    Lolita

First Impression: Poignant floral. Second Impression: Oh, this does not smell good on me. The longer it dries the more sharp and bitter it gets. It does not bloom in the lovely way that most of the others have. Final Analysis: My chemistry did evil things while wearing this. Off to swap!

    Ophelia

First Impression: Ahhhh watery roses and lotus. Second Impression: Very innocent but with romantic promises like a beautiful white wedding. Final Analysis: This is nice, pretty and soft. It hasn't captured my heart and imagination like some of Beth's other florals, but this one is lovely for spring days. ETA: I've just worn this again and it's gone terribly sharp and biting on me. Oh well, perhaps in the swap pile.

    Morella

First Impression: I don't smell sage at all. It smells baby soft. Second Impression: This smells just like my baby nephew PJ in fresh baby pj's washed in All Baby Care Plus. I just adore it. I almost cried when I sniffed my wrist. Final Analysis: A beatiful baby soft smell. It lasted pretty well. I can't wait to wear it again.

    Succubus

First Impression: Extremely sharp and soapy. Second Impression: Wet and drying it's still very sharp green soapy smell. I smell none of the oranges much to my dismay. It's all neroli attacking my nostrils. Final Analysis: Not as sharp on the dry down, but all I can smell is neroli. I'm disappointed. And for all that sharpness, this scent lasted only minutes on my skin.

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

You came to the right place. Beth does the most amazing things with Patchouli. You won't find any of that dirty hippy feet smell here. May I suggest... Greed Anne Bonny Voodoo They all have an almost sweet feel about them, not foody, just gorgeous.

    Venice

Initial Impression: Reminded me instantly of my dear friend Tracy. Second Impression: This is a complex and sophisticate scent. It reminds me of a department store perfume only done better, done right. It smells juicy, red, spicy and flowery. Final Analysis: I wanted to adore this one on me and although Old Venice is lovely, it is just not for me. It's getting placed in a handmade card with the description and a graphic from the BPAL website and given to Tracy this weekend. She's going to love it.

    Siberian Musk

I'm just the opposite, I love musks and they looove me. I fell in love with this one. It reminds me of an old-fashioned men's aftershave. It is very masculine but because it has a hint of sweetness about it, it's perfect for a girl too. I can see wearing this often. I must try and get some of this onto my husband. SWOON!

    Egyptian Amber

Yes, this is smooth, sweet, mellow and gorgeous. This would be perfect for adding additional depth to some of the "thinner" scents. It's soft and strong at the same time.

    Greed

First Impression: Warm and woodsy, deep and rich. Second Impression: I love this one. It has a sweetness about it which makes the patchouli not so earthy. Final Analysis: Another winner. Smells beautiful on me, though it's a very rich scent it's not heavy at all. It was very warm today and it was just about right for the day. It's been about 5 hours since I've applied it. It's barely there on my sking but still very present in my hair. This may sound silly, but this is what I imagine Orlando Bloom would smell like.

    Snake Oil

What can I say about this little bottle of perfection that hasn't already been said? Snake Oil is as hot and sultry as a desert sunset. Sweet and thick and languid as spicy vanilla lava flowing from a sugar coated volcano. I adore this scent, it's long lasting and precious.

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

Thank you Lady, that probably explains why all my other dupes are identical 'cept for Hellcat. Things happen, a shame though. The original Hellcat is gorgeous!

    Luna

First Impression: Juicy, bright, almost cherry like. Second Impresson: The second it dries the cherries are gone, thank goodness! Now I smell clean, fresh jasmine and that lovely ylang-ylang softness. Final Analysis: This smells great on, wrapped in a soft, floral blanket. It's very soft. I hope it lasts.

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

Have any of you experienced any inconsistencies or differences from imp to imp of your oils? I got an imp of Hellcat awhile back from a repurchase and I love it, it's in my top five. I recently got a mixed lot of imps from ebay and Hellcat was one of them. Now this one is different from my orginal Hellcat. The color is lighter than the first one and the smell is totally different. The first one is bay rummy and the new one is very spicy/cinnamony rum. Not a complaint, just curious. My other duplicates (Bordellox3, Cathedralx2, Carnalx2 came from repurchases/ebay and from the lab) are all exactly the same.

    Blood Rose

First Impression: Juicy roses, with that thick dragon's blood undertone. Second Impression: The juiciness remains and the wine essence is peeking out. I don't find this robust at all, it is elegant and soft. Final Analysis: Very soft and pretty, subtle. This didn't last on me at all. It's all but gone after only three hours. It's lingered in my hair a bit better. I prefer Blood Lotus to this one. edited to add: at a recent sniff-a-thon, my lovely friend Tracy absconded with this one!

    Updating the FAQ.

We're pulling for you guys! Wishing all the luck and success for your business, Beth. You're the best in the biz.

    Bliss

First Impression: Chocolate! Second Impression: Willy Wonka's Chocolate River! Final Analysis: This is delish, but I don't think it's something I'd wear as a personal fragrance too oft. Edited to add: I began wearing this before bed to send me into a chocolate induced coma and bring about sweet dreams...it works!

    Anne Bonny

First Impression: Warm and woodsy but not dry woodsy. Second Impression: Smells amazing on my skin. It reminds me of wooden crates full of spices, carried on a ship from far away places. It's warm and wet, woodsy and spicy. Final Analysis: Love, love, love it. It smells gorgeous in my hair wafting all around me. Edited to add: This would be hot hot hot on a man. MMMMMM! (cold shower time, hubby's away on business.)

    Spellbound

First Impression: When I opened the vial and took a sniff it nearly blew my head off. Strong and potent. And yes, I smell hippy shop. Second Impression: This is very sensual and long lasting. This dried down to smell like the old lady perfume Tabu. I had such high hopes. Final Analysis: While I love perfumes that can go the distance, this did not smell good not me at all. Add to the swap list.

    Cathedral

First Impression: This takes me back to when Rob and I were courting and he was taking me all around his England. We went to bunch of gorgeous, old stone churches. It especially reminds me of Lincoln Cathedral. Second Impression: This is beautiful and sexy on my skin. All smoky, resiny, woodsy and just a little sweet. Final Analysis: I love this as a personal fragrance, it's deep yet light. Not too long lasting. I also think I'll try it as a room scent in the winter.
  20. Ina Garten Davita

    Delirium

First Impression: Sweet flowers and juicy fruit. Second Impression: I can't pick out individual notes in this. This is the smell of the flowers and fruit bowl that an artist is painting in her dimly lit studio. It's romantic and sweet. Final Analysis: This will be a great scent for the summer, not overpowering, but definitely "there".
  21. Ina Garten Davita

    Les Fleurs du Mal

First Impression: A more mysterious version of Queen of Hearts and Endymion. Gorgeous, elegant flowers. Second Impression: Oh this smells lovely on me. It's a womanly floral smell. A woman who looks completely different than what she really is. Final Analysis: This is another beauty. I love what Beth does with flowers.
  22. Ina Garten Davita

    Deimos

First Impression: A thick masculine smell. Second Impression: This one is a complex mystery. I can't pick out any of the notes other than it reminds me of a musky man. Final Analysis: Not good on me and hubby doesn't wear fragrance other than Axe body spray.
  23. Ina Garten Davita

    Carnal

First Impression: Wet, it's all fig. Second Impression: On the dry down the orange starts to make it's presence know. Final Analysis: A very simple, sweet scent. Not sure if this is for me.
  24. Ina Garten Davita

    Jester

First Impression: This has the same cheap cherry note that I didn't like in Bordello. Turns out it's currant and my nose doesn't care for it. Second Impression: Not as sweet on the drydown, but the currant is still there poking at me. Final analysis: Not for me, unfortunately.
  25. Ina Garten Davita

    Hunger

First Impression: This smells like a very thick smell. I'm not getting the oranges and cream that everyone seems to find, to my dismay! Second Impression: After the dry down, the orange creamsicle smell comes through, but only just. Final Analysis: This one didn't smell good on my skin. Body chemistry is an frustrating thing.
