  1. In the imp, tart, almost candy-like berries.

On skin I immediately get a tangy lemon rind scent with a light, powdery spiciness in the background. After about fifteen minutes it's more like Lemonheads candies with a *very* subtle smokiness hovering around. It ends up a super light, powdery sweet candy scent with the incense and smoke trying hard to come through but never quite succeeding *sigh*. I like it enough to try it again, though :P

  2. In the imp and first applied it's Big Red gum. Within seconds it turns to a softer, creamy cinnamon and then the amber starts to emerge =) There's a hint of saffron, a touch of musk, and mandarin makes a gentle apperance now and again. No rose *whew*. While I'm also not getting any sandalwood or nutmeg, it's an absolutely beautiful blend. Unfortunately, I have to plaster nose to skin to get any kind of sniff :P

Warm, spicy and sexy with a touch of the exotic. Definitely big bottle(or more since I'll obviously have to bathe myself in it, lol) worthy :D

Oh, and the cinnamon fades to next to nothing.

  3. The first thing that hits me(in the bottle), is cassia, but not like, WOW. There's a *very* subtle, and quite lovely, hint of plum. Once it touches my skin the cassia strengthens a bit but again, not at all overpowering. Aside from the patchouli and tobacco, which ground and round it out beautifully without screaming, "HERE WE ARE!", the other notes are so well blended that I can't really distinguish them. I *think* I catch lovely whiffs of them here and there but can't swear to it.

After an hour or so, it becomes an exquisitely beautiful, rich, slightly smoky, very sexy skin scent. As per my Beloved, "Mmmmm, I want to lick you all over...." :D

And that's why I have another bottle on the way :P

  4. In the imp this is semi-sweet, spicy herbs. It touches the skin and immediately the herbal edge starts to disappear allowing the cedar to come through then, close behind, sandalwood. The patchouli remains soft and the sweetness from the myrrh is there but never overpowering.

While it eventually goes very light, the beautiful, smoky-incense scent and feel remain.

    This one's a winner :P

  5. The notes in this always work for me but the name, SMUT, yep, HAD to have it! Especially after I told my Beloved about it and he said, "SMUT! That's one of those words that when I say it, it brings a big smile to my face... :P"

I've worn this a couple of times(including right now), and LOVE it!

In the bottle it has the same sweet spiciness of Snake Oil. It doesn't necessarily *smell* like S.O. to me, but there's definitely a similar feel to it. On skin it darkens beautifully, becomes a deeper, richer scent....The musk in this is quite yummy! I don't pick up any booze note other than a bit of a dry, slightly sweet, non-koolaid grape thing. Just dawned on me what that slight dryness is, too, duh.

There's also a similarity to Sed Non Satiata. Still, SMUT stands all on it's own.

Beautiful skin scent, lovely throw but invites one to come close.

    SMUT...SMUTTY SEX...mmmmm

  6. In the imp this is warm, dark green. On skin the musk emerges, swirling around like a sinister dark cloud that beckons you irresistibly, then finally...leather. Smoky, wet leather that slaps, then sticks to, the skin.

Masculine, yes, but something that can easily be worn by a woman. On a man, however(especially mine, YUM)... Take me NOW :P

  7. No peanut butter here :P

In the bottle, this reminds me of Snake Oil...doesn't smell like it, just something... The same *feel* to it, I guess.

On skin, there's an almost peppery spice that really kicks in for the first couple minutes and there's a slightly sharp floral edge to it, both fade away quickly. As a few more minutes go by, it starts to sweeten a bit. Beautifully blended while allowing all the notes to shine through. There's also a slight incense-y smokiness to it(the myrrh?), lovely!

    Warm, voluptuous...Exquisite!

  8. In the bottle, spicy. On skin, starts out a bit on the masculine side...There's the feeling of being among of forest of pines on a cold, winter day. After a few minutes it starts to soften and there's a bit of a sweet, creamy cinnamon starting to emerge, very subtle. The masculine edge is also softening to a lovely, gender-neutral scent.

    Beautiful!

  9. Re-released 10/16/05

In the bottle, strong lavender(that's what I get, anyway). As soon as it touches skin, the lavender fades with just the slightest herbal scent and a soft, dry cinnamon starts to appear. Reminds me a bit of one of the Voodoo oils but can't think of which atm.

After about...20 minutes or so, there's a gorgeous, warm spicy vanilla with a touch of clove coming through.

    Lovely!!

  10. Sweet, spicy florals in the imp. Once applied to skin, there's a hint of dry cinnamon which strengthens to turn this blend into more of a potpourri type scent.

Still spicy-sweet..with almost a candy-like sweetness but not overpoweringly so. Very "holiday appropriate". Like a xmas specialty store.

    Quite nice :P

  11. In the imp, heavy & sweet w/a bit of an alcohol smell...maybe *slightly* boozy but more like rubbing alcohol. On skin the alcohol fades & the sweetness comes out a bit more accompanied by a hint of powder, which gets stronger the longer it's on. The musk is lovely but that powdery thing...hmm...There's also a bit of that stale bathroom/civet thing going on, but too much and it fades.

Overall, not bad. I'll definitely keep the imp :P

  12. In the bottle, dried apples and sweet spice. Nice enough....

Once it touches the skin O.M.G. This is BEAUTIFUL!! The apples & spice fade softly into the background allowing the fir and patchouli to come to the forefront with a hint of sweet smoke. So like Hexennacht(YUM), but a *touch* sweeter.

This is the smell of autumn in a deep, dark forest...I LOVELOVELOVE this!! Beth's description is dead on.

I believe I'll be getting another bottle asap...or twothreefour....

  13. A light, brisk lemony/citrus kind of scent. Very fresh w/just a hint of something sweet in the background. There's also something here that keeps it from being *too* light, familiar but can't quite place it atm.

As a perfume oil, very nice! As a Voodoo oil....I'll know how well it works when I get the chance to put it to the test :P

  14. I can't even begin to describe what I smell in the imp...tobacco? Herbs??

On skin it immediately goes all green herbal. After a few minutes, leather soaked in sweet, green herbs. There's also something that while barely there, is almost candy-sweet. Hints of incense and smoke with a dark, musky background. Very complex and quite lovely. I'm really liking this one :P

  15. In the imp, gardenia & jasmine, nothing else :l Once on, both fade *a bit*(amazingly enough), and something almost lemony comes to the forefront...There's a nice hint of leather in the background, not too strong but definitely there.

Quite nice to find something w/gardenia and jasmine that doesn't stay in overkill mode :P Still, while nice enough, not one I'll be looking to add to the big bottle list.

  16. This is a hard one to describe...

In the bottle it's slightly sweet, herbal, woodsy...with a touch of incense...

On skin, cinnamon. But as others have stated, not a sweet candy-like cinnamon but a dry one...It then becomes a bit of *head shop meets holiday potpourri* but much nicer and that stage doesn't last but about 5 minutes. The longer it's on, the more beautiful it becomes.

There's also something almost aquatic about it but then, it seems more sulfuric, like blood. There are hints of Hexennacht here but obvious differences, as well. The dragon's blood, which I got none of at first, peeks through for a bit then fades into the background. A good thing because I've discovered, sadly, that while I've always LOVED dragon's blood, BPAL DB tends to go all icky sweet gardenia/jasmine powdery on me. Not this time =)

And again, the longer this is on my skin the lovelier it gets. There's a "wild"(feral) something about it, as well...

Bah, I give up. Like I stated previously, hard one to describe.

Whatever the hell, I adore it!!

ETA: Definitely picking up a gorgeous, non-foody vanilla now. Very similar to the smoky, spicy vanilla in Snake Oil. This stuff just gets better and better. :P

    BTW, Macha...as always, beautiful work!!

ETA: Interesting thing...Put some of this on this morning, just plastered nose to wrist...it's still hanging in there but this time, it's very much like O, not a bad thing at all.

  17. In the imp this is *very* similar to Strawberry Moon...A good thing!!

On skin it's more like Bordello & Strawberry Moon decided to hang out together. It's a field of a mixture of fresh berries, a touch of cream & a hint of fresh green herbs. Lovely!!

  18. Urd

Imp from a most lovely & generous forumite!!

This starts out with a strong grape(Muscaadine) scent, both in the imp an first applied.

Within seconds it morphs into a BEAUTIFUL, woodsy/smoky, incensy goodness with the grape providing a hint of sweetness in the background. On me, this is very much like a *slightly* sweeter Hexennacht(another love of mine).

Definitely on the list of "MUST have a bottle of this!!"/Definitely a top ten favorite.

  19. In imp/immediately upon application~rich, sweet myrrh.

Nothing bittersweet(as per description) about this one. The notes blend beautifully and fortunately, not a hint of juniper(gag). This one is more of a slightly powdery incense type blend(on me) that goes through a gorgeous, creamy, almost vanilla-like phase. Eventually, it ends up a heavily sweet scent with the feel of a thick body lotion. Might give this one another try. This time around, nice but not WOW.

  20. In the imp and first applied, strong on the mint. It quickly settles down & becomes a beautiful, light minty tea followed by light, but not *too* light(whatever that means, lol) florals.

The mint becomes more of a fresh cut spearmint & blends beautifully w/the other notes, whereas at first...wasn't too sure about this one. Eventually the mint all but disappears, which seems to happen w/my chemistry, so far, with all the mint blends I've tried. I'm left with a beautiful, fresh green herbal garden, not really floral(no rose even!).

As an added bonus, the headache I'd had all day disappeared...like, immediately after putting this on.

So while I might not get a bottle of this one, I think I'll keep the imp.

  21. In the imp and first applied, the amber is strongest & absolutely gorgeous. There's a hint of sandalwood & myrrh with the slightest touch of earthiness in the background. Unfortunately, within minutes...ROSE!!! Although the Spanish moss manages to hold it's ground enough that the rose settles down a bit.

This is a gentle, feminine blend. A bit too gentle for me. Lovely nonetheless.
