  1. Fettered in the Shackles of the Drug was nice, but the anise makes it not work for me.

Tuberose/rose gives me a headache and I don't like jasmine, so that means Radiance is out also.

I will definitely try Anathema and Belle Epoque the next time I order!

And yes, Sprout, you should try Romanti.Goth. It is great!

  2. So happy I found this thread. Now I know I already have a favorite opium scent - Blood Countess.

I also adore Romanti.Goth. I only have a decant though. So I use it only on very special occasions.

I can't believe I have not tried Red Lantern and really hope it comes back this year. I also hope for more sweet opium scents!

Has there been any other new opium scents lately? The Snow at Dusk is too sharp/strangely floraly for me.

  3. So swift, so delicate, so smooth: champagne musk, ambergris accord, white rose, rosewood, and vanilla amber.

This is so pretty. Even if they have very different notes, this reminds me a bit of The Waltz of the Flowers (fitting too right?), perhaps because it is a gentle floral with musk/vanilla, even if like I said the types of flowers, musk and vanilla are different. It is very girly to me, sweet and wonderful. In the end, it might not work for me because sadly rose is "sharp" on me, but all the Crimson Peaks I have tried so far are so beautiful! Even the ones that not work for me. And I can see how The Waltz will have a lot of fans.

  4. Like others have pointed out, I find this very similar to Scherezade, only stronger and more complex. I can really smell the saffron adding complexity - quite wonderful. I just visited Morocco and bought fresh saffron that I have baked with since, and part of the smell reminds me of the taste of the bake goods I made. It is very heavy on the red musk, perhaps a bit too much for me, but I am sure many will really adore this scent. Compelling, sexy, heady.

  5. I really adore this scent. It reminds me of another favorite, Dorian in the Pumpkin patch, I guess due to the sweetness and pumpkin. To me it is sweet and lovely slightly foodie vanilla with hints of spice (but that might be pumpkin, since others have said this is a Weenie without spice). I'm so glad I have a partial bottle, and the label art is adorable as well.

  6. I second Velvet if you like sweet and cozy and I also second Morocco if you like spicy.

I have not tried many of the ones you mention, but I would like to recommend

    Obatala (if you like coconut)

The Black Rider (if you like leather)

Kill-Devil (if you like very sweet and honey)

These are just some :) I find them uncomplicated. Some of the LE's I have tried are too much of too many things for me too :)

  7. Now the deed is done! I dabbed some Lady Una on my wrists the first day but I think I could have let it be, it smelled so strongly of tattoo parlour like mentioned here hehe and after five hours during the first day I couldn't care less about smells at all :)

I need more something calming now, when it is itching like crazy!!!! Argh!!

  8. I think you are right. I don't want anything to distract him from doing his best!

I have so many favorite scents. Raven Moon, Black Rider, Morocco, Feed me and fill me with pleasure, Blood Countess, September Midnight, Skekna the Slavemaster, Black Death. The list goes on and on.

I'm getting a cover for a kind of big tattoo on my back.

Yes, maybe I'll bring scent and not wear any for the first day? We are doing to full days...

  9. The topic I guess reveals my question. On the one hand, I'd like to wear something that makes me feel great and calm, on the other hand I'm thinking that the artist has to sit close to me for hours and might not appreciate it... Should I be lighthanded with scent? Wear none at all? What would you advice?

  10. I would love some suggestions even if I'm sorry I'm not enough of an expert to recommend much.

The top five that I'm most intrigued by right now:

    1. Raven Moon

    2. Black Rider

    3. Body Remember

    4. The Antikythera Mechanism

    5. Totentanz

All of these scents are sort of in the same vein as listed, so I'll just make some broad recs. Kroenen is a dark, elegant and incense-y leather with a touch of metallic bite. Rigorous Love reminds me of Body, Remember. It's a bit lighter but has a similar soft, sweetened coconut.

Others that would fit with this lovely list are:

    Leather Phoenix

    Perversion

    Haute Macabre

Old Demons of the First Class

    Our Lady of Pain

    Mircalla, Countess Karnstein

Thank you so much Balame! I have and enjoy Perversion and Mircalla. Rigorous Love i did try, but it was too heavy on the lemongrass. I will definitely check out the others you have suggested! :)

  11. When I first got my bottle, I discovered to my sadness that I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It was very sharp, woody and strong. But WOW did it age well! I almost swapped it away trying to get a hold of Dorian in the pumpkin patch, but glad I didn't manage and re-tested it. So sexy indeed! Makes me think I should really age patchouli-scents before giving them up. So smooth, sweet and sexy... yay!

Edited to say that I see now others made exactly the same discovery before me! :D

  12. This is my dark gloomy Norwegian winter oh yes!

The snowy darkness (I have not seen the sun for weeks now), the pine forest, the hint of berries...

I think it isn't me as a perfume, I'd love to smell it on someone else, but I'll keep it because of the feeling it gives me. I think it is very special and beautiful.
