Dragon's Milk and Athens. IN THE BOTTLE: CHEESECAKE. Absolute cheesecake. WET: It morphs almost instantly to grapes and...I think that's the olive leaf, giving it a fresh background. Still delicious. But that's up close; a little further back, it's still cakey with just the faintest splash of grape. DRY: Mostly the same, but it switches between grape and cake with a hint of warm frankincense. This is one of the few scents where myrrh doesn't go nuts on me. SO. GOOD. I'll need another bottle.

When I first had Midway, I got undercurrents of caramel apple, but it was mostly smothered by the salt-butter smell of the popcorn and the sugar from the cotton candy. And ever since then, I have wanted caramel apple It is here! And it DOES smell like a row of fresh caramel apples, when it's dry. (I'd review the other stages, but I wore it to work and never got a chance to take notes.) It also has tons of staying power; I put it on around 10 this morning, and fourteen hours later it's still very faintly noticeable.

I like this It wasn't at all like what I expected; I don't catch much chocolate, even in the bottle. It's all blended too thickly together, like being in a candy factory. On my skin, it goes caramel and hops. (It took me forever to place what the slightly sharp scent was--hops! I like it, it keeps this from going the way of Beaver Moon on me, which was too sweet.) There are wafts of the dark chocolate then, and a hint of vanilla. It lasts about three or four hours on me, so it's probably not one I'd wear to work (I can't take any liquids in with me so I couldn't reapply, alas), but it is one I'll wear on my days off.

When I first got this, my first thought was, "Limited Edition Dorian?" which on the one hand was nice because I used up my Dorian imp and haven't bought a bottle yet, but on the other hand was slightly disappointing. However, the more I try this the more I think I like it better than Dorian. WET: Tea, clean lemon-esque musk. DRY: Tea and vanilla, but a deeper vanilla than Dorian has. And light musk. (I will never stop being surprised that BPAL has made me like musks ) And the final result is something strong-feeling, clean, and utterly delicious. I would love this on a man but he'd have to fight me for it first

I couldn't resist a scent named 'Snow Flakes'. In the bottle, it smells...just like Snow White o_o Exactly like it, to me. I liked Snow White but not enough for a bottle so that was sort of surprising. Wet...still Snow White. People are saying mint but I'm not--OH. Oh, THERE'S the mint. It's not like the sort of mint you expect when you smell toothpaste or gum, though--it's subtle enough that it lends a sort of chill to the Snow White floral-apple scent, and it takes a moment for you to realize it's not just cold air, it's mint! And then there's something sweeter, very pretty and delicate, that I just get wafts of from the throw. Ok, yes. I'm very, very glad I bought this. I hope it lasts as long as Snow White did, because I'm wearing it to work.

When I first got my order, I thought Eat Me was the one with buttered toast. Drink Me smells more like butterscotch than anything. I liked Eat Me more at first, which was unfortunate because that was the one that I accidentally decapitated. IN THE BOTTLE: Butterscotch! Maybe even a little...booze, of some kind? WET: Cake. Yellow cake, to be precise. Soft, spongey, warm yellow cake. DRY: Butterscotch frosting on a cupcake, and...no, wait. This is exactly like pineapple upside down cake. I can even smell the candied fruits. And that is why I ended up liking it more than Eat Me. Bottle, please!

I put off reviewing this because I wanted it so badly, and then when I got it, I didn't like how it smelled on me. But, several months later, I'm turning into an absolute fiend for incense smells so this was begging for a second chance. IN THE BOTTLE: Saffron and almond. Sort of a bright, enticing smell--very golden. WET: Amber! I've missed you. And I think that's myrrh, too, which worried me at first--myrrh likes to throttle other notes. DRY: Almond, but not the wet-pseudo-cherry smell you'd expect. It's like real, dry almonds, slivered and toasted. The amber blends with it, and even the myrrh is behaving. Yup, very glad I gave this a second chance.

Wow, this has throw And it doesn't immediately go odd on me, fruity blend that it is. IN THE BOTTLE: Fruit. Very juicy fruit, very sweet--I'd put it in a pie just to flavor the filling. (Not literally, but you know.) It smells like fruit and syrup, I guess--a mix of raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. WET: More of the same, perhaps a little sweeter if that's possible. DRY: It smells exactly like Jester + blackberry. If you've never had Jester, it's like bubblegum--powdered sugar and all--but instead of the generic strawberry bubblegum flavor, it's blackberry. It's really interesting, actually; I rather like it.

I'm not typically one for floral scents (I was sort of made to wear them as a kid, when I thought perfume was too girly for me, heh) but this was a frimp and I do say try everything once. So, here goes. IN THE BOTTLE: Mmm. Roses. It makes me think of white and pink roses, the sort I found up in Portland. There's also something underneath, something more...I want to say 'fermented' but that gives the wrong idea because it isn't a bad smell. It smells like wine, how's that? Wine and roses. WET: Clean, wet roses. They're not quite the kind I'd get from the florist, because those are just a little too manicured and these are just a little 'off'--like the description says. (I'd say wild roses, but I really don't think wild ones smell any different from the garden variety ) DRY: Roses, something...almost antique and wooden. (It smells exactly like a Victorian house I toured with my brother a few years ago, which earns props. I didn't think it was possible to put that into a perfume.) And dust. Yes, literally, it smells like roses, antique houses, and dust. (I like dust though. Eheh.) Hm. I still don't like florals, but I might end up keeping this imp. I'll wear it to work and see how that goes.

I was this close to selling this one off, because I'd never had opportunity to really wear it before. But then I saw it, was curious, saw frankincense (I've been on a big incense kick lately) and was even more curious. IN THE BOTTLE: flowers, resin, lots and lots of lavendar. Enough that it almost makes me dizzy. WET: It almost instantly starts to warm up, getting more and more spicy. It reminds me of when I made a flower pillow for my friend--the flowers were dry and crumbling and smelled wonderful. DRY: Sweet, dark, rich frankincense. I love frankincense. When I first moved out on my own I burned frankincense incense every morning, and when I came home from work the scent in my apartment put me instantly at ease, so this makes me very happy. Sometimes there's a waft of some spice or other, but I don't know if that's just Arcana blending with the lotion I had on, or another note I can't place. Either way, I love it. And I'm keeping it.

This was, unfortunately, the bottle that made me realize fruity blends and I are at odds. In the bottle, it's absolutely lovely. It's crisp and bright. Definitely apples underscored with roses, just a dash of something even brighter to make them all stand out. It's a very happy, uplifting perfume. ...But then on my skin it turns into the exact scent of my grandfather's soap. I remember sneaking into his bathroom when he was down in the weight room, so I could play around with all the bottles and knicknacks my grandmother had put up, and I always loved his soap because it was white and green swirled together like a peppermint bar. Except it smelled like...soap. *sighs* Well, it's a fond memory, but I don't really want to smell like this, so I'll give it to someone it'll co-operate with.

In the bottle: sweet without being overly foody, fruity without scaring me away (fruity scents and I have a rocky relationship), floral to soften things up. No ginger, sandalwood, or vanilla, so they'll probably show up on the drydown. Wet: Slightly more fruity and herbal, but not like you're in a garden...it's more like how you imagine the subjects of still-life paintings must have smelled years ago when they were being sized up and put on canvas. If that makes sense, heh. Dry: Some sort of fruit is definitely on top, but I can't tell which...the florals are tying it down so it doesn't pull the "attack of the killer (insert fruit here)" trick. Lovely. There's a fruity blend I can wear? Wearing this to work, so I'll keep tabs....

This is beautiful. I'm not even sure how informative my review will be because that about sums it up. In the imp, it was definitely dragon's milk with a very soft touch of honey. Wet, it reminded me very much of O, except without a strange overly sweet floral note that my skin likes to morph out of O...which is really, really nice. As it dries it smells like cherry and vanilla and incense smoke--like I'm eating a slice of warm cherry pie in the dark. And a few hours later it's vanilla and sweet Dragon's Blood and I am in love.

This scent is definitely refreshing and almost invigorating. It's my "that time of the month" blend, I think, because it keeps me from feeling lethargic and it's also the only scent I've tried that doesn't change drastically no matter what my hormones are up to. Up close, the grapefruit is almost astringent, but since I don't let most people press their nose right up to my wrist-neck-chest, all we get is the throw. And the throw is delicious. It's not fruity the way foody blends are, and it's not floral with the lavender the way a lot of perfumes are (thankfully! My skin does crazy things with florals). It's very pleasant and very, very unique.

This is my favorite scent of all. When I did martial arts competitions I always used green tea shower gel and body spray, but the company that made those products has since gone out of business. I got this scent hoping it would be like those. It is, but better! It's got a touch of lemon at first but that fades into just pure, lovely green tea. It makes me feel confident wearing it, reminds me of training and...ooh. I love it. 10 out of 5 stars. Because it is That Good.

This was a frimp! I like it. It reminds me of a jazzy night club in the 1930's, once the juniper/pine smell settles down and plays with the other notes. Then it's clean, sweet, a little cold, and just fun. I don't think I'd wear it all the time--just for parties or when I'm feeling nostalgic 4/5

I have this theory that I will like all of the Mad Tea Party scents. I don't know if this is because I'm just that nuts about Alice in Wonderland or what, but so far none of them have disappointed me. This? Is so tasty. I think it's my favorite scent so far. Most vanilla makes me feel sticky after I wear it, but this one is soft and a little buttery and blended just right. I made everyone smell me when I put it on. 5/5

This was another frimp from jj_j I was really surprised when I read the description...I might have bought it just because I have a soft spot for literal antique lace, but I don't like florals and linen has to be mixed with tea, a la White Rabbit. I get vanilla, and maybe a little bit of sugar, in the bottle. But once it's dry I get faint flowers--maybe the flower vanilla comes from? But it stays very pretty and "white", a little faint touch of age in it. Absolutely beautiful.

Inspired by and created for my beloved Tedwin: my eternal, beautiful, wicked Dorian Gray. Refined, elegant, and lovely, with a noble bearing and seemingly gentle air. This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea. This was a freebie from jj_j This is...wow. How did I not try this one before? It smells just like smooth lemon-custard pastries when it's dry (though on my dad and brother it kept a very sharp, citrus-vanilla-musk scent that was just as tasty). I don't think I've ever smelled anything quite as delicious.

This is SO pretty. In the bottle it's sweet, perfectly blended honey and milk before you warm it, a dash of spices tossed in for flavor. On my skin, I get just the faintest touch of something minty and clean, lots of milk and heady honey. Milk and honey is my favorite drink, so this smell reminds me of late nights with my friends, or late nights writing until the sun comes up. My brother likes it, too I think this is my favorite BPAL scent--even more than Alice, and that's been my favorite for almost a year.

This is everything it promises--cheesecake, right down to the spicy graham cracker crust. But on me, it turns very, very creamy vanilla...it's so creamy and sugary, actually, that when I wear it I feel dirty. But it smells so good I don't mind...I just wear it when I work out or go riding, and know I'm going to shower later anyway!

This is a really great scent! I tried it at work (I need things that smell strongly enough I can ignore the scent of dirty, sick animals ) and it lasted until I went to bed that night. It's rum and butterscotch in the bottle, coconut as it's just drying, then toffee and coconut and a touch of cocoa for the rest of the day.

I love cloves, and peaches, and cinnamon...I forgot about the patchoulli when I bought this! Patchoulli hates me For the first half an hour or so, it's cinnamon and clove--very strongly so, though if I try I can pick out a little tiny bit of fruit. But then it goes all soap and patchoulli. The bright side is, it's an amazing Christmas/Yule-time room scent! My apartment smelled great!

I really like this. It really does remind me of funerals--I'm going to sound so morbid, but it reminds me of peering into my friend's coffin at his viewing. You wouldn't think this would be grounds for liking a scent, but...I do. It reminds me of him and it makes me happy Ok! More detailed response. BOTTLE: *sniffsniff* Whoa, almost astringent...kind of...sinus clearing. Nwah? WET: Sweet, very faintly fruity, or maybe they're just very sweet herbs. A little touch of myrrh. DRY: Here's where it wavers between smelling like the embalmed scent when you're leaning close to someone at their viewing, and a sweet, myrrh-touched fruity scent. Very, very nice--I close my eyes and it is a scent that evokes exactly what they intended it to. Way to go, Labrats! My rating: 4
