  1. Although I generally run screaming from florals, something said I had to give this one a chance. I did a light testing the day I got my bottles, and this one was the one my nose kept getting drawn to so it gets the honor of the first full day run :)

In the bottle: slightly aquatic floral.

Wet on the skin: Definitely a rich orchid note (my favorite flower) backed buy a subtle incense note. The aquatic 'feel' is present, if not an actual note.

Dry: seeming to be equal tandums of orchids and incense. They blend so beautifully together they seem seamless. This is a moderate throw on my skin, but I agree with the earlier posts that this will probably waft wonderfully on hot humid summer nights. This is a subtle sexy. A mysterious sexy. Something you wear when your out at night, wearing an open back dress, and you want to draw a guys attention not in a 'putting it all out there' sort of way, but in a subtle lure sort of way.

Ever so grateful to my fairy for the pick up. This blend is absolutely beautiful, and I know if I see it up for sale I won't hesitate to grab another bottle.

After testing all my bats, this is my favorite. Top 5 for sure!!!!

Awww bleeding hell. This is tied for first with Ghoulish. A truly exotic and gorgeous scent. I can't seem to stopped adding praise.

  2. This was the winner of the bottle arrivals today, and from first sniff catupulted itself into my top ten!

Nommy fermented Apple cider with heady ginger and probably other spices. Tremendous throw, a little goes a long way (in the Jack category for that!). Delicious, and making me crave the hard Apple ciders I drink in the fall. So glad this is general catalog, I will be buying this often!

  3. Never smelled lilac fuegere before, but I like it!

Overall this blend strikes me as ethereal and light, I do get the musk, tonka, leather and lilac, no one more dominate then the other. Very sensual and evocative of Jareth, with a touch of wistful longing in it. Not overpowering or long wearing, but I bet it will age well.

Edit: wore this today for the first all day run, and I LOVE the Oud/Tonka drydown combo! Smokey and warm, and deeply yummy. :)

    A winner!

  4. Inspired by the character Grendel-Prime.

A heavy-metal cyborg, created by the Grendel-Khan to act as a paladin protector for his only son and heir, an unstoppable killing machine.

Gleaming metal and black leather over a khus-darkened bay rum.

In the bottle- Calvin Klein Eternity for men? Nearly a dead ringer.

Wet on the skin, more metal aspect comes out, not much rum, unless that's the Khus I am smelling. Leather in the background. Giving me fond memories of hot make out sessions with past boyfriends http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/icon_smile.gif

Dry on skin- more leather coming out..Slightly generic in a way, but not. Masculine and sexy. Reminds me off how my skin smelled after sex with a long ago ex. I do kinda like this.

Overall this might be to generic for some tastes, but memory envoking it is http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/icon_smile.gif a keeper for me!

  5. This is wonderful. I searched for a decant for sentimental reasons (usually 'cool' notes don't work on me), but as this is my favorite dance in the nutcracker I wanted to have a bit.

In the decant- pine with a cool undertone. Like a snow covered bough.

Wet on skin- pine, with some vanilla mint peeking through, slightly worried mint might go menthol on me.

Dry- sweet soft pine with a dusting of cool vanilla. lovely, I can actually see this as being something I would wear on a frequent basis as its soft, sweet and refreshing without being obnoxious. Love.

  6. Lovely soft strawberry and incense scent on my skin. Soft and pink. I tested it before I read the notes that were in it, (frimp in a decanting circle) and was SHOCKED to discover there is rose in this.

Normally rose hates me and goes to soap. :(

Sniffing deeply I can smell the rose, but it seems to be the soft true rose scent I love so much in the actual plant, not the dry soapy rose I have come to associate with EVERY other perfume oil with rose from BPAL I have tried.

    All hail pink lace!!!!! :)

  7. This one proved to me that sometimes my rules of BPAL are meant to be broken, and pre-conceived notions van be proven wrong. As a floral/aquatic hater by rule I didn't even consider this. But today its 60 sunny degrees in Minnesota, and I wanted something spring like.

In the imp, cool aquatic, floral and orange. Bright and clean.

Wet on my skin, Whoa citrus! Fresh and vibrant, with something floral (peony?) In the background. The cool tone of the aquatic is still there, but its an impression, rather then a salty note (which doesn't agree with me).

Dry- the citrus is toning down and everything is getting more balanced. The floral/citrus/aquatic combo is actually quite nice on me, and my cats are crazy for it on me. I wish I could be more specific on the floral notes, but as I usually avoid them like the plague, I simply don't recognize them. The only reason I recognized peony is because my mom loves that scent.

I admit, I like this, and I will probably re-use this on Easter. I don't know if I will ever buy a bottle, but a partial or another decant can home with me.

  8. Have been testing my luper decants several times before reviews, so this is after a day test.

on my skin the rum, leather, frankinsence and champaca are all present and accounted for. The throw is really quite good, but the wear length isn't the longest I have ever experienced.

However, while wandering a large fabric warehouse today I did hear multiple comments from other customers remarking that something smell 'quite good' and 'warm spicy scent' which I guess was me. :) so I guess it works well on my skin.

With its warm spicy tone I feel this will actually make a better fall/holidays scent for me.

  9. Oh Smut, several testings have had to happen to get us to this point.

I have been a bit on the fence on this one initially, the first test happened straight from being out in the chilly Minnesota winter, and Smut was reluctant to allow its better tidbits out for a good time, and it came off smelling like Debauchery (a great love) to my nose and I dismissed it as not enough different to buy a bottle.

Silly me. Burlesque performers always reveal the good parts after a slow tease :)

The second test had a bit more of the amaretto, sugar, booze notes peeping enticingly from the veil of musk .

    Smut had my attention.

The third test finally convinced me that this is going to be my only Luper bottle purchase this year.

Sugary sweet amaretto booze combined with SHEXSAY musk.

  10. This is very pretty, I adore the apricot note, which is a slightly drier note then most. I get a slightly juicier tone from the quince, and the Jasmine is very pretty (usually avoid florals). No skin musk or honey really present.

Overall, very sweet pretty scent on me, lovely for spring, and soft enough to be suitable to wear at formal occasions you dont want to offend anyone. May need a bottle of this.

  11. Oh.

    Oh my.

This is the gorgeous leather note of the red rider. The tough leather armor note I associate with the renaissance festival I work at. Along with it is the pine pitch (which is slightly pine sol right up at my skin level) but the throw is a softer foresty scent of walking through the woods. I can detect the cypress, and a vaguely musky note at the core.

I love this, the clear winner of the 4 scents I tested today, and I also think I may try layering this with the black Apple of Saturn.

In the Forest wins the bottle worthy for today!

  12. For some reason I was holding out high hopes for this despite the presence of my mortal death note rose.

    I was not disappointed. :)

In the imp the vetiver and rose are most apparent, with the patchuli in the back, no noticeable honey.

Wet on skin, the rose started to try and beat out my beloved vetiver, and its a fist fight to see who lands on top.

Dry, exactly what I had hoped to happen, the rose is present, but the earthy vetiver and patchuli are keeping it from going into the dreaded soap arena. I can still smell the rose, but I don't hate it, and I am not trying to outrun my skin.

Overall I like this so far. I plan on giving it a full day test run after my decant settles a bit. But finally a blend with rose I don't loathe :)

  13. Fresh from the cold, decant from Fright.

In the imp- holy moly, that is sour sweet strawberry pixie stix! Can almost taste the sugar on the tounge.

Wet on skin-strawberry sugar, with a background of orange blossom.

dry on skin- softened up to a nice mix of strawberry and orange blossom with a underlying veil of sugar and vanilla.

I quite like this. But I am going to let the imp settle in from the cold and retest in a day or so. But definate bottle potential. :)

  14. Decant from a lovely forumite :)

I have a decant of v2, but I was curious as to what the released version was like (and I am a plum fiend).

Wet, this is dark plum and sandlewood, with the patchuli and musk in the background.

Dry the sandlewood comes to the fore more, with the patchuli and musk, and the plum becomes more of the grounding note. Smokey and deep.

I like this a lot, as much as v2. But the two are quite different so its easy to love both <3
