I like lavender, spices, most wood notes, the smell of books, fire, smokey scents, incense, (sometimes) tuberose... I'm really looking forward to finding out more of what I do (and don't) like through BPAL!

    Aureus

Yum... Ugh, I just want to snuffle myself when I put this on! I think I have a new favorite... At first it goes on pretty much pure cedar, but that lasts only a few minutes. Admittedly it did start out rather sharp, which had me worried, but it quickly mellows into something truly incredible. I can get the pure, golden light reference, although not in the way I expected. I was originally thinking bright sunshine, sort of early-morning, but this is more like that last few amber rays of the evening, or perhaps firelight. If I had to give a visual impression from this, it's a bit like being tucked away in an old wingback chair in a home library, maybe something an old professor would have. Perhaps one of his grandchildren snuck in one evening and is sitting in the chair, which is partly carved of some golden, polished old wood and padded with velvet. The grandchild rifles quietly, cautiously, through an old book with fantastical illustrations and unrecognizable words. Dark amber firelight plays over the images and faint, incensey notes waft up from the pages, hinting at exotic origins. As the scent evolves, it gets sexier, perhaps more like his parents sneaking into the same chair for a romantic tryst after the little one has been put to sleep I actually feel like I get a bit of sandalwood from this, though I don't think anyone else has mentioned it. Either way, it's warm, smooth, a bit exotic, and altogether lovely.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Thanks, Venus! I'm a newbie and don't have too much experience, but here are a few that I think sound good: For your sexy, womanly side- Hollywood Babylon: The essence of innocence shattered: glittering Egyptian amber and heliotrope, infused with the sweetness of strawberry and vanilla - dragged into debauch by lusty red musk and a dribble of black cherry. For your kick-ass, sophisticated lawyer side- Manhattan: Sexuality, power, confidence. A meeting of modern, sleek elegance and rich, passionate history: sheer amber, black leather, white mint, lemon peel, white tea, grapefruit, kush, teakwood and orchid. And for when you're feeling outdoorsy- Black Forest: This is the captured scent of a cold, moonless night, lost deep within the darkest wood. Haunting and desolate, this scent evokes images of fairy tale tragedy and half-remembered nightmares. Thick, viscous pine with ambergris, black musk, juniper and cypress. Hope some of these sound interesting to you! BTW, you sound pretty awesome yourself! An eyeliner-addicted, motorcross-loving lawyer? Gosh, you're like a unicorn!

    Eos

So, I was really looking forward to Eos, as I love the smell of honeysuckle. I was a bit wary of the jasmine, but decided to give it a shot... Oops. Pure jasmine, nearly overwhelming in its powderiness. Le sigh. The hunt for a floral I actually enjoy continues...

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

    Ouch. No smellies for me?

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Guess I'll jump on the bandwagon I'm a 22 year old, currently in college working towards a philosophy degree and (hopefully) law after that. I have a pretty strong personality, sometimes even abrasive. I'm intelligent and argumentative, though I rarely get into serious confrontations. While I love my friends dearly, I definitely like my alone time, especially at home with a good book. I like working with my hands, and have recently gotten into ceramics. The most important things in my life are my family (including my two spoiled dogs) and friends. Independence and self-reliance are also important to me. My favorite place to be would have to be in the woods, possibly the mountains. Trees, moss, ferns... all of it just makes me feel right somehow. Physically I'm about 5'4", slender-medium build. I look a lot more athletic than I actually am. My hair is black-brown, my eyes are dark brown, and my skin is light olive (my friends frequently tease me for my paleness) and I'm a definite mutt, predominantly French and Iranian. Autumn is my favorite season. I love warmth, comfort, spooky things, and mystery. Haha, think I got enough there?

    Eau de Pooch

I don't really have any recs, I'm brand new, but I want you to know you're not alone. I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I think my dog smells best right in the back of his neck, where he has a big ruff of fur. Warm, clean, soft, Beauregard

    Scent Recommendations By Hair Color?

Well, I have an ex who's a redhead, and she always smelled sooo good, like apples and light blossoms. It just seemed to suit her thin, pale skin and light green eyes so well, I guess it just worked with her body chemistry. Maybe something like Hesperides would be good? As a very dark (blackish) brunette, I prefer scents that are a bit warmer and richer, personally. Especially if they have a bit of spice.
  8. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of a scent similar to the Burl Wood scent by Archipelago. The notes are listed as black spruce, teak, and cedar. It's pretty much my favorite smell in the word so far, but there's nothing for personal use
