    Wiley's Swamp

First thought was that it smells like someone built a bakery in the middle of a swamp. The chestnut popped out and dominated when wet and first applied. It got a bit of that laundry crystals smell on the drydown, that others mentioned. I didn't perceive it that way though. It's more like nice piles of crystalline flowers surrounding a green still pond. This doesn't have much of a "watery" smell (otherwise my nose would reject it instantly). Just fresh, lovely, with a nutty back that keeps it well-balanced. I really like it!!

    Diwali

I got this as part of a wonderful surprise giftie pack. I dabbed it then said "I smell like Christmas!... at Lush!" Meaning it has a mingling of snowcake, spicy mulled bathbombs, and heady self-indulgent plant and floral mixtures. This is a winner! Spicy cake foodiness with slight incense wet. Very foody as it develops. Soft and lovely on drydown. It's like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket and sipping warm spiced almond milk. mmmmm.....

    Has No Hanna

This is a great morpher. In imp: smells floral like a nice herbal hair conditioner. Wet: a can't pick out what flower this is and it's driving me nuts! I do like it though. Has a refreshing feeling (like washing your hair with a nice conditioner...) there's a bit of ginger spiciness and maybe a touch of gardenia and carnation? If given access to the labs single notes I'd be able to figure out this puzzle. there's a slight soapiness. Not in a bad way. Actually keeps it nice and refreshing. Drydown: aaahh. I see. maybe geranium..touch of ginger? splash of violet? no.. maybe my nose is tricking me because of geranium. anyways.. it's really nice!

Recommend a scent for a specific dress or outfit

Croquet! Maybe Champagne and Strawberries too.. hmm.

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

The Sleeping Beauty. A gentle, lovely scent, slightly soporific, but beautiful in its quiet repose. Plumeria and white pear, Damascus rose, tuberose, magnolia and evening dew. Off the bat, I thought this had tea rose in it. There's a non-muted rose that my senses are screaming about. However, the pear comes out pretty quickly. Fruity girly feminine clean rose! Not bad.

    Nyx

This is a lovely scent. The jasmine is strong in imp and wet, however settles on the drydown. I notice the jasmine in imp, myrrh burst when wet, and the rose comes out in drydown. A lovely melodic morpher! Simple and has good staying power and throw. Turns a little sweet on me when dry. Mmmm.

    Black Death

Iiinnnterllestiiinggg. And diabolical. This is black magic during an oppressively humid night. Every note can be easily defined. This stays true from imp to finish. Gives off the smell of a dark & stormy, mixed with bay rum, wafting off a man that lives off a straight syrupy fruit diet that oozes from his pores. whoa!

    Jack

Smells a bit like halloween themed candles. Wet, sweet, clovey. I was anticipating a more raw pumpkin smell off the bat but it took a few minutes for this to appear. This is candy sweet to start and smoky to finish. Very nice! Thanks Eezterbunny!

    Black Heart

muddled sweet pea. Like a spritzer infused cocktail. Interesting if you think of it in alcoholic terms! haahha This is a bit grapey off the bat when wet. I think its the plum and sweetpea combo. however, the pomegranate comes out on drydown with a touch of sandalwood dryness. I really don't like the in imp or wet part. Nice when dry! Lovely gift from a lovely person.

    Sybaris

I had to really slather this on to get all the notes and especially the violet. On a light application, this smelled like dirty dishes and I was totally repulsed! So, after slathering: In imp: wet spice, slight murky violet. Wet: violet however the strength of the clove is eclipsed and tricking my nose into thinking it's something weird and undefinable. bummer. Small amount of incense. Drydown: not bad. leatherish backing. Like violets and spice on leather. Don't get fooled, this is not a sweet scent! Think a non-obnoxious version of highwayman. I'll dub this Highwaywoman. hahahha!

    Mag Mell

Well, since I accidentally just dumped this all over my pants, I might as well do a review, huh? In imp: green with a sweet backing. I can smell the rain note strongly here. Wet: whew. rain note softens, verbena pops out with the grass smell. The sage is ever so slight and getting washed away by what else is going on. Drydown: not bad. Verbena smooths out. Medium throw. Non-offensive soft sweet green. Not a total favorite because the general impression reminds me of a couple Bath and Body works scents.

    Eos

I confess I've already used more than half the imp and slathered this on myself continuously. Creamy dreamy light glowing jasmine. In imp: jasmine is stronger here. I can smell skin musk and honeysuckle with a slight buttercup. Wet: This really simulates glowing skin! There's a burst of skin musk with a sweet amber undertone. I've actually smelled vivacious persons such as this... weird! The jasmine, even though listed as a larger ingredient, stays pretty tame and sweet. These flowers are not as direct and kapow as I thought they would be. It's like you're wearing a wreath or crown of them. The central note remains the sweet skin musk however it doesn't skunk my nose like musk is wont to do. I wouldn't have thought that it would temper the flowers so well! Drydown: soft lovely glowy edible..ungh. New favorite. No sourness, morphing, or suffocation. I wish it would hang out longer but oh well! That's what BPAL sells bottles for! If I don't time the next shipment right, I'll be out of the imp and skulking around the house for a week or 2, inconsolably.

    Crossroads

The forks of the road: an in-between place, sacred and tangibly magickal in innumerable cultures and faiths. This scent is dark with mystery, taut with power. A chill twilit garden of blooms over dry earth and mosses, heavily laden with incense and offertory herbs. In imp: this smells like grandma's perfume. Something that made them feel contemporary and refined in the 50's and 60's. easily recognizable. Wet: the fun kicks in. this is the warm dirt smell that does well on me and amps to high heaven. This turns a little sweet like Penny Dreadful. Drydown: sweeter and the florals get headier. dirt is moist and gives me an impression of magnolias and honey mixed with clay and baked in the sun like a mud pie! Yay!

    Somnus

Lavender for sure. I can't really pick out much else! Maybe thyme? I did use it last night as a sleep aid, which worked wonderfully. Softens nicely and smells a bit like fruity pebbles. How weird is that?!

    Penny Dreadful

Love it!!! Another frimp. Much sweeter than expected. In imp: dirt and florals Wet: boom! girly sweetness pops out. I guess the unexpected twist in the story. Drydown: lovely flowers that I can't place my finger on. everything else is still there.

    Osun

This was a kind and unexpected frimp. I really love this one. Brassy, herbal, honey sweet and no powder. Wine like when wet and dries to a bouncy green sweetness. Very nice!

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

Guess I'm getting a little too bold for my britches with these experiments into hated territory (violets being one). Violet Ray gave me courage to try another blend. Wet: the violet explodes. My facial expression is akin to pain & suffering inflicted by noxious farts. Drydown: ok, not so bad. I survived. however this may get swapped if I don't use it for boundary pushing therapeutic purposes.

    Danube

Ok so water musks and blue musks are a known enemy in my world.. At first, I said to myself "What was I thinking?! I hate these!" However I tried a tiny dab, applied with a wince. This isn't bad. cool and swirling for sure. Smells a bit like a hardware store..? where do I get that from? anyways, still totally not me and awaiting a good home. I tried to break out of my mold however this is too bold of an attempt.

    Prague

This is MUCH sweeter than I expected. thanks for the frimp, lab! I really like this and it makes up for some of the flop & fizzles I got, in this recent order. Yes I admit I've pulled a crocus or two out of someone's front yard, from impulsive excitement for spring growth. This does have a discernible note of crocus. The lilies take a minute to come out. Nice and light!

    Pannychis

Hmm.. seems the lab likes to frimp this one. I received one too! Not bad. Another jasmine mix and slightly too jumbled for me to discern fully. I can smell currant and cardamom. Slight lily too. Not bad and sweetens on me after a while. I'll have to see but maybe a swapper. Update 3.26: apparently I blew my nose out the day I made the above review. I tried Pannychis again and loved it so much I'm now the proud owner of a bottle! hahaha

    Jazz Funeral

This is less boozy than I expected. Bit of an initial let down. After I was over pouting about it, I was ok. This review stinks a bit because there's a squirrel outside my window staring at me. What a creeper! Distracting!! hahaha anyways, it's smells like dirt and flowers more than expected. Slight cologne backing. This has that saccharine sweetness that makes me salivate a bit. I'll have to put this one aside for a while and try again.

    Ode on Melancholy

I was hoping to feel sadness but alas, this brings good memories to mind. Oh well! My old hometown has victorian housed, brick sidewalked craggy sections where wisteria grows like crazy on the homes that allowed it. This reminds me of spirited springtime strolls. Actually makes me happy. 12 years ago I owned a night lily lotus moonflower scent that was totally heart-wrenching.. sweet and sad. I keep searching for it in bpal scents. However have not yet found a match. Onward I go!

The Bow & Crown of Conquest

In imp: sage and carnation. hmm.. Wet: lavender and vanilla start to develop. Wonder if this progresses differently on guys? I like it. It does have a cologne backing to it and gives the impression of rigidity with grand sweeping gestures and large expectations. Weird! Kinda like wulric without the cuddly part. Drydown: the cologne aspect settled down, thankfully. Not much white musk and the carnation doesn't blow up in your face. Well balanced and snooty! hahaha

    Black Opal

I picked this up because people attested that it smells like Sex Bomb from Lush. TRUE! It does. First words out of my mouth were "oooh CUTE!" There is a vanilla base to this with some flirty florals mixed in. A bit musky and perfumey. Smells oddly familiar outside of the Sex Bomb association but I can't place it..

    Peitho

In imp: jasmine with a flirty back. Wet: muted jasmine with myrtle and with slight lily obscured by these 2 pals. Slight hint of clove. No bourbon vanilla.. bummer. Drydown: still the same and if I try really hard I can smell bourbon vanilla. though that's a stretch and it must be a very small amount. I need to remember that elements are listed in order of prevalence. If the ingredients were flipped around a bit then I think this would be a hit. I still like it very much though!
