I would *love* to find a cherry blossom scent that didn't make me smell like a 12 year old trying very hard to be a grown-up Imp: Sweet and sour. I get quite a bit of Yuzu (I have yuzu scented body lotion, so I'm not pulling that out of thin air ) Wet: Sweetly floral with sour citrus. No tea, as yet. Smells like a summer evening Drydown: Something has cut through the sour yuzu by now made the blend a much better balance of sweet and sour. Overall: A complex citrus blend that doesn't go to cleaning solution on me! This is a big winner. Definitely a keeper of an imp, and I have a feeling it will do well on bottle auditions too.

    Morocco

Will I get "pretty and exotic" or "totally burning incense to cover up an *ahem* 'less than legal' smell" Imp: Spicy, sweet, and smooth. Not your typical incense smell Wet: Reminds me a little of the drydown on Inez, but without the wood note, of course. It's really nice Drydown: It's such a subtle blend! I was worried about aggressive hippie-smell but this is so the opposite. Just a bit of carnation and musk. No cassia. No red sandalwood. Overall: I really do like it and could see using it when I needed to add a little kick to my day, but I'm not sure if it wins out over Inez for this scent type. I shall have to have a throwdown between the two, but Morocco is definitely worth giving a try!

    Springtime scents

I've got my staples that get used regardless of weather, but something tells me these are going to be getting more as the weather warms up... Host of the Air - Grassy sunny happiness. Probably even more used in Summer Et Lux Fuit - I'm getting a bottle! I'm not restricted to my half imp! The happy yellow flowers are going to be a staple when the weather is good. Melisande - There are rainy cool days in Spring, too. Something about Melisande makes me think of those days. Dormouse - I'll pretty much be bathing in this by mid-April Megaera - Nice and fizzy but not a stereotypical spring scent.

    Milk Moon 2007

Decant: Sour milk, but if the other reviews are any indication that's nothing to worry about Wet: Milk, honey and fig. Something green too. Not getting any pineapple Drydown: Soft and creamy! Very smooth with lots of complimentary fruit. Not sour at all. Overall: It's nice and creamy. Worth hanging on to to see if it gets any use

    Endymion

Imp: Juicy pear and lily Wet: A tangy pear with bois de rose. Rose is actually pretty prominent Drydown: Very romantic scent. The rose and pear are about equal, but you'd never know there were other notes. Overall: It's actually really pretty, but since I'm trying to keep my stash in check, I just don't think I need to hand on to it. I compared it to the other scent I have that fits this niche (Titania) and it didn't come out on top. Well worth a try for a fruit/floral combo!

    Silk Road

Imp: Your friendly neighborhood hippie store Wet: Fluffy spicy Drydown: No distinct notes popping out at me, but feels like a really well blended spicy floral. Not dirty, but definitely not prim and proper. Overall: Definitely deserves another look! Hanging on to the imp for now to see if it needs a bottle

    Machu Picchu

Imp: Fruit and pepper? Wet: Ah. Not pepper. Just something bitey like pepper. Maybe the woody notes? Also orchid, which I'm a fan of. Drydown: Wet, green orchids. Overall: Very tropical. Orchids are fun, but I think I prefer Shadow Witch Orchid for my fancy tropical flower needs. Still a fun, lush scent though!

    Kingsport

Still searching for my perfect aquatic. And "The Festival" is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories (text from it is pasted in to my BPAL box) so I'm really excited to have a decant. Imp: Sweet aquatic. Much less "in your face" than Water Phoenix Wet: Still a nice smooth aquatic. Clear and cold. I must be fond of ozone, because I'm really quite enjoying this. Drydown: Still a really nice, light aquatic. I can get the ozone on the tail end of a deep sniff and it's pretty cool. Overall: I like it! I'd like to have a nice, wearable aquatic for those days that I'm looking for something along those lines. I think this will fit the bill quite nicely

    Tzadikim Nistarim

Imp: Clean. Maybe a bit of olive and resin Wet: Wow. This is *nothing* like what I expected. It's very clean and sweet Drydown: LOLmango. Seriously what the heck is going on with this scent. It's pretty nice, but seriously throwing my nose for a loop with the listed notes Overall: A very calm, smooth fruit scent with resin to brighten it up. It's nice, and kinda tropical, just not something I'm going to be reaching for

    Tamora

Imp: PEACHES! And strawberry? Wet: Creamy peaches and warmth. Heliotrope is making is soft a poofy. Mmmm... Drydown: Warm vanilla and peaches. It's so soft and sweet, but not cloying at all Overall: This is *really* pretty.

    L'Ecole des Filles

Imp: Orange, carrot, and something airy Wet: Soapy carrots? Drydown: Orange blossom won't come out and I get this weird plastic smell. Overall: Yeahno. It's got this unsettling plastic feel that I can't deal with. But if nothing else, the rose isn't eating my arm.
  12. CynicalPink

    Herbert West

imp: Sour aftershave Wet: Lemony cleaning solution Drydown: Lemon meh Overall: Very much a guy scent on me. But not like a "manly-lumberjack-bear-rasslin" kind of guy scent. Definitely more quiet and creepy. Not for me, though
  13. CynicalPink

    Galvanic Goggles

Imp: Woah! This is a manly scent for manly men. Wet: Tobacco, metal, and musk Drydown: Bright, clean cologne Overall: It's pretty nice cologne, just not for me
  14. CynicalPink

    Leipreachan

Imp: Dark green cologne Wet: Warty green and sweet. It's cool! Drydown: Green, clean, and rugged. It's a really likeable scent, but pretty manly for my tastes Overall: What a cool scent! This would smell amazing on a guy, but I have to say it's not too shabby on me either!

    Flower Moon 2009

Bottle: Bright, sweet honey with a gorgeous assortment of true flowers Wet: Reminds me a bit of Lady Una, but much less musky Drydown: It just makes me want to smile. An eclectic bunch of flowers soaking in very sweet, light honey. Overall: It's such a unique take on florals, how could I not love it! Also, honey is probably one of my top three favorite notes and I've never been disappointed by what it does for a scent. ETA: Just goes to show you never know what a full day's wear will bring. It turned to powder on me! I was so upset! But I managed to swap it off pretty easily. Better to find it a more loving home.

    The Host of the Air

Bottle: Grass, clover, and dandelions. Fun! Wet: A bright green meadow under a bright blue sky. It's sweet and green, but not like grass clippings. I think the florals will come out in time Drydown: Round 1 - When you were little, did you ever just start running up a hill in a park for no good reason but it was the best thing ever at the time? The way that felt? How fun it was? That's how this smells. Round 2 - It's got a floral element, but it's not screaming in your face floral. It's there to hang out and be friends while you lay in the clover. Round 3 - This is going to get a ton of summer wear Overall: A more than suitable stand in for my imp of The Passionate Shepherd. I love how green this is without making me sneezy. It's so happy!

The Dole of the King's Daughter

High hopes for a unique scent Bottle: Rose and lily with something earthy. Very deep. Semi-aquatic Wet: Somber. Takes a few seconds for the flowers to come out, but they're on their way! Drydown: Round 1 - Creamy, down to earth floral. No choking rose or heady lily. Round 2 - Dark and creamy. Fair bit of throw to it. I guess it's the yew that's giving it the "green" edge. Round 3 - This is going to sound weird, but when i get really close, i think I can smell the sand. Overall: This is SO cool. It's got florals that I love, but with a dark and foreboding edge to them. I can see wearing this when I need to be no nonsense for a power boost. Very happy to have my bottle.

How to remove scents from your skin

I live on Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild for long testing sessions. It works really well on most scents, but if I really get a clinger (like Mme Moriarity) I end up using the Lavender Doc Bronner's. I've always heard that lavender has it's own cleansing properties, and I'd buy it.

    Red Rose

Imp: The clove and tobacco give the imp an almost chlorine type smell. I dunno... Wet: Oh that's better. It's spicy, but there's other stuff there. The fir is interesting, as is the tobacco. Not getting rose scent from this so much as the idea of a big bad red rose. Drydown: I'm really surprised how much I like this one. It's pretty masculine, but it's not oozing testosterone Overall: It's pretty cool. Not sure I'd wear a ton of it, but when blended with the love that is White Rose, it's a much more "me" scent.

    White Rose

White rose buds, with vanilla tea, benzoin, orris, coconut meat, and frankincense. Imp: Wet: The idea of a white rose. It's soft and sweet and ethereal. Drydown: The vanilla tea is sweet and the rosebuds are a great team. The rosebuds must be bringing in the green-ness. Not getting much coconut, but the creamy feel is still there. Drydown: This is wonderful. Looks like I need to get a unity set.

    Tintagel

I love these complex, theme-y scents, but I've never found a wine based scent that I wanted to wear. Imp: Woah! There is a lot of stuff going on. Juniper, mulled wine, something deep and old. Wet: Spicey, woodsy, resiny Drydown: Mulling spices, but I'm not getting a whole lot of wine. I wouldn't believe that there's leather in this, since Whip went totally plastic on me. This feels rugged and natural. Very cozy in a "curl up by the fire with some red wine" kind of way. Overall: I'm surprisingly fond of this! It would be a great "power through a cold or rainy day" scent for me. Keeping the imp, and now officially going to start giving more attention to dragon's blood resin.
  22. CynicalPink

    Osun

Imp: Thick, drippy honey Wet: Mostly herbs and rose, strangely. I like it so far! Drydown: So herby! Sweet from the honey, maybe some floral accent, but this is all about the herbs. Overall: I'm a fan, but I'm not sure it does anything for me that some of the scents I already have don't. I'll hang on to the imp and see if it catches my attention in the near future, since this really is a cool honey scent. After a full day's wear: Well it did catch my attention againl. I wanted a honey scent with a little more to it than Tiger Lily on a hot sunny day, so I gave Osun another whirl. With a full slather and plenty of time on the skin, I saw a whole new side of it. The herbs backed off but didn't disappear. I also got a lot more honey (always a good thing) and the prettiest, most romantic pseudo-rose I've ever smelled. It's a beautiful scent and a must-try for honey lovers. Officially on the "big bottle list."

    Gwyneth

I love florals, but I've never really tried skin musk. Let's see. Imp: Coconut, rose and sage. Awesome combination Wet: Coconut, rose and sage. Sweet and smooth. Kind of a "white and pink" feel to it. Drydown: A creamy pink rose. Overall: While it's not as complex as I'd expected, I'm pretty fond of this one. Springtime seems like the perfect time to have this on bottle audition
  24. CynicalPink

    Yemaya

Imp: Melon! Wet: Very fresh cut watermelon and maybe a bit of cucumber Drydown: Cool, fresh aquatic and melon. This scent will be great on a hot summer day Overall: It's so fresh! I can't wait to use this for a summer day. The imp's sticking around, and let's see if summer use brings it to a bottle!

    Water of Notre Dame

Imp: Light, citrus-y floral Wet: Lilac, orange, and something green Dry: Aw hell, it went soapy. Overall: S'okay. There seem to be plenty of floral-citrus team-ups in BPAL, but this is a really good example of one. Rose doesn't steamroll the whole thing, lilac is a very nice note I shall have to look further in to...it's just not doing much for my skin
