  1. I normally can't wear the "dead leaves" anything from bpal, as they are so strong and headache inducing with my skin chemistry. I try them on occasion, usually when there's leather (a fav) involved, just in case, hence my trying this one.

leaves first (no surprise there), and they hang around, but surprisingly they aren't as strong as normal. I do get some leather for a little bit, but it's short-lived and not that strong (hard to place what kind it is - maybe brown- but it was nice and not sour). The bergamot (earl gray) is lovely! Especially hours later, I get bergamot with some leaves.

All I did was put a testable bit from my decant on my wrist, and I've been able to smell it the scent for hours. I know it goes on stronger as leaves, but this Earl Gray is so perfect I'm going to do a full try on another day. I'll update this when I do.

  2. Leather is strongest in the decant. I do get the leather on my skin, which is nice, though leans a bit chemical, but I'd say most of the chemical aspect is from the ozone. The musk/fougere is the strongest note; it's hard to tell where one stops and the other begins. The leather only noticeable when I sniff closely. As a leather-note lover I'm glad I tried it, but it's not a keeper

  3. spicy, cinnamon? Ginger? Hint of banana underneath. The spice dies down and takes most of the throw with it. maybe a hint of banana left?

I barely got any banana, if at all. And I didn't get "gingerbread". It was a heavily spiced foodie spice thing. it was short-lived too, but strong while it lasted.

  4. All I did was crack the imp open. I didn't even remove the lid. POW! Cinnamon. I like cinnamon, Chimera is my favorite GC scent, and I am legitimately scared of trying this it's so strong. It's a mix of cinnamon sticks and candy cinnamon and just pure cinnamon essence.

I pull the lid out and sniff closer. Cinnamon, bandages ... old wounds? For real?

puts a tiny, tiny bit on my arm: the cinnamon remains the strongest note, like a cloud around me, and I think I'm stuck smelling like cinnamon forever now.

interestingly, if I smell my arm closely I get medical gauze.

    wild.

*update - after an hour or two the cinnamon backs off drastically and the throw drops. The gauze seems cleaner too

  5. the pear is strong with this one. But it's also canned and syrupy. (fresh pears simply don't smell the same as canned). If i sniff my wrist directly I do get honey. Like actual honey smell.

but, wow, this is a STRONG throw. Just a little on my wrist is too much

this one is for those who truly wish to smell of pear

    doomsday_disco --- well, that is a memorable review 🤣

  6. I got both the Thanksgiving special imp and the Yule, which Ted confirmed were different scents. And boy, are they ever different!

Thanksgiving Gift: in the imp -wow! really yummy pie crust (way better than the yule one and way more recognizable), some lavender with it

wet and dry on skin - lavender with cream and a touch of something plastic-y /sunscreen-y, very light and not foodie (no crust on my skin)

after an hour or so - more creamy coconut!

Yule: in the imp, pie crust and something astringent

wet on skin almost cashmere? a sense of heaviness, almost sunscreen-y or platic-y, and...coconut? Maybe, maybe the barest hint of lavender underneath

dry - definitely cashmere (warm and musky). weird. and a more noticeable occasional hint of lavender

*I'm adding thoughts on both to both threads ;)

  8. 1000% percent this is Pina Colada. maybe with a tonka grounding note. No leather to speak of

*edit. I let it sit for a few days then tried it again. Definitely still pina colada, but a nice one without too much alcohol, there's a real nice tonka "spice" to it for sure and almost a touch of candy sweetness and occasional caramel. And yet, it's not "foodie"

I really love this! (and I didn't care for the GC Perversion)

  9. In the bottle I smell....nothing?!?

on my skin....sugared incense, emphasis on the sugar.

    WHERE is my leather? *cries*

My skin definitely amps it, which is good, otherwise I wouldn't even know what it smells like. But all i get is sweet, almost tooth-achingly sweet.

*edit, ooh hey, some black musk joins in after about 30 or so minutes...dragging a whiff of leather with it. Now this smells good. Not at all what I was expecting, but good.

  10. I'm a lover of bpal's leather most of the time, especially black leather, and a goth. I was really hopeful for this...

really low throw, very "incense" at first - the blend of patch and nag champa is very nice and not too heavy, floral, or dirty.

no leather? it's such a low throw it's hard to tell. maaaaybe if I squint?

I think I"ll try this again later before passing, but I'm not hopeful :(

  11. a bright metallic scent.

and reading the other review, it could have something lemon-y, but it's not lemon cleaner.

it's a weird bright/almost-sour thing that eventually hints at more leather than lemon, but it's a sour-leather

  12. I try all the Lab's leather--including blends. Sadly, I get no leather from this.

The aftershave and balsam notes are strongest, and a little medicinal. There's also a sour (almost poopy) note which is the oud on my skin (sigh). And maybe a hint of rosewood, but if I try to sniff for it, I get a nose full of oud....

better luck to those with different skin chemistry

  13. I loved the Lab's ability to nail the maraschino cherry scent in their MC&Champagne scent, but the Champagne ended up drowning out the cherries on me. So I wanted to try again. This is DEFINITELY M. Cherry, but almost too much at first, but then the marshmallow comes out, and it becomes more of a marshmallowy toasty, almond-cherry mix lol

  14. there are two types of lavender: soothing and IN YOUR FACE

    this is the latter....

just a dab screams all day long. I mean, i like lavender, and it was ok enough to wear that dab all day, but I'm glad I didn't put more on.

I got no patch that was noticable, but knowing it should be there I may or may not have gotten tiny hints of something earthy, before the lavender squashed it again lol

  15. I am a leather fiend. I must try all blends with leather. This one is soooooo nice, and it's different since the leather really blends in with the wood. it's soft but very noticeable and makes me feel comfy. The dust&tea aren't something I can pick out necessarily but it has that kind of feel to it

and now that I read "root beer" and "plastic" in above reviews, I can smell that, BUT it's nowhere near as strong as scents that actually smell like root beer or that 90s kaboodle plastic LOL

  16. i mosly agree with doomsday_disco. Goes on very smoky BBQ-like cedar. That stays but tames a bit. I get a touch of gasoline underneath, but that fades. maybe some oil. maybe leather. It's hard to tell with all that BBQ-cedar. Good throw but doesn't last that long. I too am grateful to the person who sent me a tester, and am glad I dodged a rare bullet.

  17. BLACKBERRY!

then quickly shifting to black currant.

nothing else really, which is a shame as I was REALLY hoping for some leather...though it feels like something is underneath supporting the black currant I can't pick it out at all

that being said it's really nice. Not too fruity. Good throw. Would recommend trying.

It's not something I would reach for to wear with regularity, but I may keep my decant to dry a couple more times, more than just a wrist-test at least
