  1. vellg-clown.gif

Rum-soaked cotton candy, boot-stomped licorice whips and circus peanuts, scorched marshmallows, a dribble of corn whiskey, cigar smoke, and greasepaint.

woosh! In the bottle and wet on it is a whiskey cherry bottle of booze but it quickly dries off and it smells strongly of the sugar from Sugar Skull. A very toasted/caramel sugar scent with a tartness behind it. There is almost a metallic tinge in the background but this is mostly yummy sugar on me

Spun sugar, sparkling rainbow candies, strawberries, merangue, and cherry fluff.

so Velvet Unicorn is like Midways perkier, girly pink cousin. I have the original midway so it could be an age thing but they both have that same spun sugar base note only with VU it is SUGAR! but also sweeter with a creamy strawberry edge. I love how the art and concept are realized in the perfume. It really is the essence of a Velvet Unicorn

  3. Here is a piccie of the old and new Coral snake bottles, I think it is pretty obvious which is which. Tramp, if you see this which one do you have? And how long ago did you get your second lot of the Snake Pit?

Cool! I will have to pull out both of my sets for a side by side comparison. The flipped thing is something I wouldn't notice since the colors are the same. I would just figure my brain was having a dyslexic moment. LOL.

I have one set that was ordered the night they first went live and then a second set about 9 months or a year later. Will have to get back to you. Thanks for posting the pic!

  4. Could someone tell me when did the Lab change the labels for the Snake Pit? I got a sniffer with just enough to test Coral Snake and it has the snake on one side, can't remember but I think it's on the right and when I bought a bottle the snake is on the left and the background is a bit different too. I'm wondering because they smell quite different, the new one I get LOTS of apple to begin with and a bit of a powdery end. The old one I get no apple or powder whatsoever, just all warm sweet spices with the orange over the top which I do prefer, the new one isn't bad, just no where near as good as the old. knowing when the labels changed will give an idea of how long I will have to age the new bottle for before it's as good. I guess I could speed it up a big by pouring some into the old bottle so it oxidises a bit quicker.

    Thanks.

The only snake pit label I know of being changed is the one on King Cobra. It was origionally orange but is now a sort of maroon color. I have 2 sets of the snake pit and that is the only one that was different.

  5. I rather like it but can't figure out what exactly is in it! This is a light sweet musk with maybe some amber or resins, and going on wet I get a licoricey vibe happening - but that part faded quickly. It seems to be in the Harvest Moon 07/Ivanushka scent family

  6. I can't help but notice as i'm desperately waiting for my bpal order, that people are waiting over a month to get even get their clip n ship notice let alone their order. I've ordered bpal a few times before and my halloween order took a while but i thought that was because of the lead up to christmas. I guess what i really want to know is should i expect this all the time or is there a valid reason for such a long wait. I don't want to seem like i'm down on bpal i just think it's an extremely long time to expect a customer to wait for a product they've already paid for.

the stated TAT on the labs web page of 14-21 BUSINESS days which is approximately 4-5 weeks. The vanilla thing was an unexpected delay which the lab was very upfront informing people of.

  7. She who turns to love.
Florentine iris, frankincense, violet, ylang ylang, amber, and orchid.

Dry ethreal flowers. Definatly get the ylang ylang and a clear orchid note that reminds me of Black Orchid. A very elegant and sophisicated blend with just a hint of lemon in the background

  8. Eros has a schmancy label that I haven't seen before. But it's been a while since I saw the whole catalog laid out in front of me, so maybe all the Excolos have this label and I've forgotten:

That is the new GC label that all the "regular" GC's have

ETA: I LOVE the new labels. I don't have may bottles that have them yet but here are two favs

  9. Whispering.
Lily of the valley, tea rose, orris, ambergris, and plumeria.

A very ethereal blend. The lily of the valley makes this an airy floral with just a breath of roses in the background. There is something almost lemony in the background.

  10. Deviser, contriver.
Black plum, burgundy wine, sandalwood, and champaca.

A dark plum with almost a vetiver vibe. This is the plum in my beloved Hellion. Definatly with a wine vibe and I think I am getting that heavy spice/incense vibe from the champaca. The plum mellows into the background and the mellow spices really start to come through.

  11. It is like a head on attack of the vetiver in the bottle but on it mellows quickly and the carnation and musk come out to play. There is a definate "chared" note to this, like a campfire, but that fades the longer you wear it too. After about 10 minutes there is a cinnamon note that emerges! It is spice, musk and warm carnation

  12. White rose buds, with vanilla tea, benzoin, orris, coconut meat, and frankincense.

This starts off all buttery sweet with a very faint dry rose in the background. There is a slight bitterness that I think might be from the frankincense but it fades after about 5 minutes and then all that is left is smooth and creamy vanilla and coconut. This smells so good it is hard not to be all *squee!* about it.

    Gorgeous

  13. Red rose buds, with amber, clove, tonka, Indian musk, fir, and tobacco.

Very spicy and warm. Like a sexy forest studded with cloves and you all snuggled up to an amber covered wolf. Am not really getting rose at all from it. Just warmth and smooth musk and fir and spices. A totally sexy. delicious blend
