In the vial, this is a sweet peach scent. Wet, it's all peach and patchouli. Unfortunately, as it dries the peach and patchouli is completely obliterated by the neroli. So much so that it gave me a sinus headache. And then, about an hour or so of a neroli enhanced headache, the cocoa absolute came by and did it's thing. Saying that my skin eats cocoa absolute is a bit of an understatement - blends with cocoa absolute in them just get swallowed up whole within an hour or two (sometimes a lot less if there's a lot of it in a blend), after which point sticking my nose to my wrist only got a very light whiff of neroli. If only I could keep it wet forever.

    Hemlock

In the imp: Piney. Wet: AAAAAAH! PINE! And it spends the next few minutes making my eyes water despite the fact that I'm trying to keep my arm away from my face. As it dries, there's a lemon-y scent. And then a few more minutes pass, and the pine/lemon are blending into an herbal-ness that would be really awesome if it didn't give me a headache. Except there's an aftersniff of BO.
  3. For me, Gennivre is a great spring/summer scent, as is Olokun. F5 is really nice, but I'm not sure how easy it is to track down. I also have to second or third or so Undertow and Nuclear Winter and the Lick It's.

    MVJBA: Spring Training 2008

In the decant, this is almost straight butterscotch. Wet, I can smell the caramel and the salt and the popcorn. As it dries, I get a coffee vibe from it, and it seems like it's the first super-foody scent I really like (and want to eat). Sadly, my skin went all NOMNOMNOM on it and now I can only smell it faintly if I shove my wrist under my nose. Keeping my decant though - I plan to use it to scent some unscented lotion since it fades fast on me.

    Death Adder

I haven't reviewed this yet? Bad me. Side note: my decant is well aged (at least a year, probably more like two), and my bottle is about two months old and untouched and aging) Fresh in the bottle: Fresh, and almost grassy (not trying on the fresh though, as I vastly prefer it when it's aged). Aged in the decant: Kind of a sultry vanilla Wet: Smooth and creamy with a bit of peanut (which is the vetiver - I don't know why vetiver always goes on peanut, but once it settles? ) And once the vetiver settles, it's this gorgeous scent of sexy - I can't describe it but I can always pick it out of blends from it. At any rate, once the vetiver de-peanuts, this is a deep but creamy, sexy scent. I can pick out the coconut, and now that I've retried Snake Oil I can pick that out too. I love it, my husband loves it, and it is a totally sexy blend on my weird ass skin.

    Upa Upa

In the imp: gingery sweetness Wet: Gingery bananas? *checks notes* *eyes skin* The banana was shortlived. Thankfully. There was also a blast of pineapple, and now it's settling into a spicy, creamy, sexy scent. I think it'll be perfect for those long summer nights. *wink*

    Screeching Parrot

Wet: Spicy spicy boozy rum. On a few minutes: Sharp citrus. The grapefruit is desperately trying to go cleaning solution, but it's being kept in check. Sorta. As it dries, the pineapple is coming out more. It's settling into a spicy sweet fruity scent. This'll be perfect for summer.

    Tiki King

This is a morpher on me. At first it was the war of the Coconut and Lemon Cleaning Solution. For a good twenty minutes. And then the war ended and Coconut won but must have been heavily injured because soon after the coconut (supported gently by a gentle woodiness, recognized by the tickle on the back of my throat all woods tend to give me) faded into a musky, resinous powdery sort of scent, with what has to be the ironwood bark in the background. An hour or so later, and the lemon blossom opens up and gently perfumes the air. I have to say that this was not at all what I was expecting, but it's really quite pretty and definitely a keeper.

    Opuhi

Wet it was a creamy and lightly spicy scent, but on me it quickly morphed into ginger and plastic. And because I often misinterpret vanilla and my skin, I had my husband weigh in and yep, plastic.

    Rangoon Riptide

In the imp, it smelled like super sickly sticky sweet raspberries. Wet, it sort of blends more and the sticky dies way down. As it dries, it's a perky, fruity scent. I smell the pineapple and orange the most, but the raspberry is still there. It's not particularly strong, but I've only got it on one wrist for testing purposes. Although it seems to be fading a bit quickly. 2 hours later, and it's more or less gone.. I get a whiff of fruity powder, but that's it.

    Pruno

I got my bottle of Pruno off of ebay last spring or summer, and when the initial sniff made my eyes water it went in the "to be tried when I'm feeling brave" pile, where it's been sitting until just now when I started to write up a sales post.. In the bottle it's super powerful orange. Wet, it was BOOZE and sparkly orange and more BOOZE (some booze notes work for me, this one is not one of them). And.. it's barely on my skin and I'm smelling icky fruit, BOOZE, and dryer sheets. Blech.

    Tintagel

Imp: Spicy, resinous... stuff Wet: Cinnamon with a hint of cherry cough syrup and something very medicinal (because the cough syrup isn't enough?). And I can smell flowers and whiffs of leather. As it dries, it smells sort of like some candy I once had (can't tell you what, or where I had it though) - it's very very sweet and sugary with a medicinal twang at the end of the sniff. And it seems to be settling into a deeper, more resinous Sugar Skull, of all things. A few hours later, all the sweetness is gone and it's just a powdery, resinous sort of floral scent. Not for me, in the end.

    Fae

This is another case of the labbies knowing us better than we do, as Fae was a frimp in my last order. In the imp: fresh, fruity, almost effervescent. Wet: Peachy! As it dries, the peach is sweetened up and deepened all at once. It's hard to pick out the non-peach notes, and I'm familiar with some of them. This is a perfect scent for Spring!

    Miskatonic University

In the imp, this was a sweet caramel scent, which would normally scare me but I figured the other notes would tame it. Wet, the caramel is there but it's more like a drizzle of caramel in a good cup of coffee. As it dries, the book note (haha) comes out a bit, but the coffee stays ever present. Never gets too boozy or too caramel-y. I quite like this one, but the husband really doesn't like this one, so off to swaps.

    Snake Oil

So, a long time ago when I was new to Bpal, I tried Snake Oil, wasn't impressed, and swapped it away. Since then, I've been hearing good things about aged Snake Oil, so I've picked up an imp from the Lab. I am also hooked on Death Adder. Lab Fresh: Wet, this is a spicy but smooth scent that's so slinky it's hard to put your finger on it. As it dries, it loses the spiciness, and stays a sweet creamy scent. It's also fading fast. It's been on.. 15 minutes and I have to really press my nose to the spot I put it on to get anything. But, instead of swapping it away this time, I'll be stashing it in my keepers box and not trying it again until August. I'll be back with an edit then.

    51

This is pretty! Like other reviewers mentioned, it's hard to pick out individual notes, but I get wafts of sweet fruitiness, or wafts of salty air, or wafts of a very light floral. This is definitely a scent for my more girlie days as it just has a wonderful flirty, happy vibe to it.

    Shanghai

In the imp: Glue? *sniffs again* Defintely glue-like. Wet, I can smell the green tea and a hint of the lemon. It's got a softer feel than F5, which is the only thing I've tried that's close to this. As it dries though, it gets a bit soapy, and I'm getting the weird, almost light-headed feeling I get sometimes at the beginning of a sinus headache. And the longer I leave this on, the soapier it's getting. Oh well.
  18. crazyredhead17

    The Shivering Boy

In the vial, this was a cold, wintery scent. Wet on me, it's allll soap and pine. I've never had an aquatic go soapy like this, although this is my first foray into the "snow" end of the spectrum so maybe that's why? Anyways, not a keeper.
  19. crazyredhead17

    Angeronalia

In the vial: Sweet, bright floral Wet: Gardenia As it dries, the gardenia calms a bit and I can catch wisps of citrus, although its settling into a super-hyper sweet gardenia (thank you, honey absolute) and it's giving me an awful headache. Gardenia definitely doesn't work on me - too bad I had to finalize that thought with what could have been such a pretty blend.

    La Befana

I joined a decant circle for this one because the concept intrigued me but I wasn't sure about the notes (violet on my skin usually goes baby powder). I also have a cold or something, so I can't identify as much as usual. Wet, this was a sweet, sugary, almost caramel scent on me. Sadly, the violet grabbed ahold of this one and the end result is slightly sweet baby powder.

    Ourobouros

My use of this oil picks up at the end of this review of STFU, as reference. I don't generally care about how blends smell for ritual use (although I'd probably be hard pressed to use something that smells really rank in the bottle, but I digress), but this smelled like lemon pledge on my fingertips. I had used STFU towards a person that was causing me unnecessary hurt, and it worked but between that ritual and using Orobouros there was sense of loose ends - and that it wasn't time to close the circle yet. A few days ago I got an apology out of the blue, and after I recovered from receiving it, I put some Orobouros on the tips of my index fingers and just traced a circle in the air with my fingers. I can't recall what I said, but I know as I closed the circle and my fingertips met, I said "and now it's time to move on with life." I feel like a major load has not only been lifted, but is gone entirely, and there are no loose ends to trip me and grab me, and the future seems a bit brighter for it.

    Lick It One More Time

I have bottles of Lick It and Lick It Again (which my nose can barely tell apart) so I only got a decant of this one. Wise choice. In the vial, this is a soft mint.. a softer scent than its predecessors, but a bit more medicinal or herbal at the same time. Wet, its immediately mint and cat pee. I've been suffering through the cat pee phase for about five minutes (my boy kittens, who sleep in the litter box, won't come near me right now), and it's getting sorta woody, like someone above posted. This one is just not a keeper for me.

    STFU

There's this woman that I had been pretty friendly with in an online virtual world.. until I found out she'd had an affair with my then fiance (now husband - it's a long, very hard story for me to recount so this is the first and last you'll hear me mention it) - at any rate in last two years she's been this kind of negative energy source that I've avoided as much as possible online, but whenever interactions occurred I'd keep it polite. And then over the summer I found she was talking to others in that world about me, saying things that would start like "she's a friend but [insert nasty, untrue shit here]" so I hunted down some STFU and waited until I was ready to use it. And a little over a month ago I found some more stuff about her (old emails my husband had saved) and got really really upset. As in - couldn't eat or sleep or focus upset, so I wrote a letter along the lines of "<name> I want to be out of your mind, out of your thoughts, out of your life. I don't want your negative energy near me" etc and anointed the letter and a white candle with STFU and meant to burn them but I couldn't find my ceremonial Aim'N'Flame (stop laughing!) so I just set them on a table and forgot about them (they're still there btw.. I should probably throw them out or something). I immediately felt better, like a weight had been lifted. That said, the ripples from this ritual have been interesting in a good way. A day or two after the ritual, she announced that she was leaving her volunteer staff position in that world and was possibly leaving altogether. She's been chatting much less with my husband (and hopefully spending more time with her own), and today she apologized to me out of the blue. I'm still kinda stunned actually - up until just after the ritual I'd gotten the feeling that she'd regretted nothing. So while my results are a bit different than others, my intent was a bit different as well, and STFU still worked wonderfully.

    Twenty-One

I've never smelled or drunk gin, but I've smelled juniper. Love the way the thing looks, could live without it's smell. Wet, this is juniper and booze. As it dries, there's a light citrus note, and the booze note is dissapating. I can see where people are picking up gingerale - it kinda has that vibe but it's still a bit juniper-y. And there's something about the scent as a whole that reminds me of how my old church smelled at Christmastime, which is odd, because they use really nice looking artificial trees and live poinsettias. Overall.. not bad but not something I'll reach for.

    Eve

Since I've actually been having luck with oddball florals, I decided to give this a try. Turns out that not only do I amp ylang-ylang like whoa, but that it gives me a killer sinus headache in a few seconds. And I thought jasmine was bad. All I can smell is ylang-ylang soap. Blech. On the plus side, it wasn't on my skin long enough for the honey to go to playdough.
