    Chaos Theory VII: Gourmand

This is bottle #163. This is quite full into the neck and the oil is clear in color. Immediately get a blast of citrus, lemon to be exact. There's something else in here. Maybe some of that burnt caramel. It's a sweet yet "brown scent. But really this still reminds me of Lemon Pledge. This isn't morphing much as it dries. It's just lemony, fuzzy, but barely sweet.

    Chaos Theory VII: Animalic

This is bottle #45. The oil is clean with a slight yellow tinge and full to the neck. There is definitely some coconut meat or shell in this - a lot of it. It gives it a creamy tone to it. Some brown musk and maybe some orris. It's soft and brown and cozy. Smells like there might be a bit of leather in here too. Not my favorite CT, but it's really nice and well blended for sure.

    Chaos Theory VII: Floral

This is bottle #43. The oil is just to the shoulder and clear. This is slightly sharp but very spicy. Seems to have some sort of fuzzy brown undertone which is maybe a tonka and brown musk. Has a strong resemblance to Fruminious Bandersnatch while fresh - but becomes more of a cousin as it dries. There's a bit of a water feel as well so maybe some tuberose. Seems like it has some orchid as well with that hot house scent. I really like this blend. It's sweet and heady with a bit of spice. The sharp note has died down as it dries. There's a soapy undertone that's trying to come out. Fresh dragon's blood goes pure soap on me, but the oil color doesn't reflect dragon's blood so maybe a rose instead as some of them can go soapy fresh too.

    Chaos Theory VII: Oriental

This is bottle #110. Oil is clear and full into neck. Vanilla and a heady full flower. Gives off a "pink" feel. Maybe a bit of peony, touch of carnation, and a soft musk. This is very soft, only slightly sweet with a hint of spicy, but heady and full. Has a feel of a scented powder applied over top of a floral perfume - but totally not in an "old lady" or bad way. It's quite lovely and more complex than I think it lets on.

    Chaos Theory VII: Gourmand

This is oil #132. The oil is slightly yellowish in color and filled just into the neck. This smells like it has tonka and maybe some orange blossom. Maybe some coconut husk or meat to give it a creamy feel. There's also a wooden scent, maybe teak. Very nice, creamy, smooth and not overly foodie. The more I sniff it the more it smells like a sweeter version of The Antikythera Mechanism. Which is totally awesome IMO!

    Chaos Theory VII: Floral

I received bottle #30. Fill level is low for a CT - just under top of shoulder. This is very floral. White flowers, maybe a bit of tuberose, some rose and maybe iris. You can smell the greenness with the flowers - like they are fresh cut. These flowers are sweet and soft and feminine. There also seems to be a bit of "wetness" to it as well, as though they are fresh cut flowers just placed in a vase full of water. I was worried about the Floral CT's, but this one is very nice!

    Chaos Theory VII: Woods

I received bottle #39 Bottle is quite full into top of neck. Oil is clear and slightly yellowish. Very woody and dry. Smells like cedar and maybe sandalwood. There is a sweet scent, maybe a golden dry amber - the amber reminds me of The Lion. This kind of reminds me of Antique, so maybe it has some juniper in there. It's like rolling around in very dry and very fragrant woods. It's nice, sweet, dry woods - lots of different woods. Overall it's quite nice with a bit of throw.

    Chaos Theory VII: Oriental

This is bottle 131. The oil is clear/light. Bottle full to just at top of shoulder. This is a sweet and soft scent. There is a minty quality to it in that wet if gives off a cool-type scent. Definitely some vanilla and white florals. Maybe some skin musk. Has a slightly resinous undertone, possibly benzoin or maybe amber, but a white amber if it is. There might be a hint of a fruit in here giving it some more sweetness, but it's not overpowering. This dries close to the skin. Edit: Much later in the dry down the fruit comes out and it's a sweet fruit reminding me of plum, or perhaps it's mimosa I'm smelling, or a red grape. It has a "purple" or dark fruit feel to it. Edit 2: So it can sometimes take a while to understand what it is you're smelling. I get it now. It's a red or some kind of berry wine, vanilla, and a soft floral and maybe a hint of amber. It's really nice now that it's had time to sit and come to terms with itself. Definitely a keeper. I really dig the lab's wine/alcohol notes.
  9. Somebody compared The White Witch to it--it's an LE from last year, but I don't think it's rare. Might be worth a shot. I've never tried Crypt Queen, but I do love my Witch. I actually have White Witch. I'll have to do a side by side to see. I love the Witch too. =)

    Crypt Queen

Mme. Moriarty's mentor - old, dry, brittle, but still alive with the thrum of blood. Patchouli is not a note I got hunting for, but it always ends up being in some of my favorite blends. The plum and other fruits lend it a bit of sweetness that keeps this blend from being overly dry and droll. The rose and gardenia lift the blend up out of the grave. The rose musk is giving me the sense that it's much redder and reminding me more of red musk. And the blood accord lets you know the Queen is still very much alive.
  11. I had read that the OLLA, Funnel of Love, is close in spirit to the Crypt Queen. "The whole feeling of this blend is rather like Crypt Queen, but with less fruit." Thanks I'll check that out!
  12. Possibly a long shot but ... I was just recently frimped Crypt Queen and I immediately fell in love. Is there something similar in the GC or even current available LE's?

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I have a small obsession with the lab's bamboo note, but I'm always on the lookout for some wonderful BPAL. Currently, my all time favortie BPAL hovers between Autumn Coolness and Leanan Sidhe. Top 5: 1) Autumn Coolness 2) Leanan Sidhe 3) Clockwork Coture: Female 4) Mme. Moriarty 5) O Daughter of Death and Priapus Anything you can suggest I should try out?

    Hearts for Ghost Friends

Soft and ethreal. It has a sweetness to it and the frankincense gives it a flowing base. Once dry it has a sweet and comforting feel to it. It's cozy and warm like a hug.

    Fairy Thorn

This is a super green scent with hints of flowers and a soft sweetness rounding it all out ... but on the edges is something sharp. Not painful, but there.

    Lady in Speckled Pink Kimono

Soft and sweet and so very girly. It's just perfect in its simplicity. Beth never ceases to amaze with these!

    The White Witch

This is just pure delight with a hint of bad in a bottle. I got so many compliments on this the first time I wore it - more than any other BPAL ever. The patchouli is there, but not overwhelming. The amber and red musk dominate the wet stage, but then they begin to play nice and the myrrh pulls out the rose and some sweetness from the pomegranate. Overall I'm completely in love and am dying for another bottle!

    Tamora

In the bottle this smells almost like a fruit overload. But that smell lies. Because it is not a fruit overload. It is the softest, smoothest, gently sweet blend. The amber and the vanilla are at the forefront and it almost has a hint of O to it ... but not enough because the peach blossom and heliotrope give it a fruity twist and the sandalwood gives it a base to sit on. This is sitting out on a warm summer day as a kid, eating some peach ice cream and swinging your feet just enjoying life and the scene around you.

    Love Lay Upon Her Eyes

First word that comes to mind is dainty. Mostly because I've been huffing much bolder scents in the last hour or more. But this is amber and rose, without question. Soft, slightly sweet. And it's a very full rose, petals open and releasing all of their scent, pulling insects closer to them, luring them in. The amber is soft, powdery and gentle.

    Spellbound

I felt a little silly ordering this blend when I'd also purchased three other Luper's with rose, and one with rose and red musk as well. But they are different, though subtly so. Spellbound is red musk which is softened by amber with a beautiful bright red rose in full bloom sitting atop it. I remember getting an imp of this way back when I first started BPAL and it's the same exact scent I remember, but for whatever reason I'd recoiled at first. I wish now I'd never done that ... this is a truly beautiful blend and I'm glad my nose has wised up.

    The Expiration

The Expiration is a dark blend as well, but in a different way. The myrrh is very prominent and it's both sweeter and more resinous than I thought it would be. The sandalwood comes out after drydown and the rose is soft and wafting. The amber honey is a sweet resin, the myrrh a nice base holding it down. Honestly I think this blend is my favorite out of the Lupers.

O Love and Time and Sin

It's very complex for only having three notes in it. The opponax is pretty strong at first and it kinda fights the musk. The rose is absent in the wet stage almost, but there's something floral just hiding. Eventually everyone plays nice together once it starts drying down and then it's just heady, very slightly sweet and quite musky. Darkly sexy. A barely visible sexy.

    Khajuraho

2008 version This is better than I thought it would be. It's soft and sweet and slightly floral. The sandalwood seems to help keep it grounded and gives it a woodsy feel without overpowering.

    Eldritch Dark

This is dark, sweet, and sexy. On first application it SCREAMS sweet leather. As it mellows out, it becomes a very soft musky, sweetly honeyed leather. I don't really smell the rose, which is a little sad. Fresh, this bottle is nice and wearable. Hopefully with a bit of age it'll really come into it's own.

    Al Azif

The oil is a pale yellow color. There is a resin/wood mix going on. It's kind of soft, just a bare hint of sweetness. It is not over powering at all as some resin's can be on me. I think I get a bit of amber and a soft light wood of some kind. Nice but not sure it's something I'd crave.
