  1. 9/21/10 Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? NO. THE MEMORIES. THE HORROR. When I was in sixth grade we went to a garlic festival at an otherwise lovely dining establishment. Everything was over-garlicky, but my sister and I are all, "Well, at least there is dessert and that will be nom and not garlic." Vanilla ice cream with garlic honey sauce. First of all, it's the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. Second of all, I'm kind of scarred for life when it comes to "garlic" and "unusual". Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies? Generally, they are hilarious. I loved Zombieland after the first 15 minutes of too violent/gross for me. I'm such a girl that way. However the things like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? I ADORE them in concept. In execution, the author is so pitifully below Jane Austen's writing style and level that I can't actually stand to read them. 9/20/10 If you happened to be my Witchee, is there something you'd like from the Arcana Halloween update? I know you aren't asking me this, so I just take the chance to say <3 you! How many bottles of BPAL do you have? Really? Really? Crap. 61. Many of which were acquired as (low level) partials and one of which makes me so sad, I actually don't like looking at it anymore (ask me about the FULL bottle of Snow Glass Apples that I spilled everywhere five seconds after getting it) About 20 of them probably need to be sold or swapped off at this point. I just am so lazy in that respect. (Getting the page up, that is, I'm actually good about mailing stuff once someone wants it.) Oh, and two of them are marked for other people (a birthday gift and a nacho witch that I am getting final components for this weekend). Is there any exercise program that you're interesting in learning? Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Zumba ect? Or if you do any of these (or anything else sport related) are there any things you need/want? Candles, music, mats, water bottles ect? Anyone else into Emily Autumn? I belly dance. And I would love items related -- from music to costume-y bits to whatever else. What's on your walls? Please show us up to three paintings/posters/whatever. If you love a painting so much that you would steal (to watch it with your greedy eyes) one, please share. do you like Girl Scout cookies? What kind? I do, but would really rather not get them. I hoard them because I don't want to eat them all at once and then they never get eaten. What's your take on homemade apple butter? Want some? I love it, but my fiance makes it like it is going out of style. Pumpkin butter, on the other hand... 9/19/10 Do you read/like fantasy? What kind of books or authors do you love? Which one would you like to read? Would you like gifts related to it? I do! I like urban fantasy. I think I've waxed on about it already though, so I won't do so again. Soaps : do you like them? What brands? What scents? Anything you're dying to try? I think you've got me covered there I wondered if my witch or any witch would enjoy things like nice pens to draw with or anything similar? I like nice pens. Not for drawing, but for writing. For those who are yarnies, would you like other-than-yarn witchery? Hooks, needles? Preference of material? Do you use/would you like handmade stitch markers, etc.? Pretty needles, wool to spin, cute stitch markets, all these things would be lovely Does anyone do altered books? Would you be interested in old books to alter? Any type or title in particular? I don't make altered books, but good lord, if you do that would be awesome. Having said that, I'm not sure what it actually is. I'm just quite certain it would be awesome. Did someone ask about incense yet? Would you like some? Something to store or burn it in? What scents? What form? I have no way to burn it, but would love some incense and/or a burner. Any oddball free things you collect or would want saved for you? 9/18/10 Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? YES! Hair combs with the long bits especially. I used to have an Oberon Designs haircomb that I LOVED, but it is lost to the sands of time now. I also like hair sticks, barrettes, I have really long hair -- I'll take about anything aimed at taming it. Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? No kids. No problems. In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? Okay, seriously, a hooded shawl. But if not that, then gloves are divine. Especially if you leave the fingers off. I have a smart phone, so I like to muck about with it even in winter. How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories? Have fun with me! Is there anything you want from the Violette Market update? What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...) I like them all. What I don't like is being overly warm. While I might enjoy various climates, I want to be comfortable in them. I'm overly warm to begin with, so this is kind of an issue. What do you wish you could make/craft if you had the know-how and supplies? Specifically, which particular items? I'm pretty much a "you want it, you try it" gal. Is there anything you would like from Conjure Oils general catalogue or the new updates that isn't already on your wishlist? You should know this by now Am I alone in this, or is there a Book Fair/Comic Con scent you're dying to get your paws on, too? No (well, yes, but I believe I have a pickup in the works for it). Anyone need address/phone type books? No

    Switch Witch Help F2010!

OMFG: UPDATE. I saved enough GCs and change and I got that camera I was babbling on and on and on about! I'm so, so, so excited! What web comics do you enjoy? Something Positive, Punch an Pie, Queen of Wands (I miss it!), Girls with Slingshots, XKCD, and I feel like there are a few more I check when I remember to, but can't think of now. My witch, I think you can tell that I answer these bottom up, because I got a bit more interesting as I went this time. 9/17/10 Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd’s that you’ve been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Nope Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? Does it work? If it works, I don't mind. If it doesn't work, um, my witch has a strange sense of humor. I really don't want the theme to be "hilariously sending you lots of broken things to see what happens". Just sayin' Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? Nope. Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?) Sure, if my witch wants to make one. I wouldn't want one enough that it is worth tracking someone else down to make one, but would totally appreciate one from my witch. I think a custom altered item like that is special between maker and receiver. Not the same if it's not my witch. Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses? Never tried them, but probably not. Anne Taintor, anyone? Who? 9/16/10 If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? Wide and long, please! Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste? A rectangular shawl... with a hood! How do you feel about recipes? I WANT TO HAVE THEIR BABIES. I also am particularly fond of Cook's Illustrated. What kind of a cook/baker are you? The stressed kind. I stress-bake. But also! I just like cooking. I'm a cooker though, I read bunches of recipes then intuit the best plan of attack. Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program? Food Network will be asking my fiance and I to host. He will be temperamental and perfectionist. I will be sweet, but want to take shortcuts. OUR FOOD WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. (I'm in a weird, allergy attacked mood. Maybe I can blame the caps on drugs.) If I send you something home made would you like the reciepe for it? YES. If you are someone who doesn't want baked goods sent, would you like a collection of some of my favorite recipes? YES. How about home made mixes or kits? Kind of like the cookie in a jar thing, where you would need to add the perishable ingredients? Lovely! But send the recipe too, please. if you are a tea lover, what are your flavor preferences? Green? Black? Herbal (I know, technically those are NOT teas, but tisanes)? Flavored blacks/greens? Black or green. Not white. Not red. Not herbal. 9/15/10 How do you feek about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? So... here's the thing. I love knick-knacks. I really, really do. But I'm moving in a year. And I hate moving. I'm a ruthless thrower-outer because I just... hate packing things. So while I like cute things, and totally collect lots of them, if you see something perfect send away... Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? I second the Hunger Games, actually. Or fifth it or whatever. Otherwise, the Kindle has been the WORST enabler EVER in this area. Do not get one unless you want to accidentally spend all your money ever on books. "Oh, I wonder if this has a sequel? Oh, I'll just get them all... I mean, I'm going to do it eventually anyway..." Gah! Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them? No, sorry. Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Of course! If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? CRAFT. CRAFT. CRAFT. CRAFT. CRAFT. CRAFT. Or you could buy it, but my lists are really mostly a guideline of things I like, I fully welcome your crafting skills. OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? Knee please! How do people feel about word magnets. I have waaaaay too many. If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? Holy crapoli, SO MANY. To make it easier, I'll just take all of Inara's clothing. How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. That's cool to things that aren't perfume, but I really do my best to limit my perfume addiction to BPAL. Though certain enablers make that harder and harder. What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items? I might test some things next weekend then figure it out. Nothing look a-maz-ing to me. It made me sad. Chocolate or other types of candy? Chocolate forever! For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Loose leaf If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? Oh god, a shawl with a hood? I'd love you forever. I tried one on this summer and only the price tag ($300) kept me from keeping it forever. Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? My kitchen is really fully stocked. Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? Herbs usually. Thyme, we use a lot of thyme and rosemary. I like ivy around the house, lavender in the garden, and daisies. I love daisies. Oh and this one time, Daniel got me some purple, almost black calla lily type things. So beautiful. More 9-13: Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch? I love contact. Contact me as much as you like. Wanna be a ninja? That's cool too. Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried? No, but the stuff on my WL is all the GC stuff I haven't tried that doesn't have a note of doom. Even if it didn't really sound super yums. Do you like maple sugar candy? Not really. What is your position on the chocolate & bacon flavor combination? No. Just no. If you are a tea-drinker do you need a tea-cozie for your pot? I am, but I have them. My mommy made them. Go to your spice cabinet, what are the three most used spices? Salt, pepper & cinnamon most likely. Microsoft or Apple? Yes, both. Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? My fiance and I went to Madison, WI because we didn't know anyone there. I liked driving in the car with him. And being alone with him -- we both live with housemates and I'm at school while he works, so we're 800 miles apart most of the time. Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? Yes! I send them at times. For a while all my card swap cards were handmade postcards, but then I quit thinking I was finally moving up in the world to some nice, nice postcards only to find out that people actually liked the homemade ones. Do you hate any food things with a passion?? Coriander. But I like cilantro. Weird, yeah? Also not hot on... I can't think. I'll try to come back to this later. Fake fruit flavors. Don't like those. Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? I love trees. I still want physical magazines. I like flipping through them, tossing 'em in a thing and going, and also I like cutting things out of them (see: homemade postcards) 9/13/10 what interests you from the latest lab update? This is actually really horrible -- I got imps of everything I was into and none of it worked for me. I had such, such high hopes for Lamb's Wool and nothin'. How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? Pens! I love pens! I like classic stuff. I also like nice paper. Pens and paper. Would you like homemade preserves (e.g. marinated vegies, pickled onions, chilli jam?) Uh, yeah. Of course. If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay? Love 'em. Would you like something you have to make yourself? Wouldn't hate it, that's for sure. I like kits. With instructions. Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? You should totally make it! It means more that way. I mean, buying is awesome, but making adds that little something extra. Who is your favorite soap etailer? Savor, but I'm interested in Tarty's soaps. What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? I collect tea cups with saucers. I'm sure I've mentioned it. I'm sure I have. Tea cups. But other vintage decoration items would be intriguing as well. With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? Build up. Or a bang. You know, I'd be super pleased with either. What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet? I pretty much don't. I mean, sometimes, for special occasions. Who would be on your top 5 (IE famous people you’d date/have relations with ) Really? This again? 9/12/10 Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to last.fm immediately and create an account! Download the scrobbler! Link us to your account! If you reject this assignment, maybe just tell us what your mp3 player says you listen to a lot? No.... let me know if you really need me to do this music stuff, but... Any countries you're interested in? I do love the Czech Republic. Would you enjoy homemade bath products (bath salts, fizzies, etc.) and/or linen sprays? Esp. if scented with some of your favorite BPAL scents? Nothing for the actual bath since I couldn't enjoy them and would be sad, but linen sprays? Bath oils for moisturizing? Things of that nature? Very yes. If you witch made you something and it didn't come out just right, would you still want it? I'd love it and treasure it! Are you a foodie? This was my question! Also, hell yes. Any sports fans in the house? What's your favorite sport/team/player? Sports? I try to pretend they don't exist. For holidays, do you decorate? Would you like decorative stuff, weenie or otherwise? If so, do you lean towards the elegant, the crafty/folksy, or the more, erm, campy? No, not really, no. Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? Yes! 9/11/10 Cake truffles? If YES! Cake/icing/chocolate type? Um, maybe. Chocolate and dark and dark chocolate. I also like minty chocolate or fruity chocolate. are you interested in mini bottles(under 100ml for hand luggage) of bath and body products? Not really. Vampire shows, literature, etc? Yay or nay? YAY YAY YAY True Blood, yay! Moonlight, yay! Buffy, yay! Sunshine by Robin McKinley, yay! Twilight, Early Anita Blake, yay! Anita-Blake-With-Entire-Chapters-Devoted-To-An-Orgasm Cassie Palmer, yay! Midnight's Daughter, yay! Mercy Thompson, yay! Women of the Underworld, yay! Kitty the Werewolf, yay! Go, go Urban Fantasy! If you play console video games, what game systems do you have and what games would you love to have? Yes. I have a Wii and access to an xBox and I have my PC. I play TF2 on the xBox AND on my PC (I just got the TF2 mug from ThinkGeek!), I like L4D, but have not played L4D2 yet. How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers? I love gardening, but with the amount of moving I do, seeds are just not something that would work out. But the rest of that sounds lovely. How do you feel about marzipan? I don't like nuts unless they are adding texture to a baked good. I really don't like almonds at all. These are lifelong issues of mine. But marzipan is connected to one of the funniest things my mom has ever done to me: My mom got me an almond flavored cake with marzipan instead of frosting for graduation. It wasn't easy to find -- she went to a LOT of trouble for it. So I rallied and ate a piece. It wasn't, you know, the worst day of my life but later (much later, polite distance later) when I was like, "Um, you know I've always hated nuts, right?" she said, "I know -- that's why I got you almonds! Almonds aren't nuts!" If you could have 3 BPAL bottles fall (gently) out of the sky right this second that you've been looking for or pining for - which 3 would they be? Snow White (I had an imp, thought I didn't like it, frimped it, and then later started craving it -- worst frimping ever), Snake Charmer (some lovely lady frimped me this and I can't decide if I love her or hate her for it since I joined too late to be in on the res), some aged smut -- I have some from the 2010 round, but it just isn't the same as my aged imp. Are there any international treats that you love and have a hard time finding? Studentska fruit and nut bars in milk chocolate from the Czech Republic. If you actually managed to find this, I'd probably want to marry you. I look for them EVERYWHERE, and they are SO. Good. Is there anything from the 'Ween BPTP update that you would like but haven't ordered for yourself? Oh god, so much. I'm going to WCWC this month and I was hoping to smell things there and make decisions based on that. When I'm there, I'll be smelling SAGARDOA soap, JACK soap, and the Samhain, Autumn Grove, and New Orleans room sprays. Then I'll make some tough decisions. (Also SOBO, but that is not exactly the 'Ween update.) If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) YES. I would take beads or fabric or roving or yarn. I just like making things with my hands, so I sew and knit and spin and bead. Find your iPod (or other MP3 device), put it on shuffle/random. What are the first five songs to come up? Soundtracks you'd like? If you could see one concert right now, who would it be? 9/10/10 Would you like a bag of dried Honeycrisp apples? No, thank you. If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? And do you have any sensitivies/allergies to any materials? Cool colors and earth tones and jewel tones are best. I would love a knitted thing. Gift Certificate: physical or email? Email. If possible. I lose things. Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents? None -- I'm not really into scented candles. I'm pretty picky and a lot of scents give me headaches. The ones I have, I love (and if you happen to be in the Seattle area, the MarketSpice candles are to DIE for), but in general I'm iffy aobut scented candles. Love unscented ones, though. would you like a zuni animal fetish? And if so, what animal? No, thank you. And how does everyone feel about glow in the dark radishes? http://www.etsy.com/...=cat1_gallery_8 Those look effing amazing. So. Cute. What places to do you visit that you'd like a gift card to? Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, B&N, a favorite restaurant or clothing shop? Um, I'm dying to try out Sock Dreams. I also regularly go to Starbucks, not a big fan of B&N plus I have the Kindle not the Nook, so... Other than that: Amazon. Rambling: one of the most exciting things in my life right now is that I found a really old camera (http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Uniflex_II) at my local junk shop for $15. I took it home and cleaned it. Everything still works on it, even the -- they came with a cord that you pressed a button like a pen top and it took the photo, it's a kind of trigger and even that still works. I'm so excited to start experimenting with it. I love medium format stuff, it just looks so cool. Cake or Frosting? CAKE! I've been known to make frostingless cupcakes. Or "frost" everything with whipped cream and then pretend I don't understand "what's wrong" with them. 9/9/10 What movie scared the bejeezus out of you as a child? Honey, I shrunk the kids I think is the one that I had to leave the theater during due to terror. My dad took me on an awesome exploration (walk around the area) while my sister stayed and watched the movie. Let's see, I would have been... 3, but almost 4 at the time which makes that one of my earliest memories. Name a couple of sites you frequent other than this one: My google-reader, Hulu, Netflix (instant Q, baby!), Fluther.com, Woot, StumbleUpon, Instructables, Ravelry sometimes, Blackboard (for school) Do you like the Muppets? Which is your favorite? I love the muppets and their many muppety friends! I kind of always like Gonzo as a kid -- I felt bad for him. And Hoggle. Random trivia: one of the original Hoggle puppets was actually found in some airline's lost luggage/found items depot. If you could have any creature (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be? Dragon. All the way. Comfort Rereads?: Sunshine by Robin McKinley, a whole bunch of urban fantasy, southern vampires, patricia briggs, early laurell k hamilton (can't deal with the level of smuttiness now, it's just... too much), stardust, the princess bride Will you be going out of town during the round, or is there any other time during the round when it would not be ideal for you to receive a package from your witch? I will go out of town several times, but my housemates are very good about taking in packages and mail. Frankly, I'm in my second year of an MBA program so I could end up leaving town a lot to travel to job fairs or interviews but those would only result in a one or two day delay in reporting on packages -- no worries in terms of someone being here, though. Someone always is. Oh! And: brag, brag, brag, one of my conferences is in LA during Will Call!! I'm super, super excited. So... I'll be heading to WCWC THIS MONTH! If you are in school now, what classes are you taking? Does anything you are currently studying really interest you? (if you are not in school, is there anything you are trying to learn?) I'm in an MBA program. I love, love, love social media marketing. What animal would your daemon be? Alternately, your patronus. I just couldn't say for either of these. I really just don't know. What's YOUR favorite word? Petrichor. Steampunk, yay or nay? If yay, what part appeals most? Yay! The fashion. The extreme romanticizing of a timeperiod I'm interested in anyway (I mean, really, if I could go back in time, I'd want to go back and skip over to a dimension with a lot more steampunk, thanks.) 9/8/10 Do you have a special symbol or totem that is meaningful to you? Nope. Do you need a box for your bpal bottles? Your imps? Your something else to put in a box stuff? I have lovely boxes. I could use some imp containment -- right now they are kind of collected in boxes, but I'd love an ammo case or whatever those are. If you could be any person, being, or animal from Fantasy what or who would you be? Daine, I think, from the Tortall books. If you could go back to any point in time, where, when, why? The Victorian era. For the fashion. No deal if I can't be ridiculously well off, though. I don't want to go back and be a servant type in any part of history. Favorite Halloween Candy/Treat? I dunno. Reese's pieces, I guess. I mean, really? Caramel covered apples. What are your favorite baked goods/homemade treats? I think I said earlier I was a bit against these, but if someone is making caramels... Would you be interested in an astrology birth chart? No, thank you 9/7/10 Socks? Anyone? HELL. YES. I like 'em up to my knees. What is something you use to comfort yourself when feeling yucky, depressed, or in pain? Tea, but I have tons of it. A boozy drink. Good television -- Pushing Daisies or right now it would totally be Haven just because of the ending of the last episode I saw. (So, cheesy or downright bad TV.) Crafting. Calling my fiance on the phone. Favorite Halloween/Scary movies/books: Hocus Pocus. I'm not into really scary things -- oh, though Cry_Wolf was an excellent movie and about my level of "scary" -- I like more cutesy Halloweenie things. Oh! Some "less extreme" horror values can really freak me out/bother me. Definitely better to stick to cute. What would the name of your custom blend be? The description? orange-vanilla buttercream with just a touch of red musk (a touch!). COMIC BOOKS. Do you read them? Are there any series you like, or some you would like to try? Yes! I like Sandman and Fables. I'm interested in Irredeemable. I'm not that far in Fables because I'm missing one of the earlier books! My mum skipped it on accident and I've been lazy about fixing that. 9/6/10 When you go to an etsy wishlist, it will tell you what things are sold. If you click on the sold item, sometimes it will give options that are similar to what was sold, but not identical, would you like the similar item or prefer not to get it at all unless it's the same item? How picky are you? Oh, I mostly put things on my etsy list or Amazon list as a "this is the kind of stuff I like" guide. So similar items would be lovely! Do you wear make up? Not really, no. Sometimes for special occasions. Disney movies, Yay or Nay, and favourites if you do like them? Yes. Oh, yes. Beauty and the Beast -- the original release, not the stupid new one with the stupid new song in the middle of my movie! Aladdin, the Incredibles Do you have A VCR, DVD Player or Blue Ray or a combo of the three? I have a DVD player (this did not stop my sister from giving me the Jim Henson "trilogy" in BluRay -- she's adorable, and one day I'll have a Blu Ray and love her for it ) Would you like custom icons as a gift? Sure! 9/5/10 For those who decorate for Halloween, do you prefer cute decorations or creepy ones?: We don't really decorate. Maybe we will this year, but it would be a house decision and those can get messy and strange. Also, as part of the cute-or-creepy question, would you want hand made, molded, glazed (by yours truly!) ceramic decorations (napkin rings, potporri/tart warmers, etc) to add to your stock? Oh, absolutely! how do you feel about mortars and pestles? I like them, but do not use them often. Is there anything you have a phobia of, or that would make you go "squick" if you saw it in a package? 9/5/10 What is your favourite snack food, something you could grab any time? ice cream? I'm not sure. Maybe carrots and hummus. Or cheese and crackers. I do really like cheese and crackers. Ebooks: I adore my Kindle Nail Polish: I do enjoy some lovely bright, dark blue or dark greens. Soft/plushy things: Yes! I would enjoy them. But not furry things with short fur like velvet. That would make me sick feeling. 9/4/10 Are you into Austen's books? Oh, yes. I have them all on my Kindle. Do you read Tarot cards? If not, would you be interested? No. So for those of you who are into Harry Potter at all, which house do you think you'd be sorted into? Ravenclaw. What, if anything, is your guilty TV watching pleasure? Leverage. Haven. Eureka. Warehouse 13. Bones. Dexter. Castle. Better off Ted. Chuck. Community. Pushing Daisies (I know, I know, it's off air, but... it made me so intensely, insanely happy), Fringe, House, Glee, In Plain Sight If you cosplay or need a costume for your bellydance/burlesque hobby (or any other hobby which needs dressup/different from your normal wear), is there anything you need/want for it? I bellydance, and I love, gosh, anything Victorian/steampunk. And I would totally be into getting something along either of those lines. Gifts for other household members: No, thank you. Are you someone who'd rather have lots of small testers of different things on your wishlist, or would you rather have one or two "big" things? No thank you -- I have no car, so getting around my area is difficult. How about tshirt/bottoms sizes? Size 10. Whatever that equates to in terms of that particular whatever.

    Falling Leaf Moon

I got this about nine months ago and never tried it. I opened the bottle to sniff once and went, "Oh, headachesville". But today, when I opened the bottle again saying, "Hey, maybe that one..." it was not only not headachesville, but just lovely. It dries down very similar to how Mahogany Hall smells in my room, which is just super (this is what I was going through my BPAL looking for this morning). It's a bit sweet, very resinous. I can recognize the resins as what usually bother my head, but either time or masterful blending has mixed them in an EmpressPixie friendly fashion. The oil definitely reminds me of falling leaves -- or more exactly, of wet leaves in a forest. A bit woodsy, a bit wet, and a bit autumn.

    Leather

Western Diamondback is completely delicious, but I don't get any leather from it (oddly enough, I tend to get a nice, spicy sunblock, but that's another discussion entirely). For the leatheriest leather to ever leather in a leatherly way, track down some Traveler. You won't regret it -- it's like dusty, worn leather and so leatherily leather. Red Rider was some good leather, White Rider was too much chemical and not enough of a leather smell to my nose (I suspect it would settle in a bit over time, though).

    Thirteen (13): February 2009

On my skin, this smells like a thick, molasses-y gingerbread. Brown sugar sweetness and delightful spices. It's like a really classy incense shop and a high quality gingerbread bakery opened up next door to each other. I love it. It's definitely a nice "hoping for autumn" scent. Chocolate? What's that? None of that here. Nope. Not a bit.

    Cykranoshian Catnip

This is straight up my mother's potpourri on me. Woodsy, orange-y, a little spicy, and a bit powdery. The potpourri that we had in the hallway from the time I was eight until I left the house. Once it has dried down for a while, it's like someone spritzed some cologne on my mother's potpourri. Still mostly my mother's potpourri, but a wee bit of classic men's cologne back there. Probably delightful for many, but I just don't want to wander about smelling like that potpourri. Perhaps I'll give the imp to my mother...

    Midnight Kiss

I got this at C2E2 after everyone started raving about it on the C2E2 thread. Half of the notes are things that usually do not work on me: most cocoas turn into cheap tootsie rolls, amber goes powdery, patchouli just takes over, and wine smells like rotting grapes. Midnight Kiss is not that kind of scent. Wet and in the bottle, midnight kiss is glistening red fruits on top of freshly baked brownies. As it dries, a deep, red incense and whisp of tobacco smoke begin to emerge still overshadowed by the red fruit. The brownies wave goodbye, which is a shame because they were delightful. The scent goes from dark forest brownies to red, deep, and sultry.

    Kunstkammer

This smelled just like grape soda in the bottle to me. On and dry (it dried like it was in a marathon -- on and dry almost immediately), it reminds me of these little tins of fruit candies we used to get -- both the fruitiness, the sweetness, and the powder scent from rumbling around in a metal tin and grinding up a bit. It isn't a baby-powder scent at all. It's nice, but probably not really an every day scent for me (it's a rare day that I wake up thinking, "I should smell like candy today") but a perfect candy scent.
  9. EmpressPixie

    Lightning

Lemony tart candy and ozone, ozone, ozone wet. On dry down, I'm getting that laundry vibe complete with a tad of powder, some sweetness, some lemon-tartness. The sweetness makes it a very pretty, feminine perfume on me. I miss the ozone, though. I want to feel like I'm standing in the middle of a storm, but doing some pretty household chores.

    The Hesperides

In the imp, it is really fruity and juicy smelling. Yummy, yummy. Tragically, on my skin it is apples in the rain vying with bandaids. I dabbed some on one wrist not even five minutes ago and the scent is already gone from that wrist. I'm actually timing the other, but in short? My skin eats this. Just straight up eats it. For dinner. It's lovely while it lasts, but 5 minutes isn't exactly what I'm looking for in a perfume.
  11. EmpressPixie

    Saw-Scaled Viper

Wet, I get intense ginger. Just gintense. It's like the sharpest gingerbread I've made. Which means it is also a bit sweet and a bit bready. Dry, it is like breathing in sweet cinnamon, ginger wood. There is a heaviness to it that is not as common for me, I almost feel like I can chew the scent. Which is nice, because I want to eat my arm up right now.
  12. EmpressPixie

    The Traveller

In the bottle it smelled almost medicine-y to me, but on and dry it smells like ever so slightly dusty, raw leather. Not old, comfortable, worn leather but raw, rough leather. I'm amping this leather like crazy (something new for me) so I'm not really getting anything other than bam!leather! And that's delicious.

But Men Loved Darkness Rather Than Light

I'm wondering if I'm going insane -- here is what I'm getting from this: Bubblegum. In the bottle and then on my skin, bubblegum. As it dries down, I'm getting some woodsy soap in the background. And some lovely clove. The bubblegum fades pretty quickly into a woodsy, incense-y soap. Which is more what I expected (minus the soap, sigh, something isn't working) but the bubblegum threw me off terribly at first.

    Crib Girls

In the imp and on my skin, this smells dead on like a lemon-honey cough drop. Maybe a tad sweeter than that, but pretty dead on. So if you combined a lemon candy with a lemon-honey cough drop, I think you'd get to it. The upside is that there is little morph on my skin. It smells truly delightful layered with Countess Willie. (Well, "layered" in that I put the areas I'd swabbed them on side by side and sniffed.)
  15. EmpressPixie

    Countess Willie

At first sniff this smells like really good spicy, gumdrops. Fruity and sweet and spicy and I seriously just want to eat it up. Like.. the best spicy gumdrops out there. I'm seriously bouncing in my chair with how mouthwateringly delicious this smells. As it dries, I'm getting more spice that fruit. There is a bit of a sharp scent I don't love in there, but the overall scent is omg!amazing, gnaw off finger good. (I happened to swab it on my finger -- this is a first for me.) Every time I sniff it, I start bouncing in my chair again with out amazingly good it is. I'm certain a bottle is in my future here. I mean, when a scent makes you literally bounce...
  16. EmpressPixie

    El Dia de los Reyes

At first sniff, it smells a bit like high quality peanut butter and chocolate. Once on, it changes to a high quality hot cocoa with a bit of coffee and definitely a strong cocoa butter. And some sugary sprinkles on top. Dry it smells like a chocolate smelling doll I had as a kid -- which isn't a bad thing. I used to hold that doll up to my nose and huff. Definitely a bit of cinnamon had crept in. Other than that, mostly cocoa. Definitely a keeper, but I don't think an upgrader. And imp should do it.

    Raven Moon

In bottle: Dark, smoky resins and patchoulli. Wet: It smells like something dark and sludgy, slowly moving in the night. A little sweet, quite a bit of patchouli, a bit like raisins, musky, a little sharp, and just... dark. Drydown: This is simply gorgeous. It's perfect for a dark night. I take everything I said about it being sludgy and slow back. Everything. It's dark, resinous, sexy, smoky, vanilla-y, light patchouli, a bit of chili. There's something incredibly bright and swift about it in its darkness. It's everything I could want in a dark, beautiful perfume. Lovely, just lovely.

    The White Rider

In the bottle this smells lightly like a barn. A bit of leather, something almost sweet from the hay, an almost sour note, and a dusty, light sandalwood that I had to really look for to find. It smells just lovely -- almost like a barn on a warm day. Wet, the, um, negative elements of a barn are coming out a bit -- the sour note is amping and it smells, frankly, like my cat's litter box. Tragically, my skin is taking whatever it can out of this and warping it horribly into "fresh step litter box while scooping the clumps". I think it is a combination of something going sweetly powdery and the rest of the scent. If I put my nose up to it and smell deeply, I can smell that gorgeous, gorgeous (it really is beautiful) sandalwood under there, so I can only assume it is the leather that my skin is objecting to -- and whatever my skin doesn't like is what is giving it some throw. So I'm getting gently wafting cat box instead of lovely sandalwood. EDITED TO ADD: Okay, about an hour later, it has faded to soft, old leather, horse flank on a warm but not hot day, and the cat dirt smell is no longer gently wafting towards me. I don't think that's going to be enough to keep it, though. I had really high hopes for this. I think it's going to be my first ever immediate trading bottle.

I bought this on eBay at the beginning of my BPAL spree. Before I knew that roses and amber go powdery and the roses that don't powder give me a massive headache. But I just can't let it go! Let me explain: On drydown, it goes powdery. Light powder over rose, woodsiness, patchouli, and something dark and slightly sweet and oozing. If I can get past (ie, ignore) the powder, it's gorgeous. Just gorgeous. And after an hour (or two) the powder fades and what is left is so lovely. The long lasting drydown is actually -- on those days I want to smell dirty, manly, fabulous -- so amazing that I think it is totally worth the first hour or so of powder.

    Pumpkin IV (2009)

In the bottle: This is definitely sweet pumpkin buttered popcorn. Very sweet and smooth, a touch of something "off" and sharp that I'm coming to realize is black musk. The off-sharp in the bottle doesn't usually transfer to off/sharp on my skin entirely. Wet: Cloves and buttery pumpkin. I'm really only getting buttery pumpkin pie so far. Way off in the distance, there might be an interesting and faint scent of something else. Drydown: Still very buttery and pumpkin, but the cloves, tobacco, and myrrh are taking a stronger role. Black musk usually shows up last to the party with me and lasts the longest, so I'll have to wait a bit more. At the end of the drydown, it's all myrrh and musk with a pumpkin backdrop.

I have to premise this review by saying I have evergreen allergies. Too much evergreen gives me a headache. That said, I had to try this because it sounded lovely and I do like evergreen, I just occasionally don't get along with it. In bottle: Very heavy evergreen. Is there anything else even in here? Wet: A greener, sappy evergreen. It's really lovely. Reminds me of Christmas. No headache yet. Dry: The longer it dries, the greener it gets -- more like freshly cut green things than evergreen, but clearly some of both. It's also getting florally sweet as it dries, but just a touch. The heather is coming out nicely and the sage is making a brief appearance. Not an every day for me, but definitely a keep-the-imp.

    The Hell-Gate Of Ireland

In bottle: It's a little bit yummy and a little bit incredibly sharp and bitter. I'm torn between "can't wait to try it on!" and "oh god, do I really want to put it on me?" Wet: Good throw. The yummy scents -- clove and something sweet -- are coming out. But that bitter scent -- copper feathers and brimstone, I'd say -- are nicely holding up in the background. It's kind of like the pumpkin pie from hell. It just arrived via HellExpress and still has a bit of smoldering brimstone to it. The musk is a bit of a bad note right now. I'm hoping it smooths out in the dry down. Dry: The yummy sweet clove scent is fading swiftly, left with the almost burned metallic scent. It's still drying (this is the longest it has ever taken for an oil to dry on me). I think it is something I'm very happy I have an imp of, but an imp will do. Final dry notes: at moments it has a sweet, spicy scent, then without warning it will morph to a sharp, brimstone scent. I think this is wonderful. Not for everyday use, but certainly has its days. The brimstone, metallic scent also settled into something smoother than the original scent, so it isn't quite as sharp.

    Suck It

In the bottle: Wait, did I really order cherry flavored cough syrup? This does not bode well. Wet: Okay, less like cough syrup, more like cherry kool aid. Not awful, but not something I necessarily want to smell like. Where is that boozy note? Dry: Cherry chapstick. You know that horrible waxy taste that chapstick has if you just eat it? Yeah, that. Heavily present. With a very sharp note -- like some sort of industrial cleaner. Fortunately, my body appears to be eating this scent. It hasn't been on for long at all, and it is disappearing rapidly. The cherry has faded almost completely. So this obviously didn't work on me. I shall be sending my imp on to a more deserving, body chemistry appropriate person asap.

    Sugar Moon 2008

In the bottle is almost smells too sweet -- all rich caramelized sugar with a hint of something floral behind it. Wet, it smells entirely like creme brulee -- richly burned sugar, ahoy! The rich sugary smell dissipates very quickly on me letting the fruity, musky, and floral notes come out. At first I thought it was settling into grape soda -- a combination of fruits and rose on me, apparently. Then a rosy musky scent. I keep sniffing my wrists and just can't tell where it is settling, even after 30 minutes. One sniff is totally grape soda and the next is warm and musky. While I'm a big fan of foodie smells, I'm not sure how I feel about this grape soda tendency.

    Black Moon

Just got this and my fiance thinks it is just heavenly. Wet - there is a hint of pear and cucumber, as well as something wet and green (jasmine and something else) Dry - smells like fresh cut flower stems and jasmine In bottle - the cucumber and pear were stronger and the green/jasmine smells were much lighter. I'm not in love with it, but it works with me.
