    Snake's Kiss

I *really* love this one in the bottle. On my skin, it mellowed out a bit soon after applying and after a few hours I couldn't smell it anymore. It smells mostly of honey on me and there is a sweetness that I believe is the cream. Thank goodness I don't get the lemony scent as it tends to go all Lemon Pledge on me. I will try again and will apply more for (hopefully) longer wear.

    Body, Remember

Good lord, this is a gorgeous scent! I am already in love with Obatala but this is a very different coconut than that and I love it too - maybe more! It starts out as coconut and VERY sweet sugarcane on top, my husband thought it smelled a bit like bathroom cleaner when it was wet (?). It dries down to an absolutely beautiful sweet coconut, a little reminiscent of a "suntan lotion" coconut but not quite. It is a lovely scent and I just ordered two more bottles since it will be gone soon. -Mel

    Muse of the Night

On me I just get a night blooming jasmine with a bit of the ylang ylang - and it is heaven. Also the label is so beautiful!! -Mel

What are good scents for diffusers?

We've been using "Jack" around our house. My hubbie thinks it's too strong on me as a perfume but it makes our home smell lovely and is a great scent for the holidays. -Mel

    The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn was my favorite story as a child and brings back strong memories. I was so happy to hear that the Lab has created a line based on the book and it's NOT a limited edition (yay!!). I just received my Last Unicorn bottle and plan to buy a few more of the series. *The label is SO pretty and delicate! In the bottle: chocolate and lettuce Wet: The chocolate is a lot less noticeable and now the orris and lilac are coming forward. Still smell the chocolate but it's way in the background. Dry: Lilac, iris, orris and violet - this is a VERY lovely scent, not overpowering floral which is death to my allergies, it's light and ethereal. Smells way different in the bottle vs how it wears. Review: I <3 this scent very much, it makes me swoon!!

    Halloween: New Orleans

The distinctive scent of the Mississippi at night mingling with sweet olive and Spanish moss. Oh lab - you have got this one SPOT ON!!! Having lived in New Orleans until I was 23, this brought me right back to those first crisp fall days of Autumn. It's a sweet fragrance, but not too flowery. I love it!! -Mel

    Pomegranate I

Pom 1 goes on strong but mellowed out to be quite a nice fruity scent. I like it but not quite enough to purchase a bottle so I'll use my imp, will be a nice one around the holidays.

    Ghoulish

In the imp: saffron, saffron and more saffron Wet: Helloooo saffron and black cherry!! Actually smelled way stronger than in the imp. Dunno about this one. Dry: Morphed into a lovely cherry/almond extract with a hint of coconut. Can barely smell the saffron now and the overall scent is very light. Conclusion: It's kinda funky on me at first with the saffron overpowering everything, and the mellowed out cherry/almond/coconut is nice and I'll use the imp but will pass on a full bottle.

    Blue Fire

Wow, it smells SO blue!! Smells like a fizzy blueberry/pineapple mix on me, and VERY sweet - can totally understand the PEZ references. I did get a headache about an hour after applying but that may or may not be Blue Fire related. Not sure if this is a keeper for me yet but I'll try it a few more times before deciding. Definitely an interesting scent. Mel

    Tiki Princess

Tiki Princess is a BEAUTIFUL scent, my husband absolutely melts when I wear it so I had to order a backup (and may get another!). Although I don't get a lot of coconut with this one (I am a coconut & Obatala lover), the floral mix is heavenly and reminds me so much of the islands. I also get a whiff of pineapple(?). This is the type of light floral that also doesn't make my allergies go nuts, which makes me very happy. This is the perfect summer scent!! <3 <3 <3 Melanie

    Octopus and Abalone Diver

It went all perfumey on me, smells like something I could get at a department store. My allergy ridden nose can't handle perfumey scents so I have mine up for sale. -Mel

    Jack

Love this one!! The pumpkin and peach go beautifully together, I can't wait until Fall! This smells just like Halloween and the delicious holiday season. A foodie scent for sure! -Melanie

    Bayou

Wow, I'm from New Orleans and Bayou smells like the Garden District after a light rain. Beautiful! I get strong magnolia, Spanish moss and possibly night blooming jasmine or gardenia notes with this one. Great for days when I'm feeling homesick. A lovely fragrance! -Melanie

    Berry Moon 2009

Pure YUMMMM!!! In the bottle: a little funky, I think this is mostly fig I'm smelling Wet: Berries galore!! A little figgy, but now smelling equal parts blueberry and raspberry, yummy! Dry: The fig aroma is mostly gone, now just smelling the berries, this is a nice one!! Melanie

    Pumpkin V (2009)

WOW, this scent changed a lot on me! In the bottle: Kinda funky, mostly pumpkin with a weird note I can't place. Wet: Pumpkins galore! But this quickly went away (in about 5 minutes). Dry: Clove, with a bit of coffee and cinnamon - a really nice blend! Interested to see how this one ages, will definitely wear it a lot in Autumn! This is a really warm, delicious scent, like comfort food for the nose. Melanie

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I had this happen with Obatala! I was frimped an Obatala with my first forum purchase and it was instant LURVE!!! It smelled exactly like fresh coconut meat and it is divine. I immediately ordered a 5ml of this heavenly scent. When it arrived, I was overjoyed and took a sniff - WHOA on the Coppertone suntan lotion!! I was so disappointed that it didn't smell like my imp at all!! I figured that maybe it needed to age a bit and I became really stingy with using my imp while the other "cooks". I recently purchased an aged Obatala on eBay and I am really happy to say that it is the smell I fell for! So I'll let my suntan lotion Obatala sit for a while and I'll use my new "aged" version. I haven't smelled regular Snake Oil yet, but I purchased a partial Womb Furie on the forum and it smells mostly of honey (or maybe a honey/baby powder blend?) to me. I think that might need to age as well, haven't decided if I like it or not yet. Melanie

    Watery &/or Aquatic Florals

I second "Shattered" (or is it thirded or fourthed by now?), it is a very beautiful scent. I'll probably pick up a 5ml with my next lab purchase. Mel

    Womb Furie

Wet: a bit baby powdery - I began to worry! Dry: Honey, honey and more honey! I'm not familiar with Snake Oil (yet) and I am smelling a bit of the spices if I sniff my wrist but the throw is definitely honey. I <3 honey so this is great stuff!! Hubby LOVES it!! -Mel

    Cake Smash

I bought an imp of this because when I heard there was a RED VELVET scented BPAL out there, I had to try it, being a foodie and all, and red velvet cake is my #1 fave. I was in love with it at first, it smells just like yummy cream cheese frosting! It was very strong on me though and although I loved the scent, it started to turn sickly sweet - way too sweet, and I tried to wash some of it off. I soooo wanted this one to work on me!! I also had the same experience with Cupcake Splatter Pattern Analysis, it smelled good at first then got nauseatingly sweet.\\ **EDITED to say that as long as I don't put a lot on, it is really yummy and stays that way. :) -Melanie

    Pink Mood

Bought an imp from a forum member last week. What an interesting scent! It's very pretty and the star anise makes it a bit unusual. I like anise and love BPAL's Absinthe to death so I thought I might like this one and I adore it! Wet - Star Anise, Star Anise, Star Anise!! Dry - The anise is very light but I am amping cherry blossom and violet!! <3 <3 <3 Very nice, I like it, just purchased a partial bottle from a forum member! Too bad a lot of others are seeming to have bad luck with this one. Well I just got "baby powder" a few forum favorites, so I'm happy to have found one that works for me. -Melanie Edited to say I love it so much that I also just purchased a 5ml from the lab.

Milk Chocolate, Coconut, Cardamom, Rum, and Ginger Truffle

Yum Yum Yum!! At first, I thought it was kinda gross - when it was wet, it didn't smell good at all (too much cardamom?) but then quickly dried down to a chocolate, coconut and ginger scent that is really delicious! My previous chocolate perfume, Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Vanilla Coco smells just like Cocoa Puffs on me so this one is definitely more of a mature scent. I had bought an imp from someone, fell in love and immediately purchased a bottle within 5 minutes. -Melanie

    Candles Moon

In the bottle, it is AMAZING!!! You can smell all the notes described, and it's very sweet smelling. Once on my wrist, this is all blackberry, spices and beeswax on me. It's a bit more perfumey than I'm used to but I really like this one! Great job, BPAL!! -Melanie ****After wearing this for a few hours, my allergies decide they don't like it. Listed in the For Sale/Sawps section.

    Velvet Clown

Wow, I was getting drunk on the fumes until it dried! Wet, it was seriously boozy and I was questioning the wearability of it, especially at work! Once dried, it has a nice caramel & cotton candy scent that I am liking quite a bit! Kinda wish I could smell the greasepaint note because I'm a makeup artist and that would be a fun touch but ah, well. **Edited to say that I spoke too soon! Greasepaint is there now and I am elated!! German Expressionist Horror

I just received German Expressionist Horror - my favorite genre of all time, so I felt compelled to get it - and I LOVE IT!! In the bottle, I smell the pine needle and musk. After having it on a while, it smells mostly of musk and myrrh (love myrrh). I was worried that the patchouli would drown out the other notes, but it's very subtly blended and quite nice. This is definitely my go to scent for when I'm feeling dark and moody. -Melanie

    What's the best coconut blend?

OBATALA is my fave, I don't get a suntan lotion smell from it, it's more like I'm eating raw coconut meat right from the shell. In fact, I have a very distinct memory of when my husband and I went to Maui for our 10th anniversary and we stopped at a roadside stand and bought coconut meat from some kids. This smells exactly like that, yummmm. Black Pearl unfortunately smells masculine on me. I haven't tried any others yet but that's my 2 cents. -Mel
