    Oakmoss Accord

Wet: pine, cypress, tea rose, dark aquatic note. Not the Oakmoss I'm used to.. but very intriguing indeed. The version I aged since I was a wee 16 year old was very leathery. Drydown: mostly tea rose and a dark aquatic note with a touch of vetiver on me. Murky, sullen, contemplative, heavy, dark. It keeps getting muskier and muskier... and browner.. and deeper. Wade through the wet phase and you have a magnetic load of awesome...give it time. I'd advise any fan of the lab's Ambergris Accord SN to snag a bottle and age the hell out of this!

    As Above

I'll say this in both As Above and So Below reviews: as a set, they're very complimentary and work well worn simultaneously on the body, given their own spots. They have a wonderful glowing duality. As Above: Its so close the the original Haute Macabre! Just slightly lighter, thinner, and more floral. The oak leaf and bourbon vanilla tend to dominate on me which I TOTALLY don't mind .. The throw is amazing and the leather very well balanced. I'm learning I love any blend with White Patchouli and happy to have a couple recent releases exhibiting this wonderful earthy melder. I call this a Daytime Haute Macabre. Worth keeping and I might get a back up.

    So Below

I'll say this in both As Above and So Below reviews: as a set, they're very complimentary and work well worn simultaneously on the body, given their own spots. They have a wonderful glowing duality. So Below is warm, meaty, and glowing. Well rounded, unexpectedly refined, slightly foody, pronounced warm patchouli that doesn't take over, and glowing dark copal. The golden musk and green cardamom pod notes surprised me. I see the representation of a basal scent, but it translates as higher-end than I was envisioning when I read the notes. Overall, I'm psyched about it. Unexpectedly awesome.

    Tarantula Fascinator

My imp leaked too because of the cocoa separation but when I warmed it in my palm, it was easier to get it combined again. This could be a sleeper hit. When I popped the cap, I blurted "BOOMSLANG!" then during drydown "SNAKE CHARMER!" So, there you have it. Hoard away.

    Butterflies, Flowers and Jewels Attending

OMG MisaMisa01 completely hit the nail on the head. This is a PERFECT replica of Flowerbomb. I tried to wear Flowerbomb but got a HUGE headache and my sinuses basically exploded in the middle of a mall (uhm embarrassing). I was completely heartbroken and whimpering at the Flowerbomb ads that would occasionally cross my path. Beth, thank you for making this scent. There is perfume justice in this world after all. I could not be happier. Just placed an order for multiple bottles after my 1st testing. ETA: the next morning (yea, today), I could still smell the delicate spices and a bit of jasmine and butterfly musk on my arm. The extended drydown smells more oriental spicy. I got near the decant and could smell the full-rounded version. The vanilla orchid and jasmine sambac combination keep drawing me back in. Completely intoxicating and I was compelled to immediately apply again. Well blended. Fyi..Flowerbomb and this scent remind me of the awesome smell of a Lush shop pre-2010 (aka before they went all citrus this and citrus that with their new products . Their line was more floral, earthy and heady: Sex Bomb, Fever, and Figs & Leaves seemed to be the dominant smells, to me.)

    Magus

Wonderfully contemplative, ethereal sweet frankincense blend. I would actually compare it to Hope & Fear Set Free to a certain level. H&F is sweeter, of course, but this is just as calming and well-rounded. This goes in my incense category, not the green category.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Coulda sworn I posted on here at one point..but alas. nope. Ok so Neutral is a dead-ringer for Marc Jacobs (original) on me. Contemplating the Moon Through an Open Window took me a while to pin it, but smells remarkably like Love's Baby Soft. hey does anyone know a scent that smells like Dior Pure Poison? I don't like any other versions of Dior Poison at all..just the Pure Poison version, please and thanks!

    Paladin

I haven't reviewed this yet? Whhaat? anyways.. Paladin is awesome. Its Bow & Crown of Conquest but softer and sweeter. Bottle for sure.. Understated, but memorable. I would say it's good for all seasons and occasions. Its rare to find a sweet, soft leather scent with the capacity to seamlessly follow you from baby shower to night of debauchery.

    Dove's Heart

I received this as a frimp from my Dragon*Con fairy <3 Sweet lavender and jasmine for sure. Maybe a pinch of sugar in it too? Soft, cheery, comforting, and soothing. The drydown, I can see the soap relation but honestly this stays sweeter and cuter than any soapy clean blend I've tried. Definitely good at renewing the spirit and smoothing rough edges. I was grouchy when I woke up and this snapped me out of it.

    2013 Halloweenies!

no I hear you about the snake oil one. I think it'll be bottle-good though. There were 3 pumpkin patch scents from past years which had carnation in them: Pumpkin II '07, Pumpkin V '08, and Pumpkin III '12. the 07 and 08 were great but the 12 wasn't my cup of tea because of the black pepper. It all depends on what else is in the mix. I think the milk note will smooth out the edges on Alice ITPP. Oh and I had a spaz attack over Hope and Fear Set Free.

    2013 Halloweenies!

I'm curious about Day of Skulls because it sounds perfect and I'm wondering how I slept on that one Theme in Yellow: perfect. Been wanting a fresh pumpkin scent for a long time. The only thing I could ask for now is a roasted pumpkin and brown sugar butter scent. Haunted Houses: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm such a paranormal nerd. Please please work on me. Dark Pumpkin Mead: Need IRL. This was the one I flipped and lost my breath over. I <3 mead. Just hope the spice doesn't amp too much on me! I'm exhibiting amazing self-restraint by not ordering bottles of each pumpkin patch scent immediately. Well maybe that's just because I blew a load of money on the Peach Pit and Haute Macabre. I'm convinced Beth is out to get my wallet...every update has been total scent-kryptonite the past month! I was completely immune last year!

    Peach V

I get all stupid over this one. Srsly. When 1st applied, I started singing "I smell pretty, I smell pretty, I smell pretty and witty and gaaayyyyy!" That's terrible and all humans should feel fortunate they weren't around for that. But you get the point. Aaand unfortunately some insight into my flavor of insanity. Ok really, this is a winner and changes my mind about white tea. Its sweet, innocent and not lemony at all. Kinda like getting an "everythings gonna be ok" hug that truly changes your outlook for the better. Its peach, mind-clearing white tea, nerve settling neroli, and sweet warm honey.

    Peach III

I vote this to be the most underrated peach of the bunch. Ooooh boy. Its a roller coaster ride. The madeira wine is frikkin Halloween Las Vegas awesome for like 3 seconds, then utter chaos, then **boom** beautiful sweet rose and soft sweet peaches with an airy flutter of mimosa. Very romannnnnntic. Mmmhhhmmm! I might need another of this. Damn it I hate when I tell my gut to shut it. Gut's all "thhhbbppp. neener neener I told you soooo" right now.

    Peach II

Woot! Peach champagne with a citrus zest garnish! zippy! Not too alcoholic though. It is refreshing and amps on me like whoa. I did a slight test from the bottle lip and its straight up the nose and in the eyeballs. It's the cleanest out of the bunch, which is surprising considering the champagne feel. I think I blew my nose out already. oops. Overall, this is a great pick-me-up. Annnnddd I'm with Glambie on not breaking up the Peach Pit. They're all so different and complimentary. If I swapped this, I'd feel like something was missing/ there'd be a big whole in my collection.

    Peach I

Preface: Ok, over the past few years, I've become a total whore for anything in these3 categories: sweet, pink-smelling, or syrupy debauchery including tobacco. Peach I falls in 2 categories out of 3 (its not pink-smelling, of course. Don't want to be obtuse here.. ). I amp this for a decade. The peach sticks around (dies down after the wet phase but still notable). The tonka is actually identifiable on my skin, which happens, like, NEVER. The red musk doesn't turn metallic or decaying-mushy. Its *just enough* where I can really appreciate it. I'm usually sensitive to red musk! Overall, a sweet tobacco peach scent with a devilishly dark red musk note.

    Peach IV

Peach IV is a strange one on me. I think the notes I amp depends on what I eat/how much coffee/ etc. Yesterday: So my skin ate it. Then it came back. Then it ate it again. Then what I'm left with is the sandalwood resin smell Villainess uses in Crushed, Asphyxiate, and Jai Mahal. Slightly. Partially chewed and digested by my dermis (hey dermis, you're a dick btw). Not much peach at all. Mostly frankincense and ho wood. Today: completely different! Soft, sweet, resinous amber-y peach. Mellow, even throw. Frankincense and ho wood are completely in check. It still matches my natural skin stink a bit too well, to where it camouflages itself. Other people (mainly husband) think I smell great, but hell if I can smell it myself! Same thing happened with Sprinklecake even though they're dynamically different scents, btw! Keeping this around for the compliments.

    The Other Hot Chocolate

I just placed The Other Hot Chocolate on one wrist and Grog on the other wrist. Now tell me.. how the hell am I supposed to get anything done today? ok really.. The Other Hot Chocolate was a no-brainer bottle order. It's sweet, deep hot chocolate with those floaty dried marshmallows. Reminds me of all those awesome moments in life when I decided a cup of hot chocolate was in order to fix the day. Its that light-hearted powdered chocolate smell of Cocoa Puffs/Pebbles/hot chocolate powder mix, taken just a weeee bit into the dark side.

    Hope and Fear Set Free

In bottle: bourbon vanilla and a wee bit of smooth frankincense. Wet: Whooooom! it flipped. I knew this walking into it.. but I *amp frankincense like crazy*, so you have to take my review with a grain of gourmet salt... I can smell the bourbon vanilla somewhere in there but its mostly frankincense. Like I'm hiding a resin burner under my shirt. Though this is sweeter and less powdery/piney than actual burning frankincense. Drydown: I can see the benzoin and american cream comparisons. Slightly heady, foody, boozy sweetness and a deep deep bass note of frankincense. Ok whew. I thought I blew my nose out impatiently huffing it so frequently during wet phase. My recommendation would be- you *really* need to allow it to mellow on your skin. This sticks around for a bazillion hours and the throw is significant. ETA: I'm hoarding this. I want to smell like this for everandeverandever.

    The Other Miss Forcible

Uhm. 10 bottles, please. me and the husband are in love with this one! We need like 5 bottles each. Its sweet, musky, a little foody without being too powdery or bready, not too much spice. I'm calling it "The Other Snake Oil" instead.

    The Ghost Children

My 1st impression was "scrubbed vegetables". Something about the snuffed candle and green mix said that. As it dries down this becomes a calm, silenced scent. Description is accurate. I truly like this. Low throw. I can see the comparison to Ode on Melancholy.

    Box 116

OK so I received a decant of Box 116 a couple years ago and LOVED it. Smelled like chocolate, sugar, caramel, cherries and syrupy pineapple. However, when I searched for reviews, everything was coming up salted caramel and burnt sugar. I was reaaalllyy confused. Then finally this week I said fuck it and arranged a swap for a bottle of Box 116 thinking I'd like it regardless. Upon testing the bottle, I got the same notes! My skin turns this fruity sugary. I'd have to say there's some fruit note that's not pineapple. Pineapple disappears on me after a couple minutes. Must be syrupy marachino cherries. There's something of the burnt sugar/rum/caramel family in here too. Honestly, this is to die for. I just bought 2 bottles off bpal's etsy site because I'm seriously not fighting over 1 bottle with my choco obsessed hubby.

    Detestable Putrescence

You know I think coffee and basically any strong food consumption has a part to play in the playdoh factory factor. I retested this morning before I drank any coffee and its exactly as described by the lab and quite brilliant. The wet phase made me think "well, does vanilla ice cream really smell that good after all? I mean this is dead on but I never thought about how it actually smells..not that great!" Then a couple minutes later its all floaty soft sweet creamy vanilla. This worked out! I noticed this scent changed slightly after I drank a bit of coffee. Its quite reactive to skin chemistry/what you consume. I've never seen a scent do this so obviously!

    Aurelia

The pine and cypress take waaaayyy over on this one. Petitgrain is super blooming on this too. Its a medicinal purifying blend on me. I mean, if I had a hangover or I was sick, I would grab this immediately for a green jolt. I might have gotten a decant of a bottle that is heavier on these 3. Its a hard fight to smell the strawberries and red currant. Even during drydown, the green blend is in reverse prominence on my skin. I <3 oakmoss and never mind mint and I've learned to love green tea too, but unfortuntately they're pushed back in the shuffle.

    Tympanidium

I vote this the sleeper hit of the bunch. You either love or you hate black licorice...but this is sweet, spicy, resinous, earthy, and hard to pin down. The wet phase is distinctively licorice with orange blossom. The drydown, it becomes so much more. Kinda close to the skin, but I bet guys are going to love this. Its more unisex than anything. This is not patchouli heavy, mind you. Color impression is burgundy and speckled black with shots of amber and maroon.

    Epibulia

Wet: WHABOOM! mango cassis and currant Sweet, tropical, toothachingly awesome. Tropical starburst candy. Drydown: Still tropical starburst..which is kinda awesome and it sucks because now I have to drive to the store and hope to hell they carry tropical starburst. If you have a chance to sniff a tropical starburst, now you'll smell a hint of jasmine every time. Srsly.
