    San Cristóbal de la Habana

I feel like I can smell each of the elements, which is nice. And they blend together really well. This feels like a good spring/summer nighttime scent for going to an outdoor party. It's not terribly heavy on the tobacco, which is why I'm giving it up.

    COVFEFE

Orange, marshmallows, and pepper. It starts out sweet, then gets spicy, then smells like a melted orangesicle left out in the sun. It's nice, sticks close to the skin, but not something I grab very often.

    Coral Snake (2016)

I've had this for a while, and was hoping that a bit of aging would bring some of the notes out more. While this smells lovely, it's very faint on me. I get apple with a pinch of Snake Oil, with a background of something tropical. I guess that's the plumeria. It smells great, but it's not loud enough for me. And I think my skin sucks it up only hours later.

Woman Dragging Her Aroused Lover Across a Bridge

Jenjin is dead-on. Unfortunately, it's too sweet for me, at least for wearing as perfume. I think it would be good as soap, though.

    Emerald Lace

I hate to be the first one to dislike this, but skin chemistry is what it is. It’s like overly-sweet, pungent Irish-Spring qualities. It’s either the cognac or the rue that I’m not enjoying. It’s like old lady perfume mixed with some in-your-face generic green men’s cologne. Off to swaps.

    413 U.S. 15 / Miller Vs. California

Leather, cognac, fig, ripe berry, and cream, stuffed into a plain brown paper bag. Like everyone else, the notes sounded amazing, so I blind-bottled. I guess the cognac goes pungent on my skin, and while it's not vinegary, it goes kinda piney and overly sweet. Like, overripe fruit. I'll let this age for a bit and see if it gets any better.

    Bad Luck Woman Blues

So glad I snagged a bottle from Etsy. I was worried that it would be more masculine, but the tobacco amps on me, and seems to be sweetened with herbs. Super smooth. Smells expensive and powerful. I can see this smelling good on both sexes. Love this!

A View of Cascading Cherry Blossoms

In the bottle: smells dead-on VS Love Spell Wet: Strawberry is stronger. Definitely sweet, candy, girly. Drydown: strawberry and cherry blossoms. Reminds me of a strawberry version of the L'Occitane Cherry Blossom lotion. Yum! Dry: no difference

    Fortuna Mala

Fickle Fortune A hymn to propitiate the gods of misfortune and honor the balance of forces in the universe: vetiver, patchouli, and black clove. I'm surprised more clove lovers didn't jump on this one. The vetiver makes it dry and dark, with the patchouli adding a hint of sex appeal. Man, this lasts really long, too. Really decent throw, too. A little really goes a long way. I'm on the fence because this feels like it sits perfectly between masculine and feminine. I could say unisex, but I don't think it's as clean as the typical unisex fragrances. I'd say that, depending on your mood for the day, and what you wear, you could push this in either direction. I can also see this being a nice base to mix other things with. I put a sweet lotion over top, and that smelled great!

The Waters of the Well of Wisdom

Medicinal thyme on me. I can see aquatic in the background, but the mugwort or mayweed is exceptionally sharp, like a clean, alcoholic minty herb. Still refreshing, love the thyme, but can't do the medicinal part of it.
  11. In the ongoing struggle to find a Lord of Misrule bpal comparison: So, I gave Sin + Avenger a shot. It's not far off. It's just a tad bitter, and more floral than green from LoM. I'd say it's a decent comparison if you put Avenger first, and Sin on top. It's still missing a bit of the sweetness, I might play around with this a bit more.
  12. Fortuna Conservatrix from Hymn to Fortuna really reminds me of LoM! The notes are: black peppercorn, bitter almond, patchouli, and benzoin. It's LE, but just testing it today, it matches the shower gel. I wouldn't agree. The spiciness of the black pepper stands out way more than the patchouli. It's definitely got a drier edge to it, whereas LoM has a sweeter patchouli side with a hint of green.

A Savage Veil, Severe and Strong

I agree with the first poster, this ends up more floral than expected. The plum isn't as apparent as it is in other dark fruit blends, nor as sweet. The patchouli and the nutmeg do this weird dance of floral vs. spicy. The tobacco comes out and adds some peppery notes. Overall, spicy, peppery, and dry.

    Blue, Bloody Supermoon: Lunar Eclipse

Starts out minty and herbaceous. Sweet fruits start to poke their heads out. It is very confusing. Then the comforting sage and tea make things seem sleepy? I can see this being a good scent to go to bed with. Who knew that something with a name like this would be this mellow? I still can't pick out individual notes during drydown. I wouldn't expect juniper or tobacco to really pop out for those of you drawn to those notes. I think the musks end up being too sweet for me to enjoy it.

    Snaky-Hair’d Moirai Many-Form’d

I was excited about this one, too. Sadly, I amp the incense, and that's it! No tobacco, and none of the other notes are particular favorites to save it. Off to swaps!

    Aegir

I surprisingly love this. I'm not an aquatics person, nor lavender for daily wear. However, the saltiness tames the medicinal side of the lavender. I still don't understand how these scents work together. I wish I had of bought a backup bottle!

    Tobacco scents

Fortuna Annonaria and Fortuna Redux definitely meet the requirements.

    Vasilissa

Creamy skin musk. Amber and myrrh are obvious, but the jasmine is not. Really lovely if you feeling like something pale, sweet, and feminine.
  19. Just tried Avenger since I bought it a while ago, before even knowing about LoM. I can definitely see the comparison. The pepper and patchouli are present, but the clove, pikaki, and amber bring a sweetness you don't get from LoM. If you wanted a more feminine version of LoM, this would be it. For me, the tuberose gets amped just enough that I get it screeching over the rest of the lovely scents. Just a tad too floral for me.

    Fortuna Annonaria

For a tobacco lover, this was my favorite from this collection. The tobacco is sweetened up by the patchouli, it almost smells like something you could chew on. I guess that's thanks to the licorice. Thanks to the licorice root, this almost smells like something you could eat. It mostly reminds me of sweet tobacco. I'm definitely going to need a whole bottle!

    Fortuna Muliebris

I get lavender sweetened with a bit of fruity wine.
  22. torikitty

    Fortuna Obsequens

I wish I picked up the same notes. I mostly get just rose with a hint of red musk in the background. Still too heady for me to enjoy.
  23. torikitty

    Fortuna Conservatrix

I get the peppercorn first and foremost. It's sweetened up slightly by the patchouli, but leans more masculine on me. It smells awesome on my husband. He seems to amp the pepper and patchouli, which smells great on him!

    Fortuna Populi Romani

Initially, it comes off smelling like incense, the things you associate with a headshop. As it dries, it gets sweeter, with the vanilla and leather coming out to play with the patchouli and sandalwood more. I don't know that I'd say it's something that everyone can wear. I can see some of the gourmand fans getting tired from the sandalwood or patchouli quickly. I guess it depends on what your skin does with these notes. The leather is more of a worn, brown leather, so everything has this smoky, dusty sweetness. I like it, I can see this being amazing on the right person.

    Fortuna Restitutrix

At first, the clove was really strong with the rest of the elements. So, it smelled like hanging out in a fancy Italian restaurant around Christmas. As it's dried down, it's taken on a sweeter quality. I think the olive blossom, similar to the note in St. Louis #1 rounds out the leather, and it does remind me of a fancy car with leather interior owned by a woman who wears expensive perfume. But not the expensive perfume that is headache inducing. I guess I amp the olive blossom, because I would not consider this a leather or a clove smell. I have to get really close to pick up any clove.
