  1. I am in love with BPAL's plum note. :wub2: Many of my fellow BPAL addicts suggested that I try to find a decant/imp of Queen of Spades. This seems to be almost impossible. I have also been told that Blood Countess is very similar to Queen of Spades... unfortunately Blood Countess is discontinued.

Please tell me there is hope and that there is a current GC that is similar to Queen of Spades.

  2. I am in love with Makhanitis and Prospero. :wub2:

The plum and wine notes make me swoon. I must have more BPAL oils that are similar to Makhanitis and Prospero.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Those scents are two of my favorites. The one I found to be the closest to Makhanitis, if you like patchouli, is Urd, in the Excolo line of the GC: Muscadine, black and red patchouli, cereus and nag champa. Urd is more headshoppy than Makhanitis, but I find the wine note very similar.

Also, if you don't mind some chocolate, another one I really like is Centzon Totochtin , also a GC in Excolo: The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood.

And another good wine scent is the LE The Zadok Allen Vineyard, which was a Lupercalia scent, but decants show up for sale on the forums fairly often. A deep velvety Cabernet Sauvignon with hints of plum, black cherry, rose petals, coffee bean, and smoky oak. Barrel and bottle aged, with a smooth and spicy hit mid-palate. Hints of Dagon's tarry black incense and clotted blood complete this well-rounded, robust indulgence.

You and I are definitely scent sisters! :wub2:

I love Urd and Centzon Totochtin. I have not had the chance to try The Zadok Allen Vineyard, but would love to give it a try.

    Thank you for your suggestions!

  3. Spreadsheet is updated with all the new delights (Batty, #occupywallstreet, etc.) :wub2:

I'm happy to email a copy, or the link to the GoogleDoc is in my signature below for downloading or perusing. Sorry if it was only a preview the last time I linked it! It's set up for shared access now :P

    Thank you!

  4. Hi all, I'm lost without Hackess' awesome spreadsheet! I followed the template she uses and made a spreadsheet of things released by the Lab since her last entry of Bony Moon. The link is below if anyone wants to add the entries to their copy of Hackess' spreadsheet. It looks a little weird since it's up there as a google doc, but if you cut and paste it into regular old Excel it goes into the correct format. Let me know if I forgot something or if it doesn't work! :)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was lost without Hackess' spreadsheet too! Thank you again! You are a lifesaver!

  5. Hey all, just a heads up - I've been super busy with work and will be traveling out of the country for a few days starting tomorrow, but I'll get the spreadsheet updated by the end of next week.

I hope that all is well with you Hackess. :D Is there an available copy of the updated spreadsheet?

  6. Anyone out there waiting on a CnS from around 04/05/11?

I am just a little concerned.. I usually order using CCNow. I decided to submit my payment via PayPal for this order. I noticed that others have received a CnS for orders placed a week or more after mine.

I can now answer my own question. It looks like Magic, Do As You Will is temporarily on backorder. Is there a thread on the forum that lists the current backorders?

  7. Boo for marshmallow. It's a Halloweenie limited edition but you can check around the sales/swaps for a decant or bottle. It does have a bit of a cotton/linen note along with the marshmallow, but I think it levels out the sweetness. Another good marshmallow perfume is White Chocolate, Coconut and Marshmallow Truffle which is also LE but harder to find.

As far as the chocolate cake, there is a lovely chocolate recommendation thread here. :D

Thank you for your recommendations :D

  8. It makes me think of the Doormouse: sweet, opaque, pink vanilla. I would say Eat Me, just based on the description, but to me Eat Me is spicy and dark-it dosn't smell PINK, more like spiced cooked berries.

Thank you for your recommendation ;)

Can anyone recommend a BPAL scent that smells similar to Crispy Marshmallow Bars and/or Classic Fudge Cake?

  9. I really dig Tezcatlipoca and if you can find it, Ghoul Hooligan (one of my FAVES EVER). Ein Kuss Von Krampus is a nice sweetly spiced scent on me and Velvet is awesome too.

Is there a chocolate and red musk scent I am missing out on? Those are two of myf ave BPAL notes.

If you like blood musk...I would recommend The Tell-Tale Heart. Blood Musk and Cocoa :yum:

Tell-Tale Heart: This is a swollen, pulsating, thudding scent, heavy with dread; a steady, unceasing, throbbing harbinger of retribution and doom: blood musk, cocoa, black pepper, allspice, dragon's blood resin and vetiver.

  10. I have always used CCNow for all of my lab orders. I want to make sure I have all of the correct information. If we place an order using paypal- we do not have to add tax to the total, correct? Do we just calculate cost of items + shipping?

  11. Do we pay sales tax now? Or is CCNow wonky at the moment?

In my BPAL shopping cart - the first page reflects the amount without sales tax. On the second page, you enter your shipping info. The third page (where you also enter cc information) takes you to a confirmation that lists the items you're ordering along with the total again. This time, though, it includes sales tax.

Any updates regarding this question? Are we paying sales tax on California orders? Thanks.
