    Bewitched

in the imp: this is really sweet and juicy! judging from the notes, i thought that this would be something a little more mature and provocative, but this reminds me strangely enough of chewy, squishy-sweet jelly bears! sniffie meets skin: from my previous experience with snow bunny, i've discovered life-long cuddly sentiments towards berries. i'm getting the sweetest, juiciest black berries as the main scent, with just a teensy undercurrent of tea to warm it up. if the woodland witches smelt like this, i would definitely want to befriend them. this is such a welcoming and sweetly comforting scent. still, i wish it had better throw; unlike snow bunny where the berries burst into dance the moment i opened my imp, these berries run a litle closer to the skin. very lovely though; i can imagine the bf being partial to this blend. * big bottle worthy? i'm not sure yet.. but i'll definitely be reaching for my imp very very often. love!!

    High-Strung Daisies

in the imp: i got this as a frimp from a sweetheart ^___^ i'm really glad she included this because based on the scent notes, i wouldn't have gotten this myself at all. carnation is the note of death on me, and i've never been acquainted with pink pepper, so that's another risk. still, i guess anything pink ought not to be *too* bad. so here we go! on first sniff, this blend makes me want to giggle. it's all pink pink pink! sweet, sugared daisies are peeking out to say "hello!" it's a little reminiscent of bubblegum, but there's something grounding it to keep it from getting too foody or sily. i can't wait to sprinkle this on myself. sniffie meets skin: i'm almost expecting the oil to turn pink, based on how pink the scent is. this is such a pretty, light floral scent.. very playful and young, this makes me feel like a little girl again! i'm starting to get a whiff of the dreaded carnations, but these are really pretty here, unlike the ones of death that i got in alice and posset's silver carnations. this is right up my alley.. i've come to discover that most blends with sugar in it can't go too wrong. i just wish that it was stronger. this is very light and subtle on me with a very mild throw. i want to dance in a pink cloud of it! * maybe the trick is that i need to slather this on more generously. otherwise, this is an adorable little blend. i'm not sure if i'll be getting a bottle of this, because there are just soooo many things on my wishlist. but we'll see!

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

in the imp: this surprises me, but i actually can't smell anything. either i need a new nose, or this blend is really really subtle in the bottle. i get the lightest vanilla-touched sandalwood. hmm. sniffie meets skin: i've been hunting and waiting for this blend for AGES, so i'm determined that this should work. hoho. but i'm still getting nothing.. hmph. maybe i need to wait for the oil to dry before the magic happens. only it doesn't. possibly the strongest thing i can pick up is the white sandalwood.. unfortunately, sandalwood and i have never seen eye to eye. where's the vanilla and the sweet pea?! * i'm going to have to give this another try another day. there's something about my skin that is eating up this blend. sigh. still, it seems to work for everyone else, so at least there's the swap pile. poor mouse.

BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?

i don't have children, but if i did, these would what they would wear: - titania - pure, fairy princess! - the unicorn - boo - TKO - 2, 5, 7 and maybe even shanghai. i can imagine children loving plastic pink flamingo, lawn gnome, velvet unicorn and pink snowballs as well.. if not for anything else, then for the names alone. in fact, they're high on my wish list.. i'm such a child. ^___^

    Titania

in the imp: titania is a beautiful, sparkling, fruity sweet blend. right out of the imp, i'm getting a gorgeous mix of peach, pear and petals. it's so light, it's almost shimmering. if this isn't a fae scent, i have no idea what is. i can't wait to slather it all over myself. sniffie meets skin: unlike other blends which morph a little upon coming in contact with my skin, titania remains more or less the same. this is an almost crystalline scent, as pure as morning dew on sleepy petals and is as delicate as it is sweet. despite its sweetness though, it's never foodie or cloying. there's nothing to mar the innocence of this blend. everything is pure, sparkling white. absolutely wonderful. i definitely need a big bottle of this. ** as an additional note, i tried oberon on my fiance; while oberon isn't exactly my favourite blend due to the presence of patchouli, which is always a bad thing for me, i love the scent combination of titania and oberon. definitely try a mix of the fairy queen and king.. i promise the results will be heavenly.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

i used to really shy away from vanilla, but now, my love for that sweet creaminess has grown.. so here i am! ^___^ the different vanilla blends i've tried in the past include: - snake oil - i'm not fond of indonesian spices, and those were overwhelming on my skin, it was a no-no. - O - i discovered through this blend and agrat-bat-malaht that honey and amber do nothing for my senses.. so unfortunately, no. - antique lace - much better.. but still, i found it rather meh on my skin. which is a good thing i guess, since it's so hard to acquire now. - dorian - gorgeous gorgeous smexy vanilla tea in a bottle. one of my favourite blends. - boo - wonderfully sweet sugared vanilla.. possibly one of my favourite BPAL blends. - the girl - i know vanilla isn't one of the listed notes, but it was there for me. unfortunately, amber got in the way again. - TKO - nailed it, this is the perfect blend. the vanilla is a mix of sugary and creamy for me.. simply gorgeous. i'm a big fan of lavender though, so lavender-haters won't get anything out of this. so far, my favourite vanillas come from TKO, boo and dorian in that order. i would love to try a vanilla and honey blend though.. something like O without the amber. any suggestions for that one?

    Black Butterfly Moon

in the bottle: black butterfly moon was my first ever bottle purchase and i have to admit that i bought it because i thought it had a really pretty name and scent description. the notes sounded pretty enough too, so in it went in the cart. so, i was quite unprepared for the strong resin-y introduction that i had upon first sniff. in the bottle, BBM smells rather intimidating; it's darkness tinged with a backdrop of night flowers and i can imagine myself lost in the dark woods after a midnight shower. i have to admit, the blend smelt so uninviting that it was at least one year before i decided to take the plunge and do this skin test. sniffie on skin : the woodsy, resiny smell lingers and permeates the room as i find myself led deeper and deeper into the forest. the smell is sharp, yet almost pleasing in a strange way. this black butterfly is a real temptress, drawing me further in her haunting spell. i have to admit that my nose isn't trained enough to distinguish the whispers of flowers in the background, but they're definitely there, just a little more prominent than they had been in the bottle. as time passes, the blend mellows and the woods give way to a clearing of night blooming petals and soft damp moss. this is a really evocative blend, and while i can't really see myself wearing it as perfume, especially in the day, i'll definitely be reaching for it again. conclusion: i'm so glad that my first bottle will be remaining with me. bless that little butterfly.

    Seraphim

in the imp: a floral mix of sandalwood and frankincense.. not sure that i'm completely sold. sniffie meets skin:the marriage of sandalwood and frankincense persists and i'm starting to regret this a little; still, i really want to love this scent because of its namesake. thankfully, i'm starting to get gentle whiffs of rose dancing on the wind. it's kinda like being in an old study with its shelves of wood, and rose flavoured incense on the desk. unfortunately, this scent seems very much mature, like a refined and polished professor, who must have been heart-stopping in her youth. as the scent matures though, more florals are coming into play and the sandalwood and frankincense are retiring into the background. unfortunately, while i was hoping for wet, fresh florals, this smells more like a bowl of potpourri to me. it's pleasant enough, but this isn't really what i'd expect a heavenly host to smell like. i suspect that sandalwood just doesn't like me at all.. which is a pity. i was hoping for another rose blend to add to my circle of loved bpals, but this wasn't meant to be. verdict: i'm glad i got this as an imp. i can imagine this being really pretty on someone with the right skin chemistry though.

    Dorian

in the imp: there's wifts of sweet, creamy vanilla floating up tantalizingly.. i almost feel like i can drink this smell. it's almost warm, like vanilla honey slipping down your throat.. but strangely enough, i'm not getting whiffs of tea. which is a bit of a let down because i really love the bergamot fragrance of earl grey. still, this is really quite lovely. i can't wait to put it on. sniffie meets skin: yummilicious. i'm wearing dorian on my wrist and neck and the beautiful vanilla is surrounding me like a warm blanket. i'm getting hints of musk now, which enacts a cozy feeling, like i'm lying against warm scented cushions in a victorian arm chair. it's starting to mature a little.. nothing too sweet or cloying. this is a refined scent with just a hint of lavender to put me at ease. i'm surprised by how feminine this scent is on me.. i was prepared for something more androgynous, but i'm not complaining. it's not foody at all; i don't do gourmand scents.. and even antique lace's vanilla was a bit too much for me. i wish it had a better throw on me though.. although i guess the fact that you have to cozy up in order to appreciate it makes this blend just that bit more sexy. right now, i'm very much loving the blend. will update this after i've worn the blend for longer. for now, i'm off to enjoy my little private time with dorian, so excuse moi. ETA: i was wrong about the throw, Dorian's presence is indisputable, but never overbearing. this is a polished, dignified gentleman.. yet, there is just a bit of darkness which weighs the scent down. there's sugar, but this is in no way a buoyant scent. i'm starting to get a tinge of an antique sophistry to it, a very subtle mix of bitter tea leaves and ferns lying quietly beneath the creamy, seductive vanilla. this is a really deep blend. i can't wait to try it on my love. i'd better make sure that no one's home when i do though, because this is just the scent that unlocks some carnal desires. Dorian is very sensual, very loved.
  10. I haven't had the chance to look at this thread in detail... but does anyone know of any scent that has a note of chinese tea in it? Specifically Pu-er if you know what I'm talking about. I love the nostalgia that Pu-er evokes and always have one cup of it everyday!
