  1. Imp: Baby powder

Wet: Powder's gone, replaced by a woody note. That's it so far, though

Drydown: Feh. Powdery nothing. No rose, no bark, nothing I'd call musk. Just amber gone bad.

Overall: I was hoping for a creamy wood and roses scent, which sounded SO appealing. Too bad amber had to crash the party.

  2. Imp: Earthy and kinda boozy

Wet: Gah! Patchouli and moss, with the molasses making it smell like the little guy's keeping a bottle of cheap rum under his hat!

Drydown: Oh that's much better. The molasses has calmed the hell down along with the patchouli. There's a bit of that vanilla cream, and the fruity currants are finally showing up.

Overall: Gnome, I'm sorry I ever doubted you! This scent was cringeworthy when it first hit my skin but now that it's settled it it has an earthy cheerfulness. The longer I wear it the more I love it. I'm springing for a bottle...I think. I gotta know if it overlaps too much with Dionesia (which I just bought a bottle of) but it's totally bottle-worthy if you can get past that initial application terror

Now that I have a Bottle: It was totally worth it. This scent really needs to be experienced to by understood. I think of it like a "pretty stink." It's very earthy but also sweet and fun. I get a feeling that this is going to be one of those "Legendary Scents" in the future. Glad I got in on the ground floor before this thing gets MB:Underpants hard to find.

  3. Imp: Sugar rush!

Wet: Dandelion, sugar, and something like the spun sugar note from Velvet Unicorn (to further beat that comparison in to the ground)

Drydown: Uhh...I *did* try on flamingo, right? I didn't wander in to my bedroom and put on Velvet Unicorn, did I?

Overall: This smells exactly like VU on me.

  4. Imp: Fig!

Wet: Woah there's the goat's milk. Reminding me of Milk Moon, but a touch stronger

    Drydown:

Round 1 - The smooth, sexy scent of fig.

Round 2 - Nothing sour about it! Just rich creamy figs

Overall: I'm a fig junkie. Part of me desperately wants a bottle, but the other half is alarmed by how quickly this fades...but maybe I can fix that by having the bigger bottle to apply from? ^_^

  5. My hopes: An aquatic that goes the Kingsport route rather than toward Water Phoenix

    Imp/Wet: Sweetened aquatic

    Drydown: It's not an aggressive aquatic...but it's pretty cologne-y

Overall: The "Cool Water" men's cologne. I love the scent on a guy, but this isn't something I need for myself

  6. Imp: Glee! Chamomile herbs and the smell of being warm

Wet: Cologne-y. Amber, frank, and chamomile I think

    Drydown:

Round 1 - Sweetening up. Thanks, heliotrope!

Round 2 - It's powdery without being powder. It's still pretty nice

Overall: So sad that I don't need a bottle of this. It's a touch too much amber for me. This scent is based on the eclipse happening on my birthday, so I was so looking to love this and give myself an excuse to buy a birthday bottle...Oh well. This decant should be more than enough for me

  7. Bottle: Got a good whiff of this on the bubble wrap around the bottle. Super sweet with a hint of tart currant

On the water: Makes the whole bathroom smell of beautiful sweet herbal honey and tart red currants. I definitely get more honey than fruit though

On the skin after a bath: Sweet, but not cloying. Nice and clean. Just very soft and pretty. This is lovely.

Overall: These bath oils are so nice! They leave your skin lightly scented after the bath and when it's warmed by the hot water the whole room smells amazing. A very relaxing experience. And a little goes a long way!

  8. Imp: Something dusty and plum? To be fair, this is a rather old looking imp

Wet: Still musty with something kind of woody underneath

Drydown: I take it back. This smells great! Non-sour plum with some carnation spice. Nice and deep which I guess is the bandersnatch musk

Overall: Wearable and pretty as all get out! Reminds me why I love carnation so much. Bottle audition!

  9. I had to really hold myself back from buying a bottle of this when it came out. Let's see how much I should regret that

    Imp: Warm fuzzy peaches

Wet: Sweet candy peaches and soft rose. Gorgeous

Drydown: Pretty complex, but with a dominant peach note. Peach and soft flowers with a creamy feel

Overall: ....I should have ordered a bottle...This is such a joyful summer scent. My half decant will be getting a workout and it's going on the wishlist.

  10. This laundry list of notes has so many favorites. I'm excited!

Imp: HONEY moss carnation and frankincense

Wet: Honey, Parsley, moss and the overall effect of cologne

Drydown: Oh no! It's doing that powdery cologne thing! It's super sweet, but it's totally turned to powder :(

Overall: Noooooooo :( Honey cologne! And here I thought this would be perfect and June Gloom would be skippable! Total opposite reactions.

  11. Bright summer flowers, fresh herbs, and a bit of citrus rind dampened by the scent of morning mist and rain.

Imp: Sweet citrus flowers in the rain!

Wet: So pretty! The citrus isn't overpowering the flowers and the watery notes just add sweetness.

Drydown: Amazingly soft and gentle for hot summer days. The misty notes and citrus are just right over the the light flowers ans sweet herbs.

Overall: LOVE. Looks like I need to join the back-order army for a bottle of this since I'm NOT letting it pass me by.

  12. Imp: Cherry with bubblegummy lotus

Wet: More cherry bubblegummy lotus. Fun!

Drydown: As it gets more time on the skin, it becomes less silly and fun and takes on a darker edge. Lotus remains bubblegummy, but there's something deep like dessert wine to go with it. It's a nice new take on lotus.

Overall: It's a cool scent, but not something I can see wearing. I don't wear many "dark" scents to begin with, and nothing is really hooking me to this one. But it was worth trying!

  13. Sweet Pea and carnation are two of my favorite notes

Imp: Watery sweet pea and some spice

Wet: Very sweet, but I'm not sure it's sweet pea I'm smelling. More like sweet water

Drydown: Wish the carnation came out more. Now it's just sweet pea and lilly. Has a very candy-like feel. Specifically, smarties.

Overall: Well I finally found it. The scent that's too sweet, even for me. I smell like Smarties (American sugar candy smarties, not the Canadian chocolate candy) and that's where I draw the line.

  14. Imp/Wet: Fresh, clean, appealing florals!

Drydown: Probably the least aggressive ginger I've ever smelled with some clean tropical blossoms.

Overall: Very nice! I feel like this would be a fun scent to wear on a hot summer day to stay cool and pretty. Keeping the imp for now, but probably not going to need a bottle.

  15. Imp: Baby wipes and diaper :nervous:

    Wet: Jaaaaaasmiiiiiinne

    Drydown: /sigh Jasmine

Overall: Curses and drat! I was expecting a lot of complexity and ended up with a jasmine single note. I've got a lot of things with Jasmine that do way more than this blend, so it's off to the swaps

  16. Imp: Something great. Sweet aquatic, heady florals, and earth

Wet: A touch cologne-y, but with plenty of flowers. Fells like an amped up Phantom Queen

Drydown: Like a tall cliffside that's being beaten constantly by some brutal waves. Strong, hardy flowers can hang on, but the rock and water do their best to overwhelm them. This is not a foofy, shrinking floral scent.

Overall: I'm keeping this decant if only for how evocative the scent is. It's a very down to earth flower scent with the beauty of the rocks and waves, and that landscape really appeals to me. I must say, it's a pretty good smelling perfume, as well :)

  17. Imp: Plum, pomegranate and patchouli

Wet: Sweetened patchouli with a touch of rapberry.

Drydown: Sweet, tart, and really sexy! All the fruit smells great with the deeper notes like patchouli and mahogany. Benzion keeps this from getting too deep and dirty

Overall: Gorgeous! My favorite Grindhouse lady so far. Smells completely different than anything else I own even though it shares quite a few notes with Mme. Moriarity. It's not so patchouli heavy that it would be hard to wear out among the commercial perfume wearing public. I really think a bottle of this will be making its way in to my next order

  18. Not sure how much I'll like the scent, but I discovered BPAL right after the MVJBA stuff came down and love the concept. Let's see if I love the scents just as much!

Imp: Delicious pancakes topped with maple syrup, grass clippings and neat smelling EVIL

Wet: Grass and incense instead of pancakes. Pretty fun, though. I guess the bitter tone is from the coffee?

Drydown: Green grass, something that I can't really describe, and the buttery goodness of pancakes

Overall: I swapped for a decant of this because I thought the concept was creative and funny. I never expected that the scent would be so wearable! I'd love to find a bottle of this. A fun, quirky summer scent. Here's hoping for another MVJBA season!

  19. So far out of my comfort zone that I had to try it

Imp: Pine pitch and patchouli....but good!

Wet: The pin again with a bit of non-scary patchouli...and something really *pretty!* I think vanilla, but Snake Oil style. That's probably the resins giving me that idea. Tobacco's pretty pleasant too!

Drydown: Still getting a snake oil vibe, but with a lot of really cool extras. The pine pitch is just happily playing along with the vanilla and resins instead of taking over. It's rough but sweet at the same time. Not what you would expect from such "grrrr" notes like pine pitch and patchouli

Overall: I think I like it. It's kinda dirty and gruff in a really sexy way. Like I said, it's way out of my comfort zone, so it remains to be seen if I'll get much use out of it

  20. Imp: Mostly apple blossom

Wet: Pretty nice floral. Clean without being like cleaning solution

Drydown: That's just...wow. This is a DAMNED nice floral scent. The the orchid and moss have this cool effect together were the whole scent manages to be fancy and pretty but down to earth as well. Woah. This is great!

Overall: Love it. It's one of those "second skin" scents for me. One of those scents that feel very right to wear and smell like I wish I could always smell. Awesome scent. Wish I hadn't taken so long to get to a MORRIGAN scent of all things. For shame. But now I've found it and a big bottle is a serious probability. We'll know after the full day test!

  21. Imp: Very dry pale scent

Wet: The really pale notes are much improved by the DBR. Makes it a bit sweet on top of the dryness

    Drydown: Dried out Dragon's Blood.

Overall: Needs another test, but it was interesting.

  22. Taking a Tour de Dragon's Blood

    Imp: very soft. lotsa lilac

Wet: "It's lilac, bitches!" Very sweet. Picking up on the lily but not the DBR, oddly

Drydown: Now it's just lily of the valley. I get no DBR at all

    Overall: Needs more Dragon's Blood
