For the life of me, I cannot identify any of these individual scents. I'm at a loss for how to categorize this in my brain. An incensey floral is what comes to mind, but that doesn't seem accurate. It does remind me of Sunday morning, and getting ready for church with my grandmother. I guess the only thing similar between this and Chantilly Lace is oakmoss, so hmmmm..... I would categorize this as a fresh, feminine, incensey floral, but only because my brain doesn't know what to do with juniper, myrrh, and patchouli together.

    Oberon

This totally reminds me of a sunscreen lotion. There's a vague white floral and clean smell. It fades fairly quickly. I think my chemistry doesn't know what to do with this. It's pretty, but I can see it smelling a lot better on someone else.

I decided to give this a shot since most people said the blackberry was the star. It goes on smelling very bready, with a sweet berry note hanging around it. I don't think I would immediately pick out gingerbread or blackberry frosting if I didn't know the notes. It does have the comforting smell of a coffeeshop baked good with some fruity frosting on it. But I guess I do the same thing with gingerbread, and turn it into incense. Silly chemistry. I'll try this in a locket next.

    Couple Enjoying a Summer Breeze

I ended up turning this into an atmo spray, and I love it. Lunasariel nails what it ends up doing as a spray. I think it works well in this medium since the sage is sharp.

Tried this on the husband. Wet: cologne and bay rum. Hubs says he gets a pickle note, same as from Hellboy. I didn't pick up any incense. Dry: it's still mostly cologne, but I can get the paper. Overall, not something for him, but Kroenen ended working on him.

    Hellboy

So weird! I tried this on my husband and myself. Husband immediately described it was "sweet pickles". I told him to give it a few minutes. On me, I could tell the aftershave was competing with the candy wrappers. This one did take a while to settle. On me, it just smells like generic aftershave. My dad wore Old Spice forever, so I don't think it's that. Nor is it English Leather. It's another popular one, and the baby powder smell is accurate. On the husband, he gets more of a baby powder cologne. So, neither of us get the hints of candy, chocolate, or cats. Too bad.

I smell like BBQ! Reading all the reviews, I was expecting a smokey vanilla. I guess I amp whatever the floral vanilla is, and it just goes sweet. I ended up smelling like honey BBQ sauce! It mellows slightly into a smokey leather, but still getting an overall BBQ vibe. I hope someone else can love this since it doesn't work on me.

    The Osiris Club Atmosphere Spray

This is a dude's atmo spray. There's a tiny bit of overlap with Hellbeard since they both have bourbon and gunpowder, but the men's cologne is what stands out. The pipe tobacco is slightly there, but doesn't stick around long. The description is pretty apt about the sort of atmosphere it creates.

I'm so glad I finally got to try this. I tried it on both myself and husband. I think I amped the juniper a bit more, so this smells like aquatic laundry on me. It's nice and wearable, very unisex. On the husband, it smells saltier, and more on the soapy side of being aquatic. In both cases, it's not overpowering or too heady. Actually, kinda sexy for an aquatic. Definitely worth trying.

    Hellbeard Beard Oil

I was worried this would smell really heavy, resiny, and dark. For tobacco lovers, it falls right in line, with a masculine edge that's the right amount of dark. Husband describes it as sexy musk and tobacco. The musk is on the softer side, almost sweet. Gunpowder is hardly recognizable. This is great for guys that want to smell masculine without all the gross cologne smells usually associated with typical men's cologne. In his words, "This went on smelling like a dangerous dude, but has dried down to nice dude." As for application, he put a couple drops in his hands, and rubbed them around. For 30 mins, if I ran my hands through his beard, I could feel a tiny bit of oil, but it was hardly noticeable. Typical residue if you left a leave-on conditioner in. Overall, I think this is a hit! He's a big fan, and I can see us getting another bottle, and being willing to try some of the others.

The Standing Stone at Pendle Hill Atmosphere Spray

Herbal, but more on the mint side. Salt air and a bit of wood. I don't pick up any incense or fire, which I'm happy about. This smells a lot more fresh and clean than the description lets you imagine. It reminds me of camping in a wood cabin in the summer, with some lightly salty and herbal spray available afterwards. The description is more grave than the actual spray. It's nice, we're happy to have it. It's definitely not feminine, either, definitely leans more unisex. If some dudes wanted something fresh for their place, this is a great alternative.
  12. Wow, that's quite a range to start of with. But, super helpful. Eat Me, IIRC, has a vanilla note that might turn plastic with your skin chemistry. Snake Oil is also one of those that people either love or hate, especially between aged or new. As for SS Rose Mallow Cream, at least you know you enjoy rose, but can get sick of it, so that opens a lot of stuff to try. I would love to send you some imps, if you don't mind. I have a ton, and I'm always looking to help newbies try new stuff. Message me if you're interested. Immediately what comes to mind is Cocoa Pink since the majority of her scent catalog leans towards the gourmand side. And I really adore Solstice Scents for their fruitier stuff. Do you know if you like any fruity stuff? I like BPAL for strawberry stuff, but SS for blueberry. And her Violet Mallow is amazing. Not too foody or floral (same with Rose Lime Kulfi and Cardamom Rose Sugar). And I recommend Nocturne Alchemy for vanilla or musky vanilla. Oh, and for white florals, I recommend BPAL for Snow White. It's an LE, but gets re-released each year. Another good one is Long Moon Night. If you're trying to find suggestions for BPAL General Catalog (always available), I would specify that. Mouse's Long and Sad Tale is easy to like, too!

    Oblivion

Wet: Patchouli was the first thing I picked out. The spice and saffron definitely joined in after a while. Dry: The patchouli faded to the background. I think the labdanum gives it a weird edge, but it's still mostly sweet wood and spices, with the musk giving it a slightly sexy vibe. It is comforting in an odd sort of way.

    Queen

Wow, this seems to be all over the place for everyone. I'm getting the sweet, slightly sickening ylang ylang, baby powder, amber? It's nice, but it's not my style.

    Ganeida

Well, what do you know? So far, this is my favorite! This is like the clean laundry version of Aegir. Like salty lavender, which isn't overpowering. I totally dig this. Throw wasn't too overpowering for me, and it dried down to something reasonable pretty quickly. I think lavender fans would appreciate something a little different, and laundry lovers might appreciate something more subtle.

This one is tricky. And I don't mean a morpher, I mean pinpointing specific elements. I will say that I'm surprised by the wear time which lasted less than 4 hours. Maybe my skin ate up the tea? This is sweet and clean, and I'm straining to smell any musk. Not too much of any one element. I wish I had something I could liken this to, but I don't have much in my collection since I usually steer clear of amber and white tea. It doesn't have the acidity of tea, or the oversweetness of amber. I wouldn't even say this is floral, but I do pick out an element of "green", which I guess is the clover. I definitely would recommend getting a tester of this if you're unsure if this would work for you.

    Nimue the Blood Queen

Dark and plummy. The oud in this doesn't stink! The smoky brings the depth to the purple, and I think the incense rounds it out, and isn't overpowering. All together, they end up smelling like a fancy, expensive perfume on me, though. I guess the plum, cherry, and musk work together to be too sweet for me. Wear length for me lasted about 4 hours, otherwise I had to get in close to smell it.

    The Complaint of Daphnis

Soapy and floral are pretty apt. I didn't pick out any leather. I swapped this away pretty quickly.

    Midway Plaisance Atmosphere Spray

I am a huge fan of B&BW Summer Boardwalk scent. I got this in hopes it was similar, and it is! Sweet, nutty, and popcorn. Very fun, evocative scent.

    Birdsong at Twilight Hair Gloss

I get peach and patchouli. I suppose the amber and citrus could be working together to make things peachy. This is super pretty. I wouldn't recommend it for tobacco or citrus lovers, but fruity + patchouli lovers.
  22. torikitty

    Hellfire

I got this for me for the tobacco. It didn't smell much of tobacco, so I let my husband try it. It smells nice, but it's just a tad too sweet on him. On him, I get the leather and musk, and I think the ambergris is sweetening it up. It's really pretty, but it's just not a scent either of us would wear.

    Belle Vinu

I'm glad I finally got to try this! The rosewood is definitely apparent, with something powdery hanging out around the edges. I would guess the osmanthus. The sandalwood and peach are in the background, but I wouldn't be able to pick them out if I didn't know they were there. It's not quite as nuanced on me as some other people found it to be, and I'm ok with that. It's nice to finally have a somewhat straightforward rosewood scent.

    The Perfect Lavender

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestion or combo suggestions for recreating Aegir. Lucchesa describes it as a "languid lavender", and maybe the lavender lovers know of something similar?
