    Baba Yaga

Received this as one of the frimps with my first order, very exciting! In the bottle: Myrrh, a cedar wood, spanish moss, very peaceful and slightly sparkling. On the skin: Very sharp almost immediately, turned to a sharp and violent vinegar. Soooo disappointed! Drydown: The vinegar disappeared, thankfully, but smelled very strongly of myrrh and the flashes of a forest floor with a very long throw. General consensus was that it was very pleasant, but that it smelled more that I had been "anointed" than "perfumed". It would be a lovely scent even for me (a man) to wear during rituals or as a special personal scent. Overall: A gorgeous smell, but not suited to me as a wearing scent every day. I used the rest of the imp to make some scented wax that I placed into my oil burner. Absolutely exquisite!!!! I could see myself buying a bottle of it just to use for this.

    The Convocation

In the bottle: Sharp sour plums, dried wild mountain oregano, a slight rotting (but somehow not in a bad way, like decayed leaves) On the skin: All the sourness vanishes, sweet herbs, ripe pears, a very light cider vinegar Drydown: Becomes dusty, losing the sweetness, a forest floor with dried herbs bursting underfoot, warming, images of a terribly elegant and sinister man in Edwardian dress standing in the corner of a shadowy room. Unmistakeably masculine, and almost slightly bestial but very very subtle. Overall: I really like this one a lot, and could see it as a daily office scent. Edit: Update... Well, I was a bit overeager. A few hours later, and the vanilla has become very dominant, which really takes it into the feminine category for me, so probably not a keeper. That's okay, I know a young lady who will love it!

    Doc Constantine (2006)

(my first review, so apologies if it comes out all wrong!!) In the bottle: engine cleaner, lemon antiseptic, a pine forest at midnight, juniper, shining leather On the skin: muted, short throw, lemon zest, lemon sherbert Drying: Lemon thyme, thin strips of leather in the breeze, a slight muskiness, Overall: I got the notes others saw in the bottle, but as soon as it hit my skin I was in a lemon factory. Luckily, the drydown transformed it. Surprisingly manly for something with such a strong intial lemon character on my skin. The throw is very very short though, I basically have to nuzzle my wrist to pick it up. Would make a wonderful scent to dab on neck and chest before an evening for when She gets very close as a surprise. Can't stop smelling my wrist...this is suprisingly good. Edit: A few hours later, it became really gorgeously subtle with musk, leather and the smell of a woodshop (not smoke or cedarwood, but that very masculine scent of a high-speed saw cutting through wood planks leaving a "hot" smell in the air.) That evening, the lovely Lady of the house made clear that she liked the scent an awful lot... Definite favourite.
