    Valencia Orange Hair Gloss

i received a frimp of this awhile back and am finally trying it. it just smells like straight up orange blossom to me, with maybe a hint of orange rind and a woody petitgrain. i love orange blossom so i find this gorgeous and perfect for warmer weather.

    Bon Vivant

i got a frimp of this one. i don't usually do fruity scents so this isn't really my type of scent i usually wear, however it is kind of nice. it's very joyful. it's mostly strawberry with a hint of the effervescence of the champagne. it's a little plasticky and therefore smells like a strawberry shortcake doll to me, which brings up fond childhood memories. i find it to be a youthful and joyful scent.

    The Harlot's House

at first i mostly get a crisp white tea with oakmoss. it's herbal and refreshing. after a bit i get some white sandalwood in the background. i don't seem to get any florals here...or if they are here they add a sort of soapy element because this smells quite clean and soapy on me. i think of angel's trumpet as more of an indolic white/yellow floral and violets as powdery or green. so unless this is a very green violet, i think my skin showcases tea/oakmoss which makes for that clean herbal thing. there is a TINY hint of floral sweetness in the back...maybe that's the violet (?)
  4. this opens with a dusky neroli and olive leaf…maybe a hint of the polished brass. this reminds me of one of the earliest BPAL scents i tried 20 years ago (can't remember which one), and i am really liking it. instead of a bright fresh neroli, this is a darker one. it stays pretty linear on me-i don't sense vanilla or carnation, though there is a dusky amber in the background. so pretty!

Sich Aufstützender Weiblicher Akt Mit Langem Haar

this one smells like laundry detergent or a very bracing soap like irish spring. not what i was expecting! i don't even understand what note(s) i am even getting here because i don't associate any of them with this kind of scent. all i can think of is that it's sandalwood and iris, and both are more soapy/sharp/fresh versions? i don't smell tonka, benzoin, vanilla, amber or mimosa-all which tend to be soft, fluffy and warm. i was really drawn to this one because i absolutely love most of these notes but alas, this is not for me.

    On Beauty

this starts with a lot of narcissus with a slight smokiness in the background from the tobacco flower. lately i've really been loving narcissus so i am enjoying this. it's such a weird floral that if prominent, only seems to really work in small windows of the year during the spring and fall...it's transitional. i find it works best when cold moving to warm and secondly when warm moving to cold. so this time of year, pre-spring is perfect for a narcissus scent. after a few more minutes it's slightly softened by vanilla. i really like this one...it's very spring/late winter to me. the vanilla helps soften the narcissus somewhat, but you'd really have to like narcissus to like this one.

    The Woodland So Wild

this starts with carnation and cedar for me...spicy and woody. a hint of peony adds a soapiness, followed by some tonka. after a few minutes i get some smoky leather and vanilla. it's a spicy, smoky floral on me. it dries down to mostly carnation, vanilla and leather with some orris in the background. kind of dry/spicy/leathery overall. it's nice!

    Together We Shall Rejoice Lotion

i received a frimp of this...full disclosure i am not an apple/fruity person and generally avoid such scents but i try all frimps. it opens with a crisp apple, reminds me of lots of shampoos i have tried back in the day. i guess the apple + sweetness from honey gives it this feeling. it is by no means bad at all, but i don't like smelling like fruit (mostly) or shampoo, so this is not for me. i think apple lovers would like it though...apple can go screechy on me, and this does not thankfully.

    Snow White Atmospheric Spray

this is so pretty. i tried the perfume years ago and it didn't quite work on my skin, but i love the atmo spray. warm, bright and a bit creamy. so cozy for winter. glad i got some of this!

    Lavender Apron Atmosphere Spray

i just tried this before re-reading the notes. it seems like lavender with light wildflowers and a touch of sweetness. i guess that's the sugar and now that i am reading the notes, i notice the "cotton twill" element. this is so light and pretty. it's been rainy for days and this is definitely a pick me up. i think it will be gorgeous in spring as well.

    Revenant Rhythm

I never tried the original except for the hair gloss. I still have a small decant of that. I put that on my arms first and then put the perfume my wrist. Next to each other, they smell fairly different. The hair gloss has more of a chocolaty patchouli note to me and is more earthy, whereas the 2025 perfume is sweeter and fruitier, and definitely reminds me of Angel by Mugler. I do like both, but they do seem a bit different to me. also the HG seems to have more staying power on my skin.

    The Jersey Devil

i received this as a frimp and as far as i can tell, i have never tried it. i love trying new to me GCs! anyhoo, it opens kind of sweet and tart at the same time-i get berries and tomato leaf with a tiny hint of cedar. the pine comes out more later, and then unfortunately the berries get kind of plasticky. it has that doll's head smell...while i like it as an idea, i dont' really like to smell like it, if that makes sense. still i find this scent to be very joyous and uplifting.

    Porcelain Bat

i definitely get the vanilla plaster feeling at first, along with orris...kind of dusty-powdery, almost like flour. several seconds later i get a tiny hint of the leather and fur...and something smells almost mildly spicy too. overall it's a dry orris-plaster. it's really interesting and i appreciate it for that, but i would probably wear it rarely...even though i like it. also i am trying in cold fall weather...i think this might work better in warmer early spring weather. perhaps i'll retry it then.

    Convertible Hearse Atmosphere Spray

i got a frimp of this and i really like it. i smell the dead leaves and something that definitely feels like an atmospheric airy sort of scent, mixed with a hint of something smoky/leathery. it really smells like you're sitting in an old car with leather seats driving in autumn with the windows open.

    Concert

i love the art for this and i covet that dress. anyhoo it opens with red musk and something animalic, which is the black velvet note perhaps (?) it's oud-y. i then get some amber and maybe champaca but it's not all that floral.another reviewer mentioned nag champa and i totally smell it now. however this is mostly animalic oud on me that doesn't want to calm down. i get no rose and maybe a tiny bit of champaca? i think this would be gorgeous on someone else but it's not working for me.

    The Second Veil

i definitely get wine/grapes at first along with the "organza" fabric sort of note. later i get some background notes but they aren't too obvious. the grape is strong here for me and the lilac is overpowered by grape. kinda wish this didn't have the grape/wine aspect....i think it'd work better for me as it's just not my cup of tea.

White Flowers, Red Ink, Black Paper

this opens with voluptuous white flowers...i think it's a spicier tuberose, but could be gardenia. luckily, i love those notes so i like this. i get something a bit papery/vinyl like from the ink and paper notes i guess. i think there may be some other subtler white florals here too-like moonflower or phlox. after awhile i get a slight spiciness, but i can't quite place it-maybe pink pepper? there is also something a bit sweet here...above reviewers mentioned red musk, but if it is it's quite subtle on me, because i didn;t read it as that. i'm not sure, anyway this is a pretty floral and i will keep my decant.

    Plastic Rats

i received a frimp of this from a lovely decant circle. yep it's 100% black licorice from the get-go...there is a hint of toastiness to it, which i often get with foody scents. it smells more like fennel than anything, i think. the amber is quite subtle. after a few minutes i get a lightness from the pepper, which adds an interesting element to licorice. the licorice is still the strongest note though.

    Sweet Clove and Vetiver

i think this was a frimp, because i don't think i'd order this, though i like both notes in moderation/depending on the blend. at first the vetiver is a bit stronger but then the clove takes over and it's a spicy clove with an underlying vetiver that somehow feels like tobacco, haha. i think it's very nicely balanced.

    Cerise Dragon Hair Gloss

i received a frimp of this from a lovely decant circle organizer. it opens with cherry, currant and the fluorescent lightning which i guess is an ozonic sort of thing? i think the currant is actually stronger than the cherry here, along with the fluorescent note. it smells pretty odd on me and also ozonic/too sweet so just not my cup of tea.

    Interminable Grotesques

immediately i read this as cherry, but i guess it's almond blossom. it's quite a sweet almond at first along with something kind of synthetic like vinyl or rubber. i love all these notes so i was intrigued on how they might work together. after a couple minutes i think i am getting narcissus though it does smell pretty warped with the almond. after awhile i get some opium which adds an incensy element, but overall it's a very sweet almond blossom/narcissus. i love these notes and it's better after about 45 minutes-at that point the almond has died down and it's more of a narcissus/opium with hints of heliotrope. i have a few of the lab's narcissus blends and prefer those to these...the almond blossom is just too sweet/strong for me. however, i love seeing a narcissus note show up more often!

    Black Lipstick

oh man, this reminds me of my dad's artist friend, Laurel. she was a cool aunt figure i had in the 80s. she had this red borghese lipstick that smelled kind of like a waxy floral and this is what this smells like at first. total time traveling memories at first sniff for me. clove comes in later giving it the goth garb. i love this due to my personal association and also i love a lipstick scent! dries down to a spicy, waxy nondescript floral which kind of seems like rose but isn't really rose.

    Stilleven Met Bijbel

this opens with leather and dusty pages. i also get something slightly rubbery, i think it's the ink. i was hoping for an ambery beeswax with hints of the other notes but no, it's the first three notes only until about 45 minutes later i get a bit of beeswax and maybe oakmoss. overall it's paper/ink heavy on my skin with leather. interesting, but ultimately not for me.

Black Butterfly Moon: Vanilla and Tobacco Flower

in the vial i smell mostly a sweetish but not super foody vanilla. however, when first applied i get a dry tobacco note at the forefront with vanilla in the background. i also notice the dirt/patchouli thing others have mentioned. i also thought this would be a bit sweeter than it is. it gets a little more blended after being on the skin for a bit and the earthy note calms down a bit. it reminds me of several other scents i've tried but i don't remember them of course. i like this-it's cozy.
