    Pomegranate II

This is a very fresh, citrus-y perfume with the lemon and grapefruit notes being quite pronounced in the opening. PomII is very light and airy, very summery. I could see myself wearing this a lot in the warmer weather as it's so cheerful and uplifting. It certainly doesn't feel like a Halloween scent to me, it's far to fruity and happy. Over the wear of PomII the citrus notes quieten and let the namesake shine through. It wears wonderfully, albeit not the most long lasting perfume in history. I ran both scents by the boy and he favours the sweet, fruity scents so Pomegranate was a winner with him. Not that this clouds my judgment, I regularly wear perfumes that he hates

    Boo

There's nothing eerie about this light and fluffy vanilla-cream scent. It's pretty but not wildly unique, which I find unusual given my experience with BPAL scents is normally the opposite. There's a hint of burned, caramelised sugar laying at the bottom of this sweet, desert-like scent that adds a hint of warmth. Boo seems inspired by the candied-treats of the modern Halloween tradition rather than the darker historical past. It feels milky and lolly-like, a cute and fun scent but not something I would ever really wear myself. It feels a little juvenile to be honest. Nice, but not enough for me to purchase.

    The Shadowy And The Sublime

Such an interesting scent! There is a wonderful dream-like haze about TS&TS; which fills the nostrils with an intoxicating warmth and sweetness. Although the above descriptions lists a lot of flower notes I don't find this to be overly floral at all. It's warm and smooth, much like the feeling of heat in your throat after a long, slow sip of liqueur. I get a lot of amber on my skin and a light, powdery veil of flowers mixed in with the wonderful myrrh note. There's something almost primal about this scent, it's feels old without smelling old-fashioned. I love that there's a slight animalistic undertone, which surfaces every now and then but doesn't make the fragrance feel musty or 'skanky.' For some reason I think of smoke when I smell this, not fire smoke but the curling tendril of smoke that burns from an incense stick. It's haze, romantic and conjures a state of drugged haziness. It's totally evocative and sexy in the most unusual way.

    Snooty Rose

At first Snooty Rose is big and lush. The juicy plum note makes the dominant rose note shine on my skin, it's a very realistic rose scent. The opening is bright and evocative thanks to a small but effective amount of bergamot, which prevents the rose from feeling too heavy. At this early stage Snooty Rose is dewy and fresh. As Snooty Rose wears on it develops a dark, mysterious edge that is lacking in many rose fragrances on the market today. It's the musky sandalwood base that gives Snooty Rose this sheer, darkened overtone. In keeping with BPAL's style Snooty Rose is a romantic fragrance with just a hint of gothic mystery. It makes me think of black chiffon and red foiled chocolates, the kind of noir romance that is often sorely lacking in real life.

    The Queen of Hearts

Queen of Hearts bursts forth with a medicinal cherry opening, it's tart, sweet and reminds me of childhood medicine. There's nothing candy-like about this opening, the cherry feels almost astringent. In true BPAL fashion it's a little quirky and unexpected, although it feels very red which is fitting for its inspiration. Soon after, however, Queen of Hearts fades into a softer white floral. There is a soft and almost powdery lily scent that accompanies the cherry as it fades. Strangely the lily is quite gentle, perhaps not befitting of a Queen that screams 'Off with her head!' By the mid-stages this perfume is a bouquet of sweet lilies, all elegance and regal poise. I don't really see the connection between the inspiration and the scent, however that doesn't stop me enjoying Queen of Hearts. As a small complaint I must point out that the lasting power isn't fantastic on this one, however it's pretty until the very end where is remains as a musky skin-scent with just a hint of white flowers.

    Ghoulish

Upon reading this description I mentally dismissed Ghoulish; why? Because it features my fragrance nemesis: Coconut. Coconut and I DO NOT get along the majority of the time, I find it sickly, over-powering and often cheap smelling. In Ghoulish, however, coconut has met it's match! Heady almond steals the show with it's sweet friend cherry. The coconut is there but it's subtle, quite and subdued. It's like drinking amaretto from a crystal liquor glass and nibbling on a cherry-topped coconut macaroon, it's sweet and desert-like but in a more sophisticated way than you'd expect. Ghoulish is lovely...unexpectedly so

    Come to Me

Come to Me is a gentle, powdery scent reminiscent of old French milled soaps. It has a wonderfully soapy cleanness to it without bringing to mind detergent or laundry powder - it doesn't smell artificial like detergent does. It has an almost baby powder feel but there are faint, pale pink roses in the back ground. I don't get any of the 'herbal' notes that other reviewers have mentioned, it's powder with a lsight floral undertone on my skin. At times you can barely smell it but every so often your nose will catch but the faintest glimpse of rosewater and luxuriously perfumed soap. It's the scent of 'just showered' and a fresh yet ever so fancy skin-scent. I makes me feel soft and dainty, ultra-feminine yet not sexy as the BPAL description implies; in fact I feel the BPAL description is completely at odds with the actual scent as it has the opposte effect for me. It's almost innocent smelling, I guess because of the child-like connection to baby powder. However; it's beautiful and almost ethereal in it's development. It's a very faint scent on me and staying power isn't all that great, however I have managed to fall completely in love with it with Come to Me and I think this may just be worth of a full bottle.

    Croquet

Wet: The fruity explosion that is the opening of Croquet is dense, golden and syrupy - I know so many people say this smells 'pink' but to my it's like a warm ray of golden sunshine! Depsite the notes listing it's far from citrusy on my skin. The opening is fresh but balmy, there's a slight tangy feel from the grapefruit but without any of the sourness that often accompanies it. Unfortunately the rose is almost undetectable on me, only occasionally will I catch the faintest whisper of flowers. Croquet is all about the fruit. Drydown: This cheerful scent wears well and the sweetness fades into a slightly herbal, creamy base of very faint patchouli and musk. Croquet retains it's golden, cheerful light well into the dry down. Overall: I can see myself wearing Croquet in the midst of a warm summer night whilst drinking green and yellow cocktails. A nice scent but not FB worthy for me, I will however continue to use my imp.
