  1. :P I LOVED the smell of Velvet in the vial.

On my skin a little less so but I think it's more of a seasonal fragrance. This scent will work best on me during the cooler months. I can just picture it: me, a warm cup of hot coco, fire in the fireplace & my sweetie.

I'll order a 5ml of this in the Fall.

  2. Updated 7-9-04

In the vial, "Oh, I don't know about this..sharp smelling."

On the skin, "FANTASTIC!" I generally prefer jasmine scents & this is exquisite.

Next morning, "Creamy, light & delicious."

This is the first Imp Ear I've ever tried. Siren was the only Imp that did not pass the initial "sniff" test. I really did not like the way it smelled in the vial, as other reviewers have already said. Don't be fooled. Upon wearing, the oil morphs into a deliciously feminine aura.

If this is my reaction to the only oil I didn't like (at first sniff), then I'm in really BIG trouble with the rest of them.

    But I'm VERY Happy!

    :D :P

    Edit added 7-9-04

Siren remains my #1 favorite BPAL. However, I have learned that too much is NOT a good thing. In tiny applications it is a magical blend that lasts all day & gathers tons of compliments. Too much & it gives me a headache. fyi

    ADDED Nov. 10:

Siren is my first BPAL & my first BPAL love.

I've already reviewed this but wish to gently remind anyone trying this that a little goes a long, long, long way.

Too much & it will be overpowering (I'm being kind).

A tiny bit & you'll have found a real treasure. Well....for me anyway.

    I love Siren.

Can you tell I love Siren?

    I'll be quiet now.

  3. saw the last post & thought I'd join in.

    Virtue you Embody: Loyalty

Astrological info: Gemini Sun, Scorpio Moon, Virgo Rising. Mars in Capricon & most, if not all, of the rest in Cancer. Most people guess I am Cancerian.

How did you find out about BPAL: I read a rather unkind review on a MUA thread. I didn't like the person's "tone", so I thought I'd check it out for myself. I'm very happy that I did. I like it here.

Any comments about the Lab or life in general: Life is too short. However, I think our gifted :P Lab Goddess has gathered around her a teriffic group of warm, genuine, no holds bared kind of folks who share a common love for finely crafted, fragrance, as well as respect for intelligence and literature. Not to mention a good side splitting joke.

My final comment is: Brian you remind me of a young Lord Byron. Thanks for helping Elizabeth in the Lab. :D

  4. :P Thank you so much!!!

I placed my first order for Imp Ears on 3/18 & it is showing "shipped". My zip code is 07004 for my new BPAL buddies. Wheeee Ha!

My 6 year old has Spring Break next week & we are gettin' the heck outta here. I was worried that my order would sit on the porch for a week. Sad little order...all alone. Ahem, I digress. :D

    Thank you again!

I hope you are feeling better, Beth! :D

  5. Good Morning All,

Thought I'd add my 2 cents. I live 22 miles west of midtown Manhattan & our USPS (that's the government post office) service has gotten worse & worse. Of course, we've had post offices shut down by anthrax scares and a few years ago postal employees were shot & killed by wackos. These guys need "hazardous duty pay", like in the military.

UPS, (aka "Brown") has always been laize faire regarding my deliveries. They leave them on my enclosed porch, no knock, nothing. Even my Berner doesn't bark at them anymore when they drop off packages.

FedEx has always been the most reliable & I feel the most confident in their services.

Bottom line: Let client choose shipping method, insurance & to sign or not to sign.

    :P

  6. Thanks jj_j!

Fragrance is so important to me & I know it can be offputting to many. I myself get migraines from some of the more synthetic perfumes. I didn't want to come across as "flighty" or "flirty".... you know what I mean.

As far as the diverse carreer paths, that's just my Gemini-ness expressing itself & I understand that. Actually, the QA field, at least in the pharma industry, is mostly women. Let's face it we are master organizers, multitaskers & detail oriented. If you can write well, software testing is really interesting.

I will be careful applying the oils & follow your time frames.

I will order some Imp Ears in the oil blends you suggested. Unfortunately, none of your recommendations were in my first or second order. I've ordered, Sol, High John the Conqueror, the Star, the Empress, Seraphim, Siren, Snake Oil, Velvet, Viola & Zephyr. I haven't received them yet: it's too soon. Perhaps I can participate in the Swap board & get what I need.

You all have been very kind in your comments.

    :P

  7. A little more detail on the job, if you don't mind - what field are you looking in? Do you have lots of experience in it, or is this your first foray into job hunting along these lines?

That may sound silly, but it changes what I'd recommend. :P

Sure jj_j. I can go in two different directions.

My recent experience is in QA Software testing in the pharma industry. I am organized, analytical & enjoy writing. For some weird reason, patterns just "POP" out at me, so I tend to find things others miss. All this is either self taught (on the job training, "Here's an application see if you can break it", sort of thing) or inate.

Years ago I taught 7th & 8th grade English. When I say years, I mean about 15, so it's been a long time. I've kept my teaching certificate active but for some reason I have anxiety dreams about returning to it. It's about control, I'm sure, as I have taken knives from students in the past.

Problem is, now that I have a little 1st grader, teaching would give me a great schedule AND give me the most time with my girl.

Sorry to rattle on but I do hope it helps.
