  1. What can I say about this little bottle of perfection that hasn't already been said?

Snake Oil is as hot and sultry as a desert sunset. Sweet and thick and languid as spicy vanilla lava flowing from a sugar coated volcano.

I adore this scent, it's long lasting and precious.

  2. First Impression: Juicy, bright, almost cherry like.

Second Impresson: The second it dries the cherries are gone, thank goodness! Now I smell clean, fresh jasmine and that lovely ylang-ylang softness.

Final Analysis: This smells great on, wrapped in a soft, floral blanket. It's very soft. I hope it lasts.

  3. Have any of you experienced any inconsistencies or differences from imp to imp of your oils?

I got an imp of Hellcat awhile back from a repurchase and I love it, it's in my top five. I recently got a mixed lot of imps from ebay and Hellcat was one of them. Now this one is different from my orginal Hellcat. The color is lighter than the first one and the smell is totally different. The first one is bay rummy and the new one is very spicy/cinnamony rum.

    Not a complaint, just curious.

My other duplicates (Bordellox3, Cathedralx2, Carnalx2 came from repurchases/ebay and from the lab) are all exactly the same.

  4. First Impression: Juicy roses, with that thick dragon's blood undertone.

Second Impression: The juiciness remains and the wine essence is peeking out.

I don't find this robust at all, it is elegant and soft.

Final Analysis: Very soft and pretty, subtle. This didn't last on me at all. It's all but gone after only three hours. It's lingered in my hair a bit better. I prefer Blood Lotus to this one.

edited to add: at a recent sniff-a-thon, my lovely friend Tracy absconded with this one!

  5. First Impression: Chocolate!

Second Impression: Willy Wonka's Chocolate River!

Final Analysis: This is delish, but I don't think it's something I'd wear as a personal fragrance too oft.

Edited to add: I began wearing this before bed to send me into a chocolate induced coma and bring about sweet dreams...it works!

  6. First Impression: Warm and woodsy but not dry woodsy.

Second Impression: Smells amazing on my skin. It reminds me of wooden crates full of spices, carried on a ship from far away places. It's warm and wet, woodsy and spicy.

Final Analysis: Love, love, love it. It smells gorgeous in my hair wafting all around me.

Edited to add: This would be hot hot hot on a man. MMMMMM! (cold shower time, hubby's away on business.)

  7. First Impression: When I opened the vial and took a sniff it nearly blew my head off. Strong and potent. And yes, I smell hippy shop.

Second Impression: This is very sensual and long lasting. This dried down to smell like the old lady perfume Tabu. I had such high hopes.

Final Analysis: While I love perfumes that can go the distance, this did not smell good not me at all. Add to the swap list.

  8. First Impression: This takes me back to when Rob and I were courting and he was taking me all around his England. We went to bunch of gorgeous, old stone churches. It especially reminds me of Lincoln Cathedral.

Second Impression: This is beautiful and sexy on my skin. All smoky, resiny, woodsy and just a little sweet.

Final Analysis: I love this as a personal fragrance, it's deep yet light. Not too long lasting. I also think I'll try it as a room scent in the winter.

  9. First Impression: Sweet flowers and juicy fruit.

Second Impression: I can't pick out individual notes in this. This is the smell of the flowers and fruit bowl that an artist is painting in her dimly lit studio. It's romantic and sweet.

Final Analysis: This will be a great scent for the summer, not overpowering, but definitely "there".

  10. First Impression: A more mysterious version of Queen of Hearts and Endymion. Gorgeous, elegant flowers.

Second Impression: Oh this smells lovely on me. It's a womanly floral smell. A woman who looks completely different than what she really is.

Final Analysis: This is another beauty. I love what Beth does with flowers.

  11. First Impression: A thick masculine smell.

Second Impression: This one is a complex mystery. I can't pick out any of the notes other than it reminds me of a musky man.

Final Analysis: Not good on me and hubby doesn't wear fragrance other than Axe body spray.

  12. First Impression: Wet, it's all fig.

Second Impression: On the dry down the orange starts to make it's presence know.

Final Analysis: A very simple, sweet scent. Not sure if this is for me.

  13. First Impression: This has the same cheap cherry note that I didn't like in Bordello. Turns out it's currant and my nose doesn't care for it.

Second Impression: Not as sweet on the drydown, but the currant is still there poking at me.

Final analysis: Not for me, unfortunately.

  14. First Impression: This smells like a very thick smell. I'm not getting the oranges and cream that everyone seems to find, to my dismay!

Second Impression: After the dry down, the orange creamsicle smell comes through, but only just.

Final Analysis: This one didn't smell good on my skin. Body chemistry is an frustrating thing.

  15. As you may have read in my other post about the fertility goddesses, you know that I have two dear friends who are desperate to get pregnant.

Do any of you know if any of Beth's magical blends could be used as a fertility enhancement? I know these oils aren't designed to treat medical conditions, but they do enhance mood, confidence, feelings...so why not something that could help bring about fertility enhancements?

  16. A decadent, deep perfume, lusty and luxuriant. The scent evokes images of velvet-lined Old West cathouses, tightly laced corsets, rustling petticoats and coquettish snarls of pleasure. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.

    First Impression: Cheap-cheerful-cherry.

Second Impression: This is the first BPAL scent that smelled exactly the same wet and dry. This smells exactly like cherry incense dry on the stick.

Final Analysis: This lacked the depth, mystery and emotion of all the others I have tried so far. I was so hoping I would like this, but we didn't agree at all. :P

Oops, forgot to add: This one has tremendous staying power. The longest lasting of the 18 scents I've tried so far.

  17. Under the forms of payment section on your FAQ's it states

"Can I pay by check or money order?

Yes, you certainly may. Please keep in mind, however...

Send the payment off – along with a completed order form – to..."

I was wondering about the "order form". Do you have a specific on in mind that you'd like us to use?

This may not be a frequently asked question, but I thought this might be a place I could have it addressed.

Forms of payment...Would you accept an American Express Gift Cheque as payment? The AMEX site states that they are acceptable anywhere cash is accepted. I get them as gifts now and again and I'm going to want to spend them on your gorgeous creations, Beth!!!

    Thanks, Beth.

  18. First Impression: Industrial strength toilet bowl cleaner while wet. My nose is strange today.

Second Impression: On immediate dry down "fizzy" comes to mind. That must be the cola that everyone is getting. Love Me developed gloriously on me. All warm flowers and spicy sweet vanilla. I can't even really describe it.

Final Analysis: This has taken the top spot on the favorites list. This one has the most spectacular staying power. Over 12 hours later and I can still smell the spicy sweetness on my wrists and in my hair.

I had something lovely and eloquent written down but my browser went wonky and wiped it out. Damn you Bill Gates!

  19. My first order was on March 22nd. It was picked up for processing from CCNow on April 1st and my card was charged the same day. I received my order on April 23rd. So that was a month from order to delivery. And it goes without saying totally worth every single bit of it.

  20. First Impression: Another beauty. I get the roses, jasmine and musk. Beautifully blended.

Second Impression: The jasmine is subtle, perfectly subtle and doesn't take over the whole scent. The rose is subtle as well, with the musk being the backbone.

Final Analysis: I loved this more the longer I wore it. I don't get huge, lush roses, more of petals blowing on a breeze. The musk keeps this warm floral from being flowery and innocent. Sexy, sexy, sexy.
