    Estimated ship time.

heh. so did everyone watch "blade runner" tonight on WGN (i didn't realise how used to the "director's cut" version i have grown...) - or do you just covet nexus six-model androids, generally? best eve ...who broke up with someone once, as he mocked me for crying pathetically when Roy dies, yet not at, say, "Bambi".

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

in the same way that old skinny puppy records make it feel ten degrees cooler in the room than it actually is, bpal "ultraviolet" works for me. this may be all psychological: since it smells like cold dark sharp things, making me THINK of same, i feel colder. (and presumably darker, sharper, etc. heh.) my $.02 - though as an alternate i will second the "arkham" vote - best eve

Too stupid to figure out Acrobat.

one might argue that that's word's only useful feature: "print as pdf". heh. add my voice to the chorus of "what app are you using to create the document, then we'll offer advice". though my advice tends to be annoyingly mac-specific and thus useless to 96% of the population. eve

    Astrology Recommendations

hmm, interesting, lorajc. a tarot reading last night implied that should i want to resolve a current situation to my liking, i should be paying more mind to the fiery aspects of my nature (ace, two, queen of wands all in significant spots). prior to a year or so ago, much of my work DID emphasize fire and its associations, so much so that i went on a conscious "sabbatical" from it, if that makes sense. but maybe in my quest for balance i've over-tipped the scales a bit. (was i just struggling to feel slightly more feminine? heh. possibly. ah, ego weakness...) i mention all of this as my moon is in aries, and i definitely thrill to bpal's "inferno" and abramelin, generally. i'm faintly obsessed with what, exactly, the tarot aces oils smell like... best eve

Suggestions for scents based on the 4 elements

i'm sure it DOES vary from person to person - doesn't everything? - but of course one COULD be all doctrinaire about it: things-which-produce-aromas which are traditionally held to be associated with each element (or ruled by a planet associated with said element, or.. etc..) -- are their scents associated in one's head with that element because one spends too much time memorizing tables of correspondences, or is there some more concrete and sensible connection? i.e., something "hard-wired" in one's brain that smells cinnamon and thinks of fire - or of "fiery" sorts of things? fulltiltredhead, are you reading this? sorry to borrow so liberally from our conversation of the other night without being sufficiently awake to give credit properly... best eve

    CCNow Questions & Problems

CCNow has much weirdness, yes. and i feel bad that they take such a huge cut. however, nobody i know has had their CC info / bank acct info snaked from their CCNOW account. currently, i know four people going through that drama with PP. watching how they've treated the people i've known who've had account hack/identity theft via PP account/etc issues scared me, and i killed my PP account when i switched banks. i prefer CCNow's making odd pronouncements re: ship dates to paypal suspending my account with no warning because someone in indonesia tried to buy a laptop on my credit card... just my $.02. eve

Suggestions for scents based on the 4 elements

i ordered all four of the "dark elements" oils in my last batch, having only smelled "burial" previously and curious as to how the rest were... i can't say that all four of them exactly "match" my personal concept of "what the elements smell like" - i think i want "hurricane" to smell less... WET, somehow. but of course if they did exactly replicate my imaginings, i'd be frightened and confused. heh. "burial" - and my sun IS in capricorn, an earth sign, so i may well be biased - is almost the ideal "earth" scent, though. i *do* have a fondness for dark murky scents - whether or not this can be blamed on my sun sign, i am not sure - but i wear things similar to "burial" - and "saturn" for that matter - frequently, without feeling smothered/overpowered by them (as i know some people do - then, those people can wear those light pretty florals that are OH so wrong on me..) hopefully i will write proper reviews of these - i'm trying to wait until i've used them in a non-perfume capacity before i do so, though. i was initially leery of "inferno" because it smells like cinnamon candy in the bottle. i realise this can't be helped. however, worn, it's quite different, on me, much more complicated. i'd be interested to know how the tarot aces oils compare to these, but i haven't any of those. in theory, they should echo each other, so long as one agrees on which suit = which element. anyone have a thought on this? gah. reading back through this it is ridiculously disjointed and babbly. hopefully it made at least SOME sense and was maybe even faintly helpful, but probably not. best eve

    Jolly Roger

so i had a long and annoyingly melodramatic - surprise - post written about this, but then i had a revelation.. i have a sick obsession with john frieda "ocean waves" texturizer. i know, i know.. hair products designed to make clean hair look like it needs washing are silly. still, it pleases me. it MOSTLY pleases me. the problem with it is that it takes on all known fragrances and almost always wins. been struggling to find something that is similar enough to its beachy smell that it might have a fighting chance... since trying to work against it ends in failure, working WITH it seems like the way to go. "ocean waves" isn't a nasty smell, or anything. just one that is victorious over most everything else. EXCEPT jolly roger. YAY! *happy dance* pirate references are an extra bonus, of course.

Getting sick of orders showing up as delivered...

"anything that increases the security/reliability of the shipping process will get my vote." i second that emotion. best eve living in fear, as usual.. ho-hum..

    Shipping Update..

thanks very kindly for the information, Brian. (yes, that is my zip, and my behemoth of an order...) while lurking, jj_j, i saw you reference our grand state in another post, and would've commented, but it still hasn't occurred to me that i actually live here (i moved back, after 12 years away, in december.) it still makes me giggle that OK driver's licenses say "we know we belong to the land - and the land we belong to is grand!" on them... did any other state in the union get its state song from a broadway musical, or are we, uh, lucky? blackrayne, i co-edited a zine in the mid-80s, and "post orifice" was born, for me, after enduring Bulk Mailing Class... it's come handily back into play when dealing with bpal orders, jerks-on-ebay, etc. plus, i lived in chicago, home of the nation's worst letter-delivery record, so picturing it as a sort of gaping maw, into which all things eventually disappear, was oddly comforting. best eve "why does texas not float away into the gulf of mexico? because oklahoma sucks."

    Shipping Update..

i received a lovely confirmation email from E... and TWO DIFFERENT emails, two minutes apart, with two different tracking numbers from the USPS. one of them, admittedly, matches my BPAL number, so i'm not worried, really, just.. perplexed. i'm not - to my knowledge - expecting anything from anyone ELSE. could it be that i have finally ordered such a gross amount of stuff that it wouldn't all fit in one box? or did the usps screw up something, somewhere, somehow? best eve ...who promises that if the post orifice brings her something addressed to someone else she will NOT keep it, no matter how nice it smells...

    Mercury

it's funny.. i had someone else's mercury oil for eons and eons. so i can't tell, now, really, whether my idea of "what mercury smells like" has any basis in anything beyond that. i'd like to think so, but perhaps i am merely kidding myself. it certainly wouldn't be the first time. but when the end of my original stash ran out, i panicked: the makers of the old stuff had long since vanished into the ether. whatever would i do? experimentation with long lists of correspondences and single notes got me nowhere... or to be more accurate, got me SOMEWHERE, just not the correct somewhere, if that makes sense. fingers crossed, i ordered the BPAL version.. and lo and behold, it was enough LIKE the old oil that it made everything click back into place, yet it was BETTER. (the old one had an odd tendency to fade into smelling like pepper...) it smells.. like Mercury: instantaneity, if that's even a word, electricity (not in a crispy-cool Uranus sort of sense. more the way those turn-of-the-last-century many-machined utopias must've smelled in their creators' imaginations.), etc. it smells the way the crowley 8 of wands card LOOKS, which in my mind is about as Mercurial as one can GET. its first ritual starring role involved harry houdini, various mythological "tricksters", and a friend awaiting sentencing. it performed swimmingly. obviously, that's a personal thing - just because it worked for me, and i've already admitted i had a pre-set idea of what it needed to smell like, doesn't mean it would hit the correct switches for anyone ELSE - but seemed worth mentioning. my current order involves a few more of this series of oils, so comments are doubtless forthcoming once they get here... as if this one were USEFUL in any way. heh. best eve oh, and... it didn't bother my skin at ALL, but then years of abramelin oil have probably removed any sensitivity i ever had. odd, because lots of cosmetic ingredients make my skin freak out... just no essential oils that i know about...
