    The King of Hearts

Was frimped this The cherry and rose sound worrying but I do so love rosewood and musk. In the imp - Cherry. And how! On wet - Cherry candy! With a very, very faint zing of lavender. Drydown - Cherry goes away a littlebit and yields to lots and lots of rose, a littlebit of musk and continuing lavender. Definitely not my fragrance but very interesting as far as rose scents are concerned.

    Les Bijoux

Was frimped this from another forum member Everything except the rose and orange blossom sounds good. We'll see. In the imp - strong frankincense, myrrh and fruit, with a smidgeon of honey. On wet - fainter than you'd think! Musk, honey, rose (but then my skin amps rose like crazy), peach and faint incense. Drydown - The rose goes a way a littlebit, thankfully. Honey, musk and peach are now predominant. I can't smell the incense but I guess it helps to calm the peach down. Nice, but nothing I'd wear.

    Les Anges Déchus

I bought this almost entirely based on the painting, and the leather & khus (vetiver) notes. I hope I didn't make the mistake of my life there In the bottle: mmh. Ambrette and leather. Not a bad start On wet: More ambrette and fresh, sharp leather. orris, tobacco and moss is also there, but I'm not getting a lot of the khus, sadly Drydown: currant and tobacco come through, leather still present, moss sweetens everything - this isn't a blend I would've normally tried based on the description, but this is exactly the kind of sweet leathery fragrance that I never knew I needed but I now really really adore. Amazing Thank you Lab

I've been meaning to try this for a bit because I love the Lab's leather and tonka notes In the imp - sheer leather and incense. Light but beautiful. On wet - a lot of rosewood and tonka - not that much leather yet. Distant woods too. Drydown - much lighter than I expected. Very faint parchment, leather and incense, with a hint of tonka and rosewood. Barely any throw. Beautiful, but I had expected a stronger blend based on everyone's reviews.

    Macbeth and the Witches

I've been meaning to try this ever since I first discovered the Salon but never had the courage to buy a bottle without testing. Now I could finally afford to In the bottle: ozone - god, I love the Lab's ozone note - steel, and something faintly sweet. On wet: Oh wow! Oh boy, this is freaking brilliant. Herbs, ozone and metal, very fresh and rainy and brisk. I like this a lot! Drydown - this merges into a gorgeous, herbal, wet, ozoney, slightly leathery, cool blend. Definitely one of my favourite ozone blends from hereon forth and even better than I expected it to be

    Kurukulla

Uh, yeah, florals upon florals and rose to boot . . . I don't see this working very well for me. But I'm making it a point to try all frimps I'm given just to educate my nose In the imp - surprisingly light for something with so much rose - distant florals. On wet - very sweet and delicate, must be the lotus. I'm pleasantly surprised even if I won't be wearing this. Drydown - nope, nevermind, here comes the rose. Very sweet, very floral. A bit too much of everything. As anticipated, not my kind of blend, but I am beginning to appreciate the Lab's lotus note.

    Saint-Germain

Frimp from the Lab - amber and moss sounds good, but eep, carnation and lavender? Let's see. In the imp - lavender and carnation and nothing else. On wet - Oh god, lavender lavender lavender. It smells like room freshener Drydown - it goes a bit sweeter now but still mostly room freshener. Not for me. Maybe it's just my skin chemistry though . . .

    Depraved

Frimp from the Lab I love patchouli and apricot but I don't know how this will work. Let's have a look. In the imp - mostly patchouli. On wet - the apricot appears. This is tangy, earthy, simple yet cool. Drydown - this is just marvelously blended! Previously I'd only gotten the Lab's apricot note in March Hare, which I also liked but where the clove gave it too much of a spicy punch. Here, it blends beautifully with the patchouli and leaves a fun, dirty, amazing fragrance. This imp is a keeper for sure

    Forbidden Fruit

Frimp from the Lab - don't think this will necessarily work, florals are no good for me, and neither is citrus, but I do like amber. Let's see. In the imp - cherry and citrus. Weird. On wet - much of the same, it smells like cherry candy. Weird. Drydown - citrus comes out a little more, otherwise, just lotus. A very pretty light, floral scent with just that zing of citrus that keeps it from being cloying. Not for me, but a must-try for floral lovers

    Blood Amber

Frimp from the lab, and it was on my wishlist too Thank you Lab ninjas! In the imp - just like it says on the tin - dragon's blood and amber. Very nice! On wet - mostly dragon's blood, but some of the powderyness of the amber is there too. Very soft and warm and beautiful. Drydown - a gorgeous blend of dragon's blood and amber. I love this oil <3 This imp is a definite keeper. Soft and warm and utterly comforting. Beautiful! Thank you Lab

And There Was A Great Cry In Egypt

I've finally decided to explore the Salon properly - for some reason it always intimidated me before. But how can anyone say no to ingredients like that? In the bottle - mmh. Myrrh and amber and honey and musk and frankincense! Fanastic. It already smells biblical. On wet - Whoa, this is gorgeous. More myrrh, musk, honey and frankincense. Cardamon too! I adore cardamon as a note, it's not in enough blends Very distant, lovely saffron. I am loving this. Drydown - I have no words for how awesome this is. incense, honey, my beloved red musk and cardamon. Pure love. I am speechless but overwhelmed ETA: . . . except it ruins everything further on. I loved this so much but then it turns totally perfumey once about half an hour has passed. Woe

    Mr. Ibis

This oil has been intriguing me ever since I first read the description, but I never had the courage nor resources to buy bottles unsniffed till now I'm hugely excited about this! In the bottle - so. Very. Beautiful! Yes, there's parchment, yes, there's musk and sandalwood, but it's so light and delicate without being girly. On wet - For heaven's sake why did I not try this before seriously now, faint vanilla, musk and papyrus. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Drydown - more musk, and the aloe comes through. A light, airy, dusty, fresh scent, perfectly well-behaved and beautiful. Love it! This is going on my top ten

    Water of Notre Dame

I always have a hard time finding inner calm and peace of mind, and since the Conjure Bag has not failed me yet, I thought I'd try this and see if it helps In the imp - sweet, floral, clear and light. On wet - Floral and aquatic, but the scent is not overwhelming but rather calm and soothing. Beautiful! Drydown - blessedly serene and calm. Watery without being department store aquatic, floral without being cloying. Pure tranquility. I will reach for this the next time I'm having half a heart attack over something or the other and I'm sure this will do its job

    The Jersey Devil

Now this is a scent I've been meaning to try almost as long as I've been into BPAL, and I have no idea why I only bought an imp now! I love pine, I love cedar and I lovelovelooooove the smell of tomato leaf. Will Jersey Devil deliver? We'll just have to see In the imp - cedar and pine and lots of it! On wet - omg this smells awesome. Mostly pine, mild cedar, with cranberry adding a fruity but still very bitter kick. Yes, please keep going! Drydown - oh I love this so much. Woodsy and sweet and tasty and dry and gorgeous! Reminds me of Loup Garou, which I also like. This is a bottle. Oh man, is this ever a bottle. It's going on my next order!

    Fallen

Yeah, I'm just going through the Sin & Salvation catalogue here. I just love this line so much <3 In the imp - florals, vetiver, woods. On wet - a bit too floral, but that's only right on the skin, they might still tone down in a few minutes. Musk, amber, vetiver too. Drydown - Aha! I knew it. Now it's beginning to behave properly. A few leftover florals but nothing too strong. Amber, musk, sandalwood, some distant woods as well. Very nice.

    Anubis

I was really drawn to the myrrh and balsam and the promise of herbs I just had to try an imp! Storax, apparently, is sweetgum, which I had to wikipedia. I have no idea what precisley the list of embalming herbs includes. In the imp - yep, myrrh, balsam, and something distantly sweet. On wet - Oh hello, sweetgum, I see you've made yourself at home. Yep, this one starts off very sweet, sweeter than I thought it would. I was hoping for something deep, resinous and herbal and instead it smells like incense and chewing gum It's not entirely unpleasant, though. Drydown - hmm. I mean, it's very nice - the imp is definitely a keeper - but it's definitely not what I had in mind when I imagined it, I thought it would be more resinous and green somehow. As it stands, it's a very sweet herbal scent, tasty without being foody, like molasses plus incense.

    Seraphim

I was going to just use this for focusing prayers and anointing, but I must know what it smells like, especially since I love sandalwood and frankincense. In the imp - lightest rose and distant flowers, with a dusting of sandalwood. On wet - This is exactly the kind of floral I adore, even if I'm not big on florals myself - light, serene, toned down by resins and just . . . it even smells sacred and elevated. The rose behaves beautifully. Drydown - sanctified, beautiful, divine! Rose, lily and gorgeous resins. Utterly wonderful. Beth, you are a marvel

    The Zieba Tree

So far all the Rappaccini oils I've tried have been frimps, and this is no exception - I'm not a really planty kind of guy, I guess I like the promises of resins and davana, but lemon and orange blossom does not sound good (orange blossom especially is a death note for me), and the peach could go either way. In the imp - barely there, I can only smell very, very faint fruit and incense. On wet - still barely there. This is so very light! This'll be nice for after the shower when I don't want to wear something intense. Drydown - unbelievably faint, just a wee wiff of sandalwood and citrus blossom. I can't get over how light this is. Am keeping it for post-shower pampering.

    Grandmother of Ghosts

A frimp from the Lab! I don't expect much here because of the florals and mandarin, which rarely work for me, but the laurel, musk and pepper are intriguing. In the imp - sweet woods and pepper. On wet - No, here come the florals . . . not necessarily a frustrating amount of florals, but they're there. Pepper give them a bit of a punch. Lily is most prominent. Drydown - Laurel and woods come out during drydown. Smells like a wild herb garden set with flowers now. Really nice, but not necessarily my kind of thing.

    All Night Long

Frimp from the Lab! Haven't really got anybody to try the magical aspects of this blend out with but hey, it's worth a sniff. In the imp - light and spicy, like chai tea. On wet - Oh hello cinnamon, I see my skin is amping you again like a bloody maniac. Drydown - yep, nothing but chai tea. Very tasty, might very well fulfill its purpose in bed, but since I associate chai tea with quiet winter evenings at home, it doesn't so much send fire to the loins as it makes me want to snuggle up with a nice book or in front of the TV. Well, maybe it keeps me up all night reading or watching DVDs? That's my usual kind of excitement, anyway

    Roadhouse

Frimp from the Lab that was actually on my wishlist anyway I'm especially hoping for a lot of dandelion, I love dandelions. In the imp - booze, tobacco, dandelions and hemp. On wet - Blergh! Not great so far. I mean, it does capture the essence of roadhouse very well but something in there, possible the hemp, is not doing great things to my stomach. Let's leave it alone to dry for a bit Drydown - there's just something really stomach-turning about this for me, maybe it's just my skin chemistry - but this almost smells like rotten leaves. No dandelions, no hops, just not particularly sexy booze, hemp, and rotten leaves. Woe.

    Chuparosa

Frimp from the Lab! Sadly I have no romantic interest, either standing or potential, to use this on, but I'll try it anyway, maybe pass it onto my mother, who of course has dad and loves florals and hummingbirds. In the imp - a heady bouquet of fresh summer flowers. Very pretty! On wet - Holy flowers, Batman! Oh yes, there's more where that came from. Flowers upon flowers! This is amazingly intense. Not necessarily for me, but this is one of those great punch-you-in-the-face-with-scent oils Drydown - this just keeps going. Lots of rose, lots of florals I can't quite idenitfy (I'm awful with idenitfying floral smells, so sorry). Nice, but passing it on.

    All In The Golden Afternoon

A frimp from the Lab I can honestly say otherwise I would've never thought to try this. A truly strange list of ingredients, but who knows? In the imp - pineapple, tangerine, tobacco. Very fresh but not as foody as I thought it would be. On wet - I can't believe I'm writing this, but this is actually really nice! Fresh and golden but still not overly fruity and sweet. Looks like a good summer scent so far. The seltzer in particular is absolutely inspired Drydown - OMG. This is so amazing! Never in a million years could I have anticipated this. So far absolutely every single Mad Tea Party scent has turned its back on me but this is beautiful. A beautiful mishmash of the pineapple, tangerine and apricot - I usually don't even like fruit scents! - with perfect amber and tobacco, I can't smell that much of the flowers, thank goodness - a perfect summertime scent. This one is a keeper. Thank you Lab!

    Bewitched

A frimp from the Lab! Which makes me happy because this was on my wishlist, I love it when the Lab frimps me items either from my wishlist or from my favourites (who doesn't?). Although berries don't always work for me, the less sweet, wilder berries like blackberry and raspberry do, so that's what I'm hoping for here. Plus, I love sage, musk and green tea, so I think we're off to a good start. In the imp - positively delightful! Wild woodland, sage, musk and a faint whiff of berries. On wet - much sweeter now, definite berries, only mild sage and beautiful green tea. I think this is already becoming a favourite. Drydown - this stays very close to the skin, it's barely there. I usually prefer oils with a bit more throw but this scent is so pleasant - wildberry musky, with that hint of sage, and a littlebit of tea - that I'm going to keep it for occasions when I want an oil with slightly less throw than usual

    Baghdad

Frimp from the Lab, another one from my wishlist. Thank you, Labbies! In the imp - lighter than I thought it would be; faint mandarin and nutmeg, and pleasant saffron and amber. On wet - oh, lovely This scent practically shimmers. Saffron, amber, mandarin, and just a hint of nutmeg. So pretty! Drydown - very light and pleasant. This is a great summer scent! Saffron, bergamot, mandarin and nutmeg are the prominent notes for me, though I also detect a slight hint of musk. I really like it and am very grateful from the frimp
