    Bleeding Walls

Love this so much. Was gonna buy a bottle then I realised it’s out of stock It reminds me of Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry but it’s heavier on the cherry (his is more almond) and musk.

    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

I'm not getting the unisex part everyone's talking about...I think it might translate a little sweet on a man. This is sexy in a very womanly burlesque kinda way. It's all cacao, tobacco and incense on me. I love it!

    Now Winter Nights Enlarge

Omg, how is it that I've never reviewed this scent before? I've had it for years and coming from a tropical climate, tend to reach for it only on cold & rainy days. Humidity does not like strong smells. This is a gorgeously sexy smoked caramel red musk combination that should be reserved for evenings. Invokes Autumn so beautifully, though I believe it was one of the Yule releases. In fact, I just got reminded of it as I was sipping on my Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha Frappe! How insane is that? Beth, you are incredible.

    Variety of Pleasing Amusements

Luper win! Finally! This actually smells better on my clothes, than on my skin! I can't pick out individual notes, but I do get tobacco, honey and leather. It's lovely. Very comfortingly familiar, but I can't place a finger on what it reminds me of... I might need a bottle. Still contemplating.

    Narrow Opening

Rum, leather and frankincense. Hell, it even smells a bit like cinnamon and pine cleaner! No vanilla or champaca. Was expecting so much from this.

    Blooming Rose

Peony and rose are not my best friends. Got nothing on my skin save for rose baby powder. Bleurgh.

    Lady in Speckled Pink Kimono

Peony and something sweet. No vanilla orchid. In any case, it's way too demure and doesn't have much character for me to wear.

    Blossoms in Springtime

Vanilla bean and vanilla blossom, golden honey, antiqued amber, beeswax, copal, lotus blossom, and helichrysum. I wanted to love this. In the imp, it reminded me of Penis Admiration (one of my absolute faves). On my skin, all I get is spicy floral powder. If helichrysum is indeed immortelle, explains why I can't wear it. Had the same problem with The Rose In The Deeps Of His Heart - kinda dusty in a very weird way. No vanilla, no honey, nothing. Also, it kinda burns on contact...I don't know why! So far all the 2012 Lupers I've tried have failed on me.

    L’Essence de la Passion

I inhaled this in the imp and my eyes rolled back in my head. I love red musk anything, so I just had to try this. On my skin, it's red musk (much like Smut), carnation (I have tried this flower at BPAL before? It's incredible! Reminds me of something out of my grandfather's garden - been looking for it forever!) and honey. Sexyyy. I need a bottle.

    L’Essence de L’Ardeur

Biggest disappointment of all the Eros Inquisitions. This started out so beautifully...rich chocolate. Then rose, rose & rose. Then washing powder. Then *poof*

    L’Essence de la Folie

Eh... Is there pomegranate in this? Or is that just the Daemonorops? No chocolate to my nose. I just get a blast of cinnamon and pink pepper mixed with...bubblegum is probably accurate. I was expecting more "madness" as well. It's not crazy enough. Just spiced fruity baked goods. To the swap pile, it goes.

    Pink Lace

Got this as a generous frimp from a decant circle purchase. Pink Lace is the strawberry version of my beloved Dark Chocolate, Whiskey & Cognac Truffle. I don't fancy pink, nor do I like strawberries...a little girly for me. In fact, the strawberries disappear from my skin after about half an hour, leaving only the booze and vanilla/cream? No incense. I have Egg Nog and Mother Shub's Spiced Lait de Chèvre (my faves) if I want to smell like Bailey's.

    The Sorrow of Love

Stargazer Lily. High-pitched and soapy after. Nothing else. The hunt for my perfect Yeats scent continues...

The Rose in the Deeps of his Heart

Dude, what is this? Old cupboard in a dilapidated house with withered flowers, talcum powder and sawdust? To be fair, I'm not a rose lover, but I did want to try this for Yeats alone. There's some amber (which I love, but not in here) and frankincense. Smells a little bitter, if you know what I mean. Would be a nice scent in an antique gift, but on my skin, no.

    Séance

Frimp from the lab. I didn't get any hazel in this. Just rose. Then it all disappeared within a couple of hours. Would rather wear Lilith or Black Rose for more character.

    The Wild Swans At Coole

I'm a total Yeats fangirl so I try to collect all of BPAL's Yeats releases. Wore this last night. Quite fitting, since I visited the nearby lake with a friend. Plenty of stars and a gorgeous waning moon in the night sky as a backdrop. This starts out heavily floral and powdery, then mellows out into this leafy aquatic. It's not me. Glad I gave it a try, though.

    Black Rose

For some reason, this is darker than The Obsidian Widow - might be the black musk and amber combo. No jasmine either, yay. I'm glad it's working on me. I'm not a rose lover, but this is pretty awesome. This one comes pretty darn close in my quest for Black Rose Immortal. I'll keep my eyes open anyway, just in case there's a better scent.

    Lilith

To me, this is sensual and sinister and has lots of red wine, but only at the beginning. I wish the wine notes lasted a little longer. It just becomes a generic girly rose at the end (much like Rose Red and Peacock Queen on me, which I've since presented to a friend of mine who is better able to wear such scents). I only like my roses if they've been tampered with something dark. Otherwise there's not much character for me to wear. For that reason, I have to keep re-applying it. Irksome.

    The Obsidian Widow

I have been on the never-ending hunt for a scent that might emulate the darkness of Opeth's Black Rose Immortal. Unfortunately, I did not find it in this scent. Pity, as I really love Pinot Noir, sandalwood and patchouli. Must be the damned jasmine...reminds me of this really old and musty mall here that houses helper agencies, sex shops and gothic clothing. Not in a good way. Smells like rose incense sticks from a chamber-pot! Must be my horrid skin chemistry!

    Black Butterfly Moon

I loved the idea behind this scent, so I got it couple of years ago. When I first tried it, it smelled way too cologne-y and heady so I left it in my drawer. Tried it again last week and yesterday. This is an extremely dark and mossy floral scent. Even cloying. I reserve it for evenings only and certain moods. I have a love-hate relationship with it. Some days, I adore it. Other days, I have to live through the headache that the first stage gives me in order to love the final softness. I love orchids, so it's kinda hard for me to let this one go.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Is there anything similar to Sarah in the GC? Unholy mist congealing into soft, white flesh, with black marble, remnants of liturgical incense, wolf's fur, and black flecks of froth. To me, it's similar to Nyarlathotep, but colder and more feminine.

    Fledgling Raptor Moon

I think this might be gender-neutral. I'm smelling clove, spices and lots of sandalwood on me. Reminds me of my dad and this guy I like. I quite like it, but maybe not so much on myself. I'll be keeping it though, just because.

    Somnus

I had this imp for a long time. I am an insomniac by nature and like to be (haha, it helps when I want to write in the wee hours of the morning), but yesterday I was anxious, headachey and in a bad mood and wanted nothing more than to just get to sleep. Took a painkiller and reached for this. I got very strong lavender first, not a fan. Started to smell like my mum's incense sticks at the prayer altar. They're nice, but on my skin...not so much. Within minutes, I could smell jasmine. Oh no. Jasmine gives me a migraine. The scent was so strong that my brother was keeping his nose under his shirt the whole time. *lol* I wanted to wash it off so badly. Then I fell asleep. I think I slept at least 10 hours. My painkiller is non-drowsy, so I'm not sure if it was my own fatigue that caused me to be knocked out or Somnus. It's a very rare thing for me to drift off at 11pm. Gotta try this one again on a day where I'm calm.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Is there a scent similar to Marc Jacobs Violet Splash in the BPAL catalouge? It's my favourite commericial perfume and I'm saving my bottle like a treasure since it's been discontinued. Top Notes: sparkling bergamot and peony Middle Notes: delicate violet, orchid, orris and creamy cashmere accord Base Notes: cedar wood, vanilla, musk, and gingerbread On me, it's very much a skin scent...the closest I've found for the drydown was the LE Penis Admiration (Shunga) from Lupercalia. Just that the latter doesn't have the ginger and violets of Marc, but more lilac. Is there anything like it? Thanks!

    Thalia

I've never been a fruity-floral person. I decided to try this due to my love for plumeria and frangipani. Sadly, I don't get the plumeria scent I'm so used to smelling in childhood near my school. From start to finish, it's bright pear, generic flowers and plastic.
