  1. Delicious! This one is all buttercreamy goodness with a peppermint kick. Soft, extremely foody (yet not cloying), this is just as delicious as I wanted it to be! I get more of a white cake note (a la Eat Me), rather than that rich cream cheese/cheesecake note (as with various Beaver Moon incarnations). Good throw, yet not overpowering. A true winner!!

  2. Although popcorn isn't listed in the notes, there is a popcorn note in The Elephantine Colossus. I just tested it now, and there's definitely a kettle-corn in here. :D

Seaside hanky panky: a strumpet’s red musk with a merry splash of root beer, a swirl of exotic pipeweed, and a whiff of sweets carrying over from the boardwalk.

I definitely got a popcorn note in E. Colossus as well.

Boo didn't smell like it on me, but others have gotten a buttered popcorn vibe from it I believe.

  3. This is awesome! First on I smell red musk-y frosting and lots of incense. The drydown has a Cake Smash feel to it, with the frosting being more prominent at this stage. The booze in this is giving a nice edge to the sweetness, but is not screaming alcohol. I absolutely love the incense mixed with everything else in this blend, not a big incense fan generally, but this is smoky and rich. Gorgeous!! :wub2:

    Edited for spelling problems!

  4. Like others have experienced I get a very dry cocoa note, but on me it almost smells like a box of chocolate cake mix. This is delicious smelling, but unfortunately chocolate and I have become less friendly in recent times. This bottle of deliciousness will be more appreciated in a new home. The label art couldn't be any cuter though, so pretty!

  5. Mah dear witch got me a bottle of Blackberry Jam and Scones and this is AMAZING on me. Are there any other scents in this family? I'd take either ones that have the same blackberry note OR the same kind of buttery pastry note. It is so good I have to have more!

Foody scents I've tried that aren't quite right: Cake Smash v6, Monsterbait: Underbed, Monsterbait: Closet, Beaver'versary, Beavermoon 2010...

Lilith's Tea Party has a similar pastry note to my nose with a bit of strawberry jam-iness, but also a bit of rose.

Desiccated Frostberry Pie Filling(from the BPTP Underworld Cup update a bit ago) has a similar berry and pastry vibe to me as well.

  6. First off, big thanks to the kind and lovely forumite who frimped me this!! :wub2:

This is gorgeous. It smells kind of like honey when it is first on, reminding me a little of Lush's fabulous Honey I Washed the Kids scent.

This is a beautiful mix of ginger, light grapefruit, rice wine, and a sugary musk. It is very sweet, but it has a lot of depth and dimension. I can smell the sandalwood way in the distance, grounding the scent, but not being overbearing like it sometimes is on me.

I have tested out the 2011 HGM and that one is a little more elegant and much less sweet to me, but I love them both equally.

  7. This is lovely. I tested it awhile ago(very generously was offered a test from a lovely forumite!) and finally got my hands on an imp! :)

This is the ultimate vanilla with a bit of a floral background and linens drying in the distance. Several hours after I put it on the linen/floral-ness goes away and I am left with a slightly somber and beautiful vanilla! It is very similar to Black Opal to me(and to many others it seems also) in that the same soft, dreamy vanilla is present. I also gets hints of Morocco when I sniff my wrist closely whilst the florals are still present.

  8. I wanted to LOVE this one so much but it was not meant to be.

In the bottle: Nice, slightly spicy carnation and lots 'o musk!

On my skin it has a very baby powdery-ness that is very overpowering and a bit too much. I think the musks are too much at first on my skin as that is all I can smell, perhaps the grey amber is adding to that as well.

After 2 hours or so it turns into the most delicious vanilla, very reminiscent on my skin of Elf v4. Sadly I cannot wait through the other stage to get to that point.

For others without my crazy skin chemistry I can imagine this would be vanilla gorgeousness!!

  9. I love Montreal and a lot of the time I visit there I end up wearing Dorian. I wouldn't necessarily say that Dorian reminds me of Montreal as much as it always seems like a good fit while I am there. I would also recommend Morocco as it is beautiful and lasts all day. Montreal to me is a little bit of spice and musk in terms of scent, and a little bit of vanilla. :)

  10. On my skin this is a true morpher. At first I get a creamy pineapple, slightly boozy, then it shifts into a soapy, rose-tinged phase. After several minutes it is turning into a sweet cherry. Very fruity and cheerful at this stage. Very light throw. Not sure I need more of this, but I do love the cherry stage!

  11. This is gorgeous!!! To me it smells very similar to the Lush Twilight bath bomb and I LOVE that scent. It is a gorgeous lavender with amber(which is smelling more like tonka on me), vanilla, and a hint of spice. This one holds close to my skin and is absolutely stunning! I agree with everyone that mentioned TKO, similar, but lovely in it's own unique way! :wub2:

  12. Many thanks to the awesome person who frimped me some of this to try. :)

This is vanilla cake on me with cream cheese frosting. The released version of this was a bit heavier on me, but this is more light and fluffly. It does remind me of a softer Beaver'versary. Very light throw on me, but a soft and lush vanilla is lingering. Really nice!

  13. I really liked the prototype I tried at Will Call, which seemed more vanilla-y on me and less sharp, but maybe my chemistry changed.

This has all the elements that should make it work on me, yet somehow it is too sharp. The vanilla is really lovely. There is an ambery/musky quality that takes on a bit of a strong front with my skin which I think is the orris mixing with the saffron. I think if my skin didn't amp the orris this would be a creamy vanilla delight, it reminds me of Underpants in that boozy/saffron way. Time for Celeste to find a new suitor!

  14. I just now noticed this post, but bpal's Sin is very similar to LUSH's Glogg, in my opinion.

I am totally hoarding Glogg. The salesgirl suggested it as a sub of Tramp (it's not, sadly) and I fell head over heels. It's just utterly gorgeous and I love that it has the cinnamon/patchouli deliciousness and the citrus is present but not overbearing or over sweet.

The closest BPAL scent I've found is The Phantom Calliope black cherry, patchouli, cassis, cardamom and verbena. The cassis is sharper than the cinnamon in Glogg and LUSH just has that distinctive citrus that no one else can replicate. It's not an exact dupe but it's pretty good.

While I'm here--anyone have a good perfume dupe of Tramp? Greed is pretty close but, again, there is a very faint hint of citrus in Tramp that really brightens it.

Cheers, guys! I think I'm going to try the Phantom Calliope, since it's been mentioned as similar to both Glogg and Tanin'iver. Also, I'm skin testing the Dodo right now, and it's definately in the same family, to me.

I tried out NIKÊPHOROS yesterday from the Ode to Aphrodite series and it reminded me of Glogg(not 100%) but close enough that I am tempted to get a bottle.

  16. This is for the 2010 Snow White.

Snow White is hard for me to describe. It has a very bright feel to it, it reminds me of wild cherry, which I think is how I am interpreting the almond/marzipan-ness of this. This doesn't go into plastic territory for more than a minute(unlike 2007 which was very plastic and unpleasant on me. This one reminds me of my 2008 bottle I used to have).

On my skin this has a pretty floral quality, and while I don't smell vanilla per se, I definitely think it is in there sweetening things up. I smell a slight bit of pine(similar to the type in The Jersey Devil) and not too much mint, although the oil has a "cold" quality that is probably from mint.

I love Snow White and I only need to use a tiny bit for it to be noticeable. Nice throw and I am glad I got a bottle again! :)

  17. As others have noted this is a very pretty, airy spray. I get a lot of vanilla mixed with a breezy orchid scent with a little kick of champagne. I don't love it, but I do really like it. :) This has really grown on me and it has a very nostalgic smell to it.

  18. This is a very feminine beautiful spray that reminds me a lot of The Girl(and a little bit of Vasilissa). It has that same very perfumeyness(that is a word now! hehe!) of The Girl with a more laid-back smokey vanilla, soft musk, and a whole lot of amber. This gave me a really big headache, which is unfortunate as I LOVE this but can't handle the head pain vs. the nice smell. I always try to make amber work for me, but it usually doesn't want to play nice, but that's okay as the lovely Blondes are on their way to a new home!

  19. Anyone know anything that's like the british blondes? I'm loving the atmo spray, and it doesn't seem to hurt my skin, but I'd prefer to not be spraying it on me. I love the crisp orchid and the drydown of lovely vanilla musk.

British Blondes smells a bit like The Girl and Vasilissa to me, it has that same ultra-feminine musky feel to me(probably closer to The Girl, but Vasillisa has a similar feel to me as well).

  20. Sugar Plum Fairy and I almost didn't have the torrid love affair we are now engaged in!

I tried this straight from my ice box of a mailbox and it smelled very "eh", sort of plum, very sweet, and not for me.

After it was not ice cold however I decided to take a sniff and it smelled beautiful. I definitely get a sweet plum, but fortunately this does not go in the Hope and Faith candied/powdery direction that sweet fruits and/or flowers do on my skin and instead is almost a sour(in a fruity way) scent. As someone else noted it reminds me of Rosy Maple and to me a little like Pom. 2 in it's sweet, lemony, fruity feel!

On my skin I definitely smell the apricot and plums. As others have noticed I think the tiare and musk are keeping this from being over the top sweet and turning it a bit perfumey(in a gorgeous way). This is incredibly wearable and fun, perfect for work and not overwhelming if I slather a little too much on! I don't necessarily smell the cacao, and the vanilla is apparent only at the very end of the dry down for me. I love this! :wub2:

  21. This smells lovely! It has the same ginger ale-ness as Polynesian Pop(not boozy, but fizzy like P. Pop) and a creaminess that is mostly vanilla, soft and warm. I don't get any cinnamon, or if it is there it is very subtle, which is excellent as cinnamon runs wild with my skin chemistry and overpowers all usually. This has decent throw and is sweet without being super foodie. The ginger is zingy, but not super spicy at all, just light and fun. This will be great all year round!

  22. This starts out as a lily-heavy blend on me. The jasmine reminds me of the jasmine in Lush's Alkmaar. This ends up being a little powdery on me, but not unpleasant at all, just not sure it is me. When it is dry I definitely get the vanilla and it is nicest at this point on my skin, soft and sweet, but grounded by the florals. Elegant and pretty, but ultimately not quite right for me.

  23. Black Opal is amazing! :wub2: It smells the same to me in the bottle as it does on and doesn't shift at all. It is consistently gorgeous!

There is definitely the same vanilla as Antique Lace in this(as this smells very similar to AL on my skin)and a very neat mineral-y type note that makes everything earthy almost(not smelling of the earth, but more grounded and less sweet). There is a wonderful muskiness to this as well. The musk reminds me of the musk in Dorian, although way more feminine. Vanilla is the main component of this on my skin and it isn' too foody or sweet, it is just right for me.

The only thing that makes me sad about Black Opal is the throw and longevity. I have to tip the bottle upside down on my wrists 3-4 times and even then I can smell it for about an hour and then it is barely noticeable. It is worth the excessive re-applicationing however, since this is my new favorite blend! Gorgeous!
