    Leaf-Strewn Couch

I don't know why I don't learn from my mistakes, I bought a whole bottle of Gilman House Hotel back in the day and it just got worse and worse everytime I wore it. Now, here I go with another 'musty' oil. At least this time I just got a half-decant In the imp - not bad. It's got that musty furniture scent I liked about Gilman House Hotel but without the Hotel's paint thinner that made my toes curl after a while. On wet - I can really smell the leaves. I already know this won't be a wearable perfume, but I love how this smells exactly like leaves! Drydown - stays very close to the skin. Old fabric and leaves, but pleasantly so. Like sitting in an attic with lots of antiques around you, with the windows open on a warm autumn day.

    Tavern of Hell

I'm not sure why I'm trying this. There's enough florals here to send me running for the hills, usual, but I am intrigued by the fougere, the coriander, the ebony wood and the booze. Let's see. In the imp - sweet, resinous booze. On wet - wow, intense! Wood, whiskey, coriander, ylang ylang. Very few florals. I hope it stays this way. Drydown - Oh no. It just turned into a world of 'meh'. Everything I liked - the booze, the spices, the wood - have up and left, leaving only flowers and a faint whiff of alcohol. Not my thing. I wish it could stay wet forever.

    Santa Muerte

I was frimped this I'm not sure what to expect. I love vetiver but I'm not one for florals, and there's an awful lot of flowers here - we'll see. In the imp - rose and vetiver. Reminds me an awful lot of Bend Over from the Twilight Alchemy Lab, which I like. On wet - oh yeah, that's Bend Over. Maybe a slightly milder version, but essentially the same to my nose. Drydown - a milder, lighter version of Bend Over - dark roses and vetiver, a stunning combination each time. Very pretty. I like it a lot.

    House of Night

A sorrowful graveyard bouquet of somber blooms, funereal boughs, dismal green and laden with grief. Frimp from a forumite In the imp - sweet floral. I don't know about this. On wet - sweet flowers and greenery. Drydown - Massive, massive florals. Nope. Not working for me. If you like green, aquatic florals, you will love this - needless to say they're not for me.

    How Doth the Little Crocodile

I got a sniffie of this - always wanted to try it but wasn't sure if this would work on me at all. Thankfully there's just enough in here for a wee skin test In the imp - mint, pistachio and wood. On wet - pistachio, vanilla and just a hint of mint. Very light. Drydown - even lighter, but a frankly delicious, creamy, vanilla-accented pistachio with just a brush of foody mint. There's also a dusting of dry chocolate that's very yummy. One of the few foody scents that don't give me a headache, very good.

    Umbra

I'm a big fan of patchouli and vetiver, so I have no idea why I haven't tried this before, but somebody frimped this to me so here I go In the imp, it reminds me a lot of Azathoth, lots of patchouli, lots of cedarwood, lots of vetiver. On wet, more of the same. As it dries down it becomes really rich and warm, there's thankfully not TOO much cinnamon, just a musky, deep patchouli, vetiver and cedarwood mixture. I really like this and am quite glad I was frimped it

    The White Rider

I really liked the Black Rider and so now I've decided to make my way through all three riders In the imp - Leather! And how! On wet - Sharp leather and hints of sandalwood. Drydown - this takes on a hint of masculine cologne as it dries. The leather remains strong and the sandalwood makes this a smooth, elegant scent. Wonderful

    Vampire Tears

This was a frimp from someone In the imp - wisteria, grapefruit, green tea, a hint of tonka. On wet -Grapefruit, tea and ginger. Drydown - Jasmine steps in, rounding out the grapefruit and the tea. The ginger remains reserved. A pretty scent, just not for me.

    Highwayman

Was frimped this, always wanted to try it on account of loving cinnamon and vetiver! Let's hope the florals and cinnamon don't get too much in the way . . . In the imp - vetiver. And how. Oh dear me, I love this already. On wet - vetiver, vetiver, and more vetiver. I am loving this. Drydown - Vetiver amped into the heavens, and I love it. It reminds me a lot of my favourite vetiver/leather scent, Iago. Highwayman's leather is a little too faint for my tastes so I'll mostly still stick to Iago, but as far as straight-up vetiver goes, this is amazing.

    Dorian

I've been contemplating getting an imp of Dorian for a while because I was intrigued by the tea and musk notes, but have had a lot of instances of widely loved oils not working on me at all. I was still in the middle of making up my mind when somebody frimped me Dorian out of the blue. I love it when that happens In the imp - musk and sweet tea, delicious! On wet - Tea and a hint of lemon. Drydown - lightest vanilla, tea and musk. Very delicate and beautiful but still surprisingly masculine. I'm keeping some more of this to test against Theodosius when my partial of that arrives. I'm pleasantly surprised, very, very delightful.

    Brotoloigos

I was quite intrigued by the Tobacco, wenge and myrrh part of the equation. Let's see where this goes. In the imp - deep rose geranium, bridled by wood and myrrh. On wet - Interesting! Light tobacco, geranium and wood. Lighter than I thought it'd be. Drydown - slightly more rose geranium, but myrrh and wood in particular remain strong. I wish the tobacco was more distinct in this, as it stands, I'm keeping the decant but I don't need a bottle of this.

    The Chapel 2008

I've been dying to sample this, and thanks to sirensea I finally can In the imp - wine. Deep, rich, wine. Not much else. On wet - Vetiver! Oh, there's my beloved vetiver. Vetiver, resins and a bit of blood. I'm loving this so far. Let's see what happens. Drydown - lighter now, and fruitier, resins and wine. Barely any vetiver to speak of. Shame! I was hoping this would last. Will keep the decant, but am glad I didn't order a bottle.

    Wrath

I'm a bit worried by this one. My skin doesn't like cinnamon, but I do like all the other notes - besides, it was a frimp, and I make it a point to try all the oils I get In the imp - surprisingly mild. Dragon's blood and light clove. I am beginning to feel optimistic. On wet - Oh, that's not bad at all! Mild cinnamon and dragon's blood. Let's see how it dries. Drydown - Dragon's blood, light cinnamon. I expected this to be much fiercer and deeper. Nice, though not a favourite.

    Faunalia

A freebie from a forum member In the imp - oh wow! Musky, deep goodness! On wet - musk and a sweet foresty scent, like a deeper Robin Goodfellow. This lightens as it dries. Quite masculine, and with a note of root beer others have mentioned. Smells an awful lot better wet than it does now. I'll just stick to Puck.

    Inganok Jewelers

Hooray, here are my Lupercalia decants! Even in the bottle, this smells promising. Stone, incense. Slight hint of metal. Very deep. Patchouli? On wet - oh god, this is beautiful. It smells like a less woody version of one of my favourite GCs, Fenris Wolf. Dusty stone, patchouli, musk, a hint of metal. Gorgeous. I'm in love already. On dry - possibly not worth the bottle purchase because this stays so close to the skin. I don't need my perfumes to have a mile worth of throw, but this is a bit disappointing. When I press my nose to the skin it smells great, but one inch away and there's nothing, even though I slathered. Woe.

    The Steeple

In the bottle - fresh, herbal, green. On wet - I smell the woods and the herbs most of all. A very natural, beautiful green scent, lighter than I expected. Drydown - here comes the fungus! Which is nice, because I like that note. It goes very well with the herbs, and almost makes this smell like cooking vegetables, but not in the weird way but in the pleasant way. Like I'm cooking a mushroom stir-fry with Gordon Ramsay . . . in the woods. Interesting smell. Maybe not bottleworthy, but still a keeper.

    Saint Foutin de Varailles

In the imp - faint frankincense and wax. On wet - beeswax, incense, and the rose. Drydown - Mmmh. Beautiful. I will need to take this for a full test run. I might get a bottle. Faintest rose, frankincense, beeswax, but no wine - or maybe it's so subtle I don't notice it right now.

    Luperci

In the bottle, this smells faint. I can smell the patchouli and beeswax, maybe a bit of honey, but that's it. On wet - Very pleasant, can smell the balsam and the juniper now. Drydown - balsam, musk, juniper, patchouli, with just a hint of honey. Stays very close to the skin. I like it, but I don't love it.

    The Zadok Allen Vineyard

This is the first proper wine oil I've ever tried, but I thought this might be the time what with this being a Lovecraft-inspired oil and I'm a fan. I don't drink wine personally and wouldn't have gone for a straight wine oil, but all the other notes sounded really interesting. In the imp - wine. And how! Smells just like a whiff of a strong, juicy red wine. On wet - poof goes the wine. It's gone. Not a trace left. Just a slight cherry note. Funny. Drydown - gorgeously blended. Coffee, a hint of blood, incense, and plum. I didn't think the scent would actually take me through all the notes listed but they're all distinct and beautiful.

    Enkhespalos

I expected this to be a lighter version of Mr. Hyde, which I love, but this is actually pleasantly strong in the bottle. Leather, tobacco and cognac come out after just the first whiff. Wow! On wet - whoa. Masculine, and how! Deep tobacco and leather, with just a tad of cognac. I'm impressed. Drydown - very nice! Very bloke-ish, I recommend this to any guy. A perfect blend of the four ingredients. I really like it. Will keep the decant, but still prefer Mr. Hyde, which is a bit nastier - and I like nasty

    Malediction

This contains two of my hands down favourite notes of all time, so I had to try Even the oil itself looks evil, thick, dark, reddish-brown and darker than any BPAL oil I've tried so far. I like it In the imp - light, sweet vetiver. On wet - exactly what it says on the label, a beautiful blend of earthy patchouli and vetiver. Drydown - mmfh, deliciously and beautifully blended. One of the most outstanding vetiver blends the lab has. If you're a vetiver fan, do try

    Robin Goodfellow

This is honestly the first time I've had my BPAL decisions influenced by a dream - I had a dream a while ago that I was Puck, and thought it ample time to try this blend, as I love musk, moss, sage and wood notes. I'm not sure about the heather, but it might not be overpowering. In the imp - a pleasant, sweet herbal flavour, far sweeter than I anticipated. On wet - heather, moss and sage, still quite sweet. Drydown - slightly muskier now, still the moss and sage with a hint of heather. I'm really surprised this turns dark on quite a few people, because it doesn't on me at all. It's one of the lightest scents I've tried. It stays very t stays extremely close to the skin and is quite pleasant - which was actually slightly disappointing to me because I like my scents dark and slightly scary ETA: Upon testing it again it was slightly earthier but still light. The musk is coming out quite well, and this scent is really growing on me.

    Nanshe

I've honestly never tried any of the Somnium oils and never thought to, but a forumite frimped me this I received it this morning so I'll edit this review regarding whether or not it really does aid dreams once I've had the opportunity to test run this properly In the imp - straight-up lemon with a hint of ginger. On wet - the same, but a more complex mixture of the two. Drydown - a sweet lemon/ginger candy smell. Probably quite pleasant to fall asleep to, but nothing to wear as a fragrance. I'm quite curious about its practical application though - we'll see about that tonight

    Hellfire

This was a blind bottle purchase, which is why, right now, I'm really nervous. I'm always nervous about blind bottle purchases. So far, the vast majority of them have worked wonders, and all these notes are sheer win as far as I'm concerned, but still . . . In the bottle - is there a hint of whiskey in this? There must be. There's something boozy. Not that I mind On wet - ohh, nice. Leather, tobacco, incense. Slightly sweeter than I thought it'd be. Let's see how it goes. Drydown - a deeper version of the previous three notes, plus musk. Amazing. I'm giving this the full-on test today Not regretting this bottle at all, no sir.

    Phoenix Steamworks

Continuing my excursions in the Steamworks line In the imp - pale yellow oil, metallic and resinous, but a lot lighter than I expected. On wet - Golden, balsamic notes, sage, and metallics. Drydown - the metallics stand out, as does the sage. Slight resins still. A very pretty and unassuming oil. Not the best I've ever tried, but I'm keeping the imp It reminds me a lot of Cathedral, which I like a lot.
