  1. In the decant: Something like a beeswax candle but sweeter.

Wet: Much as on cold sniff, but the leather is appearing.

The dry-down: Faint hints of the wood and leather. No ashes, thank goodness. This is mostly like a warmer, sweeter but non-fruity version of Candles Moon. I like it!

  2. The wild joy of story time on a frosty winter morning: the well-loved, well-worn leather of old fairy tale books, the sweet mustiness of antique paper, fae glimmers of twinkling crystalline flowers, and a chunk of Scottish Tablet.

In the decant: The scottish tablet--oh boy, but this smells tasty!

Wet: Much as on cold sniff, but w/ hints of the other notes.

The dry-down: Still mostly the tablet, but hints of leather and paper peek out from time to time. Not sure where the flowers went, but that's okay. I :wub2: this! 1 or 2 bottles, that's the only question now. :)

  3. In the decant: Icy vetiver.

Wet: More ozone and asphalt now.

The dry-down: Another morpher. All vetiver, all the time. SN Vetiver, to be precise. I have some of the previous version, and this is nothing like it. Perhaps aging will help.

  4. In the decant: Bittersweet pom.

Wet: Once applied, it starts warming up and growing sweeter.

The dry-down: I'll have to do a death match, but this seems to be similar to the last version, a sweet pinkish scent, not bitter or dark. I quite like it. This could be a nice scent for a little girl.

  5. In the decant: Ozoney mint.

    Wet: Minty ozone.

The dry-down: The ozone gets a little sweeter as it dries, but not much. Doesn't really morph. I like it, but I have a bottle from a previous year, and not sure I need more.

  6. This is for the 2013 version.

In the decant: A chilled tea rose.

Wet: The tea rose is now sweeter (vanilla) and warmer.

The dry-down:A lovely tea rose. Once it is warmed by my skin, it stays the same. No snow or ozone here. I do like it. :)

  7. In the decant: Salted air at the beach.

Wet: More like fresh water and willows drooping into the water.

The dry-down: Now a co-mingling of fresh and salt water, like in the marshes. I spent part of my summers growing up at my grandparents' place on the Intercoastal Waterway, and this brings back memories of sunning on the dock while the family went crabbing, boating w/ my uncle, exploring mud flats w/ my brother, and sailing w/ my parents. Thank you for that, Beth. Bottle for sure. :)

  8. In the decant: Lots of ozone, hints of the other notes.

    Wet: Now lots of cardamon!

The dry-down: Mostly the sweet ozone note, with a touch of sugar plum and currant. What a morpher! I like it, and might go for a bottle. I adore the Lab's ozone note. :wub2:

  9. This is for the 2013 version.

In the imp: Sweet but a little high-pitched florals, dunked in a champagne bottle.

Wet: Much as on cold sniff, but getting sweeter.

The dry-down: Really nice, and doesn't really morph. I'm not much for florals, and this does have tuberose and jonquil, two of my unfavs, but all the other notes seem to be keeping them in check.

  10. In the decant: Blue musk w/ chilled flowers.

Wet: Rockrose leads the pack of florals, as they float in the musk.

The dry-down: Mostly blue musk now, with flowers in the mix. The snow note isn't obvious; it's there to evoke the cold. May get a bottle as I love blue musk.

I love looking at the stars in wintertime. :wub2:

  11. In the decant: Florals headed up by the lilies, w/ a hint of the minty snow note.

Wet: Some of the sweetness of the white rose appears.

The dry-down: All the flowers listed are in the garden, with the minty snow note tying them together. A nice floral (and I'm not wild abt flower notes), but I had to try this because of L. M. Montgomery, the white rose note, and the snow note.

  12. In the decant: Sweet minty goodness. :)

    Wet: A tad more minty.

The dry-down: Very minty this year's version, perhaps more spearmint than peppermint, with just enough sweetness to keep the mint in check.

  13. This is for the 2013 edition.

In the decant: A soured rose.

    Wet: Brightening up somewhat.

The dry-down: Very different from previous years. A rose that's souring is not my thing, at all. Not fresh and no dew, but instead has been left too long in what must be unchanged water.

  14. In the decant: Almond blossom touched by the cold winds.

Wet: Much as on cold sniff, but there's a hint of the nut itself, and a slight sweetness not present when sniffed from the decant.

The dry-down: Now mostly the flower, and fading--too bad, as this is a wonderful scent. On my maybe-to-upgrade list.

  15. This is for the 2013 version.

In the decant: OMG! All the notes beautifully blended.

Wet: Much as on cold sniff. :)

The dry-down: Just gorgeous! This is the best year yet! The olive oil and beeswax combine to make a soft bed for the fruits to nestle in, the sufganiyot adds the heavenly kiss of sweetness, and the amber adds just a hint of powder. Bottle-worthy. :wub2: Chanukkiyah 2013 stands as a good reason to re-test returning scents--we never can know what magic Beth will work each time around. :)

  16. In the decant: Dark, dank soil, and a metallic note--perhaps the shackles?

Wet: That metal note calms down, and there's a hint of smoke.

The dry-down: Ack! The metallic note is back. Not my thing; Graveyard Dirt is much better on my skin.

  17. In the decant: Very aquatic, but herbal as well.

Wet: A touch sweeter, but also more floral.

The dry-down: The iris comes to dominate the blend and basically has that nasty sharp note. :( Shame about that.

  18. In the decant: The minty snow note. Uh-oh!

Wet: A hint of the pink rose and its green stem. Something sweet, but not a traditional vanilla.

The dry-down: The notes have mixed together nicely, but this seems to be different from the perfume oil. They would compliment each other, though. :)

  19. Note that I use the bath oils as body lotions.

In the decant: So well-blended that not one note dominates.

Wet: Bergamot and something sweet, w/ a hint of the rose.

The dry-down: The snowy woods and the blackberry emerge. Elegant and fit for a winter maiden. :)

  20. When 1st sprayed, lots of spruce and pine, followed by a snow note that is minty and sweet at the same time, with just a weird hint of dryer sheets (mostly unscented, except w/ a hint of linen). A little unsettling. Because of this, and the lack of the granite note, will keep decant, but probably no bottle purchase.
