  1. I vote for Eos or Swank, or Amsterdam. Something unexpected.

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

Venice is a bit lemony to me. Mag Mel also has a bit of a lemony tweek to it

    Oborot

I didn't read any of the other reviews, but my absolute first thought was "OMG! That smells like my friend Brent - cigarettes and Mtn. Dew!" Then I was able to pick out specifics, mostly moss though. A little bit of the fir.. And Earth. *wrinkles nose* It's not as bad on my skin as it was in the bottle, but it's not something I'm going to wear a lot for sure, so off to the swap list!

    Lady MacBeth

First thought: zOMG! CIRCUS PEANUTS!! That's what this smells like, those orange marshmellow-y peanut things! YAY!! Wet: Oh, see, now I get berries, nice. And a little bit of.. orange? *confused* No, that's the currant. Dry: Sweet gods! This is LOVELY! The wine warms up on my skin and just intoxicates. I must have a bottle.

    Dian's Bud

I got an imp of this today from Shelldoo! Yay! Thanks! In the imp - this is a very clean, light scent, almost.. like a slightly fruity white tea. Wet - I have to keep saying clean. It's not soapy on me, but light.. and I do detect a slight melon-y note now and then. Dry - wow, I'm loving this. It's so.. Light! I hate to keep repeating that, but it is just that - light, airy, sweet floral. The melon's there still, just a tad, enough to give it a bit of a throw. A nice sweet scent, something you might wear on a summer picnic, or to a wedding maybe.

    Peace

This is one of the few TAL's I use almost daily lately. My work is extremely stressful, and I have a lot of trouble settling down at night when I get home, going to sleep at night. Just a little dab of Peace, and.. it's like instant relaxation. I sleep so soundly and I don't wake up so much during the night either. I've found that pairing this with Clarity really helps after "one of THOSE days" to shake off any mental blocks due to stress, or during those really stressful times when you feel like you're "going in a million different directions". Scentwise, it's very light, barely there, lavender, soothing, like a good cup of tea.

    Formula 54

Mmmm.. I fell in love the second I caught a whiff. This is simply the best booze-y sweet and spicy scent ever. First sniff, I get cognac and clove.. then a teeny bit of rose.. On my wrist, it's lovely rose, darkened by the musk, with an aftershock of cognac.

    Centzon Totochtin

First thought is cocoa AND red wine? I've gone and died and am sitting at the Pearly Gates in shock. I am loving this. Wet - oh.my.gods. This is just.. I'm speechless. There's a bit of rum now, warm, sensual and makes you want more. Dry - I get more booze now than cocoa. It's fur-ruffling, frightening fun drunken nights and delights, a dizzying blur of rum-wine-cocoa-rum-what is THAT?-more cocoa-wine-rum. 5 minutes later - sweet mocha, I'm still in love. Dusky cocoa, smooth - like a cigarette after sex. Verdict: Keeper!!

    Erato

Aw, man!! I wish I'd gotten Pepto Bismal.. I would have liked that over what I got lol. At first sniff, it's all rose and ylang-ylang - nice, but I have a bunch of other rose scents that are better. Wet - Oh YUCK, sweet pea, through and through. Ugh. Not for me, and this is going straight to swaps.

    Himerus

I was hesitant to try this because I don't generally get along with juniper - but Himerus keeps coming back to me lol - and juniper is exactly what I get at first sniff. Which is ok.. it's not SO bad.. There is a bit of something else, the bergamot maybe, that tones it down. Wet. Ew. Yuck. Even more Juniper with.. a slight floral, but not enough to help. Verdict - it's tolerable after a few minutes, but I'm not sure that warrants forcing my nose to deal with the first few moments. Too bad.

    Blood Moon 2005

In vial: OY!! Cinnamon imps all the way! Yummy. Wet: Still very much cinnamon, but more like a cinnamon stick left in hot water or tea... then I get cinnamon roasted almonds.. (slightly woodsy too??) Dry down is really very nice and spicy. It's a keeper.

    Thunder Moon

I love aquatics.. and just opening this bottle, I KNOW it's going to be so awesomely perfect on me, just like Selkie and Storm Moon. It's sweet crisp ocean air (crisp enough I get an "ice cream headache" *giggles*) Wet on my skin, it's sweet still, but with slightly woodsy undertones.. and the more it dries the more like woods during a rain storm impression I get. Dry.. you know what this reminds me of? An older computer game - Kyranthia? I think it was called, and there's a scene with a great stone temple on a cliff, with a small wooded area right behind it.. that's what this reminds me of. It's softer than Storm Moon, with a little of Selkie's neck-ruffling skin (or maybe that's me). Verdict: LOVE LOVE LOVE Thunder Moon. Brilliant.

    Treat #2

In the bottle, I get alll yummy delicious chocolate, with a hint of.. something creamy. It's yummy, almost like 13 was. Wet, it is weird.. a combo of coconut and buttercream, I guess, not something I particularly enjoy, and I almost gave up on this. Until the drydown.. first, it's just slightly orange, battling with the cream and coconutty scents, and then.. oh my gods, this most wonderfully full chocolate orange blooms, with a hint of mint that is just to die for.
  14. maybe TAL's - Concentration, Energy, and Block Buster - to help pay attention solely on the book, without coffee or sodas (thus cutting back on unnecessary bathroom breaks!) and blocking out other people as distractions! LOL!! (because it never fails, I get a book I'm desperate to read and things constantly interrupt!)

    Thalia

In the vial, this is just a lovely pear, really, I want to love it.. the second it gets on my skin though, it goes bonkers, and all I get is not-so-bubbly sticky champagne. Meep. Maybe I'll have more luck just using it as a locket scent.

    Croquet

We have some trouble managing our flamingos, too. Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk. YUM YUM YUM!! I was afraid of this scent when I read the description, because pink.. pink is not me. (neither is patchouli for that matter lol). However I was VERY pleasantly surprised. In the imp, this is just so juicy, so fruity, I can almost taste the lime and grapefruit. It's bright and sparkly and everything flamingoes should be *grins* Wet - slightly more lime than grapefruit, and a little more woodsy, but playful - this is SUCH a happy go lucky scent! It almost immediately chases away the stress of work lol. Dry - warm woods, lime and something a little more wicked - naughty flamingoes plotting evil maybe *laughs* I love this scent so much, and I'm TOTALLY buying a bottle.

    Selkie

I love this scent! LOL!! As I tried to describe it to my mother - it's a wet something.. kind of.. on my skin, but not a nasty wet something, like a dirty wet dog. It's like what I imagine a clean wet baby seal might smell like lol. In the bottle, it's this wonderful light airy ozone scent, similar, but not near as sharp as Storm Moon. It's calmer, yes, that's a good description, but with a playfully fun undertone. The drydown reminds me of skin, of a wetsuit maybe.. with a bit of floral, aquatics, and .. saltiness.

    Shadow

In the imp - it's very wispy and ethereal, which I guess is appropriate There's a hint of something there.. Wet - grey herbs &.. lemon? lemon verbena? Dry - light, dry herbs still, with that "something" hiding in the background that's not agreeing with my nose. Five minutes later, that something is giving me a headache. I bought this imp from a forumite, and got to try it before I read any description or review. I'm so geeked that I guessed lemon verbena right LOL!! However, the note that doesn't agree with my nose would have to be patchouli - I should have suspected. Oh well! It's lovely until the dry down on me, when the patchouli just takes over my senses.

    Faiza, the Black Mamba (2006)

In the bottle, it's dark, slithering (god, that's such a great word for it!) and I have a hard time picking out any specific note, or even exactly what I like about Faiza, but I love it! Wet - it's very earthy (to me, at least) and I'm guessing that's the oakmoss, which usually turns me off from a scent, but that dark.. floral?.. creeping scent comes back, and I forget all about anything else. Drydown is so deliciously complicated - spicy! no, just dark! floral?? oh gods, I want to bath in it. (YAY to the Lab. This is the first time I've wanted to hoard bottles upon bottles of Faiza, and her companions lol!)

    Coral Snake (2006)

You know, for what it's worth, I really didn't like Snake Oil all that much in the first place, but I find myself loving a LOT of the Snake Pits. Coral Snake, in the bottle is such a delicious scent - Apple! then oooo LEMON!! and a hint of gardenia slithering around in there that just sends a shiver down my back. I was in love at first sniff. Wet on my skin, there's the orange, and apple and gardenia still there, and that's ok, because they go so very well together on me, I just want to .. roll in it. Drydown - so lovely, I want to say eloquent. Elegant. Euphoric too. No one note overpowers the rest, they just play very well together. (As a sidenote, this blends very well with Priala.)

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

In the bottle - Berry. Amber. Berry. Berry. Mmmmmmm... Wet: Berries, again.. with some vanilla. Meep. Vanilla does weird things on my skin sometimes.. Dry: still berries, maybe a hint of something extra, but no vanilla surprisingly. I expected a little more spice because of the cardamon, but hey, berry is allllll good on me. I need another bottle. 5 minutes later: OOO!!!! Neroli!! DEFINITELY need another bottle!!

    Stranger in Camp

In Bottle: Bright Evergreen - I've yet to find a green woodsy scent that appeals to me as much as this does. Yum!! It's like.. walking in the middle of the woods far away from anything else. Wet - slightly more cedar, but not overpowering, with grass. Cool & green instead of the fuller sharp evergreen. Drydown is all fresh pine, sweet and all Spring-y.
  23. Bain

    Snow-Flakes

In the bottle - I get sweets, with only a little mint. Weird. Wet - ALL mint. half dry - sugary mint again. Almost like straight in the bottle. Drydown - bright bright mint.. It does remind me of staring up at night to see snow flakes falling down on me. Nice scent, I like it.

    The Snow Maiden

I have this in my locket right now.. I've just fallen in love. Wet: it's all crisp berries and woodsy notes - I almost said soft, but it's not.. it's not sharp pine, but.. Crisp. Crisp is a good description.. It's so lovely, cool, and yes, I agree The Snow Maiden is a good alternative to Ice Queen, definitely. It's just so perfectly me, I can't stop sniffing it. On my skin, it goes just slightly darker, duskier, but not too much.

    Shanghai Tunnel

Nifty weird! At first sniff, I get a very reedy, woodsy scent, second sniff is a little more green. On my wrist, it's almost like sniffing a pine tree though, and that thought made me laugh, because it's not at all what I expected. Hurray for the first woodsy scent I've found that I like!!
