    Blood Pearl

In the imp: Sweet with a little bit of coconut and musk. On skin, wet: More musky, less sweet, and no more coconut. Boo. On skin, dry: This is a faint scent overall. Otherwise, much the same as it was wet. After an hour: This scent stays quite faint, but there's maybe a faint hint of returning coconut so I'll give this one a little time to age and try it again.

    Yorick

In the imp: Dirt, and something kind of musty or maybe dusty? On skin, wet: Same as in the imp. On skin, dry: Oh my god, I know what this smells like now! Geraniums! Potted geraniums. The dirt, the musty smell of the leaves, all of it. After an hour: Still mostly that potted-geranium smell. There's a hint of something softer underneath, but mostly it's very strong and very dirty/musty. It's interesting, but not something I would wear.

    Horreur Sympathique

In the imp: Wine, with an extra grapey note, and maybe a little carnation. On skin, wet: Much the same as in the imp, with a touch of florals as well. On skin, dry: This is weird. One sniff it'll be grape and tonka/benzoin, the next sniff it's floral and tonka/benzoin. The two are quite different, and never really MIX... it's one or the other. Really bizarre! After an hour: Much the same as the initial drydown. Alas, I only really like the grape version, not the floral version, so it's only 50% a winner for me. That's not enough to warrant a bottle purchase.

    Wake

In the imp: Citrus ahoy! On skin, wet: Still pretty much just a citrus blend. On skin, dry: Citrus with a bit of soap (probably from one of the florals). After an hour: Same as the initial drydown. No mint or cumin, sadness.

    Half-Elf

In the imp: Kinda perfumey. Le sigh. On skin, wet: Still a little perfumey, but not quite as harsh to the nose as before. Nothing else really stands out, though. On skin, dry: Fading fast. It's not perfumey anymore--more woody and a touch musky--but it's also getting faint, overall. After an hour: It hasn't vanished, but it's definitely a subtle scent at this point. Wood and a little musk. No beeswax, no tea.

    Thy Godfather's Present

In the imp: Herbal but not harsh or astringent. Almost fresh, somehow, and it definitely smells purple. Don't know how that works, but it does. On skin, wet: Much the same. A hint of soap, which is worrying. On skin, dry: The soap dies back down some, though it's still subtly present. But otherwise, not much change. After an hour: No more soap. But otherwise, this one is neither a morpher nor particularly special.

    The Antikythera Mechanism

In the imp: Sweet, warm, comfy. On skin, wet: Pretty much the same as in the imp. It's not as smoky or harsh as tobacco usually is on me, so that black vanilla must really be mellowing the tobacco out. On skin, dry: Same as it was wet. After an hour: A little smokier, a little less sweet, but still a very mellow sort of tobacco blend. DEFINITELY worth a re-test!

'Tis The Voice Of The Lobster

In the imp: Fruity. The watermelon is strongest, but it's a fruity blend in general. On skin, wet: Fruity, but a little cough syrupy, oddly enough, even though there's no cherry. On skin, dry: Much the same as it was wet. After an hour: Still very similar, but with just a hint of florals now as well. All in all, not a winner.

    The White Rider

In the imp: Erk. Men's cologne. On skin, wet: Still men's cologne. This may be a "scrub off" scent. On skin, dry: Men's cologne sprayed liberally on a leather coat. Much more cologne than leather. After an hour: Same as the drydown. Definitely scrubbing it off now.

    Katharina

In the imp: Apricot. On skin, wet: Apricot. There's maybe, maybe a little hint of musk, but it's faint and elusive. On skin, dry: No more maybe-musk, it's all apricot again. After an hour: Still pretty much all apricot. Not quite as aggressive about it as Grand Guignol, but similar enough that I shall have to deathmatch them.

    Mania

In the imp: Fruit and musk, almost a touch boozy (I am beginning to think that red musk is what smells almost boozy to me in some scents). On skin, wet: Still slightly boozy musk, with a tart fruit undernote. On skin, dry: The boozy-musk has vanished and now it's all tart fruit and a lighter sort of musk. It kind of borders on smelling artificial without quite crossing the line. After an hour: While this is by far the best strawberry blend I've tried from BPAL, that's not saying much because their strawberry usually goes very artificial on me, and occasionally goes REALLY awful. But this one just turned into a standard sort of tart-fruit-with-light-musk kind of thing.

    Nostrum Remedium

    In the imp: A light, green, slightly soapy scent. Can't smell anything like tea, wasabi, or honey. o.O On skin, wet: Same as in the imp, but with even more soap. On skin, dry: Still sort of the same, but the "soap" note is slowly veering towards "dryer sheets," like aquatics and ozone tend to on me. After an hour: Yeah, eau de dryer sheets. I was SO looking forward to this scent, more than just about any other I've tried in the last few months, but it's nothing like what I hoped for. ;_;

    Plunder

In the imp: Cinnamon. On skin, wet: Cinnamon, with a touch of play-doh. o.O On skin, dry: And now it's just cinnamon again. After an hour: Straight-up cinnamon. Sigh. Not surprising, given how much I amp cinnamon, but I was kinda hoping one of the other strong notes in this would hold up at least a bit.

    51

In the imp: Light green, a little sweet and powdery. On skin, wet: Freesia. Nothing else. On skin, dry: Now it's more like a department store perfume that is heavy on freesia. After an hour: Same as the initial drydown. Very disappointing. Apparently I amp freesia!

    Havana

Date palm, dried tobacco, snakeroot, and leather. In the imp: Green, leafy and rooty, a little soapy. On skin, wet: Pretty much the same as in the imp. On skin, dry: Still the same. After an hour: This one did not morph. Which is unfortunate, because I wanted leather and tobacco and got green soap.

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I can't seem to find any descriptions of what "Neutral" from the RPG line is supposed to *look* like. I'm never surprised when scents *smell* different on me than on others--my chemistry and nose are clearly very odd. But the oil in my imp of Neutral is bright red, which seems a bit odd for a skin musk scent, but if it's normal then no big deal. I'd just like to be sure, because normally I like skin musk.

    Lawful

In the imp: Leafy, herbal, but warm and sweet too. Almost smells like vanilla. On skin, wet: Similar to in the bottle, without that vanilla-like note. More fruity, now. On skin, dry: Fading fast, but the fruit is more tart, more clearly rhubarb. After an hour: Light, tart and fruity, but nothing special. The leafy and herbal notes have gone poof, and I only ever got any warmth in the imp.
  18. lohengrin

    Neutral

In the imp: Musk, but a lot heavier than expected. The oil is bright red, too, which surprises me. On skin, wet: Slightly sweet, but still heavy musk. Definitely more red musk than skin musk. On skin, dry: Same as before--heavy red musk. After an hour: Department store perfume counter. ACK.

    Vice

    In the imp: Chocolate-covered cherries. On skin, wet: Mostly cherry, hint of cough syrup. On skin, dry: Cherry, a little smoothed out and warmed up by something, but not distinctly chocolatey. After an hour: And this has turned into artificial cherry, like scratch n'sniff or scented plastic dolls. It's not actually unpleasant, but it's sure not anything I want to smell like on a regular basis. ^^;

    Good

In the imp: Department store perfume section. x.x On skin, wet: Still perfumey. On skin, dry: No real change. Every now and then I think I smell something sweet, but it goes away again right away. After an hour: Same all the way through, and it is not a good thing. No vanilla, honey or sugar cane, this is all PERFUME. Ack. Scrubbing it off.

    Chokecherry Honey

In the imp: Cough syrup sweetened with honey. On skin, wet: Now it kind of wavers between cough syrup and a more pleasant cherry note. On skin, dry: No more cough syrup! Sweet cherry all the way. No distinct honey feel, as such, but it softens and sweetens the cherry nicely. After an hour: Same as the initial drydown. This is lovely, and is going on my Cherry Deathmatch list.

    Chaotic

In the imp: Musk, mainly. Wasabi, IME, doesn't quite have a strong "scent," per se, but rather a feeling in my nose, and I do get that here. On skin, wet: Much the same as in the imp, with maybe a hint of floral. On skin, dry: And this scent has done a total 180. Now all I get is a strong green note, like stems moreso than leaves. There's still a little of that wasabi-feeling left, but not enough. After an hour: Still mostly that green note. Mastic, I guess? If so, it's not nearly as painful (literally, as in headache-inducing) as pine and especially cedar usually are for me, but it's still not something I'm terribly fond of. I was really hoping the mastic wouldn't show up at all, much less take over. :/

    The Red Rider

In the imp: Leather. A warm sort of leather, like in Dead Man's Hand. On skin, wet: Leather! A bit of woodiness, but mostly just leather. On skin, dry: And the woodiness went away again. Leather! After an hour: This one really reminds me of Dead Man's Hand. It's not quite as sunny and cozy, but it's got a similar sort of warmth. I don't need a bottle of this right now, but when I do run out of DMH this seems like it would be an excellent substitute.

    The Lights of Men's Lives

In the imp: Sweet, honey-like, but maybe a touch soapy. On skin, wet: Pretty much the same as in the imp. On skin, dry: Soapy-sweet and honey-like. After an hour: Finally getting some hints of smoke, but the whole scent has gotten really faint. Which is weird, because it seems like the sort of scent that would have more lasting power.

    The Witch's Garden

In the imp: Green, lots of dusty sage, and just herbal in general. On skin, wet: Sage, with a little vegetal sweetness underneath--not distinct enough to say for sure "this is carrot," but that's my best guess. On skin, dry: What the heck? My lovely green and herbal scent has turned into a standard BPAL fresh floral. BOO. After an hour: No change from the initial drydown. So disappointed--the wet stage was lovely and interesting, and now this is just like so many other BPAL florals.
