  1. This is a wonderfully youthful and merry scent. As Judas_Kiss stated above we bought it for our daughter for her Birthday. She was mad stoked to get her own BPAL bottle versus just Imps.

In the bottle: Very sugary but I can pick up the pepper and carnation notes. It's warm and syrupy smelling.

Wet on Skin: Floral and clean with a peppery sweetness. Smells a little grown up for my tastes, but that's maybe the overprotective Daddy talking.

Dry Down: Now this is more like a very spirited and "girly" floral medley with sweet spicy under notes. Definitely an appropriate scent for my little girl. It is a youthful exuberance with a sweet floral after bite. She smells like she's been playing in the garden, or rather the garden I wish we had.

I am usually completely down to review scents that skew more feminine on myself just to provide perspective but this scent is just for her. Definitely the scent for any girl who is young at heart or young in years, who--like my daughter-- is perpetually "skipping through the daisies".

  2. This is quite possibly my favorite scent yet from Black Phoenix. Beautifully complex in it's simplicity. Right off when I twisted the cap I pictured myself on the bridge of Serenity next to Captain Malcolm Reynolds. It is the scent of the misfit, the naughty man on the raggedy edge. The scent of aiming to misbehave. It is an electric adrenaline jolt, about to fly through blood thirsty Reavers and bring hell itself down on The Alliance. Occupy is the very essence of rebellion and revolution.

When it hits my skin the patchouli is diabolically intense warming slowly and subtly with the creeping incandescence of bourbon vanilla.

A few minutes later the abject rapture of cocoa absolute peeks through the ducky haze to make it's presence felt. The tobacco note is light on my skin but adds a certain depth to the scent that is indispensable.

In dry down--where all BPAL shines the brightest for my skin chemistry--it's rock stardom, beat poetry, French Revolution, Abbie Hoffman on steroids, and one heck of a wild after glow. You can't stop the signal!

I hope it's LE status doesn't mean it will be gone before I have the chance to stock pile it. If only I could get enough of this scent I would wear it EVERY day and I don't think it would ever get old.

  3. Very good blend of honey and sweet grain. Has a very good alimentary scent. Smells kind of foody. Like a cookie maybe.

Wet: Almondy and creamy. Lot's of honey

Drydown: Very relaxing and calming. judas_kiss wore this a few times when she was pregnant and it had a very calming effect on me. :P

The kids LUURVE it! Especially the baby he was always very soothed by it and nuzzled in close when judas had it on.

  4. Azrael is the Angel of Death, marked as the last being to die in the Apocalypse. Though a harbinger of doom, his duties are an act of mercy: he curtails human life before world-weariness and despair destroys our spirits. Warm myrrh swirled with a bittersweet blend of violet, Lily of the Valley, juniper, cypess and cajeput.

Overall very sweet but there is kick from the Juniper. Mmmm very violety.

Wet: Very strong and sweet Lily of The Valley smell, light Juniper and iolet.

Drydown: Juniper comes on stronger. My body likes Juniper. This might be agood scent for a woman or someone more feminine than me. I like it, alot, but it is too floral for me.

  5. Oddly enough Paris smells like lavender and bubblegum. It is a perfect scent for little girls. Not a sexy cutting edge woman but a little girl.

It reminds me of a Monet painting, watery and pretty.

My wifeand I took one sniffof this and gave it to the 5 year old. Not because it is childish but because it is inherently innocent.

  6. Sampled this at the Meet n Sniff in Chicago, Nearly stole it from Bard but he beat my ass and took it back.

Wet: Very earthy! Very earthy indeed. Dirty and dingy down and dirty baby! Sexy. The red wine note(s) are hot! I wanna teh sexxor!

Drydown: Best summed up in song...

"If I Close My Eyes Forever" by Ozzy Osbourne (featuring Lita Ford)

Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand

Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy?

Heaven, is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you

What am I supposed to do with a childhood tradgedy?

If I close my eyes forever

    Would it all remain unchanged?

If I close my eyes forever

Would it all remain the same?

Sometimes, its hard to hold on, so hard to hold on to my dreams

It isn't always what it seems when you're face to face with me

Like a dagger you stick me in the heart and taste the blood from my blade

And when we sleep would you shelter me in your warm and darkened grave?

    <snip>

    Verdict: Must have!

  7. This scent has some notes I am not used to like rue, hawthorn and clover. I think I like them.

Wet: Dark orchids, irish moss, some mysterious notes and the sweetness of apple. It smells rather nice.

Drydown: Thsi is the scent of a scorned lover who creeps into your room while you are sleeping, peels the covers back and molests you leaving you to wake up feeling violated and cheap in the morning.

  8. I am bummed judas_kiss doesn't like this scent because it is Hot, hot, hot! She doesn't really get along with rose scents.

This is a smoky syrupy darkness. When I smell it I am willed and compelled to serve.

Wet: smoky, very smoky and dried flowers, plum and berry.

Drydown: This dries into a very dark sinister sexuality. I imagine this is very close to how the countess would have smelled. It is macabre and it is engaging and deliciously evil.

  9. I don't like posting negative reviews so when I don't like something I just clam up.

Djinn is a love/hate relationship. It smells really good on me but for some reason I don't like it.

It is too dark for me maybe. Which makes no sense because I wear darker more wicked evil and sinister scents. I don't know. Sniffing it with my eyes closed gives me the impression of inky blackness darker than night.

It is powerfully erotic but it just doesn't work for me.

  10. This is a dragony spicy indecence.

Wet: Dark and gloomy, sinister and seductive. This stuff is hot and snakey sexy.

Drydown: Another scent that starts great and the vetiver makes it suck on my skin. Vetiver is a hit and miss for me. When it's good its really, really good and when it's bad its awful!

Verdict: :P Why won't it work.

  11. I get the notion that this is a very "White Oleander" musky sexy scent. I really love this scent. It is spicy and seductive in a sultry, Marlene Dietrich sort of way.

Wet: Citrusy sweet orangey florals with a musk back.

Drydown: Oh that is sexy! Musky and sultry with cruel intentions. This scent makes me think of big breasted lesbian dominatrixes. Don't ask...

Verdict: Yummy must field test on judas_kiss. By field test I mean put this fragrance on her neck and take her to bed. :P

  12. Very chilly scent, cold, cold. Reminds me of the woman in the "join Me" video by H.I.M.

    In The Bottle: Alka-Seltzer?

Wet on Skin: Mmm definite airy aquatic scent. Like bitter driving snow backed by slashing rain. The kind of New England weather where you get snow, rain and lightning at the same time. The flowery scent is not there. Gives me chills.

Drydown: A ha there are the flowers. This is a pretty scent. Kind of sexy in a ball busting ice queen sort of way. It scares me a little.

  13. Milk and honey and rose oh my! This is a sweet scent definitely a good young woman scent. Maybe a teenage girl but not a woman.

Wet: This is a very light milky, honey sweet scent. The bergamot is nowhere to be found, drowned out by the sweet honey, rose and milky notes.

Drydown: This scent is, as stated above, not a sexy "come here baby" kind of scent but a definite maybe for meeting the boyfriend's folks or for a younger girl. Very youthful scent.

  14. A feisty bouquet of golden, warm, gently honeyed lilies.

This is a great little girl scent. Lilies and honey. Sweet and innocent not at all sexy not at all.

Wet: Sweet honey like Burt's Bees honey scent.

Drydown: Warms up nicely the lily scent comes through. Very little girl. judas_kiss and I let Claire, our 5 year old, wear it. It suits her. Very pretty and light.

  15. Holy schmoly! I never reviewed this?

Well Iago was the first scent I tried and it was back before I was on the forum. I swore I would never wear anything but Bvlgari Black but look at me now. Now I won't wear anything BUT BPAL.

Iago is dark! Sadistic, dark, sinister and domineering.

Like judas_kiss said a few pages back. This turns to powder on me. It sucks too because I so, SO, so desperately wanted it to be awesome!

Wet: I get the leather, dark sinuous black musk too. It smells so fucking male and sadistic and leathery and hot and manly and just powerful! I feel like I am Iago!

Drydown: Where is TEH SEXXOR gone? It smells like powder. Darn vetiver is too strong in this blend. My skin grabs it, slaps it around and pile drives it into the ground. The vetiver retalliates by murdering the leather, musk and everything good and leaving only a powder note behind.

Nearly caught up on reviews, nearly.

This was another scent that went to Ben. Ben is the devil as I have said in past reviews. Everything I can't wear he can. It smells TEH SEXXORCISTO on him because he is Satan. I hope you read this someday Baal because I am on to you!

  16. I can NOT believe I have not reviewed this yet! Bad Mikey!

Oh this devilish little sinful blend makes me all weak kneed and happy pantsy!

When judas_kiss puts this on I am instantly aroused. TMI, TMI! I don't care. Warm desert breezes, spices musk, carnation, cassia eat 'em up yum! Oompa loompa duppity doo!

In The Bottle: Very warm and sultry in a sneaky demure lady on the street/whore in the bedroom sort of way. I imagine a beautiful courtesan who beguiles men with her snakey movements and lures them back to her budoir and takes their money in exchange for her intense, passionate, earth shattering, mind blowing, body breaking, head pounding, brain numbing, pulse thumping, good lovin' body rockin' knockin' boots all night long! I get warming sandalwood and carnation.

Wet On Skin: Mmmm this is just making me dizzy almost and light headed in an "I want to fuck you right now judas" sort of way. This one makes me all faint and "I do believe I caught the vapors". Yummy spicy musky horny sex Goddess!

Drydown: This blend positively exudes raw sex appeal. I am ready to run all the way home, several miles, to jump judas_kiss' bones just thinking about how good this blend smells.

Ver-Dick-t: There should be a warning label on this because if you put it on some man somewhere will fuck you. Better hope it's someone you want to have sex with nearby because this stuff is volatile! YeeeeeHAAAAW!

  17. A scent pulsing with vitality, warmth and insurmountable strength: dragon's blood resin, red and black musks, a throb of fig and a sliver of black currant.

Mmm fig infused blood. Tasty blood feast!

I loved this scent. It didn't love me. So I kicked it to the curb. It went to my friend Ben who gets everything that doesn't work on me. Everything I have given him has always worked. He is the devil. I loathe him.

Anyway in the bottle this scmells very swimmy and dreamy like a really upscale head shop. Cinnamon and dragon's blood inscence. Yum!

Drydown in the drydown somewhere this turned powdery on me. Smells great on Ben though because he is the devil.

  18. Awww this is a very sweet demure scent. At first when I read the name I joked to myself about Wayne's World where the Vacuum guy says his hair vacuum "sucks and cuts" and Wayne says "Well it certainly does suck". I thought ChupaRosa means sucks roses. "It certainly does suck" Now I had not smelled it yet so to be fair I tried it.

Well just like in my review of Baku this scent brought back memories of my childhood neighborhood.

In The Bottle: Warm roses and honeysuckle. Innocence, childlike and virginal. Very sweet and noble.

Wet on Skin: Block parties back on Sheridan in Encinitas. A comination of my mom's rose bushes, reds, white, yellow, peach, plum colored and our neighbor Dotties Honeysuckle bushes. I used to sit in my tree fort and smell the honeysuckle merge with the rose smell merging with the sappy pine of the tree in my Mom's yeard back in Encinitas, CA. Oh Gods if I close my eyes I am 6 years old again.

Drydown: Warm calming memories. Rosy warmth and sweet honey. Beautiful scent. Brings tears to me eyes. Very sweet.

  19. I love this. It is not an appropriate everyday scent. I bet it would make one awesome soap though or a room scent.

Wet On Skin: Apple cider, honey, cinnamon--soothing

Drydown: Warm and inviting, like a neighbros house around the holidays.

"Have a some apple cider Mike"

    "Don't mind if I do"

    "Have you met Ted?"

    "No I have not"

"Ted is an investment banker who loves your ideas"

"Well how fucking excellent is that bro?"

    "I know!"

  20. Whatever is in this, it's evil magicks work.

It fades fast but does the trick. It soothes me, and that isn;t easy. I am a Pisces so if you heat my water expect shark-like attack Mr. Pistoffolees Style!

Wet On Skin: As soon as this touches my skin it starts working its calming ju ju. I can't tell what the notes are expressly. Herby and kind of talcumish.

Drydown: The scent is swallowed up by my skin and gone almost immediately. Appropos enough so is my stress.

  21. Too bad this has Civet. Civet and I do NOT get along.

In The Bottle: Civety cedar with civet on top of smokey civet

Wet on Skin: Maybe this will be OK. Maybe the Civet won't react with my skin and turn into a smell which can only be summed up as "Hot Rum-buttered Buggery with a Side Order of Dirty Sanchez" I like it as it goes on. This is raw animal passion. It is a dog headed man deity like Anubis hammering away at some sacrifical virgin's hymen. It is raw sex, plain and simple.

Drydown: Caca y mierda! Again my betraying flesh has taken a really hot smoky primal and feral scent and turned it into "Hot Rum-buttered Buggery with a Side Order of Dirty Sanchez". Damn my skin. I had to wash it off. Even after I washed it off it was still there and it made me queasy. I wish I could wear civet because it is positively beastial!

Verdict: Another gimp for my friend Ben. Fucker can wear civet without a problem. Here is what it smells like on Ben.

Wet on Ben's Skin: This is raw animal passion. If I weren;t straight... It is a dog headed man deity like Anubis hammering away at some sacrifical virgin's hymen. It is raw animal passion, period.

Drydown on Ben's Skin: That is fucking hot. Go away before I go gay. :P

  22. This scent is totally awesome! I put this on the kids before bed hoping Baku will keep them from having nightmares in the first place. :P

This is very Eucalyptus which to me brings back very fond memories. In my old neighborhood, in Encinitas, CA, on Sheridan street. If you go down to the end of the "street" well there is actually a private driveway that serves a couple houses. Wasn't like that when I was a kid though. So I guess I should say if you could get to the end there are a bunch of Eucalyptus trees growing along the bank leading down to the lagoon. I use to sit there for hours and just stare across highway 101 at Ponto Beach and watch sunsets and sunrises like all summer long back in those days. I could always smell the strongest and most soothing eucalyptus and grassy dry woods. There was an old rope swing where if you swung far enough out you would see only the cold water of the lagoon if you laid on your stomach and kicked hard enough you could swear you were flying. Baku is all those memories flooding back.

It brings back too many childhood memories to wear all the time but I absolutely love it!

  23. I think the fact that I can't really pick out any individual scent notes in this is a testament to how well it all blends.

Wet and Dry: Drinking apple cider on a slighty chilly Autumn day in Napa Valley. That is what this scent is. I hope the people who live in California's "Wine Country" don't mind us jacking the deliciousness that is the very air and fragrance of the grapes they take for granted. This is like pies cooling in windows and children playing ring around the rosy with smudgey faces, leaves blowing across green perfectly manicured lawns from deep valleys and wide fields of grapes.

Verdit: Must have... big bottle... frimp won't last. Very nostalgic and soothing scent.

  24. This is a wondrous scent. I got it as a frimp from a very sweet forumite.

Wet on Skin: Lovely patchouli and orangey scent. The blend on me smells like a feminine counterpart to Dracul. The spicy cardamom, muguet and Gardenia blend very well together. Snacky!

Drydown: Too feminine for me but compliments Dracul well as a femine counter part. I layered with a little Dead Man's Hand today and it smells pretty good, still too chicky though.

  25. I just got a bottle of this and since I am catching up on my reviews here we go.

Oh my fucking God this roxxor!

Wet on Skin: Having spent time around horses and tack rooms I can confirm that yes, in the bottle and on first application this smells like horse tack and harness. I keep playing Garth Brook's "Rodeo" over and over in my head.

    Garth Brooks -- "Rodeo"

His eyes are cold and restless

    His wounds have almost healed

And she'd give half of Texas

Just to change the way he feels

She knows his love's in Tulsa

And she knows he's gonna go

Well it ain't no woman flesh and blood

    It's that damned old rodeo

    Well it's bulls and blood

    It's dust and mud

It's the roar of a Sunday crowd

It's the white in his knuckles

    The gold in the buckle

He'll win the next go 'round

    It's boots and chaps

    It's cowboy hats

    It's spurs and latigo

It's the ropes and the reins

And the joy and the pain

And they call the thing rodeo

She does her best to hold him

When his love comes to call

But his need for it controls him

And her back's against the wall

And it's So long girl I'll see you

When it's time for him to go

You know the woman wants her cowboy

    Like he wants his rodeo

    Well it's bulls and blood

    It's dust and mud

It's the roar of a Sunday crowd

It's the white in his knuckles

    The gold in the buckle

He'll win the next go 'round

    It's boots and chaps

    It's cowboy hats

    It's spurs and latigo

It's the ropes and the reins

And the joy and the pain

And they call the thing rodeo

    It'll drive a cowboy crazy

    It'll drive the man insane

And he'll sell off everything he owns

Just to pay to play her game

And a broken home and some broken bones

Is all he'll have to show

For all the years that he spent chasin'

    This dream they call rodeo

    Well it's bulls and blood

    It's dust and mud

It's the roar of a Sunday crowd

It's the white in his knuckles

    The gold in the buckle

He'll win the next go 'round

    It's boots and chaps

    It's cowboy hats

    It's spurs and latigo

It's the ropes and the reins

And the joy and the pain

And they call the thing rodeo

It's the broncs and the blood

It's the steers and the mud

And they call the thing rodeo

Drydown: Mmm you know what this smells like over time. Wealthy, stinking rich people's leather. It smells like the coat section of Marshall Fields. It smells like money! I abso-fucking-lutely love this fragrance!
