  1. This is just exquisite...it's a very deep, silky purple, very evocative of evening and mystery. The jasmine and violet are prominent, but the incense and fruit prevent them from being overwhelming. It is very well blended and just gorgeous. Definite big bottle purchase. :P

  2. My chemistry is really being wacky with this one, although in a strangely pleasant way. In the imp I get an incensey kind of scent. However, on the skin it becomes...amber. Honestly, it smells like Blood Amber to me! Weirdness. After it dries down the flowers come out a bit to play and it gets more earthy, but the amber is still there. I don't know if the notes are combining into some kind of amber-like equivalent or what's going on. But anyway, it is a lovely floral-amber-earthy scent on me and I am very impressed, despite my inexplicable chemistry! :P

  3. In the imp, this smells like dark and murky water. Upon application, it reminded me of a river or a harbour...not the sparkling aquatic smell of the beach, but something far more dark. Really nice, though. It is pretty much the same to me as it dries down as upon initial application. I really like it, but I probably prefer beachy aquatic scents. However, I have been very impressed with Beth's aquatic notes, she manages to infuse them with so much variety, but they have all been really wonderful.

  4. The first thing I thought of when I smelt this was 'it smells like a hotel room'. You know that smell you get when you first open the door on a hotel room? It smelt like that. I have no idea why.

Anyway, it is all bitter frankincense on me...I wish I could smell cinnamon or violet, but I can't. It is very heavy and kinda overwhelming. Not my style - if only the violet would show up to play!

  5. This is an absolutely gorgeous, creamy and sweet rose blend on me, with carnation lurking in the background to give it a bit of spice. Going on, it is all honey, but as it dries down the rose comes out more and more. The milk note gives it an underlying creaminess without being in-your-face vanilla. Love this scent! It is girly and sweet and womanly all at once :P

  6. This was just a disaster on me. Horrible in the imp - a really strong smell of decay or something? No violet at all. And it just got stronger and worse on me. Can't seem to wash it off, either. Ack! And I know it's not the violet because I love violet in a whole bunch of other scents. Damn vetiver!

  7. In the imp and upon application, this had a really strong, kinda weird smell about it that I am guessing is the labdanum. However, as it dries down it becomes a beautiful orchid scent. The roses are there, but they are in the background for me. A lovely, soft, sad white floral.

  8. This was love-at-first-sniff with me. I get a sexy, musky white floral scent from this...it is pretty much the same on the skin as it is in the imp. Which is fine by me because it is lovely in the imp! Definitely suited to wearing on a hot summer's night...it is hard to describe but it just smells sultry and elegant to me. I can't really pick one note out because it is blended so well, but the jasmine is particularly nice in this blend. Must buy bottle for sure! :P

  9. This is a very bold, assertive floral/amber/musk scent that evokes an image of rich, dark purple for me. However, whilst it goes on strong, it doesn't last very long for me at all. Nevertheless, a lovely rich scent with a lot of interesting, well-blended notes.

  10. This would be fabulous on me if it weren't for the red wine. In the imp, it was cough syrup, which was disappointing. On the dry-down, the dragon's blood resin makes an appearance, and the rose is following faintly behind that, but the wine is beating them all down and making this scent very sweet and fruity on me. I really want the dragon's blood and rose to win this battle, but it seems that the wine is just too strong. Too fruity on me...love the resin + rose thing, though! It's just a bit too sweet for my tastes.

  11. This is a very lush, complex floral, with citrus giving it a bit of bite and preventing it from becoming too sweet. It is very well blended so no one note stands out, rather they just mesh together beautifully. It definitely evokes images of the city, and is very kinda decadent in its complexity. It is pretty much the same wet as it is dry on me. A definite big bottle for sure, this is lovely on me.

  12. At first, I really, really disliked this. It was all vanilla on me, and as usual, it was sickly sweet headache-inducing vanilla. But as it dried down, it got nicer and nicer, until it became a nice honeyed amber scent. Undecided as to whether I will get a bottle or not, but it's not the disaster I thought it was going to be. If only I got the scent that I get upon dry-down when wet.

  13. Oh wow, this is gorgeous!

Wet it is a sweet lotus/rose scent. Upon dry down, it becomes more and more aquatic, yet retains its sweetness. The lilies and rose become stronger on me, but the lotus is still there. This is soft, beautiful and feminine. Absolutely lovely - big bottle needed ASAP.

  14. Beautiful honeyed almonds on me. It's not too sweet at all, which was surprising, because my skin tends to turn sweet scents cloyingly sweet. But this was just perfect - a second skin scent, almost. Sexy and exotic without being overwhelming. Definitely a bottle purchase!

  15. Sadly, this is just sickly sweet vanilla on me...I don't get any peach or amber or anything else, really. Stooopid vanilla, always ruining scents for me :P It is exactly the same wet as dry for me, as well.

  16. This is a very dark, but sweet, scent. Really, really suits the name. It is verk dark red wine when it first goes on, but in the initial dry-down the myrrh comes out to play. The rose is the last element I got, but it makes this a very feminine, sultry, evil scent. It may be a little too incensey for me, but it sure is evocative. Still undecided on a bottle purchase, but am very impressed with this nonetheless.

  17. I get no coffee at all out of this, just roses and jasmine. Which is surprising, because I thought the food notes would be amped up by my skin, which loves to make foody notes sickly sweet. But this was just a nice, pretty floral on me. I like! :P

ETA: I don't just like this, I may just love it. Really nice, smooth floral. Big bottle purchase for sure!

  18. I really wanted to love Snake Oil. I really, really did. But it was just sickly sweet vanilla on me from start till finish. Very foody, and much too sweet. Not my thing at all. Back to the florals for me!
