    Sudha Segara

I'd have to agree with you. It is totally not what I was expecting, but it is WONDERFUL, nonetheless! I guess I was expecting something creamy like Dana O'Shee with ginger added in. With Sudha Segara, I am not getting any "creaminess" on me. Mostly just bright florals, something fresh and green and a little ginger. The first thing I thought of when I smelled it was Chanel Cristalle, for some reason--although I haven't smelled Cristalle in years. ETA: I adore this on drydown---the ginger is there, as are some flowers, but then I smell leather in the background. I'm definitely ordering a big bottle of this!

    Jack

Jack II... Wow, is all I can say! I had high hopes for this one, and it lived up to my expectations and then some! I am a lover of foody scents, and I think this is my holy grail of BPAL foody scents. In the vial: Smells like a rich, buttery pumpkin pie. Very desserty! Wet, on my skin: Smells like a rich, slightly spicy, creamy pumpkin cheesecake with something slightly fruity (peach?) in the background and stayed that way right through drydown. When I tested this one today and had my husband sniff me he growled, pretended to be the Big Bad Wolf and said "The better to eat you with, my dear!" What better reaction could I have wanted?

    Harvest Moon 2004

In the bottle: It smells kinda sweet, foody and autumnal. Wet, on my wrists: Sweet, but autumn flowers are in full bloom! On drydown: The sweetness/foodiness has gone away and I am left with lots of autumn blooms and a little smoke. It definitely evokes the colors of autumn--orange, brown and russet. I was hoping it would stay "foodier," but it is a nice, complex floral scent. If you like complex floral scents. I will update my review tomorrow when I use it exclusively. Right now I smell like the proverbial "french whore" with like 5 different BPALS on and Harvest Moon was only tested on my wrists. ETA: OK. Second try, and I am wearing Harvest Moon by itself, and I am standing by yesterday's assessment for the most part. The autumn flowers are still the primary note, but the grape and apple showed themselves a little more today, albeit briefly. The scent itself lasted about 5 hours, so it was pretty long lasting on me.

    Lolita Lempicka = which bpal?

According to scentiments.com, Lolita Lempicka has: "a liquorice accord comprising of aniseed, violet, vanilla and praline with a floral oriental harmony of ivy, iris, amarena, tonka bean, vetiver and musk makes it a rich fruity fragrance." I have not smelled Lolita Lempicka, so I can't be much help finding a "smell alike" for you. Hopefully someone else has and can help you out!
  5. I have gotten the most compliments about Embalming Fluid, of all things! I find it very amusing (and sometimes a bit embarrassing, depending on who's asking!) when people ask the name of the scent I'm wearing. My husband is crazy over Venom, however.

    Intrigue

Yes, I'd say this oil is very intriguing. In the vial and while wet I can smell the cocoa, fig and something smokey. Very complex and interesting. But something about my chemistry is making the cedar note come out WAY too much and all I am smelling on drydown is Eau de Hamster Cage.

    Cinnamon girl...

This is a perfect example of how chemistry effects the way an oil smells. Hellcat didn't smell AT ALL like cinnamon on me, and neither did The World! But they smelled like cinnamon on Andra. But Three Witches and Inferno SCREAMED cinnamon on me (which is a GREAT thing!), but didn't smell like cinnamon on Andra! We must have anti-chemistries, Andra!
  8. Lemony scents usually make me more clear-headed. So I vote for Embalming Fluid.

    Black Lotus

In the vial: Overpoweringly sweet, dark and cloying. Wet: Interesting...dark, sweet and a little unsettling. I am not getting the bubble-gummyness of the lotus that I got with Blood Lotus. And it's changing... On drydown: Well, drat. My weird chemistry turned this into Plasticene modeling compound and used motor oil!
  10. Scylla

    Blood Lotus

In the vial: Sweet, fruity and thick. I have my doubts. Wet: Fruity, sweet and bubble-gummy. My doubts are increasing. On drydown: The bubble-gummyness has gone away, but I'm left with a weird head-shoppy, resiny/incensey smell that I can't quite put my finger on. Just not my cup of tea.

    Cinnamon girl...

Of the cinnamon scents, I have only tried Three Witches and Inferno. Inferno caused the dreaded red welts on me, but they faded pretty fast. Unfortunately, so did the scent! I LOVE Three Witches, and so does my daughter! It totally smells like fall. If you're a cinnamon lover, you've got to try an imp of it. Trust me! ETA: Three Witches did NOT cause any burning sensations.

    Venom

Woo Hoo! Finally a BPAL oil that my husband absolutely LOVES! Some he hates (Zephyr), an others he is just "eh" about, but Venom really got a totally favorable reaction from him. I suspected it might...he always liked when I wore Poison, and some other forumites have compared Venom to Poison. I can definitely smell the note similarities: berries, opoponax, vanilla, honey. But there are also differences...which makes Venom even better, in my opinion. Yes, Venom is similar, but not in a "trying to be an exact copy" knock-off sort of way. It is on my next order list!

    Dragon's Milk

In the vial: Syrupy sweet and slightly spicy Wet: Sweet, spicy and maybe a little fruity. On drydown, still sweet and spicy, but now it is getting smokier and the vanilla is coming out. Wonderful! This is definitely going to be worn often this fall. I bought a 10 ml of this unsniffed, and it took me three tries to start loving this--to think I almost swapped it! Shame on me!

How long do bottles & imps last?

How long a bottle lasts depends on 1) how often you wear it, 2) how often you have to reapply and 3) how strong the fragrance is. For example, I have a bottle of Dana O'Shee that I have to reapply from LIBERALLY probably three times a day. But I also have a bottle of Water of Notre Dame that I just put a dab of on and it lasts all day and then some!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

That happened to me with Inferno, but not with Three Witches, oddly enough. I think it's the cinnamon.
  16. Scylla

    Inferno

In the vial: The bitter almond hits you like a brick wall! But I like it. Wet: The almond fades away almost immediately and I am left with a nice sweet cinnamon smell. Kinda like Big Red gum or Red Hots. On drydown: Well, it didn't really get to drydown. It faded away to nothingness within 5 minutes, no exaggeration! Must be my chemistry. *sigh* I will try it again in a few days. I was hopeful about this one because I liked the idea of almonds and cinnamon together, but I much prefer Three Witches as a cinnamon scent, plus--it's much longer lasting.

    Siren

In the vial: Does anyone remember Blammo gum? This stuff smells just like it at first! HYPER fruity! Wet: Um, unfortunately I am getting the same sharp "urinal cake" smell I got with Tamora. Must be the apricot--I think that's the only thing they have in common. Drydown: Better, but very sweet and kinda old lady/powdery. I'll give it another chance in a few days, but I'll probably be swapping it.

    Where is this scent?

You know that's a really good idea! It could be Jailbait ! I wonder! Beth DID say that that would smell like strawberry bubble gum, didn't she! Hmmmmm..... ETA: Nope, it's not Jailbait either. Or Blood Amber, Blood Lotus or Black Lotus. The mystery remains! And now you can make it your own--it's for sale!
  19. Scylla

    Where is this scent?

No, it's definitely not Dragon's Milk. Glitter is a good guess, but I don't smell any pear or white wine. It probably is one of the lotus containing oils, because it is always bubble-gummy at first. Maybe Blood Lotus? Who knows! All I know is, I have to get my hands on some more imps!
  20. Scylla

    Bewitched

In the vial: As someone else said, berrylicious! Wet: Berrylicious, with a hint of green herbs and perhaps some vanilla. It is sort of similar to Rosalind, but I like it better. Less green and more berry, I think. The color it evokes is a deep purple. On drydown, the berry scent fades a bit and the herbal accents come through. I am totally loving this! On my 5 ml list it goes!
  21. Scylla

    Where is this scent?

Just thought I'd update you following my saga: Hadaverde sent me an imp of Bewitched and I LOVE it! But it's not the mystery scent. And, as I said before, it's not Hollywood Babylon or Bon Vivant, either! So I guess I'm going to have to look at the lotus scents, as quantum spice recommended and order some more imps!
  22. I use Tylenol Sinus. I had a sinus headache when I woke up this morning, took two and now it's gone. Phew! When I was 19 I had a job that required me to stand pretty much in one place all day. It was awful, compounded by the fact that I was quite overweight! I tried MANY MANY different things for my aching feet and legs, and the thing that soothed them the best for me was soaking them in hot water with epsom salts. Luckily, I have never really had cramps. But a friend of mine suffered terribly and was prescribed Naprosyn (sp?) which is really Naproxen Sodium--now available over the counter as Aleve. It was what worked wonders for her!
  23. Scylla

    Hellcat

In the vial: I can definitely smell the sweetness of honey and rum. And in another way reminds me of Gluttony, but I like Gluttony much better. Maybe it's the buttercream note. The first time I tried this, I HATED it! At the time, I thought it smelled like burnt (phony) maple syrup and spices mixed with rum. Very sweet in a boozy, nausea inducing kinda way. Sorry, Beth! I didn't want to give it a second chance, but I did. And my impression is more favorable this time. Now it smells like the Autumn Harvest Yankee candle. A nice comforting scent, but not for wearing. Good for a room scent.
  24. Scylla

    Venus

In the vial and while wet, Venus smells a LOT like Water of Notre Dame, with the addition of rose and maybe some honey. On drydown, (on me, anyway) I detect the rose and honey more. But then it starts to smell quite a bit like a bar of Ivory soap! It makes me think of the colors purple or magenta. It is a very pretty, exceedingly feminine floral scent. But, alas, it's just not me. I can't do roses!
  25. Scylla

    Bon Vivant

In the vial: Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill wine / strawberry wine cooler Wet: Very, very strawberry, with the effervescence of the champagne notes twinkling in the background. Drydown: The champagne notes fade away pretty quickly and I am left with a synthetic strawberry smell. It's a nice scent, but I think it's too young for me. Like Red_Hot_Mama, I will probably pass this one down to my 6 year old daughter--she loved it!
