then it turns all creamy sweet purple violet goodness...

aw i wish they would release this one.....

eep! turpentiney orange.....that is straight from

the imp applied to my wrist....however, almost

immediately the turpentine sharpness goes away

and it is a nice creamy orange that lasts only

a very short time with my chemistry...

Not an imp, but I got a bottle of Dorian in my most recent order that doesn't smell at all like my imp. My imp is gorgeous spicy vanilla tea that I want to bathe in. The bottle is mostly sugared vanilla with no tea. I'm hoping that a bit of time will remedy that problem, since I miss the tea!

 

I think I'll have to do a side by side comparison of this....

i had the same thing happen to me.....i find that if you age it a few months

it turns into something absolutely breathtaking as you noted....the gorgeous

spicy vanilla tea.....your bottle just needs proper aging!!!

so many of my imps smell sooooooooo much better than the bottles and i have to say it all has to do with aging it!!!

also, saturnalia!!! this one is all violet and vetiver and

intense!! love this!!

and the halloween scents that last and last and last for

me....trick or treat, samhain 05, all saint's 05 and devil's night.......

gnome is very strong as well.......

this scent is nice but not a perfume i would want to wear........

aw.........this was not a winner for me

i got only a tad of the lovely vanilla and then the peppermint went

all kooky/crazy with my chemistry......it actually felt cool....

hehe.....off to a better home she goes.....

ADDED Dec. 15:

straight sniff from bottle is peppermint candy canes

once applied it gets very, very faint and literally disappears except for

a hint of vanilla...i would literally have to wear 1/2 the bottle in order

to even smell this on my own self...ah well...

straight sniff from the bottle this is bakery goodness......sweet, sugary with

the teensiest hint of pine

once this touches my skin the pine amps up tremendously.......

after some time it smells just like sitting in front of the fireplace at my grandma and

grampa's house at xmas time....the fresh smell of the spruce tree and a mug of hot cocoa

with some butter cookies.........total comfort scent.....just lovely

very softly incensey.....sandalwood and frankincense for sure with maybe a hint of nag champa for good

measure.....this is what you are looking for if you like head shop smells

while it is so light to start the scent comes through stronger and stronger as it sits

on my skin...quite unique and beautiful ... i think this would make a great layering

scent with some of the lab's other blends

i have a true love/hate relationship with tombstone...the vanilla in this blend

is absofuckinglootleeee to DIE for....the sassafrass is root beer smelling and that is not

a bad thing....what happens is that it becomes so sharp on my skin and amps up

into almost all cedar....while the vanilla and sassafrass never actually lose their

edge, that blasted cedar just bullies itz way to the forefront and shoves the

other 2 behind.......

so you can see while i love this initially the cedar just does not sit well with

my chemistry and nauseates me to the point of having to wash it off....dammit.....

cuz the vanilla in this is one of beth's finest creations to date....*sigh*

beautiful for a warm summer evening.......extremely well balanced fruity and light

floral goodness....nothing too overpowering with this gorgeous scent....i simply

love the fact that it is so refreshingly light yet has amazing staying power....

a knockout perfume

starts off all almondy but quickly turns to ivory soap!!

yup!! that distinctively 99.5% clean ivory soap scent.....

then a twinge of orange zest!!

this one is so very interesting.....me likey a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

hot, dry, dusty rose mixed with sharp cinnamon......meh......this

doesn't go so well with my chemistry.....the cinnamon takes precedance and

the dusty rose all but disappears after awhile......i may have to try this

one out before bedtime and see how busy i can get and/or how many

wet dreams i can have

straight up from the bottle i can smell that gorgeous plum mixed with

carnation

i never get any of the musk from this blend....

the plum in this reminds

me very much of the plumminess in snake charmer that i just adore

lasting power is so/so with my chemistry .... overall this is a very pretty scent

starts off all vanilla and almond but quickly morphs into a

warm and spicy blend....then the amber comes through....softly....

yes this is quite lovely......i am glad i was able to try an imp

of this little beauty

first sniff from bottle ..... this is a very light musky and vanilla blend.....

it really does not change much with my chemistry even after a few

hours with the exception of getting that danged play-doughy scent i loathe......

soooooooooo sad for me...

i wanted to love AL esp after it had been re-released and all....

oh well....AL went off to a home where she can be loved to eternity.....amen to that

upon application this has a slightly fruity, green leafy note to it.....

very, very nice.....after about 10 to 15 minutes something floral amps

up and gets very strong...i think this might be something i would

like to wear in the springtime....pretty

i also think this needs to age a bit to see how it will turn out....

gawd i crack me up.......

i feel totally compelled to post that sara was positively wonderful as far as

customer service goes....she answered my email within hours....no kidding.....

i have never had such wonderful CS ... i rec'd a replacement order within

2 days as well....

i am positively enamoured at the response and speediness of everything......

omg....upon application this smells XactLEE the way my grandparent's deck

of playing cards used to smell!!

yes for some odd reason, when my grandparents used to break out the cards

for their monthly penny poker game i would actually beg to take the cards from

the box just so i could whiff them......an odd woodsy/farmhouse scent.....the smell

is so exact is it frightening....

after 15 minutes or so, this scent turns into an "oil painting on barn board with a touch

of turpentine".... i know, i know.....too strange... but my mom used to paint on old

barn boards back when i was only 5 or 6....i remember it as clearly as today.....

soooooooooooooo, after all this what can i say??

this scent brings back some fantastically wonderful memories for me.....i cannot say it

is a pretty scent by any means but it certainly gave me the most wonderful dream

of my beloved gramma and grandpa .... they appeared to me much younger

than i knew either of them and they were both playing and loving my grandchildren...

we were on the most beautiful porch of a white house......everyone happy .... it certainly

was wonderful......

i think i may need a bottle of this for when i want to have some beautiful dreams of

my grandparents and my mother and how things might be when we meet

up together and finally "go home".......really amazing experience.........

deep, dark, smoky, bitter, smoldering ..... most definitely not pretty but

very fascinating to me......

after 30 minutes or so this warms up and i get a sense of something almost

winey or boozy......could this be cognac???

after even more time this warms up and melds with my chemistry to something

that may just warrant a big bottle order.......

straight up whiff from the imp this is all about thick, syrupy potent black cherries

with a touch of almond..... *droooooooooool*

once it makes contact with my skin the black cheery cherry aroma mixes with the

mahogany .... wow......

too, too unique and uber fantastic......i have a feeling some aged red queen would

be a phenomenal addition to any bpal arsenal......

this is sooooooooo taking me back to when my dad used to wear something that i recall

as "4711" (*i think*)...it was a cologne back in the early 80's........had a gold/yellow/turquoise

label....its definitely the neroli and bergamot in this blend.........

definitely a manly type scent ..... this one will be another addition to the boy's pile of

new scents.......

straight from imp this is a pure and true rose scent.....

upon application, this interestingly does not change a bit.....

pure rose through and through....with an added touch of green....just

a wee bit, mind you.......for the rose lover in you

first whiff from the imp this is all about pine but once applied a plethora of gorgeousness

is what this masterpiece is all about...turns much sweeter than anticipated with my chemistry

and i can detect the faintest notes of fig and patchouli.....this is an outstandingly long lasting

beauty for me as well......what can i say ???
