  1. Does he use any aftershave or scented body wash or stuff like the Axe sprays? If so, that might give you some tips.

If Bpal is still offering GC decants, or sets of them, having a selection to try might be good.  HTH!

    ETA: what about Dorian?

So I had my daughter sniff & she said men's axe body spray & chocolate 😂 ...maybe Intrigue sultry, exotic scent that inspires devious plotting and clandestine affairs. It is a scent painted in artifice, veiled in deceit, and slithering with whispered secrets. Black palm, with cocoa, fig and shadowy wooded notes.

What scent is this? Looks interesting!

  3.

[in the bottle]: The grass and the dandelion sap are both giving the wild strawberries a green fresh-from-the-garden scent.

[wet]: The benzoin seems to be deepening the strawberries to a darker, less fresh feeling.

[the dry-down]: Last night, when I tested this, it was all strawberry candy of some sort. Today's dry-down is more pleasant. :) All the notes have now mixed together in a lovely blending. The sugar is sweetening the strawberries, the green notes are keeping it somewhat fresh, and the benzoin is grounding the overall scent. The strawberry note floats along on the top, making this a great summer moon scent!

  4. The white sage is the most prominent note, but it's not foodie, more like that of a smudging stick. I suspect this is because of the dead leaves' autumnal note holding the sage in check. The apple note is crisp, not tart yet not really sweet, and only just noticeable. I sprayed it around the living room for testing; for me, it's a pleasant scent to carry over from late summer harvest into early autumn.

  5. I know we''re a few months out from those lovely fall and winter scents, but there are usually some good fruit and food scents then, in the  Halloweenies and Yules. :)  Samhain has an apple note and Snow White has a sweet coconut scent to me. Eat Me is yummy for GC scents. The imp packs can be helpful! In June, I hope for the Lunacy blend, Strawberry Moon. Reading reviews is good, too.

I don't have an answer, but would be interested in knowing as well since that one comes up a lot!

In my big post above where I discussed the 3 snow notes, I noted that CGitS has the minty snow note. HTH!

Is there a snow note that is heavy on an evergreen note?  Or is it just that many of these scents have both elements?

I suspect the later is correct!

Also, there's been mention of a spicy or resin-heavy snow note, but I have never ID'ed it.

There's three snow notes that the Lab seems to use. There's the minty note, the sweetish note, and the icy/ozone note. These ideas are based on not only my own experience w/ the snowy notes, but much that I have read here on the forum.

    This is a WiP.

The sweetish snow note for sure shows up in Snow White--to me, it's almost like a sweet coconut scent. Others say that it's like vanilla, as in The Waltz of the Flowers (which also has lot of mint). Go To Sleep, Darlings is in this category and Pink Snowballs.

Skadi, Ice Queen, and Onoduris all have some of the minty note in them to various degrees, but not hugely so. Nuclear Winter has always been a blast of the minty snow note, for me, but w/ some ozone as well. Cloister Graveyard in the Snow is also very minty and so is Braving the Ice. Like Brooms of Steel is very minty to start with. The Garden in Winter and Colder and Colder are minty as well.

The Lick It series is always peppermint and vanilla, so it's like two of the snow notes in one bottle. I love this series, and so does the bf. :)

I get the icy ozone note in Countess Dolingen of Gratz, one of my fav snow scents ever, even if it's a Halloweenie. :) Also in Purple Snowballs, Autumn and Winter (very sharp), Black Ice, A Cold, Clear Day, and the 2010 version of Midwinter's Eve.

There's scents where the ozone and mint notes seem to combine: Moon of Ice, Death-Fires Dancing Over the Tombs, Cloth of Gold, Numb, and Yellow Snowballs.

The 2010 version of Winter-Time was a morpher and had all 3 snow notes!

Almond Blossom has a little of the ozone note and a tiny bit of the sweet snow note.

This should be of help abt the 3 snow notes that I'm aware of--hope this helps!

  9. I find the Yule LE Nuclear Winter to be very minty. I haven't sniffed my bottle in ages, but I don't remember any woods. Do check reviews, though. SO that's not for you.

There are several snow notes. Will reply more.

  10. In the bottle: The grassy scent of the dandelion is sweetened somewhat by the honey and the red currants.

Wet: Much the same as on cold sniff.

The dry-down: The currants and honey move to the foreground. I think this will work nicely with many honey or currant scents.

Please note that I use the bath oils as a lotion. This bath oil is thicker than some that I have had from the Post in the past. A little goes a long way! Also, the scent lasts longer on dry skin than applying it to freshly-showered skin that has been towel-dried somewhat.

  11. in the bottle: The somewhat green note of the cardamom floats over the mildly-flavored pumpkin cake.

wet: The cardamom is front and center! The cake has more of the pumpkin note.

the dry-down: Now the pumpkin cake and the cardamon-cream frosting have come together nicely. :) I'd like this to be a real food item! There's a slight tendency of the cinnamon to bother the wrist area that's somewhat present; I'll have to remember for future autumns to put some unscented baby oil on first.

  12. in the bottle: It seems to be mostly SO w/ tiny whiffs of all the other notes.

wet: The other notes are slowly coming forward.

the dry-down: A black leather note from Krampus' switches is most obvious. Perhaps the black fruits will come to my rescue later. The pine forest, alas, is far in the distance.

I'll give this some time to age, as fresh SO isn't my thing, but that black leather note is problematical.

    ETA:

much later: Abt 2 hrs after I applied this, the dark fruits began to bloom beautifully on my wrist. :)

  13. Some scents that I like for spring are:

    Embalming Fluid,

    Needlework,
    Empyreal Mist,

    Dorian,

    Alice,

    Lady Una,

    anything that is of fairy,

    the Strawberry Moons,

The Mouse's Sad and Long Tail,

    Dublin,

    the Irish bards series

(A lot of these I wear in summer as well!)

  14. In the bottle: A sweet ozone with some black pepper.

Wet on my hair: It smells rather like Snow White w/o the florals. Sweet snow w/ coconut.

Dry on my hair: More like a sweet peppery ozone.
