Very late to answer this, but although I've never smelled Dance of Death, I know there are two bizarrely distinct Fire of Love's running around. Apparently the current incarnation I recently got in bottle form is kind of a green/herby rose scent to my nose--the one I have a couple treasured imps of that was what I thought I would get when I ordered a 5ml was a kind of spicy dry wood scent (kind of like Aureus with spices). Which one is the 'real' FoL I'm not sure.

Very strong, but very lovely...I have a hard time picking out notes here. On me though, this is Inez's older, more flamboyant cousin.

I finally did get a reply which was that all the versions of Fire of Love they had now are rosy, and Bill had no idea if there was supposed to be cedar in it at all. He said there are always slight variations, but there shouldn't be anything that extreme. I offered to send them one of my 'real' imps of Fire of Love if they could figure out what it was that I had so I could get it, but I haven't heard back on that score. I guess I'll just hoard my couple imps in the meantime.

I wish we could specify -- there are several blends that seem to have notable variants, and I'd love to be able to say, for example, "Not the cakey one" or "Not the orange Pez one." Let us know if you get an official statement back from the lab, please? I sent two very polite query type emails about a month apart, and I've never heard back. <shrugs> I would have liked at least some kind of response, even 'We think you're insane.'

If your Witch lived near you, would you be happy or creeped out to get a "coupon" for a service like cleaning help or babysitting or dogwalking or coffee out with your Witch or something like that? Would you be creeped out if a local minion personally delivered a package to your house from a far-away Witch? i would not be creeped out, and i think it would be great to actually meet a witch (mine or minion) though probably arranging to meet out for coffee or something would be the best bet since a) shared house space, b.)wonky dog, c)wonkier schedule. I have brown/henna'd auburn hair, so most colors are ok. not a fan of most pastels though. Favorite snack foods (and can they be from bulk section as well?) I do love gummies (mostly things like the haribo gold bears, gummi worms sour and otherwise, fruit slices), unsulfured dried fruit, sesame sticks, popcorn, a particular rice cracker mix i can't find anymore (think it was called nooshi? something like that), nuts, yogurt-covered stuff...yeah, i'm a grazer.

So...when there seem to be two very distinct variants, as in Fire of Love (the reviews mention the predominant cedar/spicy blend and a more lemony floral type), is there any way to request one of them when you order? I adore the cedary FoL, have used like 3 imps of it, and finally sprang for a bottle, and the bottle smells...green. At first I thought maybe the labels with one of my other bottles got messed up, but after reading the reviews for the other, and then reading the reviews for Fire of Love and seeing the review variations, I think I got the green FoL. Terribly disappointing--it's not a bad scent, maybe even something I'd wear for spring, but it's not *my* Fire of Love. I'd keep this one and just reorder in a heartbeat, except that I don't know if I'd actually get the cedar one this time either. I did email the lab last week but I figure they're probably pretty busy.

Tzadikim Nistarim also comes to mind: The scent is one of unadulterated spiritual purity, with a taste of the world's eternal pathos, and the joy of suffering with grace: frankincense, olive, spikenard, hyssop and galangal. Okayaki is also really pretty--kind of sweet and clean without being really floral.

Geek.Goth was a fantastic lemon-lime soda scent. Polynesian Pop was great in the imp but sadly doesn't play nice with me. My fizziest GC so far has been Twenty-One, not as much citrus to me but the same vibe as Geek.Goth

I'll second Coyote as a nice light musk. It's just kind of soft and sweet and...fuzzy. I'm also a big fan of The Butterfly, on me it's not a strong scent, but it lasts forever. I amp O and The Lion to high heaven, so ymmv on those being light scents. I remember White Rabbit being fairly light when I tried it, and although it doesn't have any of your notes (it doesn't have your notes of doom either), Kumiho is a gorgeous light, clean scent. Oh, you might try a scent locket too? I know when I wear mine, I can smell faint whiffs of my perfume throughout the day, but it doesn't seem like anyone else can.

Another lab frimp that I never would have tried on my own, and I'm so very glad I ended up with it. On my skin, this is a clean, less sweet cousin of Geek Goth. I don't get a really boozy note, I get sparkling not-quite-citrus-with-a-breath-of-herby(juniper?), and it stays true from imp to skin. Love it.

I was not going to touch this one since the only other melon scent I tried (Ogun) was awful on me. However, since I had a lab frimp... It works! In the imp and first applied it's WHOAMELON, but a nice true melon scent. After it's sat a while I start getting a little citrus, and maybe a touch of tea and florals peeking out. The mint never shows up, but that's fine with me. Like most light scents it doesn't seem to last on me, but it will be a lovely summer scent to carry around, or maybe use in my locket.

Oh, wow. This is totally a Butterfly scent--fuzzy, soft, but with a kind of iridescence from the bergamot. The bergamot is a very clear note here, which I love, but after it's burned off a bit I get a soft, powdery amber mingling with it and it's just such a soft, lovely scent. It threatens to pick up a tiny bit of sweet plastic from somewhere, but never quite goes that far. Just gorgeous.

I'd stayed away from this originally because of the anise, but I ended up with an imp in an impswap and I'm so glad I did. I don't get a lot of cumin out of this, but I do get the mandarin and clove, and even some anise, which blended with the rest isn't awful at all. Although I can pick out notes pretty clearly, it melds into a lovely sweet spicy tangy scent, and after it sits on my skin for a little while it mellows and gets sweeter. It reminds me of a really nice potpouri, but it is DEAD SEXY potpouri. It's lovely, and the wearlength is pretty good on me. Pretty much instant top 3. Had I tried this when it was live I would have had like 4 bottles.

I do love soaps, most of what I've been getting for myself recently are from Chagrin Valley, which I adore, except that they have very little scent to them at all (favorites anyway are citrus woods green tea, the coffee shampoo bar, citrusy clean smelling things), I've gotten sample pieces in swaps from Haus of Gloi (aduwa and absinthe were both lovely, and everything listed on her website for scents sounds fabulous, as do her halloween scents..<sits on hands before placing an order>), Arcana, and probably one or two others, and that's always fun. From Paintbox I mostly get the sorbettos and the occasional slip (glycerin soap dries my skin out, oddly), and favorite scents so far have been Olive Tree, Gold Frank and Myrhh, Big in Japan (and if you mix the sorbetto with GFM you get what I call The Ghost of Empress Past which is fabulous ), Indian Summer and Gingermilk both sound lovely. Oh, and I keep playing around with ideas for a smack on Villainess and never order, lol. (a few of her scents sound really interesting too). I'd also list Hunter as a warm, lived-in leather scent...it's rich and very leathery, but in a comforting worn kind of way.

I smell a lot of vetiver in this, but it's one of those things that I'm not sure I love, but I have to keep sniffing anyway? I guess vetiver is my trainwreck note? Under the vetiver I get some apricot, and very faintly the coconut. Unfortunately the more it dries the more the sugar comes out and it ends up a smoky/acrid/cloying/chemically mess.

I so wanted to love this, it was such a sweet, lovely pear scent in the bottle and first applied. Of course the sugar note historically hates me, and this is no different. On the drydown I end up with a plasticky, white musk-y sweetness and that's all.

#143 This is a total morpher on me, and I'm having a really hard time picking out the amber. Bizarre and fun and pleasant but not something I can really see myself wearing. In the bottle and wet it's very foody, reminds me of Teatime in Roswell without the cucumber note, but there's an almost back-of-the-throat-after-you've-whiffed hint of citrus. Briefly I was strongly reminded of Aelopile, but once this settled it was more of a...lemony bakery smell? I thought citrus was supposed to burn off first rather than be the last man standing, but the end result seems to be lightly tangy with a sweet toastiness underneath. Very much a foody blend on me. #34 I totally can't pin this one down...at times it's smoke and vetiver, and then it reminds me a lot of Scorpio with the kind of dirty rootbeer vibe. Might have to age this one and see if it turns into something amazing.

The East is my flower field scent. Also, Aurora Spaceship was pretty good for that.

I just decanted from my bottle of O today and about dropped it. I've gotten two imps of it fresh from the lab, and they were both completely colorless (which led to me buying a partial from a friend--I loves my O). The bottle I bought (a year old) smells just like my fresh imps, only smoother, so I figured it had just aged into mellowness, and I've only ever wanded it on...I thought I grabbed the wrong bottle to decant today since the color of my bottled O is closer to that of S.O. or Fenris Wolf.

In the bottle this is so lovely, it's cold tea with fresh mint and only a tiny bit of sweetness. Gennivre strikes me as something that might make a good unisex/men's scent. Unfortunately on my skin it disappears almost instantly, though it's lovely just to waft the bottle under my nose as a pick-me-up.

Based on this scent, red musk has shot up about equal with golden musk as a scent love adoration. On me this isn't masculine at all, it's a sweet, rich, woody scent, and it manages to be both sexy and comforting at the same time. I love to wear it as a bellydance class scent. Fenris Wolf does get a little woodier on the drydown for me, but it's still warm and gorgeous. Love it! This actually reminds me a lot of Fire of Love, it's just softer and warmer, FoL has a little more of a sharp spiciness in the wood.

I was so generously gifted a tester of this and OMGLOVE. Very sweet, very citrus, very bubbly, and unlike most really sweet blends the sugar aspect isn't doing any weird morphing on me. It's got good throw for a citrus, and it makes me smile every time I get a whiff.
