Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

This is all really great info! I'm pretty sensitive to scents and have been known to ask people at work not to wear a certain perfume or use a certain detergent because it gave me headaches. I feel rather good just for finally getting up the gumption to buy some imps for the first time (I was a wee bit tipsy, lol) considering my sensitivity. So far so good! I did have a slight reaction today to The Witch's Garden, though. I got a bit of a rash at the base of my throat but nowhere else (wrists, elbow pits, behind ears). Considering the hives I've suffered through recently while getting allergy shots, this was small potatoes. It was still irritating, though. I'm definitely going to consider carrier oils or unscented lotion in the future for some scents/areas. I am allergic to most weeds, so there was probably something in The Witch's Garden that just didn't agree with me. I'm also allergic to horses (I have no idea why my ENT tests for horses), but I don't think I'll have to worry about that with BPAL. ETA: Everything I've tried has given me contact dermatitis. I guess I'll be diluting. I have had some success with scenting my clothes and hair...so all is not lost.

    The Witch's Garden

In the imp: Green, almost foody. Like green veggies. Wet on skin: Herbal with a little sage-y bite. Carrots! Dried and settled: Very prettily floral. Smells like late spring when the jasmine around here blooms. Still an herbal undertone. Overall:I think very special and beautiful things are going on in this garden. It does't smell like the garden of a witch that would demand payment of a child for a few veggies. I love this scent!

    Embalming Fluid

In the imp: very lemony but the musk keeps it from smelling like a lemon drop. Wet on skin: bright lemon, light and fresh without smelling like floor cleaner. Drying: the brightness warmed up considerably. I get more astringency, like an herbally green tea. Dried and settled: lots of aloe! Smells like having a sunburn! It's not unpleasant - herbal and clean. A good summer scent. I'm wearing it at work right now and it doesn't feel out of place. Overall: Agreeable. Fresh and green smelling. I miss the musk on my skin, but it's still nice.

    Defututa

In the imp: Spicy, boozy, and bright. Wet on skin: Egads, it smells like too-floral old-lady perfume! Somehow too bright and a little dusty at the same time (dusty may be associated with decrepit old ladies, lol). Drying: It's starting to warm up - I can smell the vanilla and honey. I still smell the floral, but maybe the old lady getting younger/hipper as it dries. I can only barely catch the jasmine (when my wrist is all up in my nose, lol) and none of the sandalwood. I'll edit in a few hours after it's completely dried and settled, but as it stands now this will not be a full-bottle purchase. ETA: So I found out I probably went a little overboard applying it. I dabbed a little off and it stopped assaulting my sinuses and became pleasantly feminine and sweet, with a bit of spice. I'll try it again (with gentle dabs, not slathers) before I make a final decision. ETA again: This is a big old no. My sinuses just don't like it. To the swaps wit' ye!

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

First BPAL scent ever (for me)! In the bottle: Sweet and fruity. I thought it was going to be too sweet for me. Wet on skin: I kept getting this toasty vanilla or caramel whiff. Couldn't smell the fruit. Pleasant nonetheless. Not too sweet as I'd feared. Dry on skin: Voluptuous and a little spicy. The fruitiness came back and the toasty warm whiff stayed. Overall, I really like it. I love how I keep getting little snatches of scent each time I move. ETA: I wore this a few days later and all I got was OMG SUPERGRAPE. I was disappointed because it was nowhere near as spicy and complex as before. I loved it so much the first time, though, so I won't give up on it yet. ETA again: I now have to wear all these scents on my clothes and in my hair because I break out if I wear them on my skin. Anyhoo, this smells as good as it did the first time when I do that. Yay! No more OMG SUPERGRAPE!
