  1. I dislike writing bad reviews. I usually just won't review it at all but was pretty disappointed with my Oof fizzyboom. I used an Oof in my bath tonight and loath though I am to admit it, I wasn't that impressed with this one. It fizzes like mad, which is fun, but has almost no scent once it hits the water. It is white so there isn't any color which is fine but what I was sad about was that mine didn't seem to have any water softening bits or the like. With some bath bombs my skin is super moisturized afterwords but not tonight. I have a couple of others to try but I won't order Oof again.

I feel like such a bitch for writing this

  2. In the bottle this smells like...not a lot. It is almost a neutral smell, even after warming up for 6 hours in my house. But on, well that is a whole nother story. I can't think of another blend that blooms so dramatically once it hits my skin. The florals come out, with a sort of pineapple undertone. The coconut is most prominent in the first 10 minutes where it added a creaminess to the florals. After a half hour or so that pineapple note goes sharp and bitter on me :P while the florals remain dominant

  3. I was a little skeptical of this in the bottle - it was half good - ripe, juicy, fruits/florals - and half bad - I got a lavender vibe of all things.

On, after about 15 minutes it is just a blend of very sweet flowers with maybe a hint of herbs. Then it bloomed into a wonderful gardenia like scent on my skin. Love the tropical florals.

  4. Proud, contented, and aglow with joy, she has conquered her lover with her charms, and she knows with all her soul that he is completely and utterly devoted to her. In bliss, she basks in the blessings of the God of Love: golden amber, oude, red sandalwood, massoia bark, honey, and currant.

Ok - you have to try it and let it go through it's mighty morphing stages. It starts out soapy on my skin, no idea why. Then it warms up to a sort of honey soapy feel, and then the fun starts. A sort of butter/coconut/honey vibe comes out after about 15 minutes and then last it settles politely and sensually into honeyed jasmine. Don't know where the jasmine note comes out but it definately isn't a jasmine essential oil, just something that somehow combines to end up smelling like jasmine. Truely lovely.

  5. Snake Oil with linden blossom, calla lily, passion flower, and narcissus.

Wet: Springtime! All the lovely florals are almost tropical fruitlike - almost mangoish - all blended together. It reminds me of the Northwest Flower and Garden show. It's feburary, dark rainy Seattle, then you walk into the convention center and all the display gardens bursting with spring blooms. A riot of sweet scents that somehow all work together.

Dry: This didn't morph a lot on me, just toned the super sweet aspect down to a lovely incense floral

  6. Headache relief.

This is such a clear soothing mint. Very wintergreen and fresh. Wakes up your brain even as it sooths it. Great for clarity after a long day sniffing bpal. I'm feeling much more relaxed and laid back now.

  7. Sinus pain relief.

Almost fell over laughing at the cheek of this blend. It is indeed sinus pain relief (a few days to late in my case, but am all better now) at any rate in the imp this is pure Vick's Vapor Rub. :P An eye opening menthol that made my day. Am almost looking forward to my next headcold now.

  8. Wet: Dark juicy fruits

On: The red berry note hangs around for a while then the gentle amber comes out to play. There is an almost raw sugarcane note in mix that settles into a spicy vanilla. It's funny, in Snake Oil I almost don't get any vanilla at all, this level of "vanillaness" is much more to my liking. It is a cassia/cinnamon sort of vanilla spiciness and the berry has almost completely faded into the background.

  9. Holy crap! Nothing subtle about this puppy! At first sniff I thought I was smelling cummin or curry or something but no, it was just the strongest dry cinnamon I have every smelled. I actually think it is the ginger/cinnamon combo that led me to the curry note, or maybe just yummy Thai food note.

The drydown the cinnamon becomes much better behaved mellowing to sweet spicy goodness. More of a bakery cinnamon rather than a candy "red hots" cinnamon. I want to lick my hand but know that would lead to very bad things :P

  10. Snake Oil with sugar cane, frankincense, champaca, opoponax, labdanum, and hyssop.

    Wet: Herbal and resinous

On: Don't know how but I get a distinct grape note in this when dry. It isn't in your face by any means but it is there. Mostly though it is sweet incense and spices. This one probably reminds me most of Snake oil out of all of the Pit.

  11. Snake Oil with oakmoss, sea moss, and olive leaf.

This has been one of the more elusive scents of the pit. I'm having a hard time getting a handle on it. Wet I can pick out the oakmoss - slightly earthy but almost like a sanitized version. Not as "loamy" if that makes any sense. The drydown leaves a faint salty tang with just a whisper of sweet spices. Not as much throw as some of the others (anaconda I'm looking in your general direction) and for me it would benefit from liberal slathering.

  12. Snake Oil with ho wood, teak, black musk, and bamboo.

This is reminiscent of Holiday Moon. The wet, juicy green bamboo note is prominent. It is a bright clean scent with the snake oil spiciness more like a puff of smoke in the background. There is something almost lemony in the drydown. Very nice.

    Update - 6 months later

So all of my precious have been quietly maturing away for the last few months and I gotta tell ya, if you have Habu and didn't like it, give the little guy another shot. It now has the best drydown of any of the Snake Pits. It still starts out all juicy sweet wood pulp but it dries down into a super spicy/yummy scent that is to die for. Serious sex factor.

  13. Snake Oil with blood orange, red apple, lemon peel, plumeria, and gardenia.

Am so in love with this right now.

    Wet: Crisp red apples!

Drydown: As it dries the orange/citrus comes out with just a tiny hint of sweet flowers but the apple is still king.

30 minutes: Juicy tropical flowers, apple is still there but has mostly faded and there is a warm spicy note just starting to be hinted at.

This finally settles on a juicy, mango-esque floral, with would seems like a drop of bright cherry hiding in the background. The spices come through as an almost sweet cinnamon.

  14. Snake Oil with leather, tonka bean, red sandalwood, and sage.

Wet: Sage and spicy incense. Herbal.

Drydown: it goes in stages, the herbal/sage lasts quite a while and is very soothing. I'd have to call this one a calm scent. The sage slowly gets dusty as the leather gradually warms up. It finally settles on leather that has been sunwarmed with just a hint of the sage.

  15. This was a gift with the purchase of the full Snake Pit set. No scent description is available.

I want about a gallon of this. It is almost mean to be teased with a wee little imp but I am so grateful to have it. Sexiest damn thing I have smelled - maybe my favorite ever. It is a sugary, creme brule version of Snake Oil. So fucking mean. Beth, if you are readinig this, I will come to your house and be your cabana girl for life if you would only just make this available in 5ml form. I am begging here.

So. Freaking. Good. Did I mention the sugar skull/snake oil love child aspect? :thud:

  16. Snake Oil with cocoa, teakwood, and rice milk.

Holy shit - it is a chocolate covered snake oil

Wet: What are those chocolate flavored caramel candies called? The are all chewy and rich and dark? That is what this smells like.

Drydown: The rich creamy chocolate tones down to a more dusky, incensy chocolate when dry. There is almost a cinnamon feel to it as well. Spicy.

  17. Snake Oil with vetiver, black coconut, vanilla, and opoponax.

I won't lie to you - this is the blend I was most looking forward to out of the entire snake pit. When I first smelled it I was like "ick" it was much more masculine that I was anticipating (for the record I LOVE vetiver). I still gave it the prime testing location of my top left wrist and going on it has a heavy dusty coconut vibe - not juicy like I was hoping - but then again it does say BLACK coconut so I don't know why I was surprised. Five, ten, fifteen minutes go by and still it is a bit to bold for my taste then something wonderful happens. Maybe the vetiver just needed to get warmed up on my skin but now it is a lovely smooth coconut/vetiver mix that has just a hint of sweetness. Finally there is just a whispered suggestion of resiny goodness to round out the mix. Thank you Beth!

  18. Snake Oil with four mints, bergamot, and green tea.

In the bottle: MINT!!! Lots of mint :D It is a clear refreshing scent.

On: Mint squared - lol - but after about 15 minutes it tones down a tiny bit and becomes more of a sensual spicy mint. When I huff my wrist I get an almost citrus/orange kick at the end. The mint seems to mellow more the longer it stays on my skin. Not sharp at all. :yum:
