Such a beautiful, warm blend. Upon initial application i get a sort of citrus-y feel that quickly morphs into an incense/woods mixture. The wood notes in this are so gorgeous! They don't turn to nasty pickle-juice-and-pencil-shavings on me, which is a big WIN! The first hour or two i get a mix of the warm wood notes and a scent that reminds me of this awesome incense i used to buy. After the first couple of hours pass i have warm (almost fuzzy smelling, if that makes sense) beeswax with soft herbal incense wafting over it. Just so amazing! And utterly unique. I've smelled nothing like it, and i am so drawn to it!

    Stinky

I think honey may not be a WIN note on me, unfortunately. I wanted so badly to love this one, but it just smells funky on me. Sharp and sweet at the same time, not really powdery at all, which was actually what i expected. Ah well, win some, lose some.
  3. I'm probably in the minority, but for me #1 goes to Cottonmouth, it has the most amazing dry down. #2 for me would be Boomslang, although i don't get much chocolate in the dry down. It's like a stronger, longer lasting Snake Oil on me. #3 would be Green Tree Viper, it's nice and refreshing, but it does fade very quickly on me. Temple Viper was just too much incense for me, i only sniffed it. Death Adder just doesn't seem to get past the Whoa Vetiver stage on my skin, it is sooooo smoky (too much so for me). Still need to try Austrailian Copperhead, Habu, Saw Scaled Viper, Banded Sea Snake, Western Diamondback, Asp Viper, and King Cobra. Of the remaining snakes i'm most drawn to Austrailian Copperhead and Habu.

    Intrigue

Wet on skin: Whoa, pickle juice....really? Ten minutes later......um....going back and forth between pencil shavings and pickle juice. I can smell a hint of something more pleasant under the woods that are going horribly wrong on me, but i can't get past them. Ahhh well.

    Ashlultum

Lemme say it again. This is just a gorgeous floral musk blend! On my skin I primarily smell the light musk and lilacs, but there is a hint of coconut in the beginning, and as it dries the vanilla tea dances in to add a gentle sweetness beneath the musk and lilacs. Once dry i truly don't get much of the coconut. I don't know that my amateur sniffer really picks up the tobacco and hyssop, but i'm sure they add to the blend in some subtle way. I absolutely love how feminine and fresh this blend is.

    Inez

Can't believe i haven't reviewed Inez yet! One of my favorite blends so far. Smooth, warm, and completely snuggle worthy! On me this is primarily a amber and vanilla musk with a hint of spicyness that i guess comes from the carnation? It is really lovely, and i can see myself wearing this a LOT as the weather cools.

    The Torture Queen

Love Torture Queen! The chrome, tea, and vanilla musk are strongest on me upon application. Such a very fresh, clean scent. I agree with those who said it is a very "white" smell. As it dries down the chrome softens a bit, and i get more of the vanilla musk and maybe a hint of light florals. Overall this is definitely a favorite for me this time of year. It doesn't become overwhelming or cloying in the heat, a big WIN!

    CCNow or PayPal

You don't need to worry about it being processed. The only problem with doing it that way is that the lab gets hit twice with fees - from CCNow and from Paypal. I'm glad to know for next time, i just wish i had paid more attention and gotten it right the first time! Thanks for the response, i'm glad to know my new preciouses will still be coming to live with me!

    CCNow or PayPal

Oh shoot! I totally missed the whole "if you're paying via paypal don't use ccnow" thing, i used CCnow and the PP option. I feel awful if that means they're getting charged double fees! This was my first order direct from the lab, and i hadn't looked at the FAQs regarding ordering. I hope my order is still processed!

    Cottonmouth

I am absolutely in with Cottonmouth! While wet the florals put me in mind of clean, crisp cotton sheets. One floral note does not seem to overpower any other on my skin. Immediately upon application i definitely get the clean white florals, and dancing amonst them is the refreshing zing of Snake Oil spices. Absolutely gorgeous! And it only gets more beautiful as it dries down. For anyone wondering, this does not dry down to plain ole snake oil (at least on me it doesn't). The dry down is soft, cotton-y white blossoms over the smooth creaminess of Snake Oil's vanilla, with just the softest hint of spices wafting through the silky smooth florals. And on me this one lasts a VERY long time. I put it on last night before bed and i can still (12 hours later) smell it on my wrists. I'd say the throw is moderate, not in the least overpowering. This is for sure top ten material for me. I will definitely be buying back-up bottles!

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Okay. I really like the soft scent of real, fresh roses. I do not like old fashioned rose oil, as it is too strong. I've tried a couple of rose scents (Black Rose, Persephone) and i amped the rose all to heck. I got zero pomegranate from Persephone, just overwhelming, headache inducing rose. So what i'm wondering is this: Is BPAL's white rose note a lighter, less intrusive rose. I want a blend that has a rose element, but that isn't OMGROSE. I ask because Last Rose of Summer has me very, very intrigued, but it's rose.....

    L'Estate

I'm still a BPAL bebe, but i'll try.... Creamy vanilla-amber, warm, soft musk, and lilies (i think, lol.) This makes me think of a sun filled meadow, teaming with buzzing bumblebees, the heady-scent of sun-warmed lilies, and skin scented with a creamy-vanilla freshness. Hubby walked over to me and said, "Gah, you smell Good! I like this one! I want to eat you up!" Yeah, L'Estate is made of WIN!

What do bottles and labels look like?

I LOVE the Stinky label, too cute, and awesome story to go with it And the Convergence labels are great, i love the vintage map style!

    Lilith Victoria

Just got this out of the mail box and all i get in the bottle is WHOA LAVENDER! On the skin it softens pretty quickly though and i can definitely smell sweet vanilla (must be from the snake oil, can't say for certain since i've not tried it :-0 ). I think this will definitely work better on me than Dorian. And i also tried it over the Antique Lace on my wrists, which worked out quite nicely!

    Xiuhtecuhtli

I'll start by saying this is only my third review, so please keep that in mind I received an imp of this as an extra in a lovely forum purchase. Can't thank Lili enough for introducing me to my new favorite! I have read the comparisons between this and TM Angel. I can definitely see the similarity, but i LOVE Xiuhtecuhtli ever so much more! I find Angel a bit too heavy to wear this time of year. With Xiuhtecuhtli i get a somewhat lighter, cleaner feeling (perhaps by virtue of the citrus?) that has me sniffing myself all day long. And it lasts! The dry down is softer, and sweeter, the orange is mostly gone, but i still LOVE what remains. My hubby has been following me around since i got the imp a couple of days ago and started wearing this, just happily sniffing me and saying, "You smell so good!". Wanna know the funny thing? Prior to trying this i had a very strong aversion to anything that listed "incense" in the notes. I think i associate incense with the cheap stinky stuff from the head shop. But this is most definitely not that kind of incense. Absolutely DIVINE. I want to bathe in this! In all seriousness i've been dabbing a bit into my hair so that when i move my head i catch these lovely drifting waves of scent.
  16. Recently received Xiuhtecuhtli as a frimp with a forum purchase and i LOVE it. Never would've guessed from the notes that it would be in a similar family to TM Angel, which i also really like, but Xiuhtecuhtli is BETTER! Something about the cleaner, slightly lighter feeling of Xiuhtecuhtli makes it just gorgeous and PERFECT! So, since i love Xiuhtecuhtli, are their other oils that are in the same family that i should try?

    10ml bottles...Where did they go?

Too bad 10ml no longer exist! I think i need 10ml of Xiuhtecuhtli! And quite possibly of Antique Lace and Dorian as well!

    Gennivre, L’Artiste du Diable

This reminds me quite a lot of Jasmine Green Tea i buy from the asian super market. One of my favorite teas, and certainly a lovely scent. Because of the floral feeling (my nose is telling me Jasmine, but from the notes i'm guessing it's the Orange Blossom). And i'm definitely picking up the light sweetness of the honey. This one is PERFECT for summer. The tea is refreshing, the floral note is light and playful, the honey adds a beautiful sweetness that is soft enough for summer. I've already purchased a bottle as i only had an imp to test at first. Thanks so much to my pal Scrangie who sent me the imp and got me hooked on BPAL!

    Velvet Pink Kitty

I'm going to make my first attempt at a review. I'm very new to BPAL, so please take this one worth a grain of salt A lovely friend sent me quite a few imps to try, and this was the first one i tried because, having read the reviews, i was very curious. From the description i thought surely it would be too sweet for me, i was afraid it would make me smell like fake strawberry candy. Thankfully that did not happen. I'm no good yet at picking individual notes. In the imp i do get a slight boozy quality, but once it hits my skin i really only get a bit of effervescence, no real "booze" smell. I consider this a VERY good thing since i have no interest in smelling like an empty pomegranate martini glass. Almost immediately this becomes a warm "pink" scent (i suppose that's the strawberries, but again i'm no good at notes). It is sweet, but not at all cloying on me. While wet, i do get a pleasant sharpness that is most likely the booze, but it doesn't make me think booze really. It's just enough to mellow out the sweetness. Once dry it is all smooth, warm, creamy, pinkness. I have already searched out a bottle, that's how much i love it. I'm a bit sad it seems to have very little throw for me, but it does wear reasonably well.

    Where is this scent?

I feel like an idiot asking this, but can anyone assist me in finding the reviews (if they exist) for L'Estate? I've searched through so many threads, and tried the search engine many times, and can not seem to find it anywhere! Any help is greatly appreciated

    Where is this scent?

Go to the lab announcement page here and click on the thread about Strawberry Moon being live here. Go halfway down the page, above the picture of the tee, to the words "over here" and click on the link. You can also subscribe to the lab announcements and the link will also be in your email message. Welcome to the forum and enjoy! You rock! Thanks so much

    Where is this scent?

Am new to BPAL and the forum. I've been working on putting together my very first order. I came across a fragrance in the LE Reviews section listed as "Forum Only" (Lilith and Jarocho). The fragrance sounds absolutely lovely, and i've been trying to find it so i can purchase it, but can't find it anywhere! Please help
