  1. In the imp/just applied I get a sweet, powdery floral. It's making think, Shalimar. Or maybe some other perfume...Pavlova, I *think*.

As it dries, I get a hint of coconut, but not much. The musk is there, but also slight.

After a bit more time the powdery sweetness starts to mellow out a *bit*. Okay, still there. Lovely but that powder/sweet thing, won't work for me, unfortunately.

  2. In the bottle/just on~Roses with a very light herbal something.

The roses get stronger but not overpowering. It's a deep, dark rose scent. Have had this on 3-4 hours and still, pretty much all I get is roses. Beautiful blend, but I was hoping for more of the other notes to shine through~tonka, vanilla, tobacco leaf...

Fortunately, the roses in this haven't given me a headache :P

Lovely, but not sure I'll be keeping this one.

  3. Received from the lovely olympia301 :P

In the imp/just on~I get deep, rich amber and fruit. Red pear maybe?

As it wears, it lightens a bit, and threatens to turn a bit "heady perfume" but never quite gets there. Long lasting with nice throw. There's also a bit of incensy something that shows up after a few hours.

I don't get any of the florals or woods. Just the amber and fruit. Warm, a touch sweet~delicious in a non-foody way.

If this is Springtime, it's a dark, wet & foreboding Spring.

    Love it!!

  4. Slightly sharp herbal with cherry syrup & just a touch of cinnamon spice. There's also a bit of almond that comes through. After about 5-10 minutes, rose makes an entrance. Very nice blend, but unfortunately, like most rose blends, it gave me a headache.

Hopefully, I'll be able to stand it long enough to see how it works :P

  5. In the bottle/just applied~Slightly sweet, dry florals with a touch of rose. As it dries, the rose comes through a bit more and there's a hint of...cedar(?) in the background. Subtle throw.

After a few hours there's a bit of what smells like a very light vanilla that sneaks in here and there.

    Lovely blend :P

  6. Chaos Theory II: XVII (17)

In the bottle~juicy, not too sweet, berries. *Very* subtle strawberry being the most prominent.

Just applied~A creamy almond makes an appearance among the berries, then after a few minutes I get a very light, sweet incense with a touch of cedar.

Nice throw. Next to skin, almond is stronger~at arm's length, I get more of the berries.

    Lovely!!

Got this from mobilejessie but I couldn't find the review. However, here it is reviewed by Penance :P

  7. In the imp/first applied~All myrrh and sweetness.

After a few minutes it turns into a nag champa-like incense with a lovely hint of creamy vanilla...Rich, languid, thick with sex. Hypnotic almost.

Nice throw and lasts for hours.

Just might have to get a big bottle of this one.

  8. In the imp/first applied I get yummy cedar with coconut and fig peeking through. As it dries, the cedar softens and all that's left is fig w/a bit of coconut. Enough coconut that it *reminds* me tanning lotion but doesn't actually smell like it.

This is Carnal, but even richer, more rounded and voluptuous. After a few hours it's mostly lovely fig w/a hint of coconut & cedar sneaking through now and again.

Lasts for hours and has nice throw.

Haven't decided whether this will go on my big bottle *must have* list, but I do like it. A LOT :P

  9. 08/10/05: Since I actually got a mislabeled bottle of House of Mirrors, I'm editing/moving this to it's proper place...

Very citrusy/crisp to me in the bottle. Same on and then goes way perfumy. Headache perfumy :D I've had it on for not quite three hours and the strong, designer perfume thing is all I'm getting. Quite a bit of throw.

    ETA: Hubby's review~

"Clean, fresh, like an after-shower spray. A little soapy smelling but like this very much. No sneezing, gagging or headache."

So, looks like this one is a keeper after all, for Him. :P <---He picked the emoticon :D

  10. In the imp and first applied this is a rich, warm milk and tart honey~gorgeous!!

After a few minutes there's a *hint* of tea & lemon, as well, which only adds more to the yummy factor.

It mellows to a lush, creamy honey and last for hours. Nice throw, too.

Doesn't really smell like it, but kind of reminds me of everyone's favorite(or almost everyone's??), puppy breath :P

I'm definitely keeping an eye out for a bottle :D

  11. In the imp & first applied~boozy peppermint.

Then kind of herbal peppermint for a few minutes. After about an hour it goes to a yummy, light milk chocolate & vanilla with a hint of coconut~Like a chocolate and vanilla funnel cake? To me, anyway :D

Another hour or so and it's all sweet & creamy goodness :P

  12. In the imp~bubble gum! But very YUMMY bubble gum!!

    First applied~sweet, sugary spice.

After a couple of hours it becomes a DELICIOUS, sweet & creamy, toasty sugared vanilla with a hint of marshmallow. Amazingly enough, this isn't really what I'd call "foody". Just warm, toasted sweetness and spice :D

Reminds me *just a little bit* of Midway.

Me thinks I need a bottle of this, so a-hunting I will go :P

  13. In the imp and just applied this is warm, juicy cinnamon. Like Dentyne gum. Very refreshing, nice throw. Lightens considerably but doesn't disappear completely. Lingers softly for hours. There's a very subtle, fruity something that I catch snatches of now and again...Want to say fig, but can't tell for sure. Whatever it is, it's lovely!

Nice when a purpose oil smells so nice!! Now fingers are crossed that it works as intended :D

eta: duh, forgot...Also has a bit of a creamy vanilla thing going on after about an hour. Gotta love it :P

  14. This is to DIE for!!!

In the bottle, warm gingerbread and cinnamon spice. Same when applied but softens a bit and a beautiful medley of incense and exotic spices starts to emerge. There's a bit of fresh ginger, just a touch, lingering in the background. As the day wears on, the notes above are made even more beautiful by the addition of a lovely, subtle, almost vanilla'ish creaminess.

Not foody, not *too* sweet. Has a slight similarity to Snake Oil after a few hours.

    Exotic & lush...Exquisite!!

    :P

I'm of the opinion that this should be made part of the standard catalog :D

Hey it's good to have dreams! :D

  15. In the imp/just applied this is a sharp & tangy wild honey with light, toasty coconut dancing in the background~GORGEOUS!! Turns creamy for about 15-20 minutes then...here comes the sandalwood :D Recently, I've found that sandalwood feels the need to go all soapy powdery on me while it does it's best to irritate my sinuses and dry out my throat. No exception here, unfortunately.

If it stayed true to the imp and first applied, heavenly! But nope, party-pooper sandalwood keeps that from happening. :P

I like this enough in the imp that I'll give it another try in the near future. For now, I'll pass.

  16. In the imp~fresh peach and apricot.

On, I get a bit of spice with a hint of musk. Something pineapple-y, as well, but very faint. Overall this is a very light, slightly sweet and spiced fruit scent on me. The spiciness keeps it from being too fruity sweet for me but alas, it fades quickly. Gone within the hour.

Lovely blend, reminds me a *bit* of Baba Yaga.

  17. In the imp and first applied I get a slightly spicy, lemony floral scent. As it dries, it smells quite a bit like Lemon Pledge. Not unpleasant, but not exactly something I want to smell like, either :P After about 20 minutes I picked up a bit more of the spiciness, like cinnamon spice almost, but it disappeared as quickly as it showed up.

Has decent throw but fades quickly on me.

Nice, but not something I'd get a bottle of.

  18. In the imp, tickled my nose, smells really soapy. Hubby thought the same thing and wasn't too keen on trying it on so...He didn't.

Dabbed a little on myself and immediately got a headache. Didn't get any of the yumminess others have mentioned, unfortunately.

  19. In the bottle this is syrupy-sweet incense. On, the sweetness mellows just a tad and I get a very deep, rich and exotic scent.

After about an hour I get a bit of something that's trying hard to tickle my nose and throat. Black patchouli? Certainly seems to be, blah. However, this is so beautifully blended, so complex, I'm doing just fine with it :P

Two + hours, still a bit of that annoying something but I can live with it. This is dry incense and crackling embers. Acrid, yet sweet smoke. As it draws me in, it also repels me. I see a vast wasteland of darkness.

The feel of this is true to it's description. This strikes me as more of a ritual oil.

    Whatever, it's beautiful!

Nice throw and lasts for hours.

  20. Wanted to try this one mostly because, well, one of my Pharaoh Hounds is named "Wicked". "Someth'n Wicked", in fact. Yes, she tries her best to live up to her name :D

    So....two words.

    JASMINE

    HEADACHE

    :P

  21. In the imp, strong, almost sickly sweet peach and pear.

On skin, Jolly Ranchers watermelon candy. It's nice enough, but just not me. Not to mention, the immediate headache I got after the first sniff...no fun.

Decent amount of throw and lasted a good while. But yep, watermelon candies.

  22. In the bottle, boozy chocolate.

On, the same as above but it quickly moves into the background and a light, tart berry sweetness starts to emerge. Drydown is lovely and complex. I get a combination of an incensy sweet head shop with holiday candles in the background. Never too sweet. The pomegranate and fig make a gorgeous entrance about an hour after application and finally, creamy honey and vanilla come through. Very much a skin scent on me.

    Beautifully, and perfectly, blended.

Hubby likes it really well, too(on me). :P So He's three for three on the CN series so far. I never got any lemon or bergamot, but He did.

Will probably order another bottle of this :D
