  1. Everybody's been talking about this, so I decided to jump on the bottle on Etsy. Opium tar and black orchid are the only things I'm unsure about. This is dark and herbaceous. No notes in particular really standing out to me. I can see this smelling amazing on the right person. Very mysterious and gothy.

ETA: Later in the evening, I think the black orchid finally did nice things with my chemistry. It smelled like the nice part of an expensive perfume. A slightly powdery floral that was very pleasing.

  2. I've admired this for a while, but I don't wear it often since it leans masculine because I amp the leather. Interestingly enough, far away my wrist smelly leathery, yet sweet and fruity. It's kinda like the patch and rum waft more easily than the leather. It's really enjoyable, even though it's leather-heavy on me.

  3. Wet and in the imp: it smelled really green and floral to me, which is why I avoided it.

Drydown: i began to smell the syrupy quality someone mentioned, but then it kept morphing. It's like it cycled through all the different scents, some overlapping with others. Nothing really standing out over the others. The vetiver is making this smell a bit darker and dirtier than I would have liked. Everything smells great together, but there's one note that makes a hard right-turn for me, and I'm pretty sure it's the vetiver. Could be the pine, but i doubt it.

Dry: The vetiver eventually calms down, but I'm impatient. It does end up smelling sweet and headshop-y. And yeah, Dr. Pepper actually feels kinda close, except without the bubbles. It still doesn't do much for me, though.

  4. Sweet, honeyed peach. The rose is in the background, and feels very minimal during drydown. It seems like the oud gives this a bit of woodiness. There's a slight powerderiness with my chemistry, which I'm sure is the amber. For someone who is wanting something super fruit-forward, I'd suggest testing it first. It is evocative of peach, but with all the other notes, I can see this disappointing some people. Overall, I'm sure the majority of people will love it, though.

I did try layering it over Daddy, but I don't have phenomenal feedback to report.

  5. I was hoping for something similar to Peach V, but this is not it. However, it's a lovely peach that lasts all day. With the musk, it's more adult than a super sweet peach that would feel adolescent. And luckily, the honey doesn't amp or overpower anything.

  6. Sweet clove candy. It goes away from overpowering candy, to a musky, pepper with clove. I'm pretty sure that's what pepper ends up doing on me. I can see warm, woody spices being a good descriptor for this.

ETA (trying 1.5 years later): This has aged nicely. It has less of a candy vibe to it now. While it's still sweet, the pepper adds a musky woodiness that stands out more. In waving it around, the pepper mimics carnation. This kinda feels like a geeky girl who wants to be like the bad girls who smoke clove cigarettes, but won't smoke cause they don't know how. *cough, cough* nothing I can personally relate to 😉 So, it ends up smelling like a smokeless version of clove cigarettes. I can see the clove cigarettes people disagreeing with me, though, so your mileage may vary. Oh, and I think I amp pepper.

Like clove, but not smoke? These Spirit Fingers are for you.

  7. This goes on strong. Minty toothpaste and slushy snow. Reminds me of Mentos! I don't think I ever pick up the green apple. After this has had a while to settle on my skin, it definitely morphs. The mint moves to the background, and there's this woodiness that comes out. It's not overpowering, and kinda smells like pencil shavings and candy. This is actually kinda wearable at this point. I'd say this is good for someone looking for a snowy, Christmassy mint, without a lot of the other fluff.

  8. I am not one for ambers, they go kinda perfumey on me. I grabbed this because of all the fruit, and it doesn’t disappoint. However, because of the ambers, cardamom, patch, it has a sort of creamy, musky quality. And there’s a depth that gives this a grownup edge, and doesn’t smell like a fruity scent for kids. This is light and dreamy. It doesn’t last long in my hair. I’m left with a slightly tangy peach-ish amber that is comforting to catch whiffs of. I definitely recommend this if you’re wanting something peachy that is evocative of Lupercalia and the Shungas.

  9. For the life of me, I cannot identify any of these individual scents. I'm at a loss for how to categorize this in my brain. An incensey floral is what comes to mind, but that doesn't seem accurate. It does remind me of Sunday morning, and getting ready for church with my grandmother. I guess the only thing similar between this and Chantilly Lace is oakmoss, so hmmmm.....

I would categorize this as a fresh, feminine, incensey floral, but only because my brain doesn't know what to do with juniper, myrrh, and patchouli together.

  10. This totally reminds me of a sunscreen lotion. There's a vague white floral and clean smell. It fades fairly quickly. I think my chemistry doesn't know what to do with this. It's pretty, but I can see it smelling a lot better on someone else.

  11. I decided to give this a shot since most people said the blackberry was the star. It goes on smelling very bready, with a sweet berry note hanging around it. I don't think I would immediately pick out gingerbread or blackberry frosting if I didn't know the notes. It does have the comforting smell of a coffeeshop baked good with some fruity frosting on it. But I guess I do the same thing with gingerbread, and turn it into incense. Silly chemistry. I'll try this in a locket next.

  12. Tried this on the husband. Wet: cologne and bay rum. Hubs says he gets a pickle note, same as from Hellboy. I didn't pick up any incense. Dry: it's still mostly cologne, but I can get the paper. Overall, not something for him, but Kroenen ended working on him.

  13. So weird! I tried this on my husband and myself. Husband immediately described it was "sweet pickles". I told him to give it a few minutes. On me, I could tell the aftershave was competing with the candy wrappers. This one did take a while to settle. On me, it just smells like generic aftershave. My dad wore Old Spice forever, so I don't think it's that. Nor is it English Leather. It's another popular one, and the baby powder smell is accurate. On the husband, he gets more of a baby powder cologne. So, neither of us get the hints of candy, chocolate, or cats. Too bad.

  14. I smell like BBQ! Reading all the reviews, I was expecting a smokey vanilla. I guess I amp whatever the floral vanilla is, and it just goes sweet. I ended up smelling like honey BBQ sauce! It mellows slightly into a smokey leather, but still getting an overall BBQ vibe. I hope someone else can love this since it doesn't work on me.
