    Oberon

This has the same soft floralish powdery finish on me as Alice does, but with a more masculine undertone (the patchouli + juniper, mayhaps). It is missing the honeyed carnation of the Alice but basically Oberon = Alice for Men. I like it for my boyfriend, but I would also wear it myself.

    Black Forest

This one starts out a little "hmm...what was I thinking?" but by the time it dries it turns into a mysterious pineish dark mossy scent. I can pick out the pine but it isn't as in your face on me as it has been on other posters. There is a soft bit of sweetness. I second (third?) the notion that it isn't like skipping through a sunny wood on the way to grandma's house. This is sneaking through an ancient and mystic wood at midnight.

    Scherezade

I never like these incenseish blends wet, so I will skip over that. Dry, this is very dark, spicy, and so much like incense that I can almost feel smoke in the back of my throat when I sniff it. I don't know how Beth does that It is a heavier blend--nothing light, sweet, or frothy here one me. I would wear it out to a darkened club.

    The Coiled Serpent

I received a frimp of this from the Lab. A few years back, I used to buy Aromatherapy Of Rome candles in the Sensual scent from a local shop that eventually closed. The whole shop smelled like the Sensual candle scent even though they carried a full range of scents by that company. The scent was pure sex--sort of patchouli-ish, ylang-ylangesque with a twinge of jasmine and other notes I never could quite define. I babied my candles along, using them for only the most special of evenings until they were gone. I was never able to find that scent again. Until now. This starts out almost a little peanutty when sniffed from the imp, but on the skin it is the long-lost match of the scent I mentioned above. I've also had some amazing results when wearing it to bed that would probably be best described over in one of the sexin' threads in Randomness

    Hamadryad

I tried this one in imp form. Wet/sniffed from the imp, this has a slightly medicinal bite. Once it dries on the skin, it blossoms into this beautiful sweet and woodsy scent. Hamadryad is a very sexy witchy scent, but it comes off more sunny than smoky. It also blends well when complimented with vanilla or amber based scents. I'm getting a 5ml of this one for sure. It seems to be androgynous enough to suit both men and women. It also makes an excellent room scent and linen spray.

    Jack

Jack is pure pumpkin spice candle when smelled wet or when burned. It would make an excellent room scent for those of you who like the seasonal pumpkin scent candles that come out this time of year and then disappear just as fast. As a skin scent, this skews very buttery on me. Not my personal favorite, but for those of you who freak over buttery and pumpkiny scents this would be quite a find.

    Maiden

This one originally reminded me of Alice. So much so that I chose not to buy a 5ml because I already had Alice. D'oh! I wore it to bed one night as an Alice substitute and I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist. At first, it seems very carnation-esque. This is fine by me as I LOVE carnation. Then, in the very next sniff, it smells like a greeny rose scent. I think it is the tea that is making me think green. They all meld together in a most wonderful, non Alice-y way. I'm buying a 5ml of this.

    Oak blends?

    Thanks for the rec!

    Oak blends?

Years ago, I used to buy an oil from the now-vanished Halcyon Her( Company. It was simply called Oak oil and it was the most pretty thing. I now have about 8 drops left and am afraid to use it because I cannot get any more. This Oak oil wasn't particularly a particularly dry wood oil, nor was it cloyingly green. I did a search for "Oak" on the BPAL site to see if anything came up with an oak-y note. It turned up a few fragrances that included oakmoss. I already have an imp of Hamadryad, which seems to be in the family, albeit a little sharp and tangy. I know probably no one here knows of the original blend I'm speaking of, but I'd love to get some recommendations based on your interpretation of my description.

    Black Pearl

I ordered a 5ml of Black Pearl blind based on the note description, then purchased an imp on the forum because I'm impatient. This started out sort of nutty sweet with a creamy bit of coconut. The coconut note I can pick out isn't Hawaiian Tropic/Suave Shampoo coconutty, but more like the somewhat earthy & smooth smell of real coconut. After I have it on for a little while, I can pick up the Iris note. I find this rounds the fragrance out nicely. It will be a few weeks still until my 5ml arrives, but I am so glad I ordered it. I love Black Pearl, both on me and on my guy.

    The Caterpillar

The Caterpillar is very floral and sweet on me. I can't pick out any of the warmer, darker notes particularly as they are blended very well. This does have a smell of the Caterpillar's home on the danker part of the garden/forest floor--sweet, wet, and mossy. It is almost an overly ripe sweet, like the last fresh moments before a flower begins to decay.

    Snake Oil

This fragrance did not smell quite the way I expected it to smell on my skin. Snake Oil dried down as a very "bean-y," sort of grainy vanilla. It may be the spices blended in that gives it this edge. It is very warm, almost like a vanilla incense. I tend to go in for a more creamy vanilla, so this isn't a big bottle fragrance for me. It would be a dream for those who like their vanilla to have more texture.

    Alice

I bought an imp of this from the forum. My first few sniffs of this wet were very full honey & carnation. After it dried, I smelled the carnation most. It also had an after-smell effect that was reminiscent of dryer sheets (but not in an unpleasant way). After a couple hours, it still has a pretty, soft carnationy smell that has a little bit of dryer sheet effect. It sounds weird, but I love it. My boyfriend loves it, too. I think I'll be buying a regular bottle of this one.
