  1. I have never done well with the lab's pumpkin. My brain registers it as this fake buttered popcorn lip gloss my best friend used to slather in middle school. But I have been hearing how this year's pumpkin was a different pumpkin. A more natural and fresh pumpkin so I was excited.

As soon as I removed the cap, CHEESE. I wanted the lid back on immediately but I decided to persevere and pray the dry down was better. It was not.

Socks. Dirty unwashed, not bathed in a month socks. Soaked in the foulest cheese from the ass crack of satan and left in the yard to rot.
I think I need a moment *stares into the distance*
I now long for the buttered popcorn lip gloss of pumpkins past.

  2. Bananas. The whiskey for some reason smells like really intense banana bread to my brain. WAT. As it dries the bananas thankfully disappear to reveal a smooth musky tobacco with a bit of a bite. The whiskey isn't in your face as usual but hanging lightly in the back ground. It's a bit fuzzy feeling probably from the bear musk.

  3. Disclaimer: I absolutely loathe black licorice with the passion of a thousand suns. Nothing ever makes it tolerable. I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought this decant.

That being sad I'm in love. It's so well blended I don't even notice it. I can smell a smooth smokey leather. If I really concentrate I catch just the barest hint of the licorice but it just deepens and spices the leather. It almost has a slight foody quality at first, but that quickly goes away and gives into a dusty spice.

  4. I smell the cocoa and something kind of sour/bitter that my brain is registering as old banana peels. There's definitely a musty old fruit thing going on here. Then there's something that reminds me of stamp glue. I don't know what's happening here. About 20 minutes later something resiny appears but I'm afraid the musty fruit is still there.

  5. Did I even get the same perfume? I am getting a strong black licorice with lilac and something that makes me think of pee :c I am not getting any leather at all. There's also something sickeningly sweet in here. I'd like to note I am not skin testing since my skin is actually allergic to perfume. I test on strips of paper.

  6. I could almost swear I am smelling a Lick It. I am getting a creamy vanilla mint with the barest hint of pine needles and berries. As it dries the pine and berries come forward just a little. I can feel the coolness from the ozone but it stays in check.

  7. There are a few off the top of my head that remind me of art supplies.

Well for Charcoal Smokestack is great. Creosote, coal, and industrial waste.

For Oil Paint I find Wanda smells strongly of it to me.

There's also the Orgy from last year's Pickman Gallery: A dissolute fougere with wet honey musk, distilled spirits, rose water, white lead powder, Venetian ceruse, and Spanish leather beauty marks stained with port wine. Definitely smells of lead paint to me.

  8. This might just be my favorite Lunacy ever. It's all crisp red leaves all the time. As it dries down the red rose peeks it's head out. It's not a heavy rose, it almost feels like a tea rose. There's a hint of powder I associate with tea roses, yet it's still distinctly red rose. The leaves are still the star of the show though.

  9. This is not what I was expecting at all. I was hoping for a crisp fresh pumpkin what I got was foody. For once it didn't turn into buttered popcorn lip gloss like most pumpkin blends.

It smells light pumpkin pie filling and there's a hint of crust. There's a noticeable dash of cinnamon in there but it's not overwhelming. I don't get any beeswax at all. Just fresh pumpkin pie.

  10. I'm getting crisp dry leaves and a hint of maple smoke. The maple has almost a gritty sugar quality to it, making the blend almost feel crunchy. Then the smell of green branches comes in and there's a coolness. The leaves are still the dominant note though and they seem to be the same type from Sonnet D'Automne.

  11. Brom Bones is magical. I could roll in it.

Haute Macabre was horrible on me. The leather note was so good but I couldn't get over the cherry cough syrup my brain registers almond as.

Whip is actually my most favorite scent after Loviatar. I have 6 bottles and a ton of imps stashed away. But you'd have to like rose. It's no sissy rose like most rose notes. It punches you in the face. It's the only rose I want in my bpals.

  12. Ooo gurl you're in my territory now, leather is my jam :P Rich and dirty you say?

You definitely need to try Iago then. Sinuous black musk, wet leather and vetiver. If you like Western Diamondback this is about the closest GC to it.

Orc- Field grey courgette musk, roughly cured leather, and vetiver.

Fighter- Leather, musk, blood, and steel.

Rogue- Soft, well-worn black leather, hemp, and rosin.

Cyborg- Gleaming metal and black leather over a khus-darkened bay rum.

    Obligatory leather suggestions:

The Bow & Crown of Conquest- sage, carnation and cedar with lavender, vanilla, white musk and leather.

The Black Rider- Black leather, oppoponax, tobacco, and black amber.

Perversion- Smoky rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and deceptively magnetic base of tonka.

Dragon's Hide- Flame-kissed, warm, smooth, and highly protective. Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke.

Crowley- Infernal musk, red patchouli, lilac cologne, mahogany, lemon rind, oakmoss, leather, and vanilla husk.

Nanny Ashtoreth- Middle Eastern flowers, amber, honey, blood red-berries, whip leather, and polished paddle wood.

These have come back a couple times/ up on etsy/ out recently so they're possible to find:

Krampus- Sinister red musk, black leather, dusty rags, and wooden switches

Olisbos- polished wood, well-loved leather, and olive oil.

The Bloody Sword- dragon's blood, myrrh, black pepper, labdanum, benzoin, leather, fire, and steel

In His Hands all Thy Cruelties Thrive- Gleaming black vetiver, bay laurel, opoponax, hiba wood, Spanish moss, clove, and leather accord.

    For when the Carnival returns:

Western Diamondback- Snake Oil with leather, tonka bean, red sandalwood, and sage.

Shrunken Heads- Leather tanned with the pulp of Amazon ferns and rainforest herbs.

  13. Disclaimer: My skin is actually allergic to perfumes so I test on cotton in my scent locket or on paper strips.

When first applied it's all lovely smooth frankincense. I don't notice much vanilla here just frankincense, there's a bit of a fluffiness to it though. As it dries it begins to get a lovely smokey wood edge to it, very reminiscent of St.John's eve. There's also something that registers as fuzzy, dry brown leaves to my nose. It's like when you get a whiff of wood smoke on the wind in autumn.

  14. I've been thinking about this for a while, I've been wondering if anyone would be interested in an Autumn/Halloween themed box swap. Like decorate a box for imp/bottle storage and swap them. There's a chain of dollar stores in Canada that have cheap wooden boxes that would be perfect.

That sounds cool! What would the box dimensions be?

I haven't thought of that, Whatever people would be comfortable mailing. Going by the boxes I've already gotten for my personal collection... My smallest is W 4 x L 6.75 x H 3.5 inches, and that holds between 15-20 bottles depending how you arrange them. The larger solid boxes are 7.5 x, 7.5 x 3.75 and could probably do 40 bottles at least. There's also the option of doing a mini box swap. We could do tiny imp boxes. Many dollar/craft stores have tiny 3 inch boxes what would be perfect. And with Halloween coming there's also the tiny wooden coffins that tend to appear.

  16. My usual summer scents:

Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues

    A Blade of Grass

    Sundew

    Croquet

    Cheshire Cat

    Severin

    Theodosius the Legerdemain

    Medical Procedure

    F5

    The Sound of insects

    King Mandarin SN

    Black Opal

    The Miller's Daughter

I tend to like really fresh, juicy, and green scents or really soft and light scents. Particularly teas and citrus. It tends to get really hot here, last year we had more than one week around 45-47C. So I avoid anything super sugary sweet.

  17. This is a big blast of pure almond, which my nose always registers as marachino cherries for some reason, and it stays that way for quite a while. About 20 minutes later it changes completely. The olive oil starts to creep in and morphs it into a nice beeswaxy smell. It's the smell you have after a black taper candle has burnt out. I quite like it, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to wait out the cherry smell to get it.

  18. Right off the bat I get a strong honeyed red musk and something incensey. Then the patchouli starts to peek out and blends nicely. It's a dry patchouli and it tempers the sweetness just a little. To me this starts to smell identical to The Infernal Lover with added patchouli. I can tell this is going to age beautifully.
