  1. This was a puzzler for me in the bottle - a strong scent with lots of notes that I can't place. But, on me, over time it became the most incredible spiced apple. All harvest-y and autumn. I love it! I have a feeling this one will morph as it ages and I look forward to seeing what it becomes. Thank you Beth for such a lovely scent.

  2. OMG Beans! BEANS!

My husband is laughing at me.

But he never had a garden. I grew up in the full midwestern garden experience. This like standing amid the bean poles and breathing in deep. I can smell the tomatoes off to the side and other greenery here and there. Also fresh dirt. (The dirt comes out stronger on me than it has some of the others who have posted.)

All thats missing is the soft bzzz of a fat bumblebee.

Oh my. I love this. Love, love love. This is a perfect scent for in the depth of winter, when everything is dead and cold. Open it up and smell magic.

    BEANS!

  3. I was very nervous about this after I ordered it - and then started reading reviews. I'm really not a florals girl.

Golden and warm indeed. The notes are very well integrated and hard to pick out. But the amber is definately there. The florals are too, but not in a way I don't like - if that makes any sense at all.

I'll be really interested in seeing what this does after it settles down from aging a bit. It doesn't have quite as much throw as I like.

  4. Spiced rum, coconut, pineapple, and vanilla.

I was hoping for the pineapple scent of my dreams. Looks like I'm still searching.

In the bottle this had a kind of caramel spice smell.

On me it reminded me of Chimera - very cinnamon bun. I get a hint of fruit, but not quite what I wanted. I was walking back to the the bedroom thinking I would let this age a month and try again before before swapping when I noticed my wrist was itching. Then my husband said, "What happened to your neck?" Suddenly, I had huge, red, stinging welts where I had applied Upa Upa. Even after trying to wash it off with alcohol and a shower they are still there.

This stuff will have to go.

  5. I decided to let this age a bit before reviewing.

In the bottle: herbal and green

On me: this is very blended. It's hard to pick out notes. Green, sweet, spicy. There's a fleeting hint of orange candy. (Okay - I know that makes no sense, but I smell it.) More like a bright, moss covered bridge than a nasty dank tunnel. Salty. I'd call this masculine, although I wear those scents too.

  6. I didn't get cocoa. :P In the bottle it was straight up spiced coffee - which I liked. But on me the coffee turned plastic and the cinnamon ran roughshod over everthing. I was very disappointed. I have as yet to find a coffee that works for me.

  7. Hello! I'm wondering if any of you have found a good BPAL approximation to Jo Malone's Orange Blossom or Nectarine Blossom & Honey colognes -- they're my two favorite fragrances but holy COW they're spendy.

Orange Blossom: orange blossom, neroli, water lily, honeysuckle, jasmine. The drydown is mostly a sort of heady jasmine. On the whole the scent is more floral than fruity.

Nectarine Blossom & Honey: clementine, peach, plum, honey, hint of blackcurrant. Mostly peachy but not cloyingly so on me; there's a vague almost soil-like note that keeps it grounded.

What I like about both of these is that they're neither too citrusy or sweet, nor are they incense-y or musky. I don't do well with incense-y or musky.

I've been poring over the forums and thus far am intrigued by Tweedledee, Hunger, Carnal, Cobra Lily, Akuma and Satan & Death with Sin Intervening. (That latter one I think I have to get just for the name!) Any suggestions or recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry - I don't know the perfumes you're looking for similarities to - but I very much recommend Tweedledee! Love it, love it, love it. Smelt the imp - HAD to have a bottle right away.

  8. In the US you might have problems with BPAL, especially imps, particularly imps with homemade labels in carry on. US airport security is fussy about liquids. They should be okay in checked luggage, but I personally wouldn't take anything in carry on you can't stand to have taken away. The rule are unevenly enforced from airport to airport and you would not be guarenteed for it to go through in carry on. There have also been periods of time in response to increased security where ALL liquids in carry on were thrown out. I missed this situation by days last year and would have lost my case with all my favorite imps.
