  1. So...I'm kind of on the hunt for the perfect Lunacy that will work for me. There are SO many and thus far I've tried Milk Moon '07, Long Night Moon, Blood Moon, Bony Moon, Bitter Moon. While none of them have been bad on me per se, none have wowed me. I only keep what I love so all my lunacies have been rehomed/are in the process of being rehomed. But I *LOVE* the moon (I'm a pretty Cancer-y Cancer) so I won't give up!

Scents that I love are: Tezcatlipoca, Crowley, Now Winter's Nights Enlarge, Miller v. Cali, Boomslang...so, with this said, what would people recommend?

  2. In the bottle: BOOZE! My brain thinks, 'drink this!' Wine.

Wet: Wine dries down; a bit of the smokiness comes out, which is DELIGHTFUL...but short lived. Fruits emerge big time.

Dry: Fruit. This reminds me of the fruit in Miller v. Cali. Juicy. No incense? No coffee? Hm. Throw is good for a few hours, as I can smell it as I'm doing various things (typing, cooking, etc.)

  3. Well, 'Quick or Dead' is now the smell of the day....and my wrists are bright red.I only have limes in the house but I'll keep that in mind.

I scrub with kosher salt, juuuust a bit of warm water, dish soap, and a fingernail brush. And I mean scrub. HARD. Just short of bleeding. Heh. Of course I don't recommend that anyone else scrub that hard, but... yeah. That's what I do. It seems to take 80-100% of the scent off, at least on my skin. But some oils are STRONG and will linger even after that.
Good to know; those things, I always have.

  4. Okay, WHEW. The Alchohol worked! Mostly. But I'm not getting whiffs of it anymore. *whew*

Good to know about the scrubby, though. I have some if it starts creeping up again...

edit: After a few minutes, it's still there. Off to try to mask it under some 'Quick or Dead.'

  5. Sorry if this seems blasphemous.

So, I've been trying imps for the last few days and I put one on that is just...not a winner. When I get a whiff of it, it's kind of making me queasy.

Tips for getting it off? I've tried dish soap and baking soda. I'm about to put rubbing alchohol(sp?) on it, and if that doesn't work, some Bronners.

I honestly don't think i've ever had an oil survive a nice hot shower. Any chance it got onto the clothing you're wearing of in your hair? Either of those thing will hold the scent until they're washed.

I'm wearing a tanktop. I even made chicken soup and none of those smells are counteracting it. At the moment, I can't take a shower because my toddler would probably pitch a fit.

    Alchohol...rescue me....

  7. In the Imp: Sweet, like spiced honey, but mild. Yum.

Wet: Sweet, kind of woody but very feint with something...kind of...waxy coming out of the back.

Dry: This smells like...when you open up a tube of lipstick? Just a touch sweeter. But still. It's one of the things I dislike about lipstick and it doesn't fly on my wrist.

Oi. I had high hopes for this one.

  8. I remember hearing somewhere that black pepper and pink pepper come from unrelated plants, so that might be something worth researching - if that's truly the case you might be allergic to one and not the other.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) and pink peppercorn or brazilian pepper (Schinus terebinthifolius) are from different plant families. Black pepper belongs to it's own family, the Piperaceae, and pink peppercorn belongs to the Anacardiaceae. The most prominent members of the Anacardiaceae are cashew trees, so as a matter of fact pink peppercorn is closer related to cashew nuts than to actual pepper. But the actual red or pink pepper is ripe Piper nigrum as well, the dried black pepper is harvested while it is still unripe while the preserved red pepper is ripe pepper.

Sorry for the lecture, that was just the botanist in me coming through! But I hope it helps to sort out the peppers. I think the lab can give a definite answer to what they really mean by pink pepper.

Hey, I'm always down for a lecture in botony! Sweet!

  9. So, I have a few food allergies. Nothing too serious. However, I have come across a few awesome sounding scents that have one of my issue foods: pepper.

In your experience, is it better to shun these scents? Could I maybe do a perfume but not a scrub? Eating pepper gives me hives, which would definitely detract from the enjoyment of the scents if I'm itching like a madman. I only get hives, though. No swelling, no inflamation of mucous membranes (I know, delicious).

    Thank you for your help.
