Lime. Limety-lime-lime. I like lime in my margiritas, but not in perfume. I keep trying these tuberose blend for that creamy white floral, but I am learning it is gardenia that is my flower. I don't know if it is the jasmine with the lime, but this is sour...a really sour floral. Not for me.

The most natural or lifelike scents?

Black Opal is very much like a "stone" scent. It literally smells like a very cool rock. Quite amazing. Zombi is dead on roses and dirt...very creepy. Many have said O is very like p*&$y (including my DH!) That is pretty darn natural!

    Pride

Very, very STRONG rose. It smothers the narcissus, which is the reason I tried this scent in the first place. Oh, well, I have Hunger and she is all I really need in the narcissus department.

    Aglaea

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fae, and it is a fluke that I do because I am not fond of peach as a note. I have finally tried Aglaea, because I am an amber, white musk, and booze fan, and the herbs sounded a bit like those in Fae, so, why not? It's the peach wine. It is just too much. It is like a springtime Jack to my nose. The peach is in the forefront and does not QUIT (!!@#$@%). The musk attempts to hold the other notes together, but Peachy is the boss here.

    Euphrosyne

Wet this is quite green and fresh. The tea rose is the inital dominant floral, but this is not Grandma's tea rose. The jasmine emerges with a bit of a sour note, but it is quickly overshadowed by the creamy, white gardenia and sweet, vicious vanilla! It is very lively but sophisticated. This is the beautiful woman at the tea party with the big ribboned hat and lace gloves. This is my Spring vanilla. PS: Dry, this is so very like Sacred Whore, but with more vanilla. Whoa.

    Oisin

Many, many thanks to the great forumite that presented me with this beauty! Upon application, it is a bit like (gasp!) Irish Spring, but it dries down quickly to a bunch of complex fresh florals and clean white musk. It reminds me of Zephyr without the citrusey bite. I think this is a great scent for DH and me to roll in together in the warmer months to come.

    Bon Vivant

Sparkely, boozy strawberry. If Bordello were a cheaper whore, this would be it! ADDED 1/30/09: Blech. Sicky sweet/sour/nasty. Smells like a strawberry airfreshner. Thanks, though.

    Cobra Lily

Sharp, heady and viciously carnivorous. This is Tiger Liliy's slinky older sister. Since Snake Oil is my all time favorite, I love lilies, (and secretly wish the Sorting Hat had put me in Slytherine) I had to try this baby, with her snakey reference. I am not disappointed. It is sweet and fresh with a spicy bite. No sneezy soap smell here. This may be my favorite BPAL floral.

The search for "Clean" scents - general discussion

Bewitched (green tea and blackberries) and Phanotom Queen (apple blossoms and herbs which smell to me like the damp, spring forrest floor) are my favorite "clean wood's" scent, though they remind me of naughty encounters in the woods rather than wood itself! Fae is also LOVELY! It is my favorite "clean" scent. The bergamot makes it so, but it is also very sexy with white musk, peach, and oakmoss (again, a bit like forrest floor...not exactly wood). What a wonderful friend you are to enable!

Looking for BPAL that resembles a Body Shop scent

An LE, I know, but Luperci is clean and woody musk. Very masculine to my nose. A tad of honey dry, but not too sweet. It is DH's new fave.

    Luperci

Very woody, with that clean juniper edge (too much for my sweet taste, but RIGHT up DH's ally~I have his top 10 listed in my sig as well, if you want to compare tastes). The ambrette and musk combination is very masculine and sexual...quite a natural "man sex" smell, I think, without being overpowering. A deep, slightly sweet finish with the honey. This is DIVINE on my man. I am so glad I got some at the last minute!

A perfume of mystery, of whispers, and of secrets behind secrets. White sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang.<!-- bpal scent end --></i></div> Very dry and herbal initially, not the creamy breath of white floral I was hoping for. Lavender, lavender, lavender. Wah. Reminds me of YSL Paris, a bit. For a whisper of a floral, I'm going with Ouija.

    Wrath

Dragon's blood is funny on me...I don't know if I like the oil or not it or not. When I use the resin in ritual work, it smells...resinous...smoky. The oil, though, is so SWEET, and almost salty, too. Wrath is giving me mostly dragon's blood with a little spicy kick. A bit of pepper~I really wanted it to make me sneeze! If I want sweet and spicy, I'll be wearing Chimera.

    Sophia

Initially this is super lavender...very herbal and fresh. Whoa. On the drydown, a hint of dark rose emerges with a little citrus...hmmm, and a tiny bit of spicy. I am thinking Harlot, but not as strong with the rose. The jasmine is sweet, a little sharp, but beautiful with the spice and musk...very unique. Dried out it is a fresh, floral powdery musk, but there is something slighty vinegary..is that the jasmine? DH hates florals, but notices that the musk is holding all of it down. It is like Gauko and Phantom Queen's baby. If Chimera is my end of the winter scent, than Sophia follows close behind. I don't know if I'll keep her yet, though: The musk is not as forward as I'd like. Phantom Queen's apple note is what I love the best about that floral/herbal blend. We'll have to wait and see.

    The smell of night

Moonrose. My garden at night in the summer...it is really the only thing that I like about summer...too much sun, ya know?

    Melon scents?

Eris smells like watermelons to me.
  18. I love Snake Oil, and wear it nearly everyday, despite my collection. I am pulling out the Skuld (ylang ylang and honey) and Fae (peach and creamy white musk) for the occasional Spring fling, though. Tiger Lily is one of my favorite light florals, too; It is a delicate sweet honey on me. Edit to add Ouija...though I like to wear it in the Winter. It is light, white rose, but quite dusty with the woods. It is the only "dry" BPAL I love.
  19. How about Peitho, the Ghost, or Ouija?

The Bow & Crown of Conquest

I think this is quite like Perversion (DH's #2 fave) but with a bright top note and a delicious drydown...mmm, vanilla and white musk with LEATHER. How could it be more sexy?

    Sudha Segara

Very gingery when wet. As it dries, it becomes slighty fruity, and a little creamy, but the ginger stays very sharp. It is not as sweet or milky as I anticipated. It reminds me a bit of White Rabbit, but not as complex.
  22. lookingglass

    Baghdad

This is like a more complex Chimera on me. Very spicy cinnamon with a sweetness underneath that must be the amber. I don't detect any citrus or rose; OK, it gets a little bit powdery at the end~that may be the rose.
  23. lookingglass

    Black Opal

Going on this does smell quite like a mineral, almost astringent, but natural...like a wet mineral. What IS that? Lavender, violet? Drying down, it becomes sweet and round with vanilla and white musk. It is everything that I had hoped Antique Lace would be~sweeter and softer, but more sophisticated. I think I could wear this anytime, anywhere. It is cool, but fiery. Much like my beloved Snow White but much more sophisticated.

    Sacred Whore of Babylon

An ancient formula that inspires unrepentant decadence, lechery and debauch. Out of the bottle this is sweet and strange...is that flowers or dragon's blood swirling in confusion? As soon as it hits my skin, it becomes so creamy and delicious (amber? vanilla?), with a hint of spice and a wiff of a white floral. I have been searching for a BPAL with a creamy white floral (gardenia, tuberose...) and this is IT. It reminds me of Michael Kors (tuberose and incense notes) but BPAL~ed and SO MUCH BETTER!!!! This scent evokes strong visuals of alters to the Sacred Whore: feminine icons surrounded by offerings of sweet cakes, candles, incense, and adorned with flowers. It is both delicate and seductive, the virgin and the whore. This makes me think of a lighter, less festivious DDLM. It is multilayered, breathtaking, and so...special. Big bottle list for sure.
